Aigbofa: It is obvious you cannot fault the Oba's message, what then is left for a non thinking animal, other than to do what comes naturally to him, which is to attack.
Your useless Oba has no message. He is only seeking attention. Same way he sought and Abacha granted him on condition that he delivered Abiola's head which he did gleefully. Get a brain and stop being brainwashed.

The Oba's face looks like a baboon's, and so are the faces of most of your men, including you. Ugly mofos. Just wait, you will soon see the Oba selling yall off. Buncha anuofias.

A source, who spoke with our correspondent, on Monday, said the robbery suspects, operating on a motorcycle, snatched the money from an official of a cooperative society in front of the State Hospital, Asubiaro.

It was gathered that the cooperative official was coming from a bank and was about to enter the hospital when the incident occurred.

Investigation showed that the cooperative society was being run by some health workers at the hospital and some of its members were waiting for the official that went to the bank.

According to an eyewitness, one of the robbers suddenly alighted from the motorcycle and cornered the cooperative official.

The eyewitness said, "It was like a movie. Some members of the cooperative society were at the gate waiting for the man when one of the two men on the okada jumped down and pointed a gun at the man.

"He pointed the gun at the head of the man and threatened to blow off his brains. The man handed over the money in a large polythene bag to the robber.

"The robber pocketed his gun in order for him to be able to carry the bag briskly. It was when people at the gate saw that he had pocketed his gun and was about running to the waiting bike that they overwhelmed him.

"When the guy on the motorcycle saw that they had overpowered him, he took off on the bike."

The Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, Mrs. Kalafite Adeyemi, confirmed the incident.

She said, "We have charged the case to court. The victim had gone to collect the money from the bank; he raised the alarm when he was attacked. One of the robbers fell and he was overpowered."

patriot2: Come on, no body with half a brain will be using the identity of someone he killed for over twenty years. The supreme rule in crime is that the criminal always tries to run as far as he can from the evidences.
He probably bought the documents from an igbo man who previously tortured and killed the owner. The poor Yoruba man was surely unaware of the faith of the owner, he probably thought these were the best fake documents ever.
So your brother killed an innocent man and usurped his id?

Yoruba Pastor Caught Trying To Use His Mother For Money Rituals
Residents of Agboku, a community in the Ado -Odo Local Government area of Ogun State were thrown into confusion and pandemonium on Thursday, 13th April , when news filtered out about the kidnap of a 70- year-old-woman, madam Aduke Karimu Sawo.

The kidnappers were believed to be money ritualists. But what alarmed people of Agboku was that they were allegedly sent by Pastor Rafiu Sawo, the biological son of the woman.

Born a Muslim 35 years ago, Rafiu Sawo is now a Christian and was the founder of Celestial Church of Christ, [Oke itura Parish,] Owode, Ogun state, which he shepherds. The old woman was reportedly kidnapped and taken far away on a chartered motorcycle popularly called Okada to a thick forest, near Ayede village where her throat was slashed with knife. Taken for dead, she was then covered with raffia
leaves and dumped by the bush path. Her assailants thereafter took leave of 'the corpse' to put a call across to Pastor Sawo to come over and sever the head as required for the money ritual .Unknown to them, Madam Aduke was still alive and she escaped to safely before they came for her.Recounting her ordeals and narrow escape , she told our reporter in a private clinic at Ado Odo, where she is still recuperating, that it was God that saved her.Telling her strange-but-true story, she said: "My name is Aduke, my husband's name is Sawo, now late. I am about seventy years old. I have five children, namely, Wahab, Silifat, Iyabode, Rashidat, and the one in question now is Rafiu.

Since my husband passed on, I have been charged with the responsibility of sending then to school and looking after their welfare.I suffered untold hardships and did all kinds of odd jobs to take care of myself and the children before old ages started catching up with me."Madam Aduke, who looked frail on the hospital stretcher stated further that, "some times I fetched water from the Ado-Odo streams to houses for a token in order to make ends meet. Also, I sold different herbs cut in the bush.

My other children are contend with this simple life and they assist me in my old age, Rafiu, who is the fourth in the family has always been the black sheep among them all. Like the prodigal son, Rafiu ran away to Ajangbadi, in the outskirts of Lagos where he stayed for close to three years, in the company of some friends of questionable character. I warned him to avoid the company of all bad friends to no avail.""Last week, we were planning for a burial ceremony. I was here in Ado-Odo with one of my daughters who had just given birth to a set of twins. Rafiu came here in the company of some of his friends.

