PRAYER OF FAITH VERSUS PRAYER OF FEAR (1)
READ JAMES 5:15

MEMORISE: And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. (James 5:15)

The opposite of faith is fear. When a Christian is not walking, praying or doing anything in faith, then he must be operating in/under fear. Prayer of faith is the prayer said with the conviction that God answers prayer, and that there is no impossibility with Him over any matter (Hebrew 11:6).
Do you ever think there is something impossible, which God cannot do? He created the universe with the word of His mouth; brought man from moulded clay, and the red sea parted miraculously. He raised the dead; gave children to the barren, won several battles for His people, without weapons of war. He rebuked the storm on the sea, and rained manna and quail from heaven. God's wondrous acts are too numerous to number. Therefore, anyone who has succeeded in assimilating the fact that God is a God of no impossibility (either by experience or experiment) will pray faith-induced prayer, with answer.
Pray because you know that God can do it, and that prayer can bring solution, not because fear is dictating for you. On several occasions, some Christians shout, 'Jesus! Jesus!!', with fear, when it seems the vehicle they board is going to have an accident. Some even use Jesus' name to 'kill' reptiles in their rooms. This kind of fear and emotional prayer relegates the power of faith and disappoints God. Therefore, with boldness and assurance, go in prayer to the throne of grace for results (Heb 4:16). Let faith inform your prayer, and not fear.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, I receive the courage to face my fear with substantial faith, in Jesus' name.
2. Henceforth, I refuse to pray cowardly, in Jesus' name.
3. Father, I receive the grace to come to Your throne with boldness for timely results, in Jesus' name.

GOD IS OUR HELP
READ PSALM 46:1, 2
MEMORISE: God is our refuge and strength, an
ever-present help in trouble. (Psalm 46:1)
The undisputable truth is that life works best
when there is help from the appropriate quarters.
Helplessness is a serious case, but the more
serious case is seeking help apart from God. The
Psalmist knew the importance of seeking help
from God; he said, I lift up my eyes to the hills -
where does my helps come from? (Psa 121:1).
Isaiah records the greatest assurance of God for
His people, especially His holy people when you
pass through the water... (Isaiah 43:2).
On daily basis, we are entangled with life
challenges. There are threats here and there. Our
comforts and conveniences are usually being
threatened from all angels. That is just the truth.
We are often tempted to denounce our hard
earned faith in Jesus and absolute trust in God.
Yet, the true children of God must realise they
have a Father who promised to be with them in
all life situations. He is the very big God, the
Father of all creature, who monitors the affairs
of the universe. He is unshakeable and
irresistible. The Psalmist recognised Him as our
refuge and strength, and a very present help in
trouble. That is who He is, and even more than
that.
Very present help, talks about God's ever
availability, evident in His omnipresence (present
everywhere at all times). When you need Him
most, He is right there to help you. He neither
fails nor comes late. He did not fail Daniel in the
lions' den, three Hebrews in fiery furnace. He will
never fail you so far you remain His true and
trustworthy child, and passionately EXPECT His
salvation/interventions.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord Jesus, help me to do exploits for you in
my generation as a youth.
2. Holy Spirit, I open my heart unto You, fill me
and let your gifts operate in me to do
supernatural exploits in your vineyard.
3. My children shall never be instruments of the
devil in any way. Instead, they shall serve the
Lord with all their strength from their youth.

A DOVE OR RAVEN?
READ GENESIS 8:6-12
MEMORISE: And sent out a raven, and it kept flying back and forth until the water had dried up from the earth. 8 Then he sent out a dove to see if the water had receded from the surface of the ground. (Genesis 8:7,cool

Who are you? What do the people take you for? Who we are, speaks volume on what we will do and what becomes of us. Our behavioural styles are composite parts of our personality make-ups. Let us consider the drama of two birds, dove and raven, in the passage picked for the text.
After the deluge, Noah sent a raven to examine the situation of things and later sent the dove, when the raven refused to come back. The dove is a biblical symbol of the divine Spirit of God (Luke 3:22). It is a model of peace, gentleness, justice, truth and all that Holy Spirit stands for. The Bible admonishes Christians to be like the dove, ... Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as dove (Matt 10:16).
While the raven went AWOL, the dove stayed with Noah and assisted him throughout the waiting period in the ark, confirming the adage that, "Even in adversity, the dove never deserts its owner".
The above picture depicts two parallel behavioural styles: the reliable and unreliable, dependable and undependable, sensible and insensible, patient and impatient, loyal and disloyal, faithful and unfaithful, etc. Your class is a reflection of your personality.
In your daily Christian journey, imbibe the gentle, peaceable, teachable, godly, lovely, and clean attitudes of the dove.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Oh Lord, let Your love permeate my life.
2. Lord, give Christians the character that reflect the life of Christ.
3. God, make the believers (the custodians of Your Gospel message) reliable, dependable and trustworthy as they discharge their God-given assignments.

