Ibo refugees fleeing Nigeria back to their ancestral land passing through the Midwest were never harmed. Instead, in places like Benin, the indigenes provided food and succour to ibos on transit.

All that ended when Ojukwu invaded and occupied the Midwest. From that point on both Biafran soldiers and Ibo civilians began terrorising the non ibos in the Midwest. Arrests, tortures, extortion, murders and raping of non 8bo civilians began. The atrocities committed by your Biafran soldiers and Ibo civilians on hapless civilians of non Ibo heritage in the Midwest pales significantly to what minorities trapped in Biafra faced.

It is from this point that anti Ibo sentiments took root.

You should be grateful to Gowon's post war policy of No Victor, No Vanquished which wanted to have you reintegrated into Nigerian society . If Gowon had done what was expected , which is to re-enact a Nurumberg court to have your war criminals trialed openly in a court of law, and survivors and victims of their atrocities given their day in court to testify , you won't be posting this rubbish today and you would have been facing a hundred times worse discrimination.
