Then Zelensky came and tore the agreement despite promising to reunite the country peacefully and to strengthen ties with Russia during his campaigns for office.

Russia was then forced to come to the rescue of the hapless citizens of Eastern Ukraine and officially absorbed them into the Russian Federation. The ongoing war is happening because Ukraine refuses to abide not only by the Minsk Agreement but it's own constitution that allows any region to secede on their own volition.

As I said, if you don't know what's behind the ongoing war in Ukraine, better just shut up.
