Mechanic Village in Uyo boils as Igbo Community clashes with indigenous workers

A popular settlement along Abak road in Uyo, popularly known and referred to as Mechanic Village is currently having a serious physical combat between the indigens and the Igbo community workers.

The fight which has left many injured began at the early hours of today. Currently, no life is lost as the men of the Nigeria Police Force are fully on ground to maintain peace.

The actual cause of the clash is yet to be identified; but rumours has it that, a member of the Igbo community hit an Akwa Ibomite almost to death which led to a counter attack by indigenes of Offot clan.

At the time of this report, the fight seems to have overpowered the men of the Nigeria Police. Information from one of the officers who pleaded anonymous assured of a joint task force backup from the men of the Nigerian Army.

Dorothy Nabulime who appeared in a viral video inflicting bodily harm on her 2 year old daughter has been sentenced to 18-month in jail.

Why are we always snapping Government project at night hour?.

A four-storey building collapsed in Uyo today at around 5:30pm leaving some people trapped inside the rubble.

The incident happened at Iman Street, off Aka Road.

The building was supposed to be a six-storey building. The contractors were on the fourth floor when it collapsed.

Residents of the area, who gathered around the scene of the collapsed structure, appeared unable to help the situation.

There are strong indications that some of the people who were working inside the building are still trapped in the rubble.

Officers of the state fire service commenced rescue operations about two hours after the incident

Uruan people in Akwa Ibom state have this miraculous tradition they display.

Don't get it twisted, this is tradition that have been practiced in many generations in Uruan and you will only witness this in Villages like Idu, Mbiakong and Ifiayong.

The people in the pictures are not harmed but they are getting freed from demonic spirit who have been tormenting them for ages.

In this traditional festival so many things occurs, like;
1. planting of plantain sucker and it grows that day and bear fruit that same day
2. Turning leaves to money
3. Sand metamorphosed to Cooked rice
4. Putting water into basket and none drops
5. Human killed by gunshot , buried but he will come back to the burial ground alive, etc.

Some see it as a diabolic practice but of a truth, it is the tradition of Uruan that harms no one.

This event or traditional display takes place once in every two years✌

Davido’s logistics manager, Israel Afeare is about getting married.

The socialite made this known after releasing his pre-wedding photos.

Israel got engaged to his girlfriend in April this year. He posted his pre-wedding photos on his social media this morning and disclosed that his wedding comes up in October.

Nollywood actor, Moses Armstrong, has denied the rape charges recently leveled against him.

Armstrong, a former aide to Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa HeIbom state, was arrested last month for allegedly raping a minor he adopted. He was charged with rape, intimidation, conspiracy and supplying of drugs or instruments to procure abortion.

He was sent to prison, however on August 11, a High court in the state granted him bail.
His friends came out enmass to receive him as he was released from prison after perfecting his bail condition. They also took to social media to celebrate his release.

In a post shared on his Facebook page yesterday August 16, Armstrong stated that he isn't a rapist and that his experience in prison was awesome as God went with him ''#NoOneButGod....

INIBEHE EFFIONG, ESQ., SUES THE CHIEF JUDGE OF AKWA IBOM STATE, HON. JUSTICE EKAETTE FABIAN OBOT FOR ENFORCEMENT OF HIS FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS TO LIBERTY AND FAIR HEARING.

Recall that on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, the Chief Judge of Akwa Ibom State sentenced Human Right Lawyer, Inibehe Effiong Esq., to one-month imprisonment for contempt of court.

Consequently, an application was made for the release of a Certified True Copy (CTC) of the Court Proceedings to secure the lawyer's release but the Chief Judge has continuously refused to release copies of the said proceedings together with the order convicting the Human Rights Activist, Barr. Effiong.

In a Facebook post made by Barr. Augustine Asuquo, he stated that; “Sequel to the continuous refusal by the Chief Judge of Akwa Ibom State to release copies of the proceedings together with the order convicting the human rights activist, Barr. Effiong made since 27th of July, 2022 in compliance with section 36(7) of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria as amended despite a repeated application to that effect, we were forced to file a fundamental rights enforcement suit yesterday at the Federal High Court in Suit No: FHC/UY/FHR/170/2022 against this flagrant impunity in the system in order for my Lord to be compelled to comply with the extant laws of our land.”

“It's beyond imagination to see that the wilful refusal to release copies of the said proceedings has precariously affected and frustrated all material efforts made by Inibehe's legal team to appeal against his conviction including his release from prison custody. Today is making exactly 20 days since this remand order was made by His lordship, yet all efforts made to access the proceedings have been abortive. By provision of section 36 (7) of the constitution cited above, the court is under a duty to produce its order, judgment, or proceedings within 7 days of making same.”
