Osun sat on the edge of the river with joy radiating her heart. Ayangalu had promised her two things at a go, and she knew he could do it. Not long after, dry grasses crumbled under the light feet of someone. She knew it was none other than Ayangalu, the most handsome man after Sango, of course. Ever since Sango decided to start acting irrationally, her love for him had dwindled. Now, Ayangalu, whose drum had given dancers power they would never dream of, would be taking Osun as his wife. She would defile every rumor of her people that she was supposed to follow their rules. But that was her desire. Thus, when Ayangalu stepped forward, empty-handed, she stared at him in awe. The drummer came down empty-handed. 'Ayan… Where's your drum?' 'Osun…' He said and swallowed hard. 'Asafa, the eye doctor, is sick. He was such a mess that he was causing a spectacle on my way here'. 'What has that got to do with me?' She said. 'I can't use my drums to take this power you have from you because we need your power and wisdom. And with your power, I can't control you'. Osun stared at him. 'Have you met Sopona? Has he cursed you?' 'Never. I can't do this with you'. 'You told me you want me to be your wife…' 'And be struck by Sango?', Ayangalu said and withdrew. 'But you have been blessed by my father, nothing can happen to you.' Ayangalu shook his head. 'Nothing… I can't risk my life… Not possible. I love you no doubt, but I think it's best we love ourselves from afar'. Osun yelled and sat on the floor. 'I'm pregnant. I'm missed my period for two moons now. I can't find it. If the cock crows tomorrow, Sango will detect because he knows when we are about to get to our third month'. 'Oba will keep it for you.' 'Ayangalu,' a lady shouted. 'Where are you?' Osun rose and stared about in despair. Beating the bushes aside, the most skilled dancer stepped out. Osun envied her dance steps and always wanted to be in her body whenever she danced. 'My husband,' Egunsola said. Ayangalu glanced at Osun. She understood what he meant, but she was that desperate. Sango hated betrayal, especially if you remained under his roof. 'But… I don't mind being your second wife'. 'I don't share my husband,' Egunsola said and glared at her. 'But she's not… Egunsola, you're not his wife…' Egunsola laughed. 'Our parents promised us to each other, but Ayan loved to play with you girls on the side. He told me about you. I loved it. It meant power for him…'. Osun swallowed hard. She cried as she imagined what would happen to her if Sango knew what she had done. Luckily, she met a pregnant coming her way. Seeing this, she sent the child into her and couldn't stop crying. Her father discovered this and promised her that the child will die on her thirteenth birthday. From that day, she always killed her daughter on the thirteenth birthday to send her spirit into another pregnant woman. If you're above thirteen, you're definitely not the one. But if you have anyone below that age, you should watch one of them might be the one. The unfortunate part is that Osun's father has discovered her ploy and had promised her that if her child dies before thirteen, Egun will not allow her spirit to be transported to the earth again. And that means Osun has to reveal herself to her child this year because Sango will know on her thirteenth birthday, causing an uproar. If the child is not prepared, we are in for trouble. So, you can be the guardian of anyone below 13 you meet, help them cross the road, advise them about life, teach them about Jesus as they have a purpose in life. Equip them because that might be the only thing that they will need to fight this mystical war brewing because of them. Inspired by Bibanke--- ASA http://www.writertain.com/224/daughter-mothers |

Ezekiel 16:11-14 (KJV) I decked thee also with ornaments, and I put bracelets upon thy hands, and a chain on thy neck. And I put a jewel on thy forehead, and earrings in thine ears, and a beautiful crown upon thine head. Thus wast thou decked with gold and silver; and thy raiment was of fine linen, and silk, and broidered work; thou didst eat fine flour, and honey, and oil: and thou wast exceeding beautiful, and thou didst prosper into a kingdom. And thy renown went forth among the heathen for thy beauty: for it was perfect through my comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord GOD If God did this, why kill yourself. |
The Blue Death Activation Tick One day, a young woman came out of her house with the intention of killing two people that day. 'Hey, Akintayo Akinjide, please let it be on record that it was a Saturday. In fact, today is… What's that date again', Ife yelled as she locked the door. She rummaged through the black leather bag she hung around herself. Then, she remembered she wore a smartwatch. She checked it and looked up. 'Today is the 13th of July'. The black blouse and trousers she wore made her fairness pronounced. She even wore the black headband she wore the last time she went on a mission. This night, however, her actions were not influenced by the fat bank alerts. Her emotions were her propellant, and nothing could get on the way. 'Tell them how I crushed the door with a punch.' One that favored the methods of the bouncers, she had punched repeatedly in a fury. She hurried off to her car and awaited her companion. She wanted a response before leaving home. His answer would be the fuel. As much as she loved him and had promised to quit their lives of hired assassins, she couldn't resist the desire to eradicate the syndicate that served as their leaders. They have gotten two of her friends, and she had to avenge them. 