AN EXPERIENCE OF NEW BEGINNING
READ GENESIS 8:1-22
MEMORISE: Come out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and their wives. (Gen 8:16)

Silas was a graduate of petrochemical engineering. Little did he know that God was up to something in his life, when he was retrenched from the civil service with an annual pay of Four Hundred And Ninety Thousand, Six Hundred And Fifty Five Naira (#490,655.00). Three months later, he got a job with a petrochemical company with a monthly earning of about three hundred thousand naira to start with.
The experience of new beginning will take you through the following stages in your life. 1. Remembrance: God remembered Noah... (v.1). Your new beginning starts when you are being remembered by God. Does God usually forget someone? Not really, but you have to bring God to awareness about your situation by praying the prayer of Nehemiah (Neh. 5:19). 2. Mop up: God caused the water on the surface of the earth to be dried. It is necessary in new beginning that the remnant from the part be mopped up. No sensible person puts the new wine into an old wine skin (Matt 9:16-17). 3. Let go. Noah came out of the ark. You have to put the past behind you. Isaiah says, Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? (Isaiah 43:18,19a). 4. Thanksgiving: Noah thereafter built an altar to God and offered burnt offering unto God for proper relationship and fellowship. For genuine and quality worship, an altar must be built. The altar of Noah and the sacrifice he offered on it earned him God's covenant. Celebration usually goes with new achievement. Enter your new beginning now.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Give me the reasons to laugh and celebrate this year, in Jesus' name.
2. Everyone currently undergoing periods of adversity, Oh Lord of mercy remember and visit them with glorious experience.
3. Lord God in heaven, grant all believers to have definite beginnings with You, and grace to continue in/with You forever.

GOD CARES FOR YOU
READ 1 PETER 5:7
MEMORISE: Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. (1 Peter 5:7)

It was a sunny and glorious Sunday morning, the one that ended that year, as a man of God was setting out to go to church, he caught a glimpse of the scene that changed his orientation about how to deal with burden or worrisome situations in life, which can change yours too. A hen was running seriously and haphazardly to escape from what was chasing it. The man could not find anything in particular apart from a black cellophane attacked to one of its legs. Having run for some time, it became tired and decided to see what the pursuer was. Lo, it was nothing but a lifeless and harmless cellophane, which effortlessly detached itself when the hen halted.
God knows you have some things you care about. You are right to be anxious and worried, but God is just and compassionate to ask you to relieve yourself of all worries, and cast them upon Him. Are you laden with heavy loads? Are you contemplating a suicide because you feel nothing is working again? Are you running from pillar to pole to get that burden removed? Here is the solution to your predicament. Jesus Christ has thrown a general call to everyone undergoing different kinds of difficulties, when He said, Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (Matt 11:28). Don't let your adversity drive you crazy. Hang on to Jesus. He was hanged for you. He has the capability to take your burden off you, in case you are too powerless to cast it off yourself, then He will give you your desired rest.
Thereafter, He will give you His own lightweight yoke, for submission to His will. He cares for you.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord Jesus, help me to do exploits for you in my generation as a youth.
2. Holy Spirit, I open my heart unto You, fill me and let your gifts operate in me to do supernatural exploits in your vineyard.
3. My children shall never be instruments of the devil in any way. Instead, they shall serve the Lord with all their strength from their youth.

DON'T GO TO EGYPT
READ GENESIS 26:1-6
MEMORISE: The LORD appeared to Isaac and said, "Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land where I tell you to live." (Gen 26:2)
Some people can patronise anybody, anywhere in search of assistance, or to acquire solution to their problems. Some in the bid to be free from their predicaments have ended up incurring more problems. Anyone who is fond of getting help from other sources apart from God is in danger of spiritual bondage and satanic yoke. Worse still, they are not free from God's wrath. That was what spelt the doom of King Saul. His visit to the witch of Endor finished him at the end. He became a history in Israel. That will never be your lot, in Jesus' name.
In today's text, Isaac decided to seek asylum in Egypt in order to survive the scourge of the famine, just like in the days of his father Abraham. Fortunately, God spoke, warning him to desist from sojourning in Egypt. Instead, he should stay in Gerar. Thank God he obeyed and diligently faced his job. God turned his fortune around and he became very prosperous even in the midst of the famine.
Obedience to God and godly instructions, even in the face of unpalatable circumstances, pays a lot. Egypt, in this context, simply refers to various places people go to seek help outside God. Our need for help, security, favour, promotion, healing, etc. is not a guarantee for us to patronise the herbalists, spirit medium, witch doctors, or sorcerers, or align with the occult. There can't be any justifiable reasons for anyone to align with the devil for fame, power, defence, security and position. Jesus never fell for his antics. God is the only reliable source of help.
When you turn to any source other than God for assistance, the implications are: 1. You withdraw from the grace and power of God; 2. You have concluded that God is not able, so that you need to assist Him; and 3. You are saying other sources are more powerful. Don't dare go to Egypt for help.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, I confess that You are my only help.
2. Not matter the situation, oh Lord, don't let me abandon You for other sources.
3. Pray that the Holy Spirit should visit and bring back every Christian who plans to quit the faith because of seemingly unsolvable problems.

