RESIGNATION OF MY MEMBERSHIP OF THE PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY (PDP)

I write to notify Your Excellency, The Senate President - Nigeria, the Senate leadership, and the entire Nigerian Senate of my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) effective from July 15, 2022.

I must admit that the Official Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Nigeria has offered me the opportunity to serve in several capacities in government over the years, including serving as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and I remain grateful to the party to that extent. However, it is now clear to me and my supporters that the center can no longer hold in the Akwa Ibom state chapter of the PDP since the party hierarchy decided to adopt and favour only one preferred candidate before and during the governorship primaries.

The determination of the state chapter of the Party to support the preferred candidate could not even be halted by every attempt to call for a level playing field and its associated controversies.

In view of the foregoing, the agitations have led to serious rancor and some steep differences in the ranks of the party, and this had presented me with a compelling reason to consult my people on our future in the PDP. I must state that my supporters had earlier presented me with a nomination form after paying for the same to encourage me to contest the party primaries for nomination of the Governorship candidate of the party but unfortunately, events leading to the party primaries for the governorship made it impossible for me to participate in the primaries.

Therefore, I am constrained to bow to the wish of my people who have advised that in view of the state of affairs that exist now in the party, I should resign my membership of the party.

As a result of the foregoing, I resigned my membership of the PDP and now joined the Young Progressives Party (YPP), which has now become my new party.

I thank you for your support and understanding. Please accept my sincere regards.

The Akwa Ibom State Government has approved the payment of gratuity to retired primary school teachers in the State.

The Acting Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Iniobong Akpan, who disclosed this, said the payment of the gratuity will be done in batches.

According to him, the commitment of the Government to pay the affected retirees was aimed at ameliorating the sufferings of the teachers, stressing that Governor Udom Emmanuel was determined to clear the backlog of gratuities in the State.

The Acting Board Chairman further noted that Government will ensure orderliness in the payment of the backlog of gratuities to the affected retirees.

2023: Ibiono Ibom stands agog as OBA registers Membership with YPP

Earlier today, Monday, 18th July, 2023, the Standard Flag Bearer of Ibiono Ibom State Constituency, Comrade Moses Essien , joined teeming indigenes of the area as the senator representing Akwa Ibom North East, Sen. Obong Bassey Albert Akpan, along side with his wife, Pastor (Mrs) Imaobong Albert, signed up membership with Young Progressives party, YPP, at Use Ndon, Ibiono Ibom Chapter.

Few hours after the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, declared the governorship candidate of PDP, Senator Adeleke, the winner of the Osun State election which was held yesterday, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Abdullahi Adamu, have stated that he is not aware that APC lost the Osun State election.
Despite the fact that during the declaration of Senator Adeleke the winner of the election, several television channels and news media were present to show the live coverage of the declaration, Abdullahi Adamu maintained that he is not aware that Adeleke won the election.

Furthermore, Abdullahi Adamu stated that as for him, all the things that has been said about the election are just speculations. Abdullahi maintained that he must formally hear from INEC before he will be in the position to reveal the next action that APC will take. According to Abdullahi, he always read newspapers every morning before having his breakfast and he did not see the news that APC lost the election.

According to Abdullahi, the figures that the media has been reporting are speculations because the media is not INEC. It is important to note that the official result of the election has been made public by INEC. It will be understandable if someone feels surprised that the National Chairman of APC did not follow the live announcement of the result.

For now, the position of APC is that the party will wait until INEC sends the official result of the Osun State election directly to APC. Abdullahi note that it is only after the party gets the official result directly from INEC that the party will announce the next line of action.

The Nigerian singer, songwriter and actress, Simisola Bolatito Kosoko, better known by her stage name Simi, has taken to social media to react after a Ugandan girl jumped on Adekunle Gold on stage while performing at his concert in Kampala.
Adekunle Gold held his concert in Uganda, which turned out to be the biggest uptown concert of the year in the country. The event featured top known artists, like the likes of Costa Titch, a South African artist, and other local artists like Daddy Andre, Kataleya and Kandle, Slick Stuart, Roja, Vinka, Sheebah Karungi, and John Blaq.
However, while Adekunle Gold was performing on stage, a Ugandan girl jumped on him and rocked him, but he quickly pulled her away and continued his show.
On seeing this, Simi took to Instagram to reply to Adekunle Gold's post. "That's why they are jumping on you," she said. She told him to wear his shirt. However, Adekunle Gold replied with a laughing emoji.

AKWA IBOM POLICE COMMISSIONER TASKS OFFICERS ON CLEANER ENVIRONMENT

... Applauds AKSEPWMA For Outstanding Performance

The need to dispose off refuse appropriately to prevent the spread of germs and diseases in the environment was emphasized, Friday, by the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State command, CP Durosimi Olatoye.

According to the Police boss who recently assumed office as the 31st Commissioner in the State, most of the ailments and common diseases Nigerians were suffering from, are linked to dirty environment.

