WHAT DOES THE DSS KNOW?
The job of the DSS is mainly to gather intel and not lead field operations. It passes on gathered intel to other arms of the Nigerian security network. When the DSS begins to lead or get involved in field operations then something is seriously out of order. It only means one thing. The DSS doesn't trust that the military will not compromise its intel and sabotage anti-terrorist operations.

For over 15 years the Nigerian army has supposedly been going after Turji and his gang with little success. The DSS gets directly involved and within a month we are reading reports of several hundred bandits dead. Very commendable but the question has to be asked. Why did it take the DSS working alone for this level of success to be achieved?

Nigeria started recording these level of victories when the DSS started leaving out the army. That says a lot. I am all for inter-agency cooperation but if it leads to compromised operations due to one agency having too many moles who feed bandits intel, then the DSS should work alone.

May more of such operational successes come the way of our forces who put their lives at risk defending this country.