'You are not writing this thing well, A.K. my revenge must happen,' she muttered. Ever since she guessed that she was a fictional character, Ifeoluwa had always wanted to influence what is written about her, and that's why she had been missing in most of the stories and might not even come again in another story. 'That's your luck. At least, I'm haunting your imagination', she yelled and typed furiously into her phone. Her message was delivered, but it was yet to tick blue. Jay, you can't talk me out of this. I will kill them all. I just want you to tell me you love me. She sat up and awaited his response. Knowing he would talk her out of it again, she had prepared every response she could think of to make him give his consent. He had his way of making her do things whenever he was face to face with her. But on Whatsapp, she always took control. He had to rush away to fix something at his office that night, and she got the news later about Tracey's death. She was tired of the syndicate. They had caused more havoc than the good the Nigerian government created them for. 'Get away from here,' she shouted at two lovers kissing by the side of the car. They scrambled through the darkness into oblivion. 'Take note of that, Akin. Let it be known that I controlled my rage before I start my massacre'. She got out of her car and glanced at her message to Jay. His message hadn't been ticked blue. Just then, the rain came in its torrent. 'I think you are yet to write the story of me killing those crazy tyrants. Remember that day, author? These men were about to nuke Aso Rock. It was raining lion and tiger that day. I almost allowed them to have their way, but the love of this republic got over me'. All she needed was for the blue ticks and forcing Jay to tell her he loved her. 'Jay, read my message,' she groaned, agitated. Out of nowhere, a tall, dark guy whose suit was now extremely soaked knocked on the window. He was panting heavily and looked scared. His car was parked at the end of the road, but she couldn't have guessed it was him. He knocked again. Ife looked up, saw him, and placed her hands on her head as she buried her head in her laps. Jay seemed to understand. He stood akimbo. 'No…' She yelled. 'A.K, this is where we need you. Write him to another part of the story and not here'. After what seemed like an eternity, she longed forward and opened the door. 'Come down,' Jay shouted. 'No. You have no right over me'. 'I said, come here, now,' he yelled and sighed. Then his voice became calm. 'Babe… I know… We will get them. Please, come down…' She gritted and hit the wheel repeatedly. The car honked as she did so. He wasn't fazed by her action. She burst into tear. 'No, Jay… Don't talk. A.K, make him deaf or make me able to resist his charm'. After a while, she came down, and Jay ran into the car, switched on the music player. He grabbed her, hugged her, and made her rock in the rain. She wept into his body as he played their favorite song, 'Cheek to Cheek' by Ella Fitzgerald. 'Why didn't you read my message?' 'I removed the blue tick. You've been manipulating me with them'. Three days later, the leaders of the syndicate were ratted out to EFCC with hard, irrefutable evidence. They would be in jail. Their death might not be what she wanted, but she still got her justice, and she knew where it came from. 'It wasn't from you, spineless author. It's from my Jay. He did it. You're just…. Well, Jay did it'. Inspired by 'Cheek to Cheek'- Ella Fitzgerald. 4/90 http://www.writertain.com/222/blue-death-activation-ticks |
Ann2012:Thanksssss |
HisGrace0000001:Thanks. The story was about to take over and proceed to a novel but I had to cut it short. |
In 21 days, Timi had gone from being a good church girl to tasting her first bottle of alcohol, to trying her first cigar, to going to a club, and becoming deflowered. Or should we say the order happened backward? Her calamity started the night she was deflowered. Ige, her soon-to-be-ex-boyfriend, coaxed her to let give up her most prized virginity. She heeded him and true to his words, she really had pleasure and didn’t bother about the pain that followed. That night, she left his place with tears streaming down, not out of sadness but with a heart of joy. He did love her and had proven it numerously. So, it became strange that the next few days, she saw his Whatsapp presence as ‘Online’ but he was refusing to chat her up. This was after they had talked on the phone and he lamented about the way he allowed her to go. He felt he should have prevented her from leaving so he could sit across her and adore till they both grow old and the soil packed their decayed body. ‘I think…’ Timi said and gritted in her hostel. Kenny, her roommate, glanced at her from her phone. She was always naked and would still have to rush to wear something whenever anyone knocked on their door. Their floor mates were used to her and were careful enough to knock every time. Kenny rolled-over on the bed. ‘Are you sure you’re fine?’ Timi nodded. Kenny sat up, and Timi had to look away, disgusted. ‘You should cover this table mat,’ Timi grumbled. ‘You say what?’ ‘Get dressed. Yuck!’ ‘I’m wearing my skin. I don’t need animal on my body’. Timi glanced away and stared at her phone. She was used to it. She expected that Ige will be wise enough to see that she missed him and saw him online. But the idiot wasn’t sending her message. Now, she understood that he was playing her. They called him the grandfather of the players but her naivety had plunged her into his rocking arm. Now, she was on a landslide. ‘You were saying something before you began admiring my body,’ Kenny asked, batting her fixed eyelashes. ‘I don’t know… I’ve been played…’ ‘By a boy? That grandfather of players?’ Timi hesitated and nodded. ‘Well, tell me what you feel. You know I’m the real g. All these holy holy things you do will not save you’. ‘My virginity…?’ ‘Sex? He wants to have sex with you? All these boys that’s what they want. Give him…’ ‘I did. But now, he’s always online, but he won’t have my time’. ‘Hmmm… The player has deflowered you!’ Kenny yelled. Timi scrambled out of bed and covered her mouth. She strained her ear to listen for any reaction from their floormate. When she was sure the ground was free, she released Kenny. ‘Keep your cool.’ ‘Babe… Welcome to the party’, Kenny hailed. Timi narrated her fear to Kenny and, after a while, Kenny helped her own up to the truth. ‘You know. I know. We both know. He’s a cheat’, Kenny announced. Timi knew but couldn’t just bring herself to accept the truth. Now that she had eaten the sour grape, she had to deal with her edgy teeth. Thus, she prepared her mind for any eventualities. One day, she confronted Ige with her fear. ‘C’ mon. We can’t be talking all day and most of the time…’ ‘Oh! We can’t be talking all day. Why then are we dating? What are you saying? Just tell me… Let me know if I’m not… Don’t you want to be my Bf anymore?’ ‘With this attitude, I’d have to consider it,’ Ige replied, and that became their first official fight. She couldn’t take her mind off it. So, when Kenny presented her with the opportunity to party, she couldn’t turn it down. It was at this party, she had her first taste of alcohol, cigar, and had her first taste of drainage water. On the way home, she stumbled into the drainage, and that caused an uproar among the ladies she went with. Many of them laughed their heart out with tears greasing their hand. She wept as she knew she would surely give in to another guy very soon. However, as soon as she rose from the gutter water, she noticed something strange. The people around her were more than those she came out of the club with. These new people now wore white gowns. She rubbed her eyes, and when she couldn’t comprehend it, she pointed at them. ‘Who are those?’ Everyone with her rolled over laughing with tears. She assumed she was hallucinating until the next day. When she got up, she saw these people. Only that this time, they were two. She yelled and jumped off her lying position. ‘I still see those people,’ she shouted. Kenny roused out of her sleep, stared at her for a while, and returned to sleep. ‘Hangover.’ Timi was too scared to yell again. These people were carrying clay pots. The one beside Kenny carried a new clay pot while Timi’s own was broken to half. ‘Who are you?’ Timi muttered. ‘Shut up!’ Kenny moaned and covered her ears with a pillow. ‘We are the guardian of virginity,’ replied to the person beside her. ‘We carry goodness with us in this pot. Your pot was broken by the man that is not your husband. But if he eventually marries you, the pot will be mended. Yet, the scar will be there’. ‘You’re lying. Why is Kenny’s pot new?’ ‘Because she’s still a virgin!!!’ ‘You’re lying!’ Timi raged. ‘Keep shut!’ Kenny yelled and jumped out of bed. ‘Reduce your volume.’ ‘You’re a virgin!’ Kenny swallowed hard and looked about and at Timi’s phone. ‘Who told you? How did you know?’ Timi slumped into her bed. ‘Oh! God!’ ‘You people are all lying,’ she screamed. ‘Please, we will deal with this later,’ Kenny said and crashed into the bed again. ‘No, we are not lying,’ replied the person with her. ‘That’s why she’s always favored.’ ‘I’m a Christian. I should get better ones’. ‘Well, this is a principle of God and life. We just act on our roles. Other messengers are doing his bidding. They also share their own portion of favor and goodness’. She rose and looked about. ‘So, I must marry that stupid idiot.’ She grabbed her phone and sent him a message. ‘He’s still online. Reply me… Idiot’, she lamented and turned towards the messenger. ‘How come I’m the only one seeing you? What if I don’t marry this idiot’? ‘Well, I don’t know. But I can assure you that your pot will be broken when you meet a new man or even this man. But this man gives you the chance to have it restored with few scars around it’. ‘Get out!’ She yelled. ‘Ohohoh! Keep it low!’ Kenny yelled. ‘As to why you? The divine saw your tears in the gutter and counted you worthy of having a glimpse of what you miss if you continue this path’. Although it took a while for her to get used to it, she finally discovered that many people- male and female- have just a few pieces of their pots left. Later, she discovered that Ige’s was always in reading through people’s Whatsapp status instead of actually replying real messages. This revelation, coupled with that from the messengers made her start a sex education program called’ Remaining On-Line.’ Inspired by Ikoko Akufo- Beautiful Nubia Day3/90 |

Eponymous:It's simple! You know I have several stories situated in Fortune City. But instead of using random meaningless names of companies, I feel people should use their own company's name. With that, we are promoting people brand and still writing a 'damn' good story But I need people to earn whatever name they get. So, the points will be a way to get these properties. |