GROWING YOUTHS FOR CHRIST
READ 1 TIMOTHY 1:1,2
MEMORISE: Treat younger men as brothers. (1 Tim 5:1)

When Father Abraham was told he would be given the Promised Land for an inheritance, it is most likely that he knew little that the promise would eventually be fulfilled in his posterity. His generation after Him possessed the Promised Land.
Anyone, nation or society that toys with the future of her youths toys with its tomorrow. The Bible wants us to know some crucial things about the youth/younger generations. Youths are the strength of any society. They are the productive population. The most populous set of people in any given race are the youths between ages 13 and 50. They are useful and active in the army, entertainment, sports, and paramilitary. Youths are strategic in the plan and programmes of God. They are energetic and productive. The problem with agriculture today is mostly because youths are not involved in it. They prefer white-collar jobs, thus existing to the urban centres in search of their desired jobs.
Everyone used actively by God were caught and called in their youthful age. Our Lord Jesus began the ministry in His prime. What about Gideon, Deborah, Esther, Joseph, Samuel, John the Baptist? Ayo Babalola was called when he was just 24 years old.
What are you doing with the young ones in your custody? Do you any succession plan? The youths make it possible. They will not be with you for life. Hope you are not seeing them as rivals? Only insecurity and inferiority complex will make you to do that. Examine Paul-Timothy relationship. Make good use of them for God's purpose and develop them for their Maker.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, make me a channel through which young ones will come to You.
2. Oh Lord, remove every stumbling blocks on the path of the youths and help them to appreciate Your finished work of redemption.
3. Oh Lord, deliver every child that is currently being abused in any form.

BEWARE OF GREED
READ LUKE 12:13-21
MEMORISE: Then He said to them, "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions." (Luke 12:15)

The tendency to want more, amass all, that eventually graduates to grab-it-all tendency is inherent in the natural man. The only different thing is the rate at which individuals demonstrate greed.
The Bible states four things that are never satisfied (Prov 30:16). What are they? Are you ever satisfied with whatever you have gotten? Do you know when to say 'enough' when the opportunity to gather comes your ways? What is your mind towards living in luxury? Do things like money, position, power, fame, gifts, etc. easily control you? What is your attitude towards properties belonging to others?
Exodus 20:17 warns, Do not desire another man's house, do not desire his wife, his slaves, his cattle, his donkeys, or anything else that he owns. Jesus used the opportunity of the request of the man in the crowd to address the issues of greed as it affects every one of us. The truth consists in:
1. Your life is not determined by your possessions (men, money and materials). If wealth can compare to the quality of man's life, why would the rich man be begging father Abraham to let Lazarus quench his thirst with an ordinary drop of water from his (Lazarus') fingertip, considering his affluence and influence while in the world? (Mk 8:35-37)
2. The greedy is usually prone to many kinds of evil. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs (1 Tim 6:10).
Remember Gehazi, Achan, Judas, and the likes. Their insatiable greed for gains ruined them and made them bad reference points. Beware of greed, says the Spirit.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, fish out and destroy the spirit of greed that wants to finish me.
2. Pray that God should deliver our youths from greedy tendencies.
3. Please Lord, let ministers who are being consumed by greed, materialism and position-consciousness be delivered now.

NO DISCIPLINE, NO DISCIPLESHIP!
READ HEBREWS 12:1-11
MEMORISE: No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. (Heb 12:11)

Nothing goes for nothing in life; everything that is worthwhile definitely has price tagged on it. It costs a serious minded and champion-inclined athlete regular training, abstinence from certain foods and drinks, regular gymnastics and other related routines, to reach the peak of his career. If you must rise to the zenith of your career, there is a price you must pay.
Everyone who believes in Jesus Christ as God's only begotten Son becomes His disciple by following His footsteps in all ramifications (cf. Acts 11:26). By following the Master, you will discover that your lifestyle, choice, taste and general disposition are affected. How? Others may, you cannot do some things, most especially, those things that contradict the dictates of the Bible. This clearly means others may have inordinate tastes and ambitions... Disciples of Christ cannot! While others can freely fight, abuse and curse, Christ's disciple cannot.
For one to be different in this wayward generation, prayer and fasting aren't the only keys. Godly discipline must go with it. If you claim to be Jesus' disciple but are avaricious (gluttonous), talkative, oversleeping, and engage in other forms of excessiveness, you lack discipline! All these must be cut off to be a true follower of Jesus. Malice, anger, rebellion, strife, vainglory, pride and the likes all bother on indiscipline. Are you having difficulty in eschewing any of these? Revisit Calvary for grace, help and deliverance. Yield to the Father's disciplinary measures. It pays in the end (Heb 12:11).

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Father, help me to be a disciplined disciple.
2. Lord Jesus, help me to duly pay the price of being Your disciple.
3. Pray that there will be revival of genuine lasting discipleship in our churches.

