Two Women Apprehended while attempting to Kidnap a Six-month-old Baby in Rukpokwu, Rivers State

Two women were apprehended by residents in Rukpokwu, Port Harcourt, for allegedly attempting to kidnap a six-month-old baby.

According to the child's mother, she left the baby with her two sons while she went out to buy food.

While she was away, her eldest son came to inform her that two unfamiliar women had entered their room. Thinking the child was joking, she initially paid little attention to the report but later decided to return home.

On returning home, the mother discovered that her baby was missing. She immediately raised an alarm, and a resident reportedly informed her that two women had been seen carrying a baby towards a motorcycle.

Community members quickly mobilised and intercepted the suspects before they could leave with the child. The baby was rescued safely, while the two women were apprehended.

The incident has sparked concern among residents, with calls for a thorough investigation by security agencies..

UUTH management clears air on EFCC incident, gives reason why hospital is partially shut down

The management of the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH) has clarified circumstances surrounding the incident involving operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) within the hospital premises on Tuesday, 12th May 2026, insisting that several narratives circulating on social media misrepresented the situation.

Speaking during a Press Conference on Wednesday, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Prof. EmemAbasi Bassey, said the hospital was not at war with the EFCC and maintained that the institution enjoys a cordial relationship with both the anti graft agency and the Nigeria Police Force.

According to him, “UUTH is a federal government institution and the only publicly accessible tertiary hospital in Akwa Ibom State. We serve as a place of last resort for millions of citizens. Every day, between 600 and 800 patients come here for treatment. It is unfortunate that the hospital has been partially shut down because of this incident.”

He lamented the spread of misinformation surrounding the development, explaining that the management had initially refrained from making public comments in order to handle the matter professionally.

“A lot of false narratives have flooded the social media. Unfortunately, bad news spreads quickly. That is why it has become necessary for us to set the records straight,” he stated.

Prof. Bassey explained that the matter began with a letter dated 20th April 2026 from the EFCC, requesting authentication of a medical report belonging to a suspect. He said the hospital received the letter on 21st April and immediately forwarded it to the appropriate department for action.

He, however, disclosed that a letter reportedly issued to the hospital on the same account written on 11th March was never received by the hospital.

“I stand here to state clearly that the only letter we officially received was the one dated 20th April. Immediately it arrived, it was minuted to the appropriate office for necessary action,” he said.

The CMD further explained that delays encountered during the process were administrative and procedural, adding that officials later discovered that the medical report in question was fake.

“When the file was eventually retrieved, we discovered that some persons had opened a fake folder with no proper hospital documentation attached to it. The medical report being circulated did not originate from the official records of this hospital,” he explained.

He alleged that there might have been a collaboration between external actors and some individuals within the system, stressing that investigations should focus on how the fake medical report was obtained.

“We have seen several fake medical reports purportedly issued by this hospital in the past. The EFCC and the police should investigate how the lawyer involved obtained that document because there may be insiders collaborating with outsiders,” he added.

Prof. Bassey also denied reports that EFCC operatives came to arrest him or other top management staff of the hospital.

“At no point did they come looking for the CMD, the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee or the Director of Administration. They went directly to the office of the doctor handling the authentication process,” he said.

According to him, the doctor had already prepared a draft report confirming that the medical document under investigation was not authentic before the operatives arrived.

The CMD condemned the manner in which the operation was allegedly carried out, insisting that proper procedures were not followed.

“When security agencies enter a federal institution like this, they should first notify management and state their mission. There are rules of engagement. Hospitals are sensitive environments and should be treated with caution,” he stated.

He said the situation escalated after staff members allegedly challenged the operatives for failing to properly identify themselves and for attempting to arrest a senior medical officer without presenting a warrant.

“There was confusion because people saw armed men dragging a professor out of his office. Staff became agitated. The matter degenerated into chaos that could have been avoided,” he added.

Prof. Bassey disclosed that he immediately contacted the Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom State after receiving reports of unidentified armed men within the hospital premises.