Ann2012:Thanks... At least before, we rage or insult God, who will overlook it as a loving father. Now, we just lose all hope. |

I started a 90-day Flash fiction challenge. Here is today's version With messages from one of these four people: 1. Mali Music 2. Asa 3.Beautiful Nubia 4. Ella Fitzgerald Today is Beautiful by Mali Music.... lyrics of song under... Day 1 Broken Status If you have ever the seen the sun set, you will understand the way Kunmi watched with awe as the one he loved, Lolade, enjoyed her birthday, making him wish he could do something better for her. As expected of him, her pictures adorned every post in his status. Everyone was aware of how much he loved her. In fact, anyone oblivious of this fact would have definitely seen the countdown he did for her from the first day of the July to the eighth day of the month. This love was glaring and he couldn't deny the way she screamed her delights for his love for her. Understanding how boisterous she could be in such time as this, he wished he could do more but there wasn't anything he could than to show her his love. As an unemployed graduate, the highest he could do was to get himself money for Whatsapp with which he got data to do all the regular posting of pictures. Life had been horrible enough and he wished his lack of financial ability will not rid him of the joy he had. Just then, he saw three lines on her Whatsapp status. Since that morning, the circle had been growing per time. He even referred to them as growing beads and would have loved to avoid them if it wasn't her special day. 'This is too much', he grumbled as he glanced at the first of the three pictures. Like the ones she posted that day, it was the status of her numerous fans, friends, families and admirer telling her how wonderful she was. He hissed and tapped the right side of his phone's screen as his mind wandered off to the long messages of love he sent to her and the way he made a fool of himself by trying to sing with his croaky crude voice. But then, the next line caught his attention. Oh my God! I can't believe it. Kunmi sat up and stared into the phone. Holding it firmly to ensure the status didn't switch to the next, he stared at the illustrious cake someone gave. Though small, it reek of wealth. Seeing this, he sighed. At least, someone appreciated her on his behalf. However, the next post rattled him. He sat at the edge of the chair as the video refused to play. It froze at the point she started unwrapping a carton. Kunmi clicked back and clicked the right side again and the video started. She unwrapped the box of an Iphone8 with shaky excited hands. Kunmi swallowed hard. He sent her an emoji showing he was happy for her. If the truth crawled out of his hands to her message, she will definitely cause a scene even without his presence. Then, the third status was a series of other petty gifts. He sat back as he let the line of the third status roll off. But then, he noticed the number of the lines had increased. This is nothing, he assured himself. But it was a useless hope because the next one was another video of her screaming her head off. She had just been presented a car by her Abuja friend, Ife, whom they had always quarreled about, whom he always feared she compared her to whenever they were on bed or having any discussion. He couldn't reply this one like he did the others. With his hands on the status, he regretted ever been born into his family or even waiting for luck and expertise when he could have been another yahoo boy. He released the status with trepidation because the video continued. "Oh my God! Oh my God!' She screamed as Ife, the Abuja friend, went down on his knee and asked her to marry him. She screamed her 'yes'. He stared blankly as his phones rolled off to play the same videos on the statuses of her friends. They garnished the videos with spicy words of gratitude to God. Kunmi wondered if many of them never knew him. He went on to type a serious threat to her but stopped his hand as he decided that he must call her. So, he borrowed money from Etisalat. As if reading his thought, they were quick in sending it. He got a 3-day data plan from the five hundred naira he borrowed. For a while, she rejected his call and after a while he just couldn't reach her again. He tried calling Uchendu, his friend and the call got connected. She didn't give him the chance to explain what happened before she started ranting about how much of a bad person Lolade was. Kunmi nodded as he couldn't say much. He tried talking but words evaporated off his mouth. 'Have you seen her latest status, where she wrote 'Goodbye to Failure. This ship has sailed', Uchendu yelled. He shook his head. 'No'. 'Go and see it. She's a devil. Oh! I feel like strangling her and finishing all my anger on her. Witch! Ah! Women are animals! That ship that sailed will sink. Don't do anything stupid'. He nodded and disconnected the call. The cold from nowhere that was rocking him couldn't let him stay focused but when he finally got himself, he tried to see her status. It was nowhere to be found. Few minutes later, Uchendu found him, sprawled on the ground, the video repeatedly playing on his phone, and an empty bottle of sniper lying by his side. That became his last Whatsapp status ***The End***. http://www.writertain.com/218/broken-status |
