derecho: If not for bias, I expected you to see consistency in what he's been saying even when he wasn't vying for any post.
The average Nigerian politician is a different person in an election year and shouldn't be taken serious.
That said, What other better way do you prepare for an election. If not consistently proffering solutions before election and sustaining it? It's not every one that gets a "structure" by inducing other thieves and calling it strategy or building networks.
He, Obi, has been preparing by engaging Youths and intellectuals for years. You can go to Lagos Business School and ask about him.
He is not your regular devious politician but very strategic.
You're making the same mistake. All over and over again.
Fast forward to post primary election. Asiwaju has visited virtually all the presidential aspirants that competed against him to seek their support so they can work together as a team. He knows these people hold blocs or voters which will be useful for his agenda.
You mentioned Obi, how has he prepared for presidency since he lost the election in 2019?
None of these young candidates are prepared for presidency. When they lose election, they will go back to their business and you won't hear from them again. We had Covid, EndSars and other burning issues that they could have used to boost their popularities and canvas against the coming election. You won't see them. While they were busy with their business, Asiwaju was celebrating his birthday in Kano, donating thousands of bags of rice to the North and sending sympathy messages to them. I'm not saying Asiwaju is a good person. After all this is said and done, Asiwaju will get Northern votes and you will claim he rigged or the North are Nigeria's problem. If you are serious about governance, you will start preparing since the day you lose not coming out six months to election claiming you want to liberate youths or the country.
AngelicBeing: Hahaha, l like your first sentence, you said that you agree that he is a thief but he is a theif but good in governance and well prepared for the 2023 elections, l also agree with you
If you read my piece from the beginning, you will see where I wrote that I've never been a fan of Asiwaju and I stated reasons why I'm voting him. Asiwaju has his flaws but this topic is about the level of preparedness of candidates towards 2023 general elections. You can state how your preferred candidate has prepared to win the election or has prepared for presidency in the last 4 years. Emphasis on the last 4 years
zenius: The danger in the north supporting him as they are pretending do may just be because they've envisaged a 'Yaradua' scenario playing out. It may sound ominous or like a wish, but it's not. Take a close look at that man, you'll know he's very sick and frail. I hope a certain region wouldn't cry foul for presenting their worst candidate.
I come in peace!
Why won't the North support Asiwaju? Tell me. He's been strategically having his birthday in the North, sending donations for crisis and sympathizing with them over calamities. So will the North support someone that just showed up for their votes or an Asiwaju that donated thousands of bags of rice to them. I could remember how many of you insulted him and call him an asslicker for that act. Now he's benefitting from it and you're complaining. So who should the North support?
Freestainworld: Person wey get Parkinson disease, hand just dey shake up and down Na em dey prepare pass, e go rule you shaa, a vibrant man will get my vote.
When Fayose wanted to become governor of Oyo state, he started visiting the delegates immediately another tenure started in the state. He even helped some to work on their farm.
It's all about your level of seriousness and preparedness. How prepared is your vibrant man? How many people has he met in the last 4 years (not months)?
How many political issues has he suggested solutions to in the last 4 years?
Urheadmaster: Probably because its now or never for him
Not at all. While some candidates were going about their normal businesses after losing election in 2019, Asiwaju started making consultations. Even the Bible says whatever your hand finds doing, do it with your might. Ecc 9:10.
He was serious about his business of becoming a president. Even if he will need to rig, buy voters etc. He had everything planned. There's a particular candidate that just popped out of nowhere now and wants to become president. It's not done anywhere in the world. You need to do your homework properly which Asiwaju has done
I agree with you but that's on another topic. This topic is about who's most prepared for presidency. He didn't just come out 6 months to election to say he wants to be president. He was even the first to declare his ambition, he's been making consultations since 2019 which showed in the primary results.