“The Commissioner of Police responded promptly and said he would send officers to the hospital. At that point, I did not even know they were EFCC operatives,” he said.

He noted that the situation later deteriorated, with reports of tear gas, gunshots and destruction within the hospital environment.

“What happened did not have to escalate to this level. If proper procedures had been followed, hundreds of patients would not be suffering today,” he lamented.

The CMD revealed that he later visited the EFCC office where detained staff members were eventually released after discussions with senior officials of the commission.

“When I got there, the senior officers treated me courteously. We had fruitful discussions and my staff were eventually released. Unfortunately, the damage had already been done because of the social media narratives,” he said.

Also narrating his experience, Deputy Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, Prof. Eyo Ekpe, said he resumed duty on Monday after an official assignment outside the state and immediately continued the process of verifying the controversial medical report.

“When I resumed on Monday, I combined the responsibility of verifying the medical report with my clinical duties and teaching engagements. I even invited the Head of Internal Medicine Department to review the diagnosis contained in the report,” he explained.

He further reported that he was harassed and unjustly arrested by EFCC operatives during the operation.

Meanwhile, the leadership of the workers’ union at the hospital denied reports that workers had embarked on strike action.

The Chairman of the Joint Health Sector Unions and Senior Staff Association within the hospital, Comrade Akanubong Asuquo, clarified that workers only suspended duties temporarily because of safety concerns.

“We are not on strike. We only suspended duties for the sake of our safety,” he said.

The hospital management appealed to the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information capable of worsening the situation. It also assured residents that health personnel had been deployed to critical units, including the Emergency Unit, Intensive Care Unit and Special Care Baby Unit, to ensure that patients continued receiving essential medical attention.

EFCC Grills Suspected Fake Lawyer for Forged NBA Seal in Lagos

Operatives of the Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, Ikoyi, Lagos have commenced an investigation of a suspected fake lawyer, John Anoruo, for possession of a forged seal of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA.

Anoruo, who operates a legal and educational consultancy in the Ikorodu area of Lagos, was arrested by EFCC operatives on Monday, April 20, 2026.

His case began after he submitted a petition dated September 22, 2025 to the EFCC, on behalf of his clients, against the management of a company, Global West Vessel Specialist Nigeria Limited.

However, investigations revealed that both the petition and the subsequent Letter of Withdrawal dated March 5, 2026, bore a forged seal of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, which Anoruo confessed to have obtained from an undisclosed business centre in Lagos.

During investigations,the 55-year-old claimed that although he obtained a Law degree in 2018 from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu State, through evening classes, he did not attend the Nigerian Law School.

The suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

Federal High Court Thrown Into Panic As Woman Dies Over Alleged NDLEA Negligence In Benin City.

NSCDC SPECIAL INTELLIGENCE SQUAD SMASHES CRIMINAL NETWORK, ARRESTS 16 SUSPECTS OVER ALLEGED KIDNAPPING, ARMS DEALS, ILLEGAL MINING AND COUNTERFEIT CURRENCY OPERATIONS

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), through the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad (CG-SIS), has recorded a major operational breakthrough with the arrest of 16 suspects linked to a network of alleged criminal activities across Kano and Edo States.

The coordinated intelligence-driven operations were carried out in collaboration with the NSCDC Kano State Command and operatives attached to BUA Cement Company, Okpella, targeting individuals suspected to be involved in kidnapping-related activities, illegal mining, unlawful possession of firearms, criminal trespass, and counterfeit currency dealings.

Preliminary investigations revealed that some of the suspects were allegedly involved in the movement of illegal arms, while others were apprehended in connection with unauthorised mining activities within restricted areas around the Okpella axis of Edo State.

During the operations, NSCDC operatives recovered locally fabricated rifles, suspected charms, mining tools, and materials believed to be connected with the production of counterfeit foreign currency.

The Commandant General of the NSCDC, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, commended the operatives for their courage, vigilance, and professionalism, emphasizing that the Corps will continue to deploy intelligence-led operations to dismantle criminal networks threatening national security and economic stability.

