FamilyRe: My Genotype Is AS And My Fiancee Is AS; What Do I Do? by DocRhymes: 4:22pm On Oct 08, 2019
Have a serious discussion with your fiancée

The way forward is IVF.

During the IVF process you can select embryos that are not SS and that can be transferred.

Ensure you are financially capable of doing this.
Talk to a medical professional.

Period.

proffemi: Excellent. We're on the same wavelength there.

What you have on your site is an excellent write-up of the sort I was suggesting.
Beyond that however, let's get Nairaland and other Nigerian sites and blogs to either link to your site from their home page (many will balk), or create versions on their home pages.

You see, I want us to catch casual and lazy readers who will usually not go looking for information outside their immediate online environment. Let's bring the information right under everyone's nose, and hopefully, inundate Mr. Ignoramus on the streets with information.

What gives us a fighting chance is that, with proper information and precautions, Ebola is actually not very contagious. Lets grab that chance.

ps: are you and your friends mulling any ideas targeting rural areas? If this thing hits the villages, and mixes with superstition...
Some people are discussing stuff and brainstorming on a simple ways to educate the masses on what to do. search for #StopEbolaNaija on facebook.

This is the main Issue:

Ebola and Marburg hemorrhagic fevers are difficult to diagnose because many of the early signs and symptoms resemble those of other infectious diseases, such as typhoid and malaria. But if doctors suspect that you have been exposed to Ebola virus or Marburg virus, they use laboratory tests that can identify the viruses within a few days.

Most people with Ebola or Marburg hemorrhagic fever have high concentrations of the virus in their blood. Blood tests known as enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (PCR) can detect specific genes or the virus or antibodies to them.

SO the key really is this: Wash Hands regularly, identify signs and symptoms. Dont just think of Malaria etc alone.

I will attempt to Educate us all about EBOLA.

Its Definition
Ebola virus and Marburg virus are related viruses that cause hemorrhagic fevers — illnesses marked by severe bleeding (hemorrhage), organ failure and, in many cases, death. Both Ebola virus and Marburg virus are native to Africa, where sporadic outbreaks have occurred for decades.

Ebola virus and Marburg virus live in animal hosts, and humans can contract the viruses from infected animals. After the initial transmission, the viruses can spread from person to person through contact with body fluids or contaminated needles.

No drug has been approved to treat Ebola virus or Marburg virus. People diagnosed with Ebola or Marburg virus receive supportive care and treatment for complications. Scientists are coming closer to developing vaccines for these deadly diseases.

Its Symptoms
In Ebola virus and Marburg virus, signs and symptoms typically begin abruptly within five to 10 days of infection. Early signs and symptoms include:

Fever
Severe headache
Joint and muscle aches
Chills
Sore throat
Weakness

Over time, symptoms become increasingly severe and may include:

Nausea and vomiting
Diarrhea (may be bloody)
Red eyes
Raised rash
Chest pain and cough
Stomach pain
Severe weight loss
Bleeding from the nose, mouth, rectum, eyes and ears

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is not the time to joke on a matter like this. Mortality rates from EBOLA approaches 90%. It has no cure and prevention with early detection of symptoms is teh best cure. We all need to educate ourselves and families and healthcare workers on how to prevent it. Also anything that starts in LAGOS means it has the potential to enter all other states.
Below is a link that talks about its prevention. EDUCATE YOURSELVES.

Channels TV confirmsthe possibility. The key thing now is not to panick but sensitizing people on what to do to prevent and how to report ASAP if someone is suspected of having the dx.