I have carefully written this piece to postulate on why I feel Tinubu is the most prepared candidate for presidency. These are strictly my opinions and unsponsored post. P.S. I have never been a fan of Tinubu or a political party but I am voting for Tinubu in the forthcoming election and here’s why: 1. Making Lagos Self Reliant: It is no news that Asiwaju was governor of Lagos state and did not receive local government allocations from then President Olusegun Obasanjo. Asiwaju was able to generate IGR within Lagos, made the state self-reliant, won re-election and infact his LCDA proposal to Obasanjo then was not only approved for Lagos, it became a model for Local Governments across the country. 2. Unbiasly Putting Square Pegs in Square Holes: Asiwaju has been known to work with the best team available. It is very common to politicians to reward their elites with political posts by making them state commissioners, giving them contracts or other juicy appointments but you can bank on some names when it comes to appointment by Tinubu. Some of them include Osinbajo, Fashola, Fowler, Aregbesola, Muiz Banire, Yemi Cardoso. Pemit me to extend the list to Joe Igbokwe, Sam Egube and Kabiru Ahmed Abdullahi. Asiwaju doesn’t care where you come from, if you can do the work, you will get the job. 3. He is ready for Presidency: Immediately the 2019 election was concluded, I was still in Ekiti state and could remember vividly how some BAT 2023 groups popped up and his people already started canvassing for him. This is long before he declared his ambition. At first, I thought it was a joke until Asiwaju was seen on different occasions making donations to North, moving his birthday celebrations to Kano state while some aspirants were not even in the show. We saw how the primaries played and Asiwaju made history for having 7 aspirants stepped down for his ambition, a masterpiece move no one saw coming. I can categorically beat my chest to the fact that Asiwaju even has his ministerial list already. 4. LASTMA, VIO, RRS and Neighbourhood Watch: Despite the cry of other states over insecurity and attack, Lagos is one of the most peaceful states in the country. Asiwaju’s influence on RRS arrangement and the creation of Neighbourhood watch is something commendable. The Neighbourhood watch has employed a lot of youth and are currently lending a hand to security and transport officers. LASTMA and VIO are other notable organizations set up through Asiwaju’s road map and they’ve been constantly providing jobs for Lagos youths and making giant strands in the transport system. These are few points I’ve carefully listed to show why I’m voting for Asiwaju and believe in his presidency. I believe preparation is key to making good governance, Asiwaju went from being Lagos leader to regional leader then presidency unlike many aspirants that only show up when election is left with 6 months. I believe he will do a better job than the current administration based on the points listed above. Any ulterior opinions are hereby welcomed.
Pearl1910: Nothing will happen to me, I will live long to see my great grand children in health and vitality. Unlike u wey don exchange ur soul for peanuts.
U no get point cos anybody wey wise sabi say u cant know what will happen in the next minute. So going by ur point, u for say make him remind u 30 seconds to the declaration of results. Otonu. Two weeks too much cos something fit happen to u before they announce the results.
Even today news is flying around about a merger between Atiku, OBI and Kwankwaso. You want to quickly commit any money (if I even have it). Wait till 2 weeks to election or 1 month sef. The parties are even yet to submit their names to INEC and you say you're politically literate?
Pearl1910: So that u will change mouth abi. The Man that is calling for the bet isn't also sure of d situation 2 weeks to election but he is ready to stake his money now. Na only mouth u get.
What if we pay into your account now and something happens to you before next year election nko?
IFSHR: Your jagaban will cry when the northern result starts rolling in....you think Hausa will vote for tinubu over Atiku...if you think so then you a baby political analyst.
tunlapapa: Not anybody mate because people like you made him so. I am sure you are in 30s, was it not your age mate that won presidential election in France? How old was canada's PM when he became PM? How old were these sets of politicians when there came into power? Here we vote on sentiments; tribe, religion... It would have been a proud thing if the youths like you are clamouring for presidency but the peanut you want to get has clouded your thoughts so much that you are OK with peanuts you get from Uche.
I love peanuts and Jagaban will win the next election either you like it or not
pope191: You can't pinpoint or dispute reality and let the story be that, because they are facts. Peter Obi will win in Apga? Is Apga a state? You know it is Atiku plan... are you part of his team? These are the problems, you guys always want to argue politics without actual fact as if you are privileged to the deliberation and meetings they keep sitting for time after time. I am not saying you are a fool, please don't get me wrong, but it only take one to be absolute in politics. If they tell you APC chairman wasnt ready to mess Tinubu up in the just concluded primaries, then you've allowed Uche get the best of you. It took last minute meetings, NGF to rescue the situation. In politics, the game is on till the eleventh hour, anything can happen, best be observing.
Apga in Anambra state...
Jagaban no be anybody mate for Nigeria and he will win the forthcoming election and Obi will not win a state
IFSHR: Since you have an assured stat, you really trust that point to the fact that obi won't win a state in the next presidential election ...can we make a bet of 200k then.....we pay into the account of pearl
Pearl1910: What's ur issue with OBI OBI OBI since day before yesterday. Obi will give u heart attack o. Leave him alone, he will not win any state. Support your candidate jeje and leave other candidates alone...
pope191: I did because I don't like to argue politics, live with your view and let me live with mine, but since its a constructive argument, no wahala.
When you say Peter Obi can't win a state, are you saying it out of politicking or he's not just the right candidate? I understand how it is difficult for a party without structure or money to buy votes to win a general election, but you might be rudely shock if you underestimate the awareness going on right now. Nigerians are tired and you are about to witness another dimension of election pretty soon.
