I am sure by now you all have seen the video of FSU star quaterback De’Andre Johnson punching a woman in a bar. This video has sparked heavy debate online. On one side, people are saying that De’Andre is wrong and that a man should never hit a woman. On the other hand the argument is that she hit first and he was only defending himself. What do you think, watch the video and take our poll http://smileandtalk.com/2015/07/09/football-star-punches-woman-in-bar-should-deandre-have-punched-back-poll/ |

Athletes spend a lot of time with their teammates and have excellent hand eye coordination, which creates the perfect storm for elaborate handshakes. The Nationals recently showed off an arsenal of customized shakes, and the Thunder made a play at the title with a series of wonderful handshake videobombs last season, but neither of those, nor any other team shakes come close to what this rugby sevens squad from the Netherlands is doing. This team is changing the game when it comes to greetings. If someone told you that you were going to watch a video of people shaking hands and be enthralled when you woke up, you would not have believed them, but the Dutch are here to prove you wrong. http://smileandtalk.com/2015/07/04/the-dutch-rugby-team-handshake-is-on-fleek/ |
This video has been trending on the internet over the past two days. Apparently Paris Hilton visited Dubai for an event, and while she was there a popular Egyptian talk show host invited her to take a tour of Dubai on a small plane. When they were in the air, the pilot shut of the engine and the plane began to fall making Paris believe the plane was about to crash!!! If this video is real this is truly the most horrific and disgusting prank anyone can play on a human being. I do have my doubts, for one she fixes her hair a bunch of times at 4:20. Why would you do that if you are in such a scary predicament. She also keeps saying “what is happening”, when it is very obvious what is happening. Anyway you guys watch for yourselves and vote on the poll, REAL or FAKE? http://smileandtalk.com/2015/07/02/real-or-fake-paris-hilton-plane-crash-prank-poll/ |

As head of the Washington University optical radiology laboratory — where researchers study how to use light to improve diagnosis and treatment of disease — Samuel Achilefu heard from surgeons frustrated by the difficulty of removing every remnant of a patient’s cancerous tumor. Before surgery, imaging tests involving big, high-tech machines can create detailed pictures of a person’s cancer, Achilefu said, “but when a patient is in the operating room, it’s like walking in the dark.” http://smileandmobile.com/2015/06/28/nigerian-born-wash-u-scientist-wins-annual-st-louis-award-for-his-cancer-seeing-glasses/ |

My children were born in the United States. But since they have a Dominican-born grandfather, they are eligible for citizenship in the Dominican Republic once they turn 18. But as the country gears up to deport some 200,000 undocumented residents of Haitian descent, children who actually live and have roots there may be loaded onto buses and taken from the only home they’ve ever known. http://smileandtalk.com/2015/06/23/dominican-republics-ethnic-cleansing-haitians-flee-the-country/ |
In 1990, Nelson Mandela visited the U.S. for the first time after being freed from 27 years of imprisonment in South Africa. During Mandela’s visit he also conducted his first interview with Ted Koppel of ABC News. Koppel was then known as one of the toughest and most feared TV reporters and interviewers in America. His ABC news show, “Nightline”, was one of the top rated late night programs on television. The interview turned out to be an openly biased attempt to assassinate Nelson Mandela’s character, credibility, and cause. With the bulk of Koppel’s preselected questioners being either conservative Republican plants, apartheid sympathizers, opponents of Mandela’s African National Congress party (ANC), and/or known members of the white supremacists Apartheid regime. Due to the wisdom and strength of Nelson Mandela, the assassination attempt failed miserable. Ted Koppel was never the same man again and eventually slipped into oblivion. http://smileandtalk.com/2015/06/22/mandela-responds-to-republicanson-question-about-castro-and-gadaffi/ |