FEAR NO EVIL
READ PSALM 23:1-6
MEMORISE: Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. (Psa 23:4)

On every side, we are encompassed by evil, foes, woes, spiritual attacks and Satan's advances. Christians who play safe, at the end, play into the hands of the devil. It is safer to be aggressive, and to offensively take the battle to the enemy's domain.
Literally, the valley of the shadow of death means the darkest valley; a place of terror where you face all sorts of rubbish, e.g. human carcasses, animal carcasses, dangerous animals, etc. However, spiritually, it refers to the evil influence of the exterminator - angel of death or destruction.
When the shadow of death was cast upon the Egyptians, all their firstborns were wiped out overnight. The only place on the earth where death can never cast its shadow is in Christ. No matter the thickness and fierceness of the power of death, it has no single power over those who are under the shadow of the Almighty. Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty (Psa 91:1). Rather than the experience of evil, terror, anguish, danger, sorrow, they enjoy adequate comfort, consolation, peace, joy and protection. The reason is, the shadow of the Almighty overshadows and overpowers the shadow of death.
Death is an angel unleashed on earth to punish and give a worthy wage to sinners for their godlessness. Run into Christ (Prov 18:10) by accepting Him as your personal Lord and Saviour. Only then will you be free from the fear of all forms of evil (Isa 26:3; Jn 3:16).

PRAYER POINTS:
1. In Jesus' name, I conquer all my fears.
2. Lord, protect me from all evil, terror and adversity, in Jesus' name.
3. Lord, send Your light to people languishing in the bondage of fear occasioned by godless religions.

DON'T BE MERCILESS
READ MATTHEW 18:21-35
MEMORISE: Shouldn't you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?' (Matt 18:33)

Another dimension to mercy is forgiveness. In fact, forgiveness is an offshoot of mercy. To err is human, to forgive is divine. The bowel of mercy of God is always open to the sinner. God easily forgives.
There are quite a number of lessons to be learnt in the parable related in the text.
1. Forgiveness is an integral part of Christian character. No matter the gravity of the offence, you must forgive and continue to do so until the offence has been repeatedly carried out up to about 490 times, i.e. 70 times 7. Can a serious-minded Christian or any other person at all, be so mean as to counting up to 490 cases of offence by another?
2. God is merciful, and wishes that His children should do likewise. Jesus depicted the mercy of God by the attitude of the master who decided to let go of the debt. That is also an act of justification: cancellation of the sin as if the offender has never sinned before.
3. The unforgiving souls who professed to be Christians are disgruntled elements within the sacred body of Christ. They usually weary everyone, including God who showed and showered His mercy on them.
4. The lack of unforgiving spirit is the ruin of the unmerciful. Joab brought evil upon himself and his posterity because of his vengeful spirit and crookedness (2 Sam 3:26-30).
How can God forgive you when it is hard for you to forgive those who do you wrong. Unforgiving attitude is a demonstration of the works of the works of the flesh and an exhibition of godlessness. Do not be merciless!

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, give me the bowel of mercy to show love, compassion and kindness to people around, including those who hurt me.
2. Lord, I surrender my battles to You. Do not let vengeful spirit take over me.
3. Pray that God will suppress the spirit of bitterness and vengeance among the political class and religious leaders.

YOU NEED MERCY
READ LAMENTATIONS 3:22, 23
MEMORISE: Because of the LORD'S great love, we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail (Lamentations 3:22)

Jeremiah was a minister of God who actually saw hell in the discharge of his ministerial assignment. Those terrible challenges he faced would have overcome him but for the mercy of God which was at his beck and call. Therefore, he was speaking from experience in today's text.
Mercy can be illustrated by the benefit/favour a condemned offender who has already been tied to the stake for firing squad, receives. At the last minute, a pronouncement came ordering his immediate release. Mercy is responsible for deliverance, healing, blessing, favour, success and breakthrough. Do you need mercy?
Mercy will do the following for you: Speak for you. When God's mercy speaks for someone, every challenger becomes an encourager. Mercy will lift you up when others are being brought down. Mercy chases away sickness, death, pestilence, and makes peace to reign in one's territory. It qualifies a mere servant to sit in the seat of the princes, while lack of it can disqualify a prince, seating him in the dust. Great and unimaginable doors of opportunity will be opened to you. Finally, it brings the Divine face to face with your situation. Like the blind Bartimaeus (Mk 10:46ff), why not call upon Jesus now for the mercy your life requires?

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Mercy must speak for my situation, in Jesus' name.
2. Oh Lord, let your mercy guide me throughout my journey in life; don't let me walk and work outside Your mercy.
3. Pray for those in prison that the Light of the gospel will graciously reach them with the mercy of God to save and release them.

THE PICTURE OF YOUR FUTURE
READ JEREMIAH 29:10-19
MEMORISE: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jer 29:11)

Many at times, when the thick cloud covers the firmament and all is gloomy, it appears as if there is no element of brightness, glory or resplendence therein. 'Tough times,' they say, 'never last, but tough people do.' Tough people have problems, but they win at last (Jn 16:33). Meanwhile, you can still see a portrait of your future amidst tough darkness if you can or have identified with the Light of The world. Jesus, as the Light of the world, is able and more than able to beam light on your path in order to know which way to trudge to your divinely destined future.

