A man has married the corpse of his late wife following his inability to perform her traditional rites when she was alive in Onitsha city in Anambra State, eastern Nigeria. The marriage attracted many dignitaries from both the couples’ families, friends and well wishers last Saturday in Onitsha city where both family reside. The couple lived as husband and wife without payment of her bride price or dowry and had six children before the wife fell sick and died. Thereafter, her family insisted that the man must marry the corpse by paying the dowry and returning the six children they had before the deceased would be buried. http://www.thelivefeeds.com/man-marries-wifes-corpse-in-anambra/ |

http://www.thelivefeeds.com/7-early-signs-of-type-2-diabetes/ Here are 7 early signs to watch out for: 1. Frequent Urination Also known as polyuria, frequent and/or excessive urination is a sign that your blood sugar is high enough to start to spill into the urine. Because your kidneys can’t keep up with the high glucose levels, they allow some of that sugar to go into your urine, where it draws additional water, making you have to urinate often. 2. Extreme Thirst Extreme thirst is one of the first noticeable symptoms of diabetes for some. It’s tied to high blood sugar levels, which cause thirst, and is exacerbated by frequent urination. Often, drinking won’t satisfy the thirst. 3. Increased Hunger Intense hunger, or polyphagia, is also an early warning sign of diabetes. Your body uses the sugar in your blood to feed your cells. When the cells can’t absorb the sugar (because of a lack of insulin), your body looks for more sources of fuel, causing persistent hunger. 4. Nerve Pain or Numbness You might experience tingling or numbness in your hands, fingers, feet, and toes. This is a sign of diabetic neuropathy, or nerve damage. You are most likely to experience this after several years of living with diabetes. 5. Slow Healing Wounds There are several reasons why a wound will heal more slowly if you have diabetes. Poor circulation, the effects of high blood sugar on blood vessels, and immunodeficiency are just a few. If you experience frequent infections or wounds that are slow to heal, it could be an early symptom. 6. Blurred Vision Blurred vision occurs early in unmanaged diabetes. It can be a sign of high blood sugar levels, which cause fluid to shift into the lens of the eye. This usually resolves when blood sugar levels normalize. 7. Dark Skin Patches Dark discoloration in the folds of your skin is called acanthosis, nigricans and is another early warning sign of type 2 diabetes. They are most common in the armpits, neck, and groin regions, according to the Mayo Clinic. The Takeaway If you have any suspicion that you may be experiencing the early signs of type 2 diabetes, talk to your doctor . As with most serious diseases, successful treatment and reduced risk of complications depend on swift diagnosis. Left untreated, type 2 diabetes can lead to lifelong impairment or death. Useful? THE Federal Government through the Central Bank of Nigeria, imposed stamp duty of N50 on bank customers for money received into their accounts. *File Photo File: Banking hall Consequently, bank customers will henceforth pay N50 stamp duty for money received into their accounts via electronic transfer, cash and cheques. This order was contained in a circular to all Deposit Money Banks and Other Financial institutions titled, Collection and Remittance of statutory charges on receipts of Nigeria Postal Service under the Stamp Duties Act”. The CBN stated, “As part of efforts to boost its revenue base, the federal government of Nigeria is exploring revenue opportunities in the non-oil sectors especially taxes and rates. It is in recognition of this fact that banks and other financial institutions are enjoined to support government’s revenue drive through compliance with the provisions of the Stamp Duties Act, LFN 2004 as reinforced by the court judgement in Suit No FHC/L/CS/1710/2013. In this regard, the CBN pursuant to the provisions of its enabling laws, hereby issues this circular to all DMBs other financial institutions: “With immediate effect, all DMBs and other financial institutions shall commence the charging of N50 per eligible transaction in accordance with the provisions of the Stamp Duties Act and Federal Government Financial Regulations 2009, that is, all receipts given by any bank or other financial institution in acknowledgment of services rendered in respect of electronic transfer and teller deposits from N1, 000 and above; “For all avoidance of doubt the following receipts are however exempted from imposition of stamp duties: payments of deposits or transfer by self to self whether inter or intra bank; and any form of withdrawals/transfers from saving accounts; It should be noted that these charges are only payable by receiving accounts; Source: http://www.thelivefeeds.com/fg-imposes-n50-stamp-duty-bank-account-holders/ Hence, if i am receiving payments from clients, i'd have to add N50 to my pricing...to cater for this stamp duty deduction... |

It was mid day of a lovely Thursday, was quite relieved that I've got a faster means of depositing cash to a client's account a.s.a.p. But it didn't turn out as expected. Really i'm not offended but not okay with a lie! It happened that my cash deposit of 1,000 naira notes was rejected by the deposit machine but one of the notes hung in the machine, visible but could not pull it out because the machine had almost splitted the 1,000 note into two. The security man on ground witnessed it and called their engineer immediately to find a way to get my 1000 note out of the biting deposit machine... Then it got to the customer service/operations manager, i filled their form after several minutes waiting and told to come back when the engineer has successfully opened the machine to retrieve my 1000 naira note which had been torn by the machine. Anyways, i returned after some days but this time the operations manager denied the whole occurrence. I moved on because its just 1k, if it was more than that, please what will you do?

