Ifedith, thanks for the gingering me because I decided to update no matter what the outcome will come out to be and for those who scared me to hell, I know you were trying to advise me to be careful but I updated today without all those bootloader unlocking stuffs. Am now on MIUI v10 as the pictures will show. I took nitrazepam and left it to update expecting the worse but it was smooth. Thank you all.

I still can't decipher the logic in this notion of not using small generator to charge phones. The phone uses 5v DC and the charger takes in the 100-240 AC and coverts it to DC, there is a smoothening capacitor in the charger that removes all the harmonics and other smart integrated circuits to protect your device, so am still asking what is the logic behind the small generator spoiling phones because I know that if there should be any power surge as the small generators don't have avr, it is the charger that gets burnt and your phone never gets affected. If my analysis is wrong, can you enlighten me.

You can't go wrong with either, the Lenovo has bigger screen(also higher screen to body ratio too), memory card slot, 3.5mm jack, and Android 9 out of the box going for it, while the Xiaomi has an Amoled screen and Miui is better than Zui. It's looking like a tough choice but will personally pick the Mi 8 SE over the Lenovo.

No vex sir, I rechecked the picture you sent, was your baseband and MIUI version same when you were in MIUI v9 ?cos you already updated to MIUI v10 and that might be what changed the baseboard number but am in v9.

Though I'll be patient cos am still talking with xiaomi customer care via email to confirm if my ROM is fake.
I just don't want to unlock my bootloader for anything.

I just confirmed from the jumia customer care and he confirmed my phone was bought from a xiaomi official outlet.

Like seriously, you had a .TA and downloaded an update and it installed without issues?
Am having a glimpse of hope here cos I just want to use the phone the way it is.
Going through the pages, I saw some about phone of people with some starting with .TA and others with numbers.
I was already panic8 cos everything in my phone is Chinese, the carton is Chinese, the manual and user guide is Chinese and at first setup I saw only Chinese and English as options.

I think ur rom is original. If it came without Google play store. I strongly believe it's original.

Mine came without Google store, I did the install myself after watching a video in YouTube but someone highlighted that my phone has a fake ROM because the baseband started with .TA and not a number.
Am really confused because I don't just want to tamper with my phone as in all these bootloader stuffs and custom ROMs

So the way forward now is to unlock the bootloader first and flash the original ROM but can I flash MIUI v10?

Still wondering why a seller would flash a fake rom that is still Chinese rom when he/she could have easily left the official Chinese rom that came with the phone. Did your phone came sealed?

How do you mean that the ROM ain't original?
I bought it from jumai.
The installed OS version of MIUI is still the same with the update version.

Please I have the redmi 6 pro and will need a good covering for it like all those 5d tempered glass stuffs and a good stereo HiFi bass Bluetooth handsfree not those headset types that do have fm and memory card slot and that the music time can last up to 12 hours cos am a heavy user and too tidy for scratches on my screen. Thanks in anticipation for a prompt response.

Not all phones have a locked bootloader, majorly network based phones are those that have their bootloader locked like the verizon, AT&T, Sprint etc.

To me it is safer and faster to unlock bootloader and install custom rom or even a stock rom utilising custom recovery mode. Ota too is safe but slow and risky especially in nigeria with crappy network access.

Phones are now ever so smart that if you unlock bootloader and try to install a rom not meant for a particular phone, the installation will always terminate, I have experienced it in galaxy Note 2 before.

The only warning I have is to ensure you read about the particular rom (Resurrection remix, lineage OS etc) and that particular version bug whether it is stable or not before installing.

A bugged OS can damage your phone or render it useless for life

My brother it is like I've grown too old with installing all these custom ROMs, I can remember when they made me mad that I had to subscribe to weekly and daily updates, if you can remember the cynogen or so days, Android especially this Oreo is so smooth, customisable and sweet. I'd prefer staying off tweaking anything in my phone for now that xiaomi is still updating it till they stop. One thing with all these custom ROMs in those days was that something or one of its features must be broken and you'll always be panting for an update that will fix the bug. Am just too busy now to go through those again.

People most times get themselves into problems that can be avoided.
Okay imagine me in this Nigerian economy, because my guy jayD who earns better cash than me got married, I'll follow suit cos of pressure and in the long run put the life of my prospective wife and children in danger of being denied the basic healthy life and education.
How can my parents suffer to put through good schools then later on to have my children go to subpar schools, Nope! I can't try that, imagine you are selling bread and you are married, like serious, what will happen to your wife now you are incapacitated. It is not a must that everyone must marry as I consider marriage as not an achievement but just an incentive. If later on you make enough cash to afford more comfortable life, and you know your age wouldn't get you the right lady, why not adopt a kid or two, you'll still enjoy whatever the person who sired theirs themselves. And poor people making priority of male child which makes most of them have too many kids in this bad economy, being an inconvenience to brothers and uncles.
I must enjoy my life and no one will deny me that.