He further directed that investigations be intensified to track down other suspects currently at large and ensure that all those found culpable are prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The Corps reassures Nigerians of its unwavering commitment to protecting lives, safeguarding critical national assets, and supporting the nation’s internal security architecture.

The Anambra State Police Command has revealed a male suspect, Ifesinachi Ezeolu aged 28 years as the person inside the violent conduct displayed during the outing of a masquerade in Awgbu community. This follows widespread public concern and reports of assaults and intimidation of residents in the occasion.

Tompolo signs Deal With American Firm to Supply Tantita With Advanced Drones to Fight Oil Theft

American defence company, Textron Systems, has signed a deal to provide three advanced drones to Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL), a private security company owned by Chief Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo.
The drones—Aerosonde Mk. 4.7 vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS)—can take off and land vertically without needing a runway.

The firm, in a statement shared on its website and dated December 29, 2025, said the systems, which will be provided in a fully ITAR-free configuration to facilitate international export, are designed to operate without the need for runways, using hybrid quadrotor technology to enable vertical takeoff and landing.
Textron said it has also included options for additional aircraft and training support to allow Tantita to expand operational capabilities.

“The Aerosonde Mk. 4.7 VTOL UAS is a mature, highly reliable, and industry-proven autonomous solution that will provide Tantita Security Services with transformational capability to execute their security operations,” said David Phillips, Senior Vice President of Air, Land and Sea Systems at Textron.

“The Aerosonde system’s demonstrated performance and benchmark-setting reliability will enable the Tantita team to expand its capabilities to protect the oil and gas infrastructure essential to Nigerian security and prosperity.”

The contract builds on a history of Aerosonde deployments in challenging environments worldwide, including operations from over 10 U.S. Navy ships. The system, capable of carrying multiple payloads and operating in both VTOL and fixed-wing modes, has amassed more than 700,000 flight hours internationally.

Textron Systems said that the sale represents a significant enhancement for security operations in Nigeria, particularly in high-risk sectors where oil and gas assets remain vulnerable to disruption.

The company also noted the option for further acquisitions and training to strengthen Tantita’s operational readiness.
Tantita Security Services, a recognised provider of comprehensive security solutions in Nigeria, is expected to deploy the Aerosonde systems for surveillance, rapid response, and infrastructure protection missions, with the goal of improving situational awareness and operational effectiveness in the Niger Delta and other sensitive regions.

This latest contract underscores the growing role of uncrewed systems in national and corporate security operations, reflecting a shift toward technologically advanced solutions for safeguarding critical assets.

Textron Systems, a subsidiary of Textron Inc., is known globally for its uncrewed air, surface, and land systems, as well as products in the aerospace, defence, and industrial sectors. The Aerosonde Mk. 4.7 VTOL UAS represents the company’s latest development in versatile, autonomous security platforms designed to operate reliably in diverse and demanding environments.

Delivery dates for the Aerosonde systems have not been disclosed, but Tantita officials are expected to announce operational deployment plans in the coming months.

Alleged Terrorism Financing: EFCC Arraigns Bauchi Commissioner, Three Others for $9.7m



The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, arraigned Bauchi State Commissioner for Finance, Yakubu Adamu, Balarabe Abdullahi Ilelah, Aminu Mohammed Bose and Kabiru Yahaya Mohammed before Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court, Abuja.

They were arraigned on a ten-count charge bordering on conspiracy, conversion of public funds and alleged terrorism financing contrary to Section 2(1) and Section 19(1) (d) and punishable under Section 19(2)(b) of the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.”



Prosecution Counsel, Samuel Chime informed the court that the matter was for arraignment, praying that the charge be read to the defendants.

“We have a ten-count charge dated 30 December, 2025 and filed on the same day.”



One of the counts reads; “That you Yakubu Adamu (being Commissioner for Finance, Bauchi state Government), sometimes in the year 2024, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, did receive cash payments in the sum of Six Million, Nine Hundred and Fifty Thousand United States Dollars( USD 6,950,000) otherwise than through a financial institution, and you and offence contrary to Section 2(1) and Section 19(1) (d) and punishable under Section 19(2)(b) of the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.”



