Poems For ReviewLagos Traffic by dnex(op): 12:01pm On Nov 07, 2008
Lagos Traffic, I hail you sir
CMS to Ikeja, only four hours
None can fathom how you perfected this art
Not even Fashola and his band of technocrats

Military sirens render music to thy ears
Honking motor horns only the baseline instrument
Flooding perspiration from our brows merely thy interest whet
You go out of your way to make of men adapts of burden

All of your agents strategically located
A dodgy pothole here, the eveready LASTMA there
Not forgetting of course your very favourite
The faithful twenty Naira roadblock a.k.a stop and search

I even hear you've mastered black magic
Conjuring the rains coincident to rush hour unfailingly.
They say your juju can also take control of a molue engine
Always go the cruelest corner to breakdown you lead it

Lagos Traffic, you're nothing short of a superstar
Everyone recounts the impact you've had on their lives
Without due consideration to you, no event can be planned
As far as I can tell, you're the master of our time

You've even made a profound mark on my social life
That quiet chick go customercare that I always liked,
She's asked about squatting a while in my flat
Most times I just hitch a ride to work with perfect strangers

Your efforts at a greener city have not gone unnoticed
We now opt out of our SUVs to take part in jumping buses
Even your massive roll-out of jobs is worthy of applause
Poverty alleviatino for those who choose to beg, hawk or rob

Lagos Traffic, you keep me company on these dangerous streets
Wherever I turn, you never fail to be there already
In vain I tried to bypass you through Epe
For behold at Ikorodu Junction you patiently awaited

Abeg jare, you're getting too possessive for my liking
Always following when I dare go out me the office
Checking out which chick I spend lunch hour with
For the times I'm out the house, you're just another momsie

You play gooseberry on all of my dates
Like a chaperone keeping all my excesses curtailed
You're the catalyst ensuring I make of time no waste
I reach for the lips before you decide it's too late

At night I relive the pains of an outing with you.
The ache in every joint from hours spent in a curve
An irregular tan evident of sitting one-sided to the sun
A handful of Made-In-China toys that my nieces don't want

I thank you sir, for the lessons I've learnt
The virtue of awaking early as four a.m,
The discipline to cut down on my daily dose of CNN
And the patience of keeping my temper back home at ten

But too much familiarity is never a good thing
Absence makes the heart fonder, presence's a bitch
We do love you, but why not make us miss you a bit
Please sir, take a break till the Fourth Mainland Bridge

These Okadas now disrespect you with death defying gimmicks
Though I see you havent' spared them fatal injuries
And this Stubborn Lagos government and their heretic BRT
But crossing that yellow line Lagos dirvers can't resist

All I ask is just a little time off you schedule so hectic
Just a small holiday maybe till New Years' eve
You must be tired sir, why not take a trip?
You'r cousin in New York I hear is having a feat

Lagos Traffic, I'm undoubtedly your biggest fan
There's not a thing I do without you on my mind
Not an excuse I need that in you I cannot find
So not even you can keep me too busy to appreciate that

General Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo is the Greatest Nigerian General. War or otherwise.
PoliticsRe: Militants Rape 28 Female Youth Corps Members by dnex(m): 12:55pm On Oct 27, 2008
Dear Quotacyst, what exactly is your obsession with visualizing everybody masturbate? Does it have to do with the way your uncle touched you during your childhood? I am from the NigerDelta and I don't need MEND to fight for me or rape 8 year old half-caste kids or 28 NYSC members all in the name of fighting for me. I don't need Nkyo Briggs or Chris Ekiyo coming on TV to lie for me. I have my own lips. And I especially don't appreciate you having sexual fantasies about me. I gat my own bitch!
PoliticsRe: Militants Rape 28 Female Youth Corps Members by dnex(m): 8:27am On Oct 27, 2008
Well, this is old story. We talked about this whole thing last year when 80% of this Forum was pro-MEND. There are several tools used to keep a rebel group together in camp. Besides MONEY (which is gotten from bunkered crude and kidnap ransom), POWER (which they get through terrorising the locals and putting themselves on CNN), there's of course PLEASURE (derived from drugs and sex). We are all complaining now, but do we really believe that these are the first set of women to be raped by MENDhuh?!!!!
PoliticsRe: "Resign Now!", Pastor Bakare Tells Yar’adua! by dnex(m): 3:43pm On Oct 16, 2008
TUNDE BAKARE AGAIN? Was it not this same Pastor Tunde Bakare who promised us that Obasanjo would die before May 29 1999? Obasanjo will getting fresher, fitter and stronger even today. Prophesier Of Opposites.
PoliticsRe: Is Lagos State A Muslim State? by dnex(m): 3:29pm On Oct 16, 2008
I am not here to judge performance in office or the economic development of the United Arab Emirates. I know a fact, and I saw people seeking it so I said it as it is. Shikenan.