CP Olatoye dropped the hint while playing host to the Desilting, Vegetation Control and Waste Evacuation teams of the State Environmental Protection and Waste Management Agency (AKSEPWMA), who were carryingout their routine work in Ikot Akpan Abia community, including the headquarters of the State Police command.

Quoting the famous proverb; “Cleanliness is next to Godliness”, the Police Commissioner refered to it as a wise saying. He added that benefits of keeping environments clean and tidy were enormous, pointing out that, it would help dwellers to maintain healthy body and sound mind.

He lauded the Chairman of AKSEPWMA; Obong Prince Ikim, for his conscientious efforts in interpreting the vision of the Governor in the agency and however, called for residents' support and cooperation with AKSEPWMA to help them carryout its herculean task.

Responding, Chairman of the agency, Prince Ikim, congratulated CP Olatoye on his recent promotion to the position of the Commissioner and subsequent posting to Akwa Ibom.

Ikim, himself a top Security expert stressed that, Akwa Ibom remains one of the most peaceful, safe and secure States in Nigeria, assuring that the Police helmsman will enjoy his stay in the State.

He said that the time has come for the agency to solidify the already existing relationship with the police and relevant stakeholders to rid Akwa Ibom of reckless waste disposal and all kinds of environmental pollution.

While eulogizing the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, for his massive support and opportunity to work for the people of Akwa Ibom, the AKSEPWMA boss promised that the State will maintain its status as the ‘Cleanest State in Nigeria’, one of the many achievements he has made for the State since assumption of office in 2018 to 2021 - four consecutive years.

Highpoint of the exercise was the inspection of landfill site within the Police headquarters, where the agency evacuated and sanitized. It had CP Durosimi Olatoye and other top echelon of policemen alongside men of the AKSEPWMA.

Illegal Drinks Factory Uncovered by Ekid People's Union at Okon Eket:

....Launch a Combing Operation in Search for More!

The highest socio cultural organization of Ekid nation, Eket People's Union today combed all the nooks and crannies of Okon Eket geopolitical zone, in search of illegal factories which has in recent times being causing serious health hazards and enviromental degradation to the inhabitants of the area

This is coming on the heels of the excessive damage caused to the afang farm owned by a poor widow, Mrs Nse George Iyanam at Ikot Okudom, by dangerous substances suspected to be fumes from lead through burning of armoured cables by a neighbour who deals on electrical and allied materials.

Over the weekend, the President General of the union, Dr Samuel Udonsak ,in company of some executive members paid a fact finding and sympathy visit to the site and were shocked to see the extent of damage done to the only source of livelihood of the widow who lost her dear husband in 2006.

Based on this, the union wrote a strong worded letter to the Ministry of Environment, Uyo and other related agencies to look into this burning issue, in order to get to the root of the matter and proffer long lasting solutions on how to stem this ugly tide and nipped it permanently in the bud.

The combined team was led by the Eket Council boss, Rt Hon Akan Tommey , security operatives made up of the police, civil defence, state security services , top officials from the Enviroment Ministry, local government officials, Okon Youth Council and other relevant stakeholders.

Two illegal factories that deal on fake , adulterated and assorted hard drinks, wine were discovered in Ikot Abia and arrests made by law enforcement agents . Speaking with the press, the cracked team from the Ministry of Environment vowed to leave no stone unturned in seeing to it that Eket LGA is totally rid of fake products which constitute a nuisance to both humans and environment.

The Vice Chairman of Ikot Okudom Village Council, Mr Uwem Tom was full of praises to the Council boss, the apex Ekid union and the security agents for coming to restore peace, order and providing succour to the inhabitants of the ravage torn area.
He vowed to report any dubious person with questionable source of livelihood to the eagle eyed security agents

The Divisional Police Officer, Eket , Mr Sunday Digha , the PDP Standard bearer for Eket State Constituency, Dr Nsidibe Akata , Mr Jack Daniel Etteh of EPU, Eket Council Secretary, Hon Uso Hanson , the Supervisor for Environment, Mrs Stella Etukakpan , Eket Labour Chairman, Mr Godwin Ndueso , were part of the team among other dignitaries.

Mrs Udeme Akpan travelled out on official duties. She was expected to spend 5 days but as fate would have it, the programme only took 3 days. Since she could not reach her husband on phone, she decided to return home unannounced.

At home, her children told her that their father had a female visitor the moment she left and that the lady has been with them since then. On hearing this,she became so furious and jealous.

Learning the lady was in the visitor's room, she peepped: lo and behold, the lady was there; even putting on her wrapper. She quietly went to the kitchen and boiled water in her very big kettle. As the water was boiling, her husband drove in.

The husband went straight to the visitor's room calling out: 'MY LOVE I'm home.' not knowing his wife was also around.

The wife was even more angered when she heard that and said to herself 'today, God must receive 2 visitors.'

She took the hot water she boiled in a big kettle which had already reached 100 degree centigrade and made garri (ÈBÀ) with it for three of them - Husband, Herself and the Mother In-Law in the Guest room, while children ate Noddles.