He told me that they were planning to offer a sacrifice to appease the gods of the land in Agboku to avoid the untimely death of my children.I did not know that he had planned with his friends to kill me for money making ritual. He had already instructed the Okada man to drive me to the specific area where I would be killed. He rode hurriedly and dangerously. Along Agboku bush, I was told to say my last prayer.

I was further told that today was going to be my last day on earth. The Okada man said he had instruction to cut off my head to better the financial condition of my son, Rafiu and others. And before I could say anything, he had pushed me down from the bike, drawn up a sharp dagger and slashed my throat. Because he was in a hurry he slashed it half way. I lay face down on the floor and pretended that I had died as blood gushed out of my neck.He started making desperate calls to Rafiu to come and cut off my head.

When I saw that he had left to pick Rafiu, I managed to stand up and staggered away to the nearby village where I begged some people to save my life. They brought me here where I am presently receiving treatment."Speaking with the our correspondent , the Nurse in charge of the clinic said, "Initially I was reluctant to admit the woman because of the problems of these Egun speaking people around here. I changed my mind later because of her condition and the need to assist a fellow being.

She is presently on antibiotics and she is responding well to treatment. The Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Divisional Police Station Ado-Odo, one Mr. Adesina confirmed that the case was reported at the division but told our reporter that the information about the whereabouts of the suspect was still sketchy while investigations were still on going.

Leyelyzo: So according to your myopic sense of reasoning, Tafawa Balewa is unmodernize? The man that spends a good years of his life abroad, schooled abroad, speaks good English, understand English life style and culture, travelled far and wide and meets with a large number of world leaders, is unmodernize because he sat on the floor with his children? What he did is called being proud of your own culture and norms.
Btw how modernize is your father?
I see. One year abroad is now good years of his life.

Early life and career

Abubakar Balewa was born in Bauchi, the son of a Bageri Muslim district head in the Bauchi divisional district of Lere. He started early education at the Koranic School in Bauchi and like most of his contemporaries, he studied at the Katsina College for further education and soon acquired his teaching certificate. He returned to Bauchi to teach at the Bauchi Middle School. In 1944, along with a few learned teachers from the north, he was chosen to study abroad for a year at the University of London's Institute of Education. Upon returning to Nigeria, he became an Inspector of Schools for the colonial administration and later entered politics. He was elected in 1946, to the colony's Northern House of Assembly, and to the Legislative Assembly in 1947. As a legislator, he was a vocal advocate of the rights of northern Nigeria, and together with Alhaji Ahmadu Bello, who held the hereditary title of Sardauna of Sokoto, he founded the Northern People's Congress (NPC).

lari03: Rail system plans are under way,but that will take all the governors to commit themselves. It was the same Kayode Fayemi who spearheaded the meeting of western governors to work out the modalities of a rail system from lagos to delta.
The airport may seem premature now, but the governor really wants to use tourism as a revenue source for the government. if the feasibility studies come good, then nothing will stop them if the funding is available.

How many people will fly to Ekiti? What spectacular tourist attraction is there that will persuade an international flyer?
PoliticsRe: Ekiti Plans International Airport Project by docokwy(m): 3:21pm On May 02, 2012
This is akin to building an airport in Ebonyi or in Taraba, among other backwards Nigerian States. How many people - and at what frequency- will fly there? The Governor is indeed foolish as suggested by a prior poster. Who elected him as Governor? The idea of a regional rail transport system proposed by Aigbofa makes far more sense.

kodewrita: Disclaimer: Am Yoruba

Frankly speaking, NL insults aside, We can all survive without each other. Yes, the first few years might be rocky for all but we'll adapt. Dont make assumptions. I rarely comment on such obviously tribal threads but I notice certain arguments are regularly marshalled anytime tribal arguments occur on NL.

I really dont see the average yoruba man panting after other tribes, it just wont happen. We'll definitely miss you ( same as you'll miss us too).

Besides, the loss will be on all sides.

Its a fact that the Igbos would lose access to western markets ( though they'll still survive nontheless).
Emotions would also be quite raw in the aftermath of a breakup and this will definitely affect any and all assets they might have acquired in the west pre-breakup ( I am not advocating this but the greedy among my people and the aggrieved will do so).

Besides a breakup will force you to face squarely many of the problems you might have been able to ignore by virtue of the nigerian status quo ( Erosion, Human capital issues ( people choosing hustling instead of finishing school), Other social issues ( cant think of any at the moment)).

Contrary to popularly held belief, we are not cowards but we take calculated risks. In the event, that we can achieve a breakup with minimal risk/loss, expect us to take action. That we dont get inflamed every time there is a clash is because the military era is now a more distant memory. Hausa or Ijaw attacks shortly after the military era would have attracted instant retaliation but the more the years pass, the more the yoruba mellow again until something comes to rile us up again. We are a calm people and I would want us to remain as such. If the other two national tripods ( Hausa, Igbo) choose to be hotheads pulling in different directions, we should be able to keep the pot from falling by being the calm tripod. THATS WHO WE ARE.