I personally beleive that this issue of prayers at public functions should cease. Even when both Islamic and Christian prayers are offered, are they going to then going to marginalise those of of with indigineous religious beliefs? Let there be no segregation before or after a public occasion. That's all I'm saying.

@nawah

This car is not Army Green, it's not Navy Blue, It's not Airforce White neither is it even Police Black? Like I made Clear, It has been used in Nigeria. The owner of this vehicle would have been tortured by MOPOL and Army Officers if your fears were real.

Men, people for here can price O! See angle wey person take enter the matter. I hail O! Abeg, you guys should just buy this car, I will never come back here to sell anything. Chineke! See scope.

O Boy, see the way some men are pricing cars as if they are Gucci shoes.
PoliticsRe: Is Lagos State A Muslim State? by dnex(m): 12:01am On Oct 15, 2008
There are far more muslim than christian Lagos indigenes. Just try to remember the names of all your friends that are real Lagos indigenes. Not Yorubas living in Lagos O! Muslim indigenes. Kafayat, Monsurat, Jelili, Quodri, Salamot, Ahmed, Taofeek. I live in the Lekki environ and there you will find a lot of ancient Lagos families just like on the Lagos Island. In Lekki, ALL the indigenes are muslims. There's even a mosque on Alpha Beach that was built hundreds of years ago. I just don understand how the Jihadists jumped from Kwara, skipping several Yoruba states and landing in Lagos. Maybe they were colonised by a different clan of muslims not from the Sokoto Caliphate, but from the West African coast and may have come through the sea. Maybe O!

okay, my brother. Abi you been dey forget say there's that little thing called a commission that I may make from seeing this deal through. God bless. Ehen, where are the remaining buyers O!
AutosRe: Peugeot 605 Saloon Car: N920,000 by dnex(op): 10:55pm On Oct 14, 2008
@d emperor

thank you for being "plain and open", but there are a couple of people who have come to this same page and know that they are getting a good deal. Now if they come back and see what you're posting regarding "spending wisely" they may begin to believe thay they are about to spend stupidly. They will not understand that you're onlly trying to haggle, they will not want to even think that you may have spent a lot more money on less valuable vehicles, they will just withdraw from the purchase because some random poster is making them feel "unwise". Please think it through before you go round posting these sorts of comments on people's ADs.

I've not been to nairaland for ages cos I don't enjoy these sorts of comments and I'm not happy to be selling this car because with it gone, whenever my cousin goes offshore, there's nothing to keep us mobile. Please don't make this any harder for me O.K? Thank you.
AutosRe: Peugeot 605 Saloon Car: N920,000 by dnex(op): 10:15pm On Oct 14, 2008
d emperor

I hail you your majesty, the all knowing emperor. I've seen all sorts of negotiation tactics and this "you're not ready to sell yet" is one of the oldest in the book. The owner of this car works offshore with NNPC/Mobil JV and hardly makes use of this vehicle. So when you inspect it, you'll find out that it is fairer than a lot of these Jand used cars. In any case I think you're not ready to buy THIS car. Go to "imperial" motors my dear emperor. They may have something more befitting for you. This vehicle am actually offering to the Plebs. I may be willing to take just a little off the price, but condemnation will not get us anywhere.
AutosRe: Peugeot 605 Saloon Car: N920,000 by dnex(op): 7:11pm On Oct 14, 2008
@kells4u sometimes my posts may seem alll muddled up, but that's cos most times I post from my phone. Now to the peugeot, I feel no matter how nice the car looks to you, you just have to feel it move in order for you to justify the price. It's an impressive machine.

Hey everybody is here. amazing. davidylan, how've you been? Tayo-D it's been a while. I tried to hook up with you on facebook but my search was futile.

Seun actually banned me from Nairaland, so I decided to ban myself too and journeyed off to more democratic cyberspace. You can look me up on facebook. I'm Nejeeb Bello. Couldn't do much about the Home Video rights I was meant to secure due to the shambolic nature of the industry at that time but their cleaning up their act now and things are bound to get better. Hope you're doing well.

i have no more political comments.

Copy, Copy people. Before they start applying policies in use by the USA, they should remember that it's not the same thing that caused our problems and that Nigerian business practitioners are more resilient than those in Europe and the USA.

If they like, next time they should let Soludo open his big mouth and say banks should give out loans to idiots to buy shares. Olodo.

Meanwhile what's up with shower hour? That's the only time I really get to psychoanalyse the housemates cos in the shower, they're too insecure, selfconscious and uncomfortable to act.