Another count reads; “That you Yakubu Adamu(being Commissioner for Finance, Bauchi State Government) Sirajo Jaja (being Accountant-General of Bauchi state now at large), Samaila Irmiya Liman(now at large), Balarabe Abdullahi Illelah, Aminu Mohammed Bose and Kabiru Yahaya Mohammed (all being civil servants and signatories to Bauchi State Government Accounts and/or payment instruments), sometimes between January 2024 and May 2024, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, did conspire to provide funds in the aggregate sum of about Two Million, Three Hundred Thousand United States Dollars (USD 2,300,000) in cash for the benefit of Bello Bodejo and persons associated with him, pursuant to approvals granted by the executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Muhammed, having reasonable grounds to believe, that the said funds would be used, in whole or in part to finance a terrorist or terrorist group, and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 26(1) and punishable under Section 21(2)(a) of the terrorism(Prevention and Prohibition)Act, 2022.”



They pleaded “not guilty” when the charges were read to them prompting prosecution counsel, Samuel Chime to ask the court for a trial date. “We will be asking for a date to enable us to open our case.” Chime said.



Responding, the defendants counsel told the court that the defence have filed separate motions for bail on behalf of the defendant. “We filed separate motions for bail in respect of the first, second, third and fourth defendant and all the motions were filed on the 30 day of December 2025.” He added.

In his response, Chime stated that the prosecution have been served and have already filed a joint counter-affidavit.

“We have been served, we filed a joint counter affidavit yesterday, my lord, 30 December 2025,”



Justice Emeka Nwite thereafter adjourned the matter for ruling on the bail application to 5 January, 2026, while remanding the defendants at Kuje correctional Centre.

EFCC to OPAY : Make Compliance with Regulations Your Watchword

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr. Ola Olukoyede has charged the management and staff of Opay to make compliance with existing regulations a watchword to ensure business integrity and block avenues for money laundering and fraudulent practices.

Olukoyede gave the charge in Abuja on Thursday, December 11, 2025 when the Chief Executive Officer, CEO, Opay, Mr. Steven Wen led other top managers of the financial institution on a courtesy visit to the EFCC headquarters.

The EFCC boss, who spoke through the Chief of Staff, CoS, to the Chairman, Commander of the EFCC, CE Michael Nzekwe stated that one of the mantras of Olukoyede was using the instrumentality of anti-corruption to stimulate growth in the economy. He, therefore, charged the managers to keep faith with extant laws in running their business.

“ Work on Know Your Customers, KYC, don’t give room for fraud, don’t allow your company to be used for money laundering and comply with every law of the land”, he said. While further emphasizing the need for compliance, he commended Opay for considering local content in its employment policy.

“Your ninety-nine percent local employees are very good, we must commend you for that, but then again it is also important to reiterate the need for compliance with local laws. It is very important because you have to ensure that it is not just by word of mouth but more by action that you comply with the local laws.

Also speaking on the need for compliance, Director, Investigation, Commander of the EFCC, CE Abdulkarim Chukkol reiterated the need for systems integrity adding that Opay must ensure it safeguards itself against insider abuse in the company.

“Systems integrity is also very important to look at, secondly the KYC, it is not enough for us to say let us just follow only what the CBN has given us, but again, you have to go the extra mile. I also want to give advice on the people that you employ, sometimes insider abuse is very rampant, no matter how tight your system is, when you bring in somebody that can do and undo, then definitely everybody is at risk”, he said.

Earlier in his presentation, Wen disclosed that compliance with regulations, customer satisfaction and revenue generation are priorities his company considered very important.

“The most important thing in our company is compliance with local laws, compliance with local regulations, second is customer certification, how we use innovative solutions to solve our customer problems to provide them value. Then, number three is how to grow our revenue. We believe that compliance with the law is a red line we cannot cross”, he said.