If you are considering the present spate of bad economy, insecurity, ineptitude of the government, unpaid salaries, corruption, and other headache-giving issues, you may have a wrong picture of the future. Many think Christians don't have any hope here on earth, given the fact that the devil seems to be the god of this earth! That is an erroneous thought, because it is while living on this earth that we solidify our hope of eternity. The devil is only a master to those who surrender their God given authority and dominion to him. Since you have chosen to worship no one else than the Lord of the universe who created and has re-created you in Christ, you are covered, secured from the devil's devices. The events in the world cannot dictate or determine your destiny. You are designed eternally for somewhere.

You have a bright future secured in Jesus Christ. You cannot afford to put it away. You must see this in light of the Word of God. You can't afford to fail. Look up to Christ; your future is greatly bright in Him!

PRAYER POINTS:
1. I know that I can make it. I know and I confess. No matter what may come my way. My life is in Your hands. Sing and confess this courageously.
2. Devil. There is nothing you can do with my now and future. My life is secure in Christ, in Jesus' name.
3. Commit the future of your children into the hands of the Lord, that He will make them great for Him, everywhere He locates them.

THE LIVING AMONG THE DEAD

READ: 1CORINTHIANS 6:15-20

MEMORISE: And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. (1Cor 6:11).

15 Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. 16 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. 17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. 18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. 19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. (1 Corinthians 6:15-20)

MESSAGE:
If you have a friend and he tells you that his house is somewhere around the cemetery area, definitely you will take a second look at him. You will not like to associate with such a friend henceforth because graveyards are for the dead and not for the living. Some ancient women also looked for the living among the dead. Thank God that they were given angelic query:why do you seek the living among the dead?

You have been positioned with Christ in the heavenly places. He made us alive, who were once dead in trespasses and sins (Eph 2:1). He has made you alive in Jesus Christ. Even when we were dead in trespasses, He made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved) - Eph 2:5.

When you give your life to the Lord Jesus Christ, you are alive and no longer dead. Sinners are dead in their sins. If so, why do we find the living among the dead? Why still mingling with sinners again? You have said that you will no longer steal, be angry, drink, backbite, gossip, fornicate, commit adultery, smoke, and watch pornography. Why are you going back into such foolish and deadly acts of sin?

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - His good, pleasing and perfect will. (Rom 12:1-2). Get out of the dead!

PRAYER POINTS:
1. I am alive afresh in Jesus Christ today and always in Jesus' name.
2. I refuse to join the dead in their sin and live in the graveyard of sin, in Jesus' name.
3. God, be alive in your Church in our Land with your Person and Presence, in d mighty name of Jesus

THE CROSS OF LOVE
READ JOHN 19:12-18
MEMORISE: Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creations, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:39)

What a wondrous love! What is there about the cross of Christ that gives it such great power and unfading glory? From the earliest history, the cross has been known as the "accursed tree", an instrument of torture, a place of punishment for the most hardened, wicked criminals, a mark of deepest shame and disgrace. However, since the time of Christ, the cross began to beautify great cathedrals and beautiful altars. Throughout Christendom, it is the symbol of all that is true and holy, all that is noble and merciful and loving. If we understand this, we know why the Cross "towers over the wrecks of time".
The Cross symbolises God's great love for us. It is neither an accident nor a tragedy, but the universal sign of God's love for the sinful man. The cross is the only adequate explanation of John 3:16. Our Father was not compelled to permit the Cross; His love for us constrained Him. Willingly Christ gave His life because He loved us and desired us to live with Him in His eternal kingdom. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends (Jn 15:13). Love led Jesus to Calvary. Love costs.
Implication: Have you accepted that inexplicable love of Christ by accepting His lordship? If 'Yes', are you showing that love to the people around you? Demonstrate His love in all ways, and you will be called His child to eternity.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Thank God for allowing and strengthening His Son Jesus Christ to bear the agony of the Cross for our sake.
2. Pray that the power and victory of the Cross will continue to prevail for the Church of Christ everywhere.
3. Ask God to help us understand the meaning of the Cross, and help others to understand, appreciate and encounter it appropriately.

