Phones / Guess Who’s Helping To Develop The New Nokia Phones by dollarprincess(f): 12:31pm On Dec 05, 2016
Definitely not Apple, Samsung or Huawei! Instead, rumor has it that the Big daddy G, Google, is “closely” involved in the development of the new Nokia smartphones.
Apparently, Google is providing input to HMD Global, the company that is to sell Nokia’s new devices, but no major details have been revealed about this, yet.

What should we expect with Google’s involvement? The stock android experience without adding any extravaganza and the presence of Google’s apps, including the new ones — Allo and Duo.

Thankfully, the launch date is only a few months away, so, we won’t have to wait too long.

Forum Games / Wow Gta's Online Next Expansion Focuses On What Made The Franchise Great. by dollarprincess(f): 8:56am On Dec 05, 2016
GTA's next expansion focuses on what made the franchise great.Rockstar Games is going back to its roots by literally making "grand theft auto" the foundation of the next expansion for the ever-popular Grand Theft Auto Online.
Building on the supply chains introduced in Further Adventures in Finance and Felony this past June, Import/Export is all about stealing and dealing in high-end vehicles.

In lieu of the primitive smash-and-grab tactics typically associated with the franchise, Rockstar says it’ll take talent, coordination and the tactical use of new special vehicles for CEOs and their organizations to successfully boost, modify and resell the most desirable vehicles for top dollar.

Players will also have access to new vehicle warehouses and massive executive office garages, some of which can accommodate up to 60 vehicles. These new spaces can even be decked out with custom décor, we’re told.

Aside from a December release date for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC as well as the handful of screenshots embedded above, not much else is known about the update as of writing. The publisher encourages fans to stay tuned for further details including a glimpse of the new special vehicles that’ll accompany the expansion.

Science/Technology / Database Leak Reveals 10 Terrible Passwords You Should Avoid by dollarprincess(f): 8:53pm On Nov 26, 2016
There’s been more confirmation that when it
comes to online security, some people are just
asking to be hacked. By examining accounts
from a leaked Yahoo database, featuring
obsolete accounts from a 2012 voice calling
service, researchers put together a list of the ten
most commonly used passwords.
The most popular password favored by Yahoo
users was “123456.” If that isn’t enough to
make you facepalm, the second most common
was the brilliant “password.” This was followed
by “welcome” in third, and, weirdly, “ninja” in
fourth position.
Mixing numbers and letters is often
recommended when it comes to creating strong
passwords, but “abc123,” which is the fifth most
popular entry, is a pretty weak example of this
practice. The next two entries are variations of
the number one password – “123456789” at six
and “12345678” at seven.
The next two passwords on the list are actual
words - “sunshine” (eighth) and “princess” (ninth)
– while the final place is occupied by the terrible
“qwerty.”
Dr Jeff Yan, co-author of a paper on password
cracking and a senior computing lecturer at
Lancaster University in the UK, compiled the list.
He told the Daily Mail Online: “Why do [some]
use such obvious passwords? A main reason I
think is that they’re either unaware of or don’t
understand the risks of online security.”
“Just like everybody knows what one should do
when red lights are on in the road, eventually
everybody will know 123456 or the like is not a
good password choice,” he added.
Many of the other passwords in the database
were made up of simple combinations of users’
names, ages, and birthdates.
In addition to revealing the commonly-used
passwords, the University researchers, along
with those from China’s Peking and Fujian
Normal Universities, created algorithms that can
crack passwords.
Based on attackers having access to different
personal information, they guessed passwords
for more than 73 percent of users’ accounts.
Even the more tech-savvy weren’t safe; a third
of their passwords were cracked within 100
guesses.

Phones / Wow!!! Apple Is Selling Refurbished Iphones For $80 To $110 Less by dollarprincess(f): 1:06pm On Nov 11, 2016
Recently Apple has been selling refurbished Macs, iPads, and iPods for a while, but today the Apple added iPhones into the mix for the first time, there by giving customers a way to purchase a device at a lower cost directly from Apple complete with official warranty support.

Right now the company is only selling a few models of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. A 16GB iPhone 6s can be had for $449 while the larger iPhone 6s Plus is being offered in two storage varieties: 16Gb and 64GB for $529 and $589, respectively. Both devices are available in all colors including Silver, Space Gray, Gold, and Rose Gold.