EFCC Arraigns Peace Corps Commandant, Director of Finance for Alleged N60m

The Abuja Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday 11, December, 2025, arraigned the Commandant of the Nigeria Peace Corps, Dickson Akon and the Director of Finance of the Corps, Omolala Aminat Ahmed, before Justice H. B. Yusuf of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT High Court, Abuja.

The defendants were arraigned on a two- count charge bordering on criminal misappropriation of funds allocated to the Corps

Charge one reads: “That you, Dickson Akon and Omolola Aminat Ahmed in the year 2024 at Abuja, FCT, within the jurisdiction of this honorable court did agree among yourselves to do an illegal act, to wit criminal misappropriation and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 96 of the penal code laws of the FCT.”

Count two read: “That you, Dickson Akon and Omolola Aminat Ahmed in the year 2024 at Abuja, FCT, within the jurisdiction of this honorable court did agree among yourselves and dishonestly converted to your personal use the sum of N46, 000, 000, 00, (Forty Six Million Naira only) out of the sum of N60.000.000.00, (Sixty Million Naira, only) meant for the execution of contract for the supply of badges.

The defendants pleaded “not guilty” to all the charges when they were read to them.

In view of their pleas, prosecution counsel, Khalid Sanusi, asked the court for a date for the commencement of the trial.

Justice Yusuf adjourned the matter till February 25, 2026, and granted the defendants bail in the sum of ₦5 million (Five Million Naira only) with one surety each in like sum. The sureties must be of a reputable character and must be resident in Abuja.

The Imo State Police Command has announced a major escalation in its ongoing crackdown on kidnapping and violent criminal activities along the Owerri–Aba Expressway, following new intelligence that prompted a comprehensive security operation in Umuhu Autonomous Community, Ngor-Okpala. On Saturday, December 6, 2025, the Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, led a high-level delegation on an investigative tour of suspected criminal hideouts connected to the wanted suspect, Stanley Morocco Oparaugo, who is currently evading arrest.

The inspection team comprised key government officials and local security stakeholders, including the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Chioma Egu, Chief Pathologist of the Imo State Specialist Hospital, Dr. Ibeaja Okechukwu, as well as the leadership of the Ngor Okpala Vigilante Group headed by Mr. Henry Ikpe. Also present was the Chairman of Ngor Okpala LGA, Hon. Mrs. Chika Ibekwe, who joined the collaborative effort to uncover criminal operations threatening community safety.

During the operation, the team visited a hotel and a privately owned mortuary linked to the suspect, both of which intelligence reports indicated were being exploited by kidnappers and other violent criminals. The discoveries at the mortuary were deeply disturbing, with officials finding decomposing and mutilated corpses stored in hazardous and unhygienic conditions. These discoveries intensified fears of possible illegal organ-harvesting activities and reinforced concerns about the extent of criminal operations in the area.

EFCC Arraigns Man, Company for Alleged N23m Theft in Lagos

‎OTI JONATHAN IDOWU AND BOUNDLESS MULTI SERVICE SOLUTION NIGERIA LIMITED, on or about 24th July, 2020, in Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, stole the sum of N3,000,000.00 (Three Million Naira only), property of one Umar Lukmon Agbomhere through Umaru Salmot, thereby committing an offence of stealing, contrary to Section 278(1)(f) and punishable under section 285(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.”

‎The defendant pleaded “not guilty” to the charges when they were read to him.

‎In view of this, prosecution counsel, A. M. Dambuwa, asked the court for a trial date and also prayed for the remand of the first defendant in a Correctional Centre.

‎Counsel to the defendant, I. O. Lala informed the court of a pending bail application and also prayed for a date for its hearing.

‎Justice Okunuga adjourned the case till December 3, 2025, for the hearing of the bail application and held that the date of the commencement of trial would be determined on the same day.

The Judge also ordered that the first defendant be remanded in the Ikoyi Correctional Centre.

NDLEA busts illicit drug warehouse, recovers N6.7 billion opioids, arrests baron, 5 others

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) continued their offensive action against drug syndicates in a nationwide crackdown with the dismantling of an opioids cartel in an intelligence-led operation during which a baron Onyekachi Pius Nwanagu and five members of his gang were arrested with illicit substances worth over N6.7 billion recovered from their secret warehouse in a residential estate in Lagos.

