Travel / Re: U.S Visit: Port Of Entry Interview/stories. by djPyper: 9:49pm On Jun 29, 2017
Zeng:
Hi everyone. I am travelling next month on a student visa. Its within the earliest arrival date on my I-20 and just a day after my visa becomes valid but almost a month before my school orientation.

The school is in California but I booked a ticket to Houston because my sponsor lives there and I will be at her place till its close to my orientation date.

Is there a chance that I might have problems at POE since the address of residence I chose was the school but I will first be going to her place?

Her name and address are listed on my DS-160 as my sponsor.
Hi, there is nothing wrong with you travelling a few weeks to resumption as long as its after your earliest date of arrival, however you might be asked two important questions, why you are arriving so early and why you are arriving in Houston and not california, if you're able to explain well that you are meeting your sponsor to make arrangements for school fees payment, insurance and all that before connecting to california you should be fine. goodluck.
p.s it might also help if you have a ticket for the 2nd leg of your journey from houston to california.

Goodday House,

I hope I will not derail this thread neither do I intend to take this thread back.

My sister wish to study nursing in the USA we are looking at colleges in Houston area. Please advice on the cheap college and requirement if you have passed this route.

Thanks and God bless u all.
You can choose to take the bsc route which is about 4yrs and graduate as a registered nurse, but if you decide to take the community college route this is far cheaper and you spend less time time schooling but you get an associate degree as a licensed vocational nurse or Certified Nurse aide. Houston community college is a popular choice, the CNA is 1yr while LVN is two years but LVN is a higher grade and pays more. If you didnt study nursing before you will have to take some prerequisite courses before you begin the actual program. You can check the school's website for more info

though I very much support the baker, but I dont see him winning at the supreme court, this is america, the headquaters of peversion, at the end of the day it is a case of discrimination, its just like saying you cant bake a cake for a couple because they're black, its a lost case already, he should just bake the cake and mix small gammalin or sniper inside.

Politics / Why Are African Nations So Poor And Backward? by djPyper: 4:18am On Jun 11, 2017
Basically, since about the beginning of the 16th century, Europe has been going around, seeing other peoples’ shiny things, and then taking those things through either trickery, force, or flags. After taking the shiny things, European countries as a whole thought, “Well, that was pretty easy. Why don’t we set up shop here and shake them down every once in a while?”.

And thus European imperialism was born!

It was, needless to say, exceptionally bad for the natives. In Latin America’s case, the new colonists and their descendants didn’t have it much better. Spanish absolutism set a precedent for dictators, corruption, and general shiftiness that they’ve only really started recovering from in the past few decades.

Meanwhile, in Africa (which I’m assuming you’re referring to with “black countries”), they had it even worse. Now, don’t get me wrong; I’m not saying that the various African tribes and petty kingdoms that existed before the Europeans arrived were some sort of egalitarian utopia that imperialism ruined. They were pretty shitty and oppressive too in a lot of places. But however bad they were, the Europeans were magnitudes worse.

The Europeans laid claim to huge swaths of Africa and exerted their dominance over Africa, sometimes by using local nobles and warlords as puppets, others by just killing everyone who got in their way. Then, for, oh, nearly a century or so, various European countries extracted as many resources from their African possessions as possible, treating the locals, at best, as a subhuman nuisance, or, at worst, as a source of slave labor. To prevent these people from rising up, any attempts at true self-government, innovation, or development were stamped out. The Europeans didn’t care about developing the colonies either; any infrastructure built was usually for the sake of obtaining and moving resources, and rarely explicitly for the well-being of the natives.

So, come the 1950s and 60s, Europe is totally broke from a solid fifty years of self-mutilation and can’t really afford to keep their colonies in check. Cue decolonization, in which pretty much every European nation handed their colonies a map drawn without their (the natives’) input or permission, full of arbitrary and poorly thought out borders, a gun with which to defend those borders, and left completely on their own to figure out how to govern themselves with absolutely no infrastructure or knowledge to do so with.

The result? Hundreds of millions of Africans from dozens of countries begin applying the things they learned as a people and culture over the past century: violently oppress the opposition and forcibly extract shiny things from those weaker than you.

Once these sorts of things take hold, they’re exceptionally difficult to fix. Just think about it - the US and Canada were brought up with a tradition of self-government and popular sovereignty initially introduced to them by Britain itself; one would be hard-pressed to turn either of these countries into brutal juntas without decades of war and social engineering.

That being said, many countries seem to be making significant strides in the direction of democracy and prosperity. Don’t count Africa out just yet.

Zeng:
Please for those that have gone to Lagos consulate:

My visa interview is tomorrow. I know some items were listed on the confirmation page as items prohibited at the consulate. Do I have to come empty handed apart from my documents, or is there anybody that helps people keep their belongings?

Make I know if I go just jeje leave my phone for house.
you should go with just your documents but if you must take any of the prohibited items with you, there are people close to the entrance that can keep it in a secure locker for you at a cost of about 1k.

You are right but the method is no longer working for over 2 years now and I don't know if they have enable it back or you did or someone did it recently that you are aware off.
They must have reenabled it because I did the exact thing today, I went on my profile and erased the former code then put it a new one, I printed a new appointment confirmation and the change was reflected

to me I feel debie being here is doing her more harm than good, cos she aint gon win that 25mill, she was already quite known before bb, all she needed to do was come out with some good music and promote it well, now she's in the house just revealing all her insecurities and flaws, I voted for her last week tho I just have a soft spot for her
