taharqa: For smone who evidently is drawn to telling his own idea of what Nigeria's Diplomatic History is or isn't, it is amazing that you still haven't Grasp one of d main Strategic reasons Nigeria 'forcefully' wanted to get back to that seat so soon, albeit a Non-permanent one for now!!.... By d way, what again was d purpose of taking us Memory lane??There is nothing strategic in being a non permanent member of the SC, especially, when our country is the focus of discussion. By virtue of existing agreement, the seat rotates among West African countries. Arising from the above, no 'force' was needed. Memory lane is important in order to know the past, assess the present, and synchronize the future. I strongly believe that, contrary to many of the posts here, Aso rock will not be holding any carnival for this 'achievement'. It is infinitesimal considering where we were before now. |
taharqa: The part that was emboldened..Read my reply to theshadyexpress. |
theshadyexpress: be informed too that the world always look forward to Nigeria to tell the African story all the time and Nigeria also uses that sit to harness the gains from 'international economic diplomacy' bet you might find it hard to decode the essence of the aforementioned.Africa has three representatives in the security council. Before this election Togo, Rwanda and Morocco were Africa's representatives. Nigeria just replaced Togo for the West African slot. My earlier submission that it is a glorified seat still stands especially when compared to our other achievements at the UN. Be informed that our country representeded Africa at the SC in 66/67 when Africa had only one slot. Nigeria achieved this feat again in 78/79 and 94/95(under Abacha rule). Well, for the uninformed these may appear to be remarkable achievements but are not, relatively. More importantly, Nigeria chaired the UN anti-apathied committee from 1970 to 1994, has produced the undersecretary general of the UN in the person of Prof Ibrahim Gambari, the executive secretary of the UN/ECA for 14 years in the person of Prof Adebayo Adedeji, president of the 44th session of the UN General Assembly in the person of Gen Joe Garba (rtd). Be informed that Nigeria's main goal with respect to the security council is not this 'flash in the pan' that is being celebrated but to have a permanent seat. This was clearly stated by Gen Ike Nwachukwu (rtd) in his address to UN General Assembly in 1992. The various leaders under whom these achievements were made never played domestic politics with them. Not even the military ones. NOT WHEN YOU CLAIM TO BE A LEADER OR HOPE TO BE ONE. |
taharqa: Reali?? You don't say!... Just curious though: Are you a 'student' of International Politics yourself??Which of my assertions do you have problem with? |
theshadyexpress: guy just shut up and talk sensiblyMy friend, he is making sense. Any serious student of international politics will know that being elected as a non-permanent member of the security council is mere glorification. Be informed that previous milestone achieved by Nigeria at the UN makes this pale into insignificance. |
Billyonaire: You my friend are stup1d in your assertions, I am sure you are as daft as the political philistine with frog eyes. Stay within the thread and do not derail this magnificent thread that magnifies your innuendos in the politicosphere. The moment you attempted to derail this thread was the moment I recognize your folly and unstable emotional balance.I like your use of english language a lot. It shows that you are well read. But must u replay 'Uche Chukwumerije's role' all the time. History is replete with fanatical defenders of Nigerian rulers jumping ship seconds after relinquishing power or being forced out of office. Well, I am not GEJ. But it is a rule of the thumb that a ruler who wants to be a leader of his people would not bat an eyelid when stoned with a rotten egg. He will stand straight faced and ask why. On the order hand, he will try to put some distance between himself and those that see nothing wrong in whatever he does. The later group is the one that will lead him to his downfall because they deliberately eliminate all caution signs on the onerous path of governance. |
Where is the picture of what u are selling? Mileage, please. |
Mileage and vin number, please. |
Hon. SuQ Ma'DIQ:Kid always a kid. |
@visalo. In trying to act the teacher's role, I am afraid, you became the pupil instead. And even the president missed the wider meaning. Note well that poverty can be used to qualify many situations, e.g. material state, intellect, morals, mind, health, etc. The major reason for the onset and proliferation of terrorism is not necessarily financial but poverty of the mind. That alone provides abundant tenancy for evil thoughts. This I believe is the root cause of terrorism in Nigeria today not minding that it intertwines with monetary gains and, most times, amnesty. |
genxris: Mr president's media chat and answers to issues asked are on point but I don't expect haters to agree with me.Dont you think you sound like an alien in your own country, more so, on this forum? |
What has gone wrong with student unionism in this country? Back in the 80's and 90's those responsible for this impasse in our universities would have been having sleepless nights from students' uprising. |