Following credible intelligence that the drug trafficking organisation (DTO) was about distributing over 7.2 million pills of tramadol 225mg and 526,200 bottles (52.6 million mls) of codeine syrup warehoused in a residential compound located at 23 Sunny Billa East Street, Bucknor, Isheri area of Isolo, Lagos state, ahead of the Christmas festive season, officers of a Special Operations Unit of NDLEA led a well coordinated operation between Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th November 2025 to round up members of the syndicate and dismantle their criminal network.
Two members of the DTO: Egbo Innocent Udalor and Chukwe Emmanuel were trailed and arrested at Apple Junction, Festac area of Lagos on Wednesday 19th November while conveying 300 cartons of opioids in a truck. A follow up operation to the syndicate’s warehouse at Sunny Billa East Street, Bucknor the following day Thursday 20th November led to the arrest of Onyekachi Nwanagu and other members of his syndicate including: Nwoye Sunday Ali; Nnacho Ogochukwu; and Oraghalia Chukwuebuka Philip.

In all, a total of Seven Million Two Hundred and Seventy Two Thousand (7,272,000) pills of tramadol 225mg worth Three Billion Nine Hundred and Sixty Million Naira (N3,960,000,000) and 53 million mills of codeine syrup valued at over Two Billion Seven Hundred and Sixty Two Million Five Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N2,762,550,000), bringing the combined value of the seized drugs to Six Billion Seven Hundred and Twenty Two Million Five Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N6,722,550,000.00) only in street value were recovered and moved out of the estate in eleven trucks to NDLEA’s central exhibit complex in Lagos.

While commending the Commander and operatives of the Special Operations Unit as well as those of Strike Force Unit involved in the dismantling of the syndicate, Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd) praised the officers’ professionalism and dedication, describing the breakthrough as a major blow to the cartels preying on Nigeria's youth.

"This is not just an arrest; it is a clear and unambiguous statement. The seizure of this colossal volume of illicit drugs, which could have fueled addiction, crime, and insecurity across our nation, represents a victory for the Nigerian people and a confirmation of our unwavering commitment to the mandate given to us by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu", Marwa stated.

He emphasized that the Agency's focus remains squarely on the kingpins and financiers of the illicit drug trade. "The days when drug barons thought they were untouchable are over. The arrest of this drug baron and his criminal cohorts, following an intensive intelligence operation, serves as a stark reminder that the long arm of the law will eventually catch up with every merchant of death, no matter how high or deeply concealed they think they are."

EFCC Arraigns Supermarket Manager for Alleged N547 million Fraud

The Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday November 25, 2025 arraigned one Evangeline Atanda Ibadha before Justice (Professor) C. A. Obiozor of the Federal High Court sitting in Benin City, Edo State.

Ibadha who was the former manager of JustProtein, a Supermarket Store in Benin City was arraigned on a five count charge bordering on stealing by conversion and diversion of funds to the tune of N547,307,016( Five Hundred and Forty Seven Million, Three Hundred and Seven Thousand, Sixteen Naira only )

One of the count reads:

“That you Evangeline Atanda Ibaha (f) on or about the 1st day of November,2022 within the jurisdiction of this honourable court did indirectly take possession and control of the of the sum of Ten Million Five thousand naira (N10,005,000) which was paid into your account No. 4990092639 domiciled with Eco Bank operated by you which sum you knew or reasonably ought to have known forms part of the proceeds of your unlawful act to wit: stealing by conversion and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 18(2) (d) of the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition ) Act 2022 and punishable under section 18(3) of the same Act.

Another count reads” That you Evangeline Atanda Ibadha (f) sometime between January 2018 to January 2025 within the jurisdiction of this honourable court did indirectly take possession and control of the aggregate sum of Three Hundred and Nineteen Million Three Hundred and Thirty Five Thousand Two Hundred and Sixteen Naira (N319,335,216.00) which was paid into your account No. 3007525066 domiciled with First Bank Plc operated by you which sum you knew or reasonably ought to have known forms part of the proceeds of your unlawful act to wit: stealing by conversion and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 18(2) (d) of the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition ) Act 2022 and punishable under Section 18(3) of the same Act.