NATURAL TO SHAKE, BUT...
READ MATTHEW 26:31-46
MEMORISE: Going a little farther, He fell with His face to the ground and prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will." (Matt 26:39)

About yesterday's evening in the calendar of the Passion Week of Christ, Jesus had just finished the Last Supper with His disciples, and Judas had just been overtaken by his long-nursed excessive desire for money. Overnight, Jesus went along with 3 of His disciples to Gethsemane for agonising prayer. There, something spectacular happened for your challenge today and now.
The disciples He went with were so heavy with sleep and despair that they couldn't watch with Him. The greatest and most horrific hour of paying the ransom for our redemption was very much around the corner, and the disciples knew not. Knowing this and critically examining the horrific involvements of that critical hour, the human in Jesus came to fore as He exclaimed, My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. No thanks to the disciples discouraging posture in the garden. However, we thank God for the influence of the indwelling Holy Spirit (cf. Matt 3:16, 17) Who 'helped' Jesus to bear the shameful Cross.
If Jesus, as God and godly as He is, could be 'shaken' (humanly speaking) by such a critical moment, who are you not to be hit by life challenging situations? (Jn 16:33; Phil 1:29) Are there points where you find your cross seemingly heavy? It is human to 'shake', but don't attempt to cut it. Just that you need the Holy Spirit who empowered Jesus then, and you also need to boldly go to the throne of mercy for automatic help (Heb 4:14-16). The result of Jesus' sacrifice is the perfect example (Phil 2:5ff). So, even where and when the challenge 'shakes' you, don't allow it to make you fall.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, I refuse to be a victim of life circumstances, in Jesus' name.
2. Holy Spirit, assist every brother or sister who is at the verge of giving in to the devil's pressure due to the seeming severity.
3. Lord, help Christians in the nation to hold Your forth, no matter how fierce the devil's onslaught may be.

POUR OUT YOUR ALL

READ: MATTHEW 26:6-13

MEMORISE: I tell you the truth, wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her (Matt 26:13)

6 ¶ Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, 7 There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat. 8 But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste? 9 For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor. 10 When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me. 11 For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always. 12 For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial. 13 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her. (Matt. 26:6-13 KJV)

MESSAGE: Though we may not be important in the affairs of state, and though we work only in the most obscure of places, where we will never hear a praising word from human voice, there is still a record of our deeds. A golden day would break soon when a rich and grand reward would come to us. God’s praise is far better than man’s stuttering words of appreciation.
It seemed to some (the likes of Judas) as if Mary’s very expensive ointment was wasted when she broke the alabaster box and poured it on her Christ. Suppose she did not break the container nor pour out the ointment, could there have been a remembrance of her act of love? It surely wouldn’t have been recorded in the gospel story. Surely, her deed would not have been told all over the whole world. She broke the vase and poured it out like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the bear, running down on Aaron’s was her sacrifice. Now, the perfume from that precious ointment fills all of the earth. She innocently anointed her Lord and Saviour!
Only if life is poured out in loving service will it be a blessing to the world. Then and only then will there be reward. God will remember such a giver forever, and now and later, the reward may be unimaginable..
What are you ready to pour out for the Lord that can be credited to your spiritual account in God’s record book? Don’t withhold it because of the consideration of the pains involve. The reward is incomparable by all standards.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Thank God for all of His endowments upon your life.
2. Prayer that God would help you to give back to Him all He has given you.
3. Prayer that God should destroy the spirit of cheating, stealing and robbery in the hearts of our leaders every where.

LIVE A CHALLENGING LIFE
READ REVELATION 14:13-20
MEMORISE: Then I heard a voice from heaven say, "Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on. Yes, "says the Spirit, "they will rest from their labour, for their deeds will follow them." (Rev 14:13)

The number of years you spend on earth amounts to nothing if you fail to leave indelible mark upon the sand of times. Andrew Murray (1828-1917), whose father was a Scottish missionary sent to South Africa in the 18th century, was a Christian writer, teacher, and pastor whose life and time is worth studying. In front of an old church in Wellington, South Africa, there is a beautiful marble statue with the face toward the street. Sinners feared to pass that way home. They said, 'The old minister will see us, and he will be angry.' They had respect even for Murray's statue! What a man whose ordinary image still serves as warning signal of an impending doom for sinners!

Travel to Ikeji Arakeji, Osun State, Nigeria where exists a spiritual resort and memorial prayer centre attracts thousands from around the world. The life and times of our Great Apostle Ayo Babalola, no doubt, remains a challenge to Christians.

Andrew Murray, Joseph Ayo Babalola and several others, in the Bible and contemporary world remain an indictment on us, should our lives fail to challenge people positively into wholesomely embracing the full, free and final grace available in Jesus (1 Cor 10:11, 12; Heb 11:1ff).

Are you ready to live for Christ's Gospel, creating indelible positive mark on earth? What would be said of your life and time when you pass on? You cannot be here forever! Start doing God's will more than ever before today.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. O Lord, I covet the divine grace to live a positively challenging life.
2. Holy Spirit, help me to live my life with eternity in view always.
3. Lord, help all Christian, civil, political and traditional leaders and servants to carry out their duties with eternity in view.

NO GREATER LOVE (2)
READ LUKE 23:33-43
MEMORISE: Jesus Said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” (Luke 23:34)

33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. 34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots. 35 And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God. 36 And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar, 37 And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself. 38 And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS. 39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. 40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. 42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. 43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. (Luke 23:33-43 KJV)

MESSAGE:

Life is the most valuable thing we possess; and when a man is willing to lay that down for his friends or his country, it shows the utmost extent of love. He, who gives up his life for his friends, gives up all that he has. And even this love for friends has been rarely witnessed.