eGuerrilla: It is shame that someone with a moral compass has to make fickle and morally reprehensible remarks like this, simply to prove his fidelity to the party in power. Is there no bridge you consider too far, jmaine?Bridge? His type will sell Jesus for 13 shekel at the grunt of their paylords and you are talking of bridge. |
What 'world' did Jesus Christ warned christians not to be part of because he wasn't part of it? |
Wherever the truth lies in this case, God has taken a stance. But if not, he is then awaiting the guilty party to show remorse and ask for forgiveness. However, in a church where subservience to God's rules is paramount, it behoves on it to act swiftly, decisively, and justly in a manner that is godlike in order to prevent or arrest this public putrefaction. |
I was lying on the bed when I logged onto this thread and going through it sent my mind back to years of wonders in Nigerian music scene especially wit 'love can make it work, dont u know I'm falling in love.... I need u, u need me' by Alex O. Tears of fond memories cascaded down my face. Please, can somebody call my wife to tell her to leave me alone. She thinks I'm bereaved. |
begwong: shd be felix liberty!VIRUS! It's Harry Moscow. |
jossybills: Take it or leave it ibori was a good governor of delta state. We will still celebrate d man until there comes another like him.I fully understand your situation, bro. One can do nothing else but to sympathise with you for not experiencing the product of good governance till now, especially, in Delta state. Hope u do in your lifetime in order to know the expectations from a sane system. |
Just for the record: Ibori was caught, at least on two occasions in the early 90's, for shoplifting in London. His wife was an accessory. He was an Abacha boy in the late 90's. Arising from the above, he became Delta state governor and ruled from 1999 to 2007. He played a significant role in enthroning Yaradua and thus became a member of his kitchen cabinent. He couldn't gain a foothold in Jonathan's govt due to reasons we all know. He was discharged and acquitted of about 170 charges of corruption related offences by a Nigerian court. Delta state government held a thanksgiving service for his acquittal. He later fled to Dubai due to EFCC manhunt. He was extradited to Britain from UAE on account of money laundering. He was tried, convicted, and sentenced to 13years imprisonment in Britain. Several millions of dollars of his assets were also confiscated. He was to be followed later to jail by his wife, mistress, sister, and lawyer for their various roles in his larceny. Presently his birthday celebration is on while still in gaol for grand scale larceny. |

Do you have one for 2007 toyota corolla? And what is the price? |
Absurdity always repeat itself. In 1984, in the aftermath of the Buhari-Idiagbon coup, many of the politicians, including governors, were arrested and thrown into gulag. The then Kano state governor, Bakin Zuwo, was found with N8m while being arrested in government house. When questioned on how he came to be in possession of such a huge sum, he has this to say ''it is government money in government house''. On why he didn't keep the money in the bank, he said, ''money, bank, and government house are owned by government''. Ironically, Kano state then was home to the highest number of 'talakawas' in Nigeria. Unfortunately, this crooked perception of handling public fund like personal riches has not changed, three decades on. What trickles down to the common man is just the crumbs that escape the attention of those that attend to our rulers in their 'royal' abode. N40m! $250000! Almost the annual salary of the American President but pocket money to Nigerian rulers. |
The vagaries of life. Too sad to comment further. |
ndu_chucks: Inasmuch as Patience should have not been this forward, I'm not sure there exists any protocol which calls for the President to be the first among the two to greet those receiving them at a nigerian airport. If this were a foreign trip, you people may have a point. You must take time to watch tv sometimes instead of staying glued to internet browsing. |
bookface: WTF do you keep spitting about "another man's wife"? This other man's wife chose to meddle directly in the politics of a state leading to chaos and confusion. If you want to be treated like a lady you act like one. You can't be a thug and at the same time demand to be treated like a lady.GBAM!! Minus the WTF, though. |
noblezone: If it was Chinda that broke Loyd's skull, he would had been arrested by now.You should try to understand the import of your assertion. 'Being too a gentleman' is a very bad ingredient for good leadership. The closest people to you will usually be the first to notice it and consequently exploit it to their personal advantage. Identifying and nullifying these enemies within is far more difficult than fighting the opposition. The reason being that they will keep directing you towards the opposition as the source of your problems. Except you are, politically, astute and intelligent enough but not being 'too a gentleman' to manage your internal political mechanics you will just be a figure head in power. The eventuality is that you will pilot yourself to political ignomy. |
If I were TB Joshua I would be wary of these massive praises from earthly beings. Apostle Paul and even Jesus Christ were never loved and praised like this by their own people. |
