There Were Supposedly Six Demons That Possessed Anneliese

During the exorcism, Fathers Renz and Alt talked to no fewer than six demons possessing Anneliese. Lucifer, Judas Iscariot, Nero, Cain, Hitler, and Fleischmann, a disgraced Frankish Priest from the 16th century, all made appearances. Given Anneliese's background in school and obsession with Christian teachings, there were later theories that Anneliese chose these men intentionally.

Anneliese Underwent 67 Different Exorcism Sessions

Over a 10-month period, Fathers Renz and Alt carried out 67 one-hour exorcism sessions with Anneliese. Audio recordings from the sessions reveal their efforts as well as how Anneliese's voice was distorted, the sounds she made, and the growls and other utterances that she made in response to the religious ritual. Anneliese herself was supportive of the exorcism, but as it proceeded, she became weaker and thinner, and no medical intervention was sought.

Her Exorcism Was To Be Done In Absolute Secrecy

The priests that met with Anneliese didn't think she was epileptic and supported the idea of an exorcism. This factored into the Church's decision to allow one, although Bishop Stangl indicated it was supposed to be "small" and done under a shroud of secrecy. Fathers Arnold Renz and Ernst Alt, two priests from the local diocese, were given the task of exorcising Anneliese. Father Alt had met with the family prior to this order and had more or less told them that medical treatment was not enough to help Anneliese. She stopped taking her medication, and the family focused on religious intervention.

Her Behavior Became Erratic And, Frankly, Kind Of Gross – She Once Licked Her Own Urine Off The Floor

Anneliese's behavior became more extreme from 1973 onrward. She was said to have licked her own urine off the floor, eaten coal, ripped her clothes off, and even eaten bugs. She began to avoid religious items like crucifixes and holy water, and she displayed symptoms of what the Church considered demonic possession. Her family became desperate and asked several priests for an exorcism, but they declined and encouraged continued medical treatment. Eventually, the Church relented and granted Anneliese an exorcism to drive out any evil spirits within her.

Medicine Didn't Help Anneliese, And She Began To Think She Was Cursed

Anneliese eventually returned to school in 1970 but was withdrawn and depressed. She continued to have seizures, visit doctors, and experience frustration with her situation. She threw herself into Catholic books and practices, graduated from high school, and started college to become a teacher. Despite these efforts and continued medications, her condition worsened. By 1973, she experienced hallucinations while praying and believed she was damned. She was obsessed with the idea that the Devil was inside of her and began to see a priest as well as her doctors.

She Began To Demonstrate Symptoms Of Epilepsy And Experience Social Stigma At Age 16

While at school one day in 1968, Anneliese blacked out for a few minutes and, according to her friends, was in a trance-like state. Anneliese didn't remember the event and said that she was fine afterwards, but the same night, she woke up to a heavy feeling on her body and then wet the bed. She was kept home from school the next day, but there were no recurrences, and the family thought she was fine.

Over a year later, in August 1969, Anneliese had a similar event and was taken to a doctor to determine the cause. Her local doctor, Dr. Vogt, referred her to a neurologist, Dr. Siegmund Luthy. He did not diagnose her with anything, but shortly after visiting him, she was hospitalized for tuberculosis in February 1970. While in the hospital, she had a third event and, in addition to being depressed and lonely, was ridiculed and excluded by the other patients after wetting the bed.

Soon after this third experience, Anneliese said she saw colors, heard sounds, and experienced feelings of euphoria while saying a rosary. She was taken for more tests with another neurologist, Dr. von Haller, who diagnosed her with epilepsy and prescribed her medication.

Anneliese Grew Up In Germany With A Staunchly Catholic Mother

Born in 1952, Anneliese Michel was brought up by Bavarian parents alongside her brother and sister. Anneliese's mother had a daughter prior to Anneliese's birth, but the child, Martha, died at the age of 8. The death of Martha prompted Anneliese's mother to put a lot of pressure on the young Anneliese, particularly when it came to prayer and religious devotion. Anneliese was a good student, especially when it came to language study, and she was described as happy and playful but was under the constant watch of her parents. The family attended Mass twice a week and, according to doctors Anneliese met with later, she developed neuroses related to religious iconography as a result of punishments inflicted upon