The friendship between David and Jonathan is well known: the latter cheerfully gave up his crown for his friend, though he was very way worthy to wear it. But, when all these instances of rare friendship and affection are seen, read and admired, let the affected reader turn his astonished eyes to Jesus pouring out His blood, not for His friends, but for His ENEMIES (Rom 5:8,10), and in the agonies of death, making supplication for His murderers, with Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do!

This is mission accomplished; the fullest proof that God could give, or that man could receive, of his infinite love to the world. No force is greater than the power of God’s love. He came, lived and died as a sacrifice that all may be saved (1Tim 2:3-6; 1John 4:9). Even on the cross, Jesus still cared. There is no sin His blood cannot evict and cleanse, neither is there no guilt that cannot be purged. It does not matter what people have said (are saying) about you, even the conviction and condemnation of your heart notwithstanding, the blood of Jesus Christ is enough to cleanse you! Run to Him today and be saved.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Here I am; save me.
2. Help me, Lord, to continue in Your love all the days of my life, come what may.
3. Pray for as many as possible who are yet to appreciate and accept the immeasuravle love of Christ around you.

NO GREATER LOVE(1)
READ: JOHN 15:8-13
MEMORISE: Greater love has no one than this that he lay down his life for his friends. (John 15:14).

The story is told of a mother hen who went far into a bush with her chicks to feed, but was caught unawares by the torrents of bushfire. The animal having lost all struggles to escape the flames, decided to save her chicks, dug up a little earth, gathered them there, using herself as their covering and eventually became roasted to death. This poorly and insufficiently typifies Christ's sacrifice, which our sins required, and desired by God. But the deliberate and sacrificial death matters to us, not that He was limited.
Some have supposed that the discourse in John 15-16 was delivered in the room where the Lord's Supper was instituted, and that, as they had made use of wine, Jesus took occasion from that to say that He was the true vine, and that His blood was the real wine that was to give life to the soul. The discourse could be summed up this way:"This proof of my love for you, I shall give in a few hours; and the doctrine which I recommend to you I am just going to exemplify myself that there is no higher expression of love that could be given." That Jesus gave His life so we could live eternally with God is the ultimate proof of love. Believe and receive it today.

The Gospel hymn renders: "Wonderful story of love; Tell it to me again; Wonderful story of love; Wake the immortal strain; Angels with rapture announce it; Shepherd with wonder receive it, Sinner, O won't you believe it? Wonderful story of love...." Have you accepted the incredible TRUTH?
Have you experienced that love? If 'Yes', keep it. If 'No', see yourself as a sinner, see Jesus as your saviour, confess those sins, ask for forgiveness and cleansing, and accept the lordship of Jesus. Victory is yours from that junction when faith is established in your heart, and confession is made with your mouth. Experience it NOW!

PRAYER POINTS:
1. O Lord, my heart I give to You totally; let it be Yours irretrievably.
2. O Lord, help me to show Your true love to everyone I come across in every way, in Jesus' name.
3. Ask that the Lord should help the Church in this land to show His true love to the world in all ways, not by empty declarations, but by daily practical demonstrations.

Enlisted For Mercy
Read Romans 9:1-16
MEMORISE: For he says to Moses, "I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion." (Romans 9:15).

Mercy and compassion are two operational words in the above text. Mercy is compassion, kindness or forgiveness shown especially to somebody a person has power over. Mercy is expressed when one is blessed, whereas, compassion is sympathy for the suffering of others, which often includes the desire to help.
Mercy is one of the sovereign attitudes of God. Better still, it is the makeup of God. Mercy and compassion are functions of God's grace and love. The grace of God qualifies one for God's mercy. God's grace is demonstrated fully alone in Jesus Christ. No more, no less. That is exactly what the Bible is expressing in the text.

Variables like colour, race, height, status, age and location are not strong determinants of whether someone would receive mercy or not. Nothing was yet known of Esau and Jacob when God revealed His preference for the younger Jacob. This is a function of mercy.
Candidates of mercy are God's people whom He has predestined to be His, and whom have chosen Him as their Lord and King. Are you one of them, washed in the blood of the Lamb? Anyone who refuses the love of God through faith in Jesus Christ has not only delisted himself from receiving mercy, but equally invites condemnation on Himself.
Finally, if you have found God's mercy, be merciful to others (Matt 5:7).

PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord Jesus, have mercy on me; show me mercy so that my life will not remain the same again.
2. Merciful Lord, help me to show mercy to people around me.
3. Lord, let the Church be more merciful and compassionate towards the less privileged.

