Although fat Goldfish are a common occurrence in the world of fishkeeping, Dropsy is a major cause rather than the extra feed most people will attribute it to.

This causes the fish to have a swollen belly. Dropsy is also called "puffy cheeks" or "fat Goldfish."

But what exactly is Dropsy? And why do fat Goldfish look so puffy? Here's what you need to know about this disease, and how to keep your fish healthy by recognizing symptoms early on.




What Is Dropsy?
Dropsy is a disease that causes your Goldfish's body to become swollen due to excess fluid retention. The condition usually occurs when the fish's internal organs become congested with excess watery fluids, hence resulting in a bloated Goldfish.

When you see a puffy Goldfish with a fat belly, it's probably because it's got too much water in its system. That excess water can be due to a variety of factors including stress, diet, or an illness.

The main culprits behind Dropsy are parasites like tapeworms and flukes that enter through wounds on your fish's skin or through its gills (which may make it easier for them to get into your tank).

Symptoms of Dropsy include:
1. Coughing: Coughing up mucous or frothy bubbles from the mouth is a sign all is not well with your Goldfish.

2. Activity: A fish that's less active doesn't seem like itself. Goldfish need to keep moving to ensure blood circulation.

3. Abdominal Enlargement: This is a major sign of Dropsy in Goldfish. Dropsy in Goldfish will cause them to appear bloated and grow large belly as if a balloon were being inflated. Usually, when these symptoms appear, it shows the condition is advanced and immediate action needs to be taken.

4. Eyes Size: If you notice the eye of your Goldfish is beginning to puff up and enlarge, it might just be a sign of Dropsy.

5. Scale Protrusion: Normally, the scales in Goldfish are lying flushed, but when you notice they are beginning to protrude, giving them a "pinecone" appearance, then Dropsy should be suspected.

6. Fin: A healthy Goldfish swims with its dorsal fin upright, but if Dropsy develops, it could look floppy. On the opposite fins, you can see the lining and bleeding streaks.

Why do Fat Goldfish look so puffy?
Goldfish with a fat belly results when a fish's internal organ becomes congested with fluids. It can be difficult for them to release their natural medicines or hormones into their bloodstreams without causing excessive swelling in other parts of their bodies as well—which can lead to further complications down the line! This is because these organs are located inside the body wall.

If your Goldfish has Dropsy symptoms then there are some things you can do to help your fish heal:

· Ensure you are feeding your fish regularly and providing enough oxygen for them to breathe.

· Decrease the temperature in their tank and/or give them extra light so that they won't feel as hot or cold as much as they would if they were at room temperature.

· Clean all surfaces surrounding the fish Tank thoroughly with warm water and soap (do not use abrasives or bleach).

· Ensure there are no leaks in tubing or valves attached to the tank! If there are any holes in these connectors where excess water may escape into other parts of the house (such as under sinks), seal them off immediately by applying thick layers of duct tape over each hole.

· Always monitor your fish closely for signs of illness such as lethargy, poor appetite (or no appetite at all), and swelling around their face or fins.

· If your fish has started looking puffy, you'll want to take them out of the water and keep them safe until they can be seen by a vet. If you have several fish, make sure that none are showing symptoms of the disease before taking them out of their tank so that none will spread the disease further.

Hello Nairalanders.

I feel like seeking your advise about how I can accelerate the process of returning the money that I guess was wrongly transferred to my personal bank account.

About two months ago, I received credit alert of about ₦200k in one of my savings accounts. Based on the narration of the credit alert, it shows that It was done through ATM and I did not do any transaction to have been expecting such money.
I have been expecting to get alert for reversal of the transaction but the money is still sitting in my bank account.

I have also been expecting my banker to have contacted me for approval to reverse the transaction but I have not been contacted by my banker.

I was considering the option of complaining to my banker to trace the owner from their ends but some people discouraged me from doing so; stating that those bankers may conspire with someone and falsely claim the money.

I have been thinking of possibilities of tracing the owner by myself but credit alert did not state the details of the account from which the money was transferred to my bank account.

I am feeling concerned for the person who did the transfer because his fund has been tied down.

A banker told me that the owner must have complained to his/her bank but banks ways of attending to the customers complain is slow but definitely they will contact me for reversal.

Do I keep my fingers crossed and be expecting my banker to contact me for reversal approval?
or
Complain to my banker to help me locate the owner of the transaction?

Or any other suggestions will be welcome from you but my objective is to hasten process of returning the money to the true owner.
