Update on Search and Rescue of NNPC Staff


Yesterday Tuesday 25th July 2017, at about 3.00pm, suspected Boko Haram terrorists ambushed the escort and team of Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) staff returning from oil exploration at Barno Yasu, Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno State.

On receipt of the information, the Brigade mobilized and sent reinforcement, search and rescue party that include the Armed Forces Special Forces and guides that worked and pursued the terrorists throughout the night.

So far, they have rescued all the NNPC staff and recovered the corpses of the Officer, 8 soldiers and a civilian have who have been evacuated to 7 Division Medical Services and Hospital.

The team recovered 4 vehicles one of which include a gun truck mounted with an Anti-Aircraft Gun, 2 white Hilux taken away from NNPC staff and 1 blue Hilux belonging to CJTF. They team also recovered large quantities of arms and ammunition, several spare tyres, many jerry cans of containing Petroleum, Oil and Lubricant, assorted drugs, Improvised Explosive Device (IED) making materials, reflective jackets and a Motorola handheld radio, among others. The team also neutralized many of the terrorists.

The troops are not relenting in the pursuit, search and rescue effort.

This happened due to what is happening in d NE. Just few days ago BH attacked close to dat area n carted away weapons and a gun truck. D soldiers action happened because our politicians were there to inspect something I can't talk on. Imagine d idiets took advantage of the people around knowing fully well dat we can't just start exchanging bullets like dat. So now imagine d driver was BH & did lots of damages to nearby civilians u guys will be the ones to shout " useless soldiers blah blah . Dey can't do anything" but now d soldiers took a preemptive action to curtail dat, civilians still grumble. Well thank God we are humans and not God abi d government to device for us. Think people

COAS GRANTS SPECIAL PROMOTION TO 6,199 SOLDIERS SERVING IN OPERATION LAFIYA DOLE

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General TY Buratai, has today Tuesday 25th July 2017, approved the special promotion of 6,199 soldiers serving in Operation LAFIYA DOLE to various ranks between Lance Corporals to Warrant Officers in the Nigerian Army. 

The breakdown of the beneficiaries of the special promotion are as follows:

1. Staff Sergeants - Warrant Officers –329.
2. Sergeants – Staff Sergeants –371.
3. Corporals – Sergeants –707.
4. Lance Corporals – Corporals –1,290.
5. Privates – Lance Corporals –3,502.
Total 6,199.



The COAS congratulates the beneficiaries and urged them to increase the tempo of the ongoing clearance operations of the Boko Haram terrorists in the North East.

INTERCEPTION OF SUICIDE BOMBER

At about 2120hrs, tps of D Coy 251 Bn intercepted a female suicide bomber while trying to infilterate Dalori IDP Camp 2 near Maiduguri.

The suicide bomber attempted to jump over the fence but was challenged by tps who engaged her which resulted in the detonation of her suicide vest killing the bomber only.

No casualty on tps and civilians. However, the explosion created a hole on the fence.

The date it happened would have been better to know what to say because another two suicide bombers were intercepted; 1 blew herself up same day 22 Jul while the second gave up the idea & surrendered to troops of 103 BN.

Soldier was traveling with his male friend from 3 div to Abuja for a military errand. On coming back from abuja getting to Ganawuri area of Plateau. They had a flat tyre and he came down with his friend to fix d bulged tyre. Den it was getting dark, all of a sudden d friend saw a flashlight coming towards them & told d soldier dey should hide in the bush d soldier refused and said he is with a cutlass and he would cut them IF they are attacked. Lo & behold they were thieves they came closer and attacked them. They shot him in the arm he fell down and the thieves went to meet the friend and all of a sudden the soldier said " i be soldier o" this infuriated dem & they turned to finish him off. That's all i can spit out.

RIP soldier.