HONOUR YOUR MARRIAGE
READ HEBREWS 13:4
MEMORISE: Marriage should be honoured by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. (Hebrews 13:4)

The trend in marriages these days is disturbing and discouraging. More people, unbelievers and believers alike, have less regard for this holy and honourable institution of God, treating it with levity and abject disdain. What is God's standard concerning marriage?
God owns everything in heaven and on earth, including marriage; He is the institutor (Gen 2:18-25). Every owner/designer has specifications for the product, as well as directions for its use. Deviation from the norm is dangerous and injurious. The Bible, not the constitution of any nation or culture/tradition of any people, is marriage Owner's guide for those who care for the ideal biblical marriage.
Also, marriage is a covenant supervised by God, hence its binding nature.... the LORD is acting as the witness between you and the wife of your youth,... the wife of your marriage covenant (Mal 2:14). It is sacred. The two parties involved become one unbreakable body, as in the Christ-Church union (Eph 5:21-33). This is a mystery. Marriage covenant breakers are in for serious trouble; God doesn't favour such, no matter who is involved.
How honourable is your marriage? It will be to the extent that you accept God in Christ Jesus as its institutor and accredited Owner, and its indivisibility (Mal 2:13-16). As you honour God, love and honour (respect) your spouse. Your love for God should also be evident in how you honour marriage bed, not defiling it - distastefully avoiding pre-marital and extra-marital sexual relationships. Don't embark on what you will live to regret. Honour your marriage!

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, my marriage and home must honour You always.
2. Lord, help marriages that are undergoing trying times to sail through without wreckage.
3. Lord, assist every couple to acknowledge that You own the marriage institution, so that they can lock the door of their homes against Satan.

BE DISCIPLINED
READ HEBREWS 12:4-12
MEMORISE: No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but
painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of
righteousness and peace for those who have been trained
by it (Hebrews 12:11)
'War against indiscipline' was a popular slogan during a
Military regime in Nigeria. Did the people really sustain the
war? As a matter of fact, every individual must raise fierce
war against every act of indiscipline, if success is to be
achieved. Indiscipline should be abhorred. Apart from the
fact that it tags the lawless, as regards both the traditional
and constitutional laws of the land, it pitches one against the
Holy God. To be indiscipline is to be too loose, unruly,
insubordinate, disruptive and uncontrollable.
People who are too loose usually lose out from the hall of
the outstanding. That is, achieving excellence in any
endeavour is far-fetched from he who lacks discipline. Such
are simply like a city with broken down walls.
Discipline is a close associate of diligence. It leads to
honour, riches and wealth. Discipline is an essential key to
lasting success. Discipline requires endurance,
perseverance and forbearance (v.7). Discipline assisted
Jesus, our Lord, to fulfil His God-given destiny. Discipline
enthrones and elevates. Christians need self-discipline to
tackle the menace of sin (v.4).
Reuben and Amnon ruined their glorious destinies due to
lack of discipline. They died unfulfilled. Absalom and Judas
died untimely on account of impropriety. Discipline will
assist a believer to be free from weights and distractions
(v.1). God keeps us in shape and aligns us with His will
through discipline. Discipline is a trainer. It is painful and
unattractive at present, but on the long run, it is profitable
and productive (v.11). Job vowed not to lustfully look at a
virgin. Joseph refused to have carnal knowledge of his
master's wife. Jesus refused the offer of the devil. Be
disciplined. Learn to say no to all gifts and appearances of
evil.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, deliver me from attitudes (manifestations of self)
that can ruin me.
2. Lord, help me to be malleable, so that all You have in
stock for me can come to pass.
3. Lord, save the believers and leaders of Your people from
the spirit of indiscipline.

TURNING POINT - THE PRODIGAL SON
READ LUKE 15:11-24
MEMORISE: When he came to his senses, he said, 'How many of my father's hired men have food to spare, and here I am starving to death!' (Luke 15:17)

Turning point is the period of self-discovery and self-awareness regarding one's prevalent status of loss, such that one is ready to make a positive change. Backsliders need turning points like the prodigal son, when he said to himself, 'How many of my father's hired men have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired men' (Luke 15:17-19). This decision eventually led to his deliverance from death, and restoration to the father's undoubted love, inexhaustible forgiveness and care.
Nicodemus was a good religious leader among the Pharisees. But that he met Jesus that night, his life would have remained the same. Apostle Paul thought he was pursuing God's course by committing the early Christians to death, until he met Jesus Christ on the road to Damascus. That was his turning point (Acts 9:1-6).
Prophet Moses was a shepherd in the wilderness. His turning point came when he saw and was sensitive to the burning bush. He said, I will go over and see this strange sight - why the bush does not burn up (Exo 3:3). Peter's turning point came the day he met Christ after he had laboured all night in his fishing business. The miraculous catch endeared him to the Saviour in an encounter he couldn't have easily forgotten.
Have you had such a definite encounter with Christ? Are you born again? If not, let today be your turning point. Confess your sin now, and accept Christ's lordship. Let Him start to live the new life in you (Gal 2:20). That is all.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, please reveal to me the very person You see me to be on Your error-free radar.
2. Lord, give my life, home, business and ministry the needed turning points, unto Your eternal glory.
3. Oh Lord, You have got this nation in Your hands. Let there be positive turnaround for the sake of Your people in the nation.