Those prices are about $80 to $110 less than brand new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus devices, although the regular store only offers them in 32GB and 128GB capacities. A brand new iPhone 6s costs $549 for the 32GB model and $649 for the 128GB variant, while the 6s Plus is either $649 or $749 for the 32GB and 128GB versions respectively.
All refurbished iPhone 6s and 6s Plus models are unlocked and SIM-free, meaning they are compatible with all U.S. carriers. Apple says these phones are fully tested, updated with replacement parts for any defective modules identified in testing, cleaned and repackaged with cables and other materials you get when you buy a new iPhone.

They come with the same one-year warranty as brand new iPhones, and they also feature a brand new battery and a fresh outer shell with no scratches or cosmetic damage.

Apple last sold reconditioned iPhones through its official refurb store back in 2008 with the iPhone 3G and has also used an eBay store front in recent years.

The Gangstar New Orleans set to unfold soon from the images provided, we can see that the Gangstar New Orleans visual look beyond beautiful and definitely more enhanced than its predecessor. Gangstar New Orleans is a major United States port and has been influenced by European culture throughout the years. Perhaps we will see memorable places in the game such as the French Quarter, the oldest neighborhood in the city.
It is very exciting to see Gangstar New Orleans coming to mobile devices this year and with the wonders that Gameloft accomplished on Gangstar Vegas, we can only imagine what they can accomplish with the upcoming sequel. While Gameloft did mention that it will be released in the 3rd Quarter of 2016, the game has been delayed and we hope to see it between November and December of this year. You can stay tuned with our website for the latest news on this game.

Science/Technology / Youtube Introduces HDR Support, Giving Sharp And Vibrant Colors To Select Videos by dollarprincess(f): 3:52pm On Nov 08, 2016
Good news for those people lucky enough to own a High Dynamic Range (HDR) television: YouTube just got an upgrade to support HDR videos, which have a wider range of vibrant colors, a higher contrast, brighter whites, and blacker blacks.
As you can see in the simulated image below, the difference between standard dynamic range and HDR is huge. There still aren’t a huge number of devices that support the technology, but if you happen to own one that does, make sure to check out this playlist where you can watch all the new clips in their dazzling glory.

YouTube today Introduced HDR support thereby giving sharp and vibrant colors to videos, YouTube partnered with select channels, including MysteryGuitarMan, Jacob & Katie Schwarz, and Abandon Visuals to bring the new YouTube HDR content to viewers. An HDR badge will appear on supported videos, and a search filter will arrive at a later date.
Anyone can upload using the format, though you’ll have to grade videos using the Rec 2020 color gamut, and you can’t currently edit HDR videos with YouTube’s Web editor. The company says it worked with the DaVinci Resolve team to make HDR video uploads as simple as uploading standard video.
You’ll be able to watch YouTube's HDR content on supported devices, including the Chromecast Ultra and all of Samsung’s SUHD and UHD TVs.
While High Dynamic Range is still in the early stages of its life, more companies are bringing the technology to its services. Now that YouTube has joined Netflix and Amazon Prime Video in offering HDR, could the format eventually become as universal as HD, rather than another 3D?

Science/Technology / US Warns It Will Hack Russia's Infrastructure If It Interferes With The Election by dollarprincess(f): 3:30pm On Nov 07, 2016
Trending: US warns it will hack Russia's infrastructure if it interferes with the election
Last month, the US Intelligence Community blamed the Russia's government in a series of high-profile cyber attacks that were apparently aimed at influencing this week’s election. Now, American officials have warned that any attempt to interfere directly with the vote itself will result in a US raid on a key Russian system.
Quoting "a senior intelligence official with top secret documents," an NBC News report US military claims that hackers have already joined Russia's electrical grid, communications, and the Kremlin command system. The programs are in the event of a US attack that disrupts the elections "in a significant way."
Officials have said that they do not anticipate a full digital attack from agents acting on behalf of the Russian government, but they do expect some “cyber mischief,” such as the release of fake documents and other forms of misinformation. There are also concerns over a possible attempt to slow down Americans’ internet access on election day, which could, for example, result in some people being unable to search the web for directions to their nearest polling station.
The US cyberwarfare capabilities are unknown, though military officials often say they are the most advanced in the world. The threat of retaliation for election interference has reportedly been delivered to Russia through back channels.
Russia responded to the "unprecedented size" US warning of threats himself. A spokesman said, "is not such a strange, unpredictable line, we have to take steps to protect our interests, somehow Hedge risks....The unpredictability is dangerous for the whole world."

It's going to be an interesting week.