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof AbulGaniy Ambali, has revealed how the introduction of the stand-alone Tablet of Knowledge (Opon Imo) into schools by the Osun state government influenced the decision by his institution to make it mandatory for every undergraduate of the university to have a tablet in the school. He said the university authorities realised that by the time pupils coming to universities from schools such as those in Osun would be gaining admissions, they would have been so advanced in the use of modern technology devices for learning that to bring them to any standards lesser than that would be a deservice to their orientations. http://www.thelivefeeds.com/osuns-opon-imo-inspires-unilorin-tech-drive-2/ |
Coughing is generally a good thing: it is a reflex action that keeps the airways clear of mucus, dust, smoke and bugs – and most coughs clear up by themselves within three weeks. But if a cough lasts longer than this and is getting gradually worse, it is worth seeing a GP. Breathlessness, coughing up blood, unexplained weight loss, persistent hoarseness or lumps in the neck are all warning signs that need urgent medical attention. The commonest cause In adults, the most common cause of a longstanding cough is upper airway cough syndrome, which used to be called postnasal drip. Some people are unusually sensitive to the discharge that drips back from the nose into the throat. There is no certain way of making the diagnosis, but if treatment with a daily oral antihistamine and a decongestant work within two weeks, then you have the answer. Both are available over the counter and can be used to control the symptoms. The caveat is that it is important to see a doctor if you have additional worrying symptoms or are unsure of the diagnosis. If there is an obvious trigger, such as dust, try to avoid it – though that is easier said than done. Never use nasal decongestants for long periods as they can exacerbate the problem. http://www.thelivefeeds.com/everything-you-ever-wanted-to-know-about-coughing/ |
The management of Okomu Oil Palm Company, located in Ovia North local government area of Edo state is set to employ 45,000 workers in its new plantation. According to the management of the foremost oil palm company, 600 workers have already been employed in the plantation which covers about 11,000 hectares. The Managing Director of Okomu Oil, Dr. Graham Heifer, who disclosed this in an interview with journalists shortly after a meeting with the state Commissioner for Agriculture, Prince Joe Okojie, said the company has spent over N2.5bn on the new plantation. He said in line with the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari, the oil firm was working hard to revitalize agribusiness in the country, even with the drop in prices of the commodities. Heifer stated that the company has embarked on corporate social responsibility in host communities such as grading of roads, payment of bursary to students, provision of water, providing boreholes and donating of vehicles to police to boost security in the area. The Okomu Oil boss said the company went through the proper route to acquire the land and that all the land titles have been issued by the state government. He called for the removal of multiple and illegal taxes to enable his company produce more and also increase revenue to the government. According to him, “the state government has graciously given us a portion of land in Ovia North East. We went through the proper route to make sure we purchase the land. They have given us the land title. We are happy that the government has been able to do this. “There is nothing to the contrary that say the government does not want to work with us. I am sure they will not do that. The President has said they should make things like this happen because it is important we find employment for the people. I don’t think the state government would have given us the land if they didn’t trust us. “We have employed over 600 people. If the government works with us, we can extend it to 45,000 people. I am sure that they will see the will to work with us. Together we will survive, apart we will fail.” http://www.thelivefeeds.com/okomu-oil-to-employ-45000-in-new-plantation/ |

Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Prince Chibudum Nwuche, has called on the Federal and Rivers State governments to be alive to their responsibility of protecting life and property in the state. He decried a situation where about 17 persons were killed in Ulu Apata and Ubata communities in Ahoada East Local Government in two days and the criminals went away scot free. Nwuche made the call in reaction to what he called “cold blooded murder” of people by cult members involved in cult war. He said more than 17 persons have been killed in Ulu Apata and Ubata communities by cultists. He said the killing-spree had nothing do with politics. Nwuche said: “From facts available to me they said distress calls were made to Ahoada Area Command Police Station, Ahoada, about 1 a.m. and no help came. And the hoodlums who are well known to police murdered over 17 persons in cold blood. I call on the Rivers State Government to be alive to its primary responsibility of protecting lives and property. “What is happening in the state in the last few months, especially in Ahoada alone is that over 40 persons have been killed and 50 kidnapped. This is not politics but pure criminality.” Nwuche, who is from Ahoada, called on the security agencies to secure the lives and property of the citizenry. “I call on the Federal Government to avert anarchy in the state and fish out the perpetrators of this crime. And something urgently has to be done by government about policemen in the Ahoada Area Command. “The Rivers State Government must live up to its basic responsibility.” http://www.thelivefeeds.com/ex-lawmaker-cries-out-over-siege-by-gunmen-2/ |

Press statement from the Nigerian Army... The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai has directed all officers of the Nigerian Army who have not declared their assets to do so immediately. He gave the directive today during a conference with Principal Staff Officers and Directors serving at the Army Headquarters. It is to be noted that the Chief of Army Staff has done so soon on his appointment as Commander, Multinational Joint Task Force in May 2015 and also on his appointment as Chief of Army Staff in July 2015. Copies of both are with the Code of Conduct Bureau. This directive is in order, considering the fact that all military officers are having Presidential Commission and are public servants, as well as subject to both civil and military laws. In addition, given the current drive of the country for probity and accountability, the Nigerian Army should not only key in but should be one of the key drivers for such laudable project. I am 29, and have always had a very difficult relationship with my father, who I suspect has narcissistic personality disorder. http://www.thelivefeeds.com/cut-father-life/ He is very controlling, and often contradictory and irrational in his actions and demands. I usually try to accommodate it, but in the past few years it has been getting worse; I dread each interaction with him. I am getting married in four months, and my father has declared he will not attend the wedding if my mother’s relatives are present. My mum left him, and he has decided to project his anger on to her family. He demands I uninvite them and does not understand why I am upset. Of course I will do no such thing, but wonder if I should use this as an excuse to cut him out of my life? |