If you ask me, I'll say Ndi-Igbo should align with the Northerners this time, since we southerners don't want to have sense, all we do is hate and tackle each other stupidly. Tinubu did same in 2015 and he is expecting his pay back. Tinubu is not grounded in SS and SE, he have issue with Edo governor, Delta is a no no, PH is Wiked, Akwa Ibom & Cross river doesn't want to hear APC not to talk of Tinubu. Now you should know SE is on a default setting when it comes to PDP. So an Atiku and Obi ticket will surely send BAT back to his rabbit hole. I can't even believe I am campaignin for Atiku, he careless, our Dubai candidate running since 1992, so many money to recoup if he eventually become.
Back to your BAT... you all think Tinubu turned Lagos to paradise Lagos, PH, Kano are the eyes central of every state, the IGR is enough to perform. Sighting Lagos for example, have you ever seen any state taxing motorist 150k for an offence? What's way one in cities like Asaba? How much is Lagos raking on toll gate before shutdown (tho they deny). Boss let's not go into so many illegality going on in Lagos state. I can only understand the tight laws because of her population, but come to think about it, Marwa laid a better template for Lagos state before Tinubu iced it with the millinium schools and hospitals. Do you remember Lagos was so notorious for criminal, before Marwa chased out touts at parks and introduce operation sweep, one of the best force, that will send fear down your spine at sight. But what did our Tinubu do on becoming the governor, he brought back touts to Lagos state. It pollute the mind to say traffic light offence is way above minimum wage, what kind of state is that? All we ask for was respiration, but all they care about is tax! tax!! Helping few people with illusion of wealth, while the majority of the populace lives in abject poverty. Tinubu built structure today with Lagos money, he can easily take billion from the state purse and squader it on other state just as Wike is doing with Rivers money. Boss support your candidate, it is within your right, but if you are doing that based on religion and ethnic ground. Then we no suppose they pity for each other for these country, we honestly deserve whatever befalls us.
Peter Obi cannot win a state. He only won in Apga based on existing structures. That aside, you see that awareness ehn it's sponsored by Atiku. I know his tactics very well. Don't feel too bad if I didn't pinpoint anything from the remaining part of the post. It's just unnecessary at this point.
Even if I tell you I'm not supporting Obi based on tribe, you might not believe but with what I have in front of me as Stat, Obi will not win 1 state in the coming election simple
pope191: You honestly don't know anything about politics, sorry to say that.
Don't be sorry. Is it your account or my account. I repeat again, if Peter Obi wins a state in the coming election as it stands (without decamping or any other crisis), I will deactivate my nairaland account
Pearl1910: Lolz...maybe u should do that analysis for your personal consumption. Cos I doubt u even know what u r saying.
That division u r talking about is caused by people voting APC because they feel it's Yoruba or fulani party Or voting PDP because it's an Igbo or Hausa party.
But if we want to go by this division u r talking about then Tinubu stands no chance because he will only be voted for in the SW. Atiku will be voted for in the North and Peter Obi will get SW and SS votes. No be so?
Before I rest my case, Tinubu cannot win if it's not rigged. Osinbajo stood a better chance than Tinubu. Listen to me careful before u misinterpret me. The same support Tinubu will enjoy, if he didn't contest, Osinbajo would have enjoyed it and more. In the sense that all party structure would have been in his favour plus ordinary people like me (teeming youths and non Yoruba people) who wouldn't have voted for APC on a normal day would have voted for Osinbajo. And they plenty for that WhatsApp group.
I have been permuting election outcomes since 2003. No be today
If Peter Obi wins a state in the coming elections. All things being equal. I will deactivate my account
Pearl1910: U r getting it all wrong. That's why we will never progress in this country. We r too divided to flourish. It's not about tribe until they want to divide us. It should be about competence. There are many Yoruba people that don't support Tinubu and there are many Igbo and SS people that would have supported Osinbajo even though he is a Yoruba man But mehnnnn...it's hard to change ideology, so if u have set your mind to support someone just because of tribe, it is well. Go ahead.
When you see an igbo person supporting Tinubu on Twitter let me know then we can have a conversation.
Felicity0001: You don't throw words of insults when having a debate or discussion that's not a good way to drive your points
Where's the insult?
I said his political knowledge is shallow. If you say my automotive knowledge is shallow because I goof, I will accept. Check the statement and see if I'm wrong. How can someone say that Osinbajo that's a godson of Tinubu that's a political Dynasty in Africa will get more votes than his godfather? I was being lenient to say his political knowledge is shallow, I could have said he's politically naive.
I didn't insult him bro and if he feels insulted, I'm really sorry.