Asamoah Gyan and Jordan Ayew both scored twice as Ghana beat Mauritius 7-1 in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. Ghana were beaten on penalties by Ivory Coast in this year’s final and they looked determined to make up for that heartache in Sunday’s Group H fixture in Accra. They had far too much quality for Mauritius, who have only reached the tournament once in their history, back in 1974. After Christian Atsu put Ghana in front, Ayew netted his first and Gyan scored twice as the home side ran riot in the first half. JS Piesie pulled one back for the visitors but Ayew doubled his tally seven minutes before half-time as Ghana head into the break firmly on top. http://smileandtalk.com/2015/06/16/african-nations-qualifier-ghana-thrashes-mauritius-7-1/ |
A WORLD record holding limbo queen thinks she has become the first person to shimmy under a car. Shemika Charles amazed herself and onlookers when she bent over backwards to get underneath the SUV earlier this week. The supple 22-year-old entered the record books in 2010 when she limboed down to an incredible eight and a half inches – the height of a beer bottle. She trains for up to six hours a day to keep her body in peak condition and now travels around America performing with her family. However, regular performances put an incredible strain on her body and she sees a chiropractor once a week to have her hips realigned. Her mother was also a successful limbo dancer in her home country of Trinidad and Tobago but had to give up due to injury. http://smileandtalk.com/2015/06/15/watch-shemika-limbo-under-a-car/ |

Ibrahima Sy saved three penalties as Senegal won a dramatic shootout against Ukraine to reach the last eight at New Zealand 2015. This memorable climax came about after the sides were locked at 1-1 by the end of normal and extra time, with Artem Biesiedin's well-worked opener in Auckland having been cancelled out by a late Sidy Sarr leveller. Ukraine came into the match having kept clean sheets in all three of their previous encounters, but faced a side intent on tarnishing that unblemished record. Senegal's unpredictability and willingness to improvise provided a risk in itself, as shown when Sarr flicked the ball up with his heel to set up a volleyed chance in just five minutes. The resultant shot may have been pulled disappointingly wide, but it hinted at the Africans' approach. The Europeans had their moments too, and might have gone in front eight minutes later if Biesiedin, stretching and off balance, had been in a better position to meet Vladyslav Kabaiev's looping cross. Viktor Kovalenko, the tournament's top scorer, was notably subdued during the first half but came to life shortly after the restart, forcing Sy into a crucial block with his legs after the Senegal keeper had parried Biesiedin's initial effort. http://smileandtalk.com/2015/06/10/senegal-stops-ukraine-on-penalty-kicks-head-to-quarter-finals-u20worldcup/ |
Sweden gave up a 2-0 lead to Nigeria only for substitute Linda Sembrant to put the Europeans back in the lead, which Francisca Ordega cancelled out with three minutes remaining for a dramatic 3-3 draw in the first game of Group D at the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™. The Super Falcons, having never beaten Sweden on their three previous meetings, came out flying in the first few minutes and had the Swedes on the back foot for much of the first quarter of an hour. The Hungarians also qualify as one of the best third-placed teams and will face Serbia in the knockout stages. Awoniyi scored in each half of their last Group E fixture. A person whom Teresa had never met showed up at her home one day with a remarkable offer. Teresa and her family would receive what amounted to a year’s income, in cash. Nothing was owed in return. She did not have to repay the money, and her family could spend it however they wished. Teresa was at a loss. “We did not believe someone would give us that kind of money without having worked for it.” But then the money came. This scenario has played out thousands of times. The organization behind the money, GiveDirectly, is not broadly known. They have spent very little to market their work; their Facebook page has just over 7,000 likes. Yet, dollar-for-dollar, analysts say GiveDirectly is among the most effective organizations in the world trying to eliminate extreme poverty. Some of its strongest champions are two of Facebook’s co-founders. And in the spirit of Silicon Valley, GiveDirectly’s work is data-driven and transparent in ways that are virtually unheard of in the aid world. For donors who want their giving based on evidence-backed results, few organizations compare. http://smileandmobile.com/2015/06/06/this-company-gives-people-a-whole-years-salary-for-free-givedirectly/ |