Upon arraignment, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against her by the Commission, prompting the prosecution counsel, I. M Elodi to pray the court to remand her at the Correctional Service and fix a date for trial. However, defence counsel, Evans Ogbeifun prayed the court to be an interim surety to the defendant pending the filing and determination of the bail application.

Justice Obiozor adjourned the case to December 8, 2025, for hearing of the bail application.

Operatives of the Benue State Police Command have arrested three key suspects linked to the brutal attack on Anwule community in Ohimini Local Government Area of the state, where several residents including a pastor were m8rdered.
The suspects include Isah Peter and Moses Peter from Agatu LGA, alongside a Fulani herdsman.

Isah, who served as acting commander of the Eguma community vigilante group, allegedly deployed a community-owned firearm during the operation in Anwule.

Nigerian actor and content creator Odira Nwobu has reportedly died in South Africa, five months after surviving a serious car accident along the Lagos–Ibadan expressway. Independent sources confirmed that Nwobu passed away over the weekend, reportedly due to complications from high blood pressure (HBP).

The news of his death was confirmed on X by one of his close friends, IDC (Igbo Merchant), who wrote: “I can confirm to everyone that Odira Nwobu is dead. He was my friend and colleague. I just spoke with his manager… Odira, please come back.”

Addressing a mammoth crowd at his country home, Ikot Ekpene Udo, where he hosted the people, the Governor assured everyone of his determination to drastically transform them economically with a series of business grants.

Governor Eno who noted that the beneficiaries of the empowerment scheme were selected from each of the 11 Wards of the Local Government Area, added that the programme will be periodic to ensure that many people benefit from it.

During the maiden engagement, each of the selected beneficiaries from the different Wards of the Area received a cheque of N500, 000 to engage in any legitimate businesses of their choice.

"With this N500, 000 given to you today, ensure you utilize it properly in a productive business for your own growth and well-being that will positively impact on your family and communities," he said.

Governor Eno also reaffirmed his commitment to "bringing infrastructural development home," stressing that several roads in the area have already been assigned for immediate construction and solar-lighting to give them their pride of place.

A Bayelsa woman, Late Madam Afuwari Ego, has been laid to rest in a uniquely designed Coca-Cola bottle-shaped casket in Emeyal 1 community, Ogbia LGA, Bayelsa State.

The images were captured by a blogger Ogbara Walson Henry, who said the unusual casket drew attention during the funeral ceremony, attracting residents and guests who described it as a creative and memorable tribute.

Family members revealed that she loved Coca-Cola so much, which inspired the decision to bury her in the Coca-Cola bottle-shaped casket. She died at the age of 85.

EFCC Arrests Female Archbishop for Alleged Naira Abuse

Operatives of the Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday November 18, 2025 arrested one Archbishop Angel Oyeghe for conspiracy, naira mutilation and suspected money laundering.

The self-acclaimed Archbishop who is the founder of Faith Healing Ministry, Warri, Delta State was arrested following a viral video where several individuals under her supervision were seen spraying naira note on a live cow during a church programme.

The Commission is on the trail of arresting other suspects as their action contravenes the provision of Section 21 of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007.

Archbishop Oyeghe has made useful statements and will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

A Nigerian Army officer, Lt. Samson Haruna, has died after sustaining severe burns when his wife allegedly set him ablaze during a domestic dispute.

This was made known on Tuesday in a post on X by counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama.

Makama said the tragic incident occurred on Sept. 22, 2025 at Wellington Bassey Barracks, Ibagwa, Abak Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom.

According to the security expert, “a source said the officer, who was also a medical doctor attached to the 6 Battalion Regimental Medical Officer, RMO, had a heated argument with his wife, Mrs. Samson Haruna, which resulted in her dousing him with petrol, PMS, and setting him on fire.