Bad sides: As a tribe, I see the Yoruba as willing to let others take the punishment if possible except we see others as being deliberately acquiescing to unfair conditions ( subsidy riots for example). which still falls under the calculated risks attitude.

It will afford the Yoruba the opportunity to attempt to deal with the problem of motor garage touts, homeless street urchins, ocean surge, high school drop-out and flooding, among others. Surely, there is enough woes to go round each zone.

What a snub!!!!! Is Utomi afraid of a divided Nigeria because he fears losing his investments outside his own region?

Now that the North wants a split - because the reality of them not going to dominate Nigeria any longer has dawned on them - is this not a God-given opportunity that should not be wished to be frittered away by selfish people like Utomi?

Jonathan will regret it if he fails to utilize this easy opportunity that the North has given him.

The Amalgamation of North and South Nigeria Was "a Great Mistake"-Ango Abdullahi

alt

A former vice chancellor of the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Professir Ango Abdullahi, has said that the amalgamation of North and Southern Nigeria was a great mistake.

Professor Abdullahi made this assertion yesterday at the International Conference Center Abuja at the 50th Birthday celebration of the founder and publisher of Leadership Newspapers, Mr. Sam Nda-Isiah.

It would be recalled that two weeks ago, this same AngoAbdullahI, speaking for the Arewa Eider's Forum, had said that the North is not benefitting from her union with the South and would therefore lose nothing if the forced union of Nigeria is broken up.

In his paper titled: “Nigeria 1914 to date – A Chequered Journey So far”, Abduallahi faulted the amalgamation of Nigeria by Lugard, describing it as the greatest mistake that had befallen Nigeria.

He urged leaders to take a quick resolution to correct the mistakes created by the amalgamation, as "delay would be late and dangerous".

He cited the case of India where the British committed a similar mistake, but the country's example, according to him, had been resolved through the creation of the states of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

In similar cases, he urged Nigeria to take a clue from what is happening in the United Kingdom, where Northern Ireland and Scotland are fighting separation as sovereign nations, while drawing example from the recent development in Sudan, where the country had divided into the Sudan and Southern Sudan.

Abdullahi said the three examples are all British colonies and that the earlier a decision was taken on the continued status of Nigeria, the better.According to the former vice-chancellor, “things are more likely to become complex in the future. Until the correct things are done, we cannot ignore these facts or we continue to pretend as our leaders that this is a passing phase. The question of a likely disintegration is not a too distant future.”

Of late, many Northern power brokers who were hitherto against the idea of a National Conference have begun to speak publicly of splitting the Nigerian nation thereby indicating that rather than seat to discuss the future of the country in a National Conference they would prefer an outright split.

He also faulted the growth rate in the country, stating that "though Nigeria is growing at the rate of seven per cent per year, but it does not reflect the actuality on ground as over 100 million Nigerians still live below $1 per day, with a life expectancy going down at less than 48 years."

Following the violent clash between supporters of Labour Party (LP) and the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) at the fifth memorial lecture of Chief Adebayo Adefarati in Akure on Friday, the ACN has vowed to match violence with violence against the LP or any political party in the state.

The party said it would not succumb to intimidation from political miscreants.
At a press conference addressed by the ACN leaders and its governorship aspirants led by the acting chairman of the party, Adesoji Noah, at its secretariat along Ilesha road, the party said the disruption of the memorial lecture of the former governor and attack on its members by sponsored thugs was masterminded by the ruling party in the state.

The party threatened to resist any attempt by any party in the state to attack its members, saying nobody had the monopoly of violence.
When Sunday Sun visited the secretariat on Saturday, the place was heavily guarded by men believed to be party thugs, who were ready to deal with anybody that fomented trouble within the secretariat.

The party chairman called on the police and other security agencies in the state to rise up to the security challenges so that the ruling party will not set the state on fire.“I call on the police and other security agencies in the state to please rise up the challenges because LP is ready to turn the state into a theatre of war. They are battle ready to use government machinery at their disposal to deal with ACN members.
“We don’t want a repeat of 1983 political violence in the state again. That is why we are appealing to the security agencies to be on red alert so that LP thugs will not be attacking our members. But if the situation continues unabated, we may not have any option than to tell our members to retaliate any attack from the opposition,” Noah said.

