Good evening everyone, please I would appreciate some guidance on this matter.

My niece, who is 27 years old, previously had a visa application refused about seven months ago. She reapplied two weeks ago, but unfortunately, her application was refused again.

In the recent application, the bank statement submitted showed an opening balance of ₦1,138,480 and a closing balance of ₦8.3 million. However, the Entry Clearance Officer stated in the refusal letter that the closing balance was ₦1,138,480, which appears to be incorrect.

I would be grateful for advice on the best way to address this issue. Thank you.

I didn't understand that I had to pay for prime time or assisted service to enable me to get a date, so for that application, I paid $1305. I believe it might have increased a bit now.

Yes, but I had a driving offence I declared. I believe that, out of negligence, I forgot to indicate that even when I have paid the penalty, it might cost me the application. So in case we have any issue, we should always not forget to declare or overlook it as a minor case.

He is a distant Uncle; we have different surnames. I didn't prove or submit any proof because when I applied for my first UK visa (6 months) in June 2021, it wasn't as tough as this when they hammered on providing a connection. Maybe it was, but from my observation on the forum then, I didn't see any of such. Getting a visa then, with his sponsorship, had created proof for this present application.

They don't work weekends, but refusal email can come on a Saturday, I have seen one before.

I paid 80k or 80 something for prime time, I tried searching for a free date for almost 2 months but wasn't successful. The best you can do is pay for assisted service to get date, I think the amount is cheaper around 40k. I don't think it is possible to get a free date these days.

Yes I just got my email around 11:30 am this morning with my DHL tracking number, hopefully it will deliver tomorrow, max Monday before evening. I believe your email should drop today max Monday evening.

Good day, I think you just have to give it little time to get either of the emails, you can't get ur passport if an email hasn't been sent, sometimes application process takes longer than expected, also varies with other applicants experience, it might be sooner or later, it doesnt determine if it is successful or unsuccessful. Tomorrow, Friday makes it 3wks completing my biometric, though my travel date is for Christmas, there is lot of time to wait.

1. Touts are outside ASO ROCK, they are outside the WHITE HOUSE in America,
even the USA embassy website recognised them and says " beware of touts outside the embassy gate.

2. I was hoodwinked into lot of money 3 times outside the embassies (despite being born and bred in Lagos) before my eyes were finally opened. The truth is, very few applicants in some tight situations will always need their services by all means (except if they want to forfeit their appointment and turn back home), but the most important is to always familiarise oneself with application procedures.

3. @djbaju thank God for your life and sorry for your loss.

I hope people will eventually see this info before their application date, so that they will not get scammed too. I got in 6:45am came out 9:15am, I was on the waiting area for over 1hr 20 mins before it got to my turn, there are just 2 counters conducting interview for close to 80 people, and 1 of them takes a break after a few task. In my over 1 hr standing I say just 4 people got the white sheet. 1 clergy man, 2 Nigerian familys; husband and wife no children and 1 indian family consist of Mother and her 3 children. The rest na baba blue. 3 of it came from 1 counter the second counter seems like a sadist na so so blue. Make we go dey chop UK dey go and other European countries ire oo

Sorry about your experience. Those touts have been using the same tricks for ages. They present themselves as experts and ask applicants to carry out unnecessary tasks in order for them to earn dishonest money. Eg they would ask applicants to staple- it will turn out the embassy doesn't need the staples. Imagine if one then pays the ridiculous amounts the touts charge and the visa is denied. It would be extremely infuriating!

As djbaju said, ignore them 100%.

Thank you for the update, I got the receipt eventually, but when I got to Walter Carrington the touts outside were telling people to print another receipt that carries the cgi logo, they said this calmly like they really want to help you, but when i got inside I asked one of the staffs and he told me I was scammed, I saw almost every of the applicant with that same receipt meaning they paid 30-25k, cos the story they are cooking is that without the CGI receipt, one will be turned back. I negotiated to 15k, maybe many people will be able to negotiate too and pay like 25-20k, the bottom line is that I got scammed and other people that fell for that story too. I want to advise anyone that sees this and is going for an interview no matter the persusation pls don't make a photocopy or print out of your data page, or any other document that is been preached to you, it is a scam they don't ask for many things those guy always use scope to sell it to people. DS160, Appointment letter and your receipt are enough. Main docs

1. Since you are a GTB account holder why not walk into the bank and complain? They can initiate the reprint from your online or mobile account or simply visit the main bank if you had paid physically, perhaps payment history can be retrieved.

2. If nothing works, i have experienced very few people who attended VISA interview without MRV receipts, because MRV payment reference was indicated in their VISA appointment letters , and these applicants were victims of robbery attack enroute the US embassy.

PS: I am not very certain, but you should be allowed on the ground of a genuine reason.

1. I will just summarise that your DS-160 confirmation number must be the same that reflects on your VISA appointment letter (this is the major reason for need to update every new or updated DS-160 inside your given application portal). If, after submission your DS-160 aligns with your VISA interview appointment letter, then you do not need any update, otherwise, you have to.

2. You seems to have not received the introduction email for you to have a profile on the new website ? I believe you are still going to prior to your interview day.

* If you did not fill another DS-160 or edited the previous one, then you do not need to update your DS-160 (except, if your DS-160 is more than 1-year). If you have done so, you will have to update your DS-160 to align with your visa appointment letter as explained in sense-1 above.

* Navigate your new portal very well, there should be an option to update your profile , otherwise raise a ticket on the subject of profile updating.

Good morning boss, sorry for getting you confused, and thanks for the input, Regarding the refusal, from my experience with UK visas, I will quote the application number in the box, in case I misplace my refusal letter, I will just write in text that I was refused in this (year) but I misplaced my refusal letter.

Also, I only made an edit on my DS160 form and I had the application number updated in the old portal before it was closed, my fear is just that the new information added will be available to them, I don't think I can create an account on the new portal if an email is not sent to me on the registration process if I need to create a new DS160 and update on the new site since I had a future appointment scheduled before August 26.

This is a mixed up/confusing question

1. Well, go ahead and fill another DS-160 and update it in the new website. The USA embassy will not do the update for you, and as you update it, you must also print another visa appointment letter to tally.

2. If the embassy would be going on holiday they will update all VISA applicants affected on that day (via email) , and ask you to print another appointment letter.

3. On DS-160, a section asked " have you been refused visa before , tick yes and give the brief explanation or on which section are you trying to input your 2017 visa refusal ?