The LP, in its reaction, however described the ACN statement as an empty threat, saying the party was known for violence.
Its spokesman, Kola Odogiyan, said the ACN had been threatening the people of the state that they will import thugs from ACN-controlled states but that the LP will not engage in violence with any party in the state. The police also warned all political parties in the state to call their members to order, saying anybody caught fomenting trouble will be dealt with.
The police spokesman, Adeniran Aremu (DSP), said they would not condone acts of hooliganism in the state, saying the police were ready to deal with law breakers.

Yinka Sokoya is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Sokoya and Partners, situated at Suit 11 on the 2nd floor of the Tafawa Balewa Square Complex, Onikan, Lagos. The 42 years old man was arrested in April this year and detained at the SFU cell for defrauding a company to the tune of N6,663,000 million naira.

According to police reports, Yinka, promised to lease out about 370 square metres of space on the first floor of a property situated at No, 77, Ojuelegba Road, Ojuelegba, Surulere, Lagos. The prospective tenant (name withheld) paid a whopping sum of N5 million to Yinka’s company as initial installment for the property.

After the payment, the company’s (tenant) officials went to the place to take charge of the property, but got a shocker. The owner of the property told them that there was no vacancy in the place and that he had never met anyone called Yinka Sokoya. After several efforts to take possession of the property proved abortive, and their money not refunded, Yinka was arrested by the police from the SFU. Suffice it to say that it took policemen from the financial unit of the force considerable time and effort before they caught up with the man who had by this time become elusive.

While Yinka was still telling the police of his involvement in the scam, one Mrs Opeyemi Adegbomire petitioned the police at the SFU that one Yinka Sokoya had fraudulently collected the sum of N15,250,000.00 million from her company, Maevis Nigeria Limited, for a serviced 5-Bedroom detachable house at Cappa Estate, Maryland, Lagos as rent. Prior to the time of moving into the property, some officials of Maevis Nigeria Limited had sent some cleaners to the premise to clean it up, since Yinka had told them that the place had not been occupied for over a year.

However, when the cleaners got there, they met other cleaners contracted by Virgin Atlantic. The Virgin Atlantic cleaners claimed to have been sent by the company to clean up the place for them since they would be moving in the next day. Meanwhile, some parts of the building had already been occupied by some of the staff of the company.

The following day, the staff of Meavis Nigeria Limited, led by Adegbomire, went to the venue of their purported office, but met staff of Virgin Atlantic in full possession of the office space. Not only that, the front office was adorned with the name and logo of Virgin Atlantic.

All efforts to track down Yinka to explain the development proved abortive, as he was nowhere to be found. Adegbomire’s company petitioned the police at SFU and they were told that Yinka was in their custody. When confronted, Yinka pleaded with Maevis’ representatives and promised to refund their money. He eventually issued a Union Bank Plc cheque to the tune of N15,250,000.00 million. But on getting to the bank, Adegbomire and other staff of Meavis Nigeria Limited found out it was a dud cheque, as the bank dishonoured it. To say that the police were furious at this new development, is to state the obvious.

While the police was still investigating the scam and with Yinka still denying his complicity in the sordid affair and insisting that he did not issue a bounced cheque, another organization - this time, a church, the New Covenant Church, Mainland Branch wrote - a petition to SFU against Yinka Sokoya, claiming that he collected some money running into millions of naira from them for a parcel of land on the mainland. When this petition got to the police unit, Yinka was informed about the new development. He did not deny it, but promised to pay back the money once he is released from the police cell.

Speaking on the series of reported allegations of fraud against him, Yinka, who pleaded for privacy, requesting that his activities should not be exposed because of his numerous customers, said he was just owing people and not defrauding them. He claimed to have started paying some of them. Giving his side of the story, Yinka said: “The truth is that my friend gave me some money to pay for a property. Immediately he gave me the money, he travelled abroad. I needed some money and I diverted it to take care of my personal commitments. I did not know that he would return so soon. When he returned and the initial place I got for him had been taken over by another company, he demanded for his money, which I have started paying.

“I don’t know why the police are embarrassing me now. I am a businessman and it is not new for a businessman to owe in the course of doing business transactions. I will pay in full, I only need to be given more time,” Yinka pleaded.

Asked if he was owing other people as claimed by the police, the man insisted that he was only doing business with people and that there is nothing strange in what he had done. “I am sad that this is happening in an advanced country like Nigeria. What is strange about doing business with people? If it had worked out according to plan, would there have been this grouse over a little problem. In fact, I don’t see it as a problem. It’s just the police that is making a mountain out of a mole hill. I will pay back,” he insisted.

Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police in charge of SFU, Mr. Yinka Balogun has vowed to get to the root of the matter and ensure that the people and companies defrauded by Yinka get justice done at the right time.

I am sorry, but if truly he killed another, then he deserves his punishment, which is not different from what he will get in Nigeria. I do not see any genuine reason to cry for him, unless of course, he is innocent.

I'll have to assume you're not romeo. So what is tribalistic about the post you highlighted? or you just reach for your keyboard and type balderdash at will or you simply do not understand reported speech. choose one . . and give me the reason for your answer.
The original author of the post never mentioned Igbo and any unfounded claim to PH, but you are alluding to that. That, my friend, is the tribalism in your response.
Most of those who make noise about PH actually don´t come from around its vicinity, but from some obscure fishing hamlet deep in the creeks. grin

@romeo

So the Spanish police have finally released you from the slammer. Where are you now? Gibralter? or maybe Cape Verde.

The poster clearly pasted an article calling for the renaming of PH,most probably to Igwe Ocha. Now I was wondering if PH problems will be solved by renaming it Igwe Ocha or that he was trying to re-enforce the claim YOU and FSU tried to do some months ago.

Now the poster clearly is trying to say that renaming PH would give it its own identity. Which is a good thought but can't really do much because PH is home to so many people from diverse backgrounds and there would be no more appropriate name than what it is currently called. Read through debosky's post and you will understand why this thread is inappropriate.

However, you have decided to go down the path of name calling when you have nothing to contribute. I would try to restrain myself from replying to any further rants from you because I expect another hail on unnecessary slur from you.

Anyone want to bet? this dude will swear some more. . . cool
Are you still embedded in your small tribalistic cocoon? grin

The bloodletting which has become the hallmark of the Oyo political crisis continued on Tuesday as hoodlums attempted to torch the private house of the immediate past governor of the state, Senator Rasidi Ladoja.

They were, however, repelled by security personnel attached to the house with active support of Ladoja’s private security. Three persons were feared killed in the shootout that ensued.

One of the private security personnel in the house, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Daily Sun that the hoodlums arrived the area around 1.25a.m and announced their presence with sporadic gunshots.

"They were shooting and shouting that they were not armed robbers and that the neighbours should not panic. They stated that they had come to burn down Ladoja’s house and destroy whatever is within the house," the source stated.

Two residents of Ondo Street, where Ladoja’s house is located, Messrs Adetayo Adegbenle and Osundolure Olumide, also corroborated the disclosure of the security man, describing the incident as a nasty experience never witnessed in the area.
Adegbenle said the gunshots woke up almost everybody in the street as lasted for about 40 minutes non-stop.

"Definitely, they (hoodlums) had come to attack Ladoja’s house. They were the first to start shooting. They came well armed, but they met a stiff resistance. In fact, they met more than they envisaged," he said.

Olumide also disclosed that the kind of ammunition used in the operation was not ‘cork and shoot’ guns but sophisticated ones that ensure sporadic shooting.
The two residents, however, could not confirm the number of casualties, saying there was blackout in the area, which made it difficult for neighbours to ascertain the number of persons that came for the attack or the casualty figure.

Nonetheless, splatters of blood dotted the stretch of Ondo Street from the building beside Ladoja’s house to Osuntokun Junction, which was a distance of about one kilometer. Residents disclosed that the attackers parked their vehicles at the Osuntokun Junction, less than two kilometers to the Housing Police Station.

Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in the area, Mr. Anthony Onoshoho, who came to Ladoja’s house around 10’o’clock was overheard telling riot policemen that he was busy looking for where the shooting was taking place, having been roused up by the heavy gunshots.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police in the state command, Mr. Olatunji Caulcrick, confirmed the development but said the police were still doubtful whether the splatters of blood were that of gunshot injuries.

Describing the splatters of blood in the street as "premeditated action," Caulcrick, who came to the scene around 3pm, after newsmen had visited his office to ascertain the number of casualty, disclosed that nobody had reported the incident to any police formation in the state and neither had his men told him about the traces of blood in the street.

One of the earlier callers to Ladoja’s house on Tuesday, Chief Jacob Adetoro, described the foiled attack as unwarranted and uncalled for, saying it was politically motivated.
Adetoro, who was the former Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources under Ladoja administration as well as chairman, Steering Committee of Action Congress (AC) in the state, called on the Federal Government and police authorities to urgently find a lasting solution to the insecurity problem in the state.

"There is no need for me to point fingers at anybody but I know this one has political undertone and when it has political undertone, we know the position of Ladoja in Oyo State. We know the position of government and the allies of the government. So, there is no need to look at the people around this area. Ladoja has been living in this area for almost 20 years nobody has attacked him," Adetoro stated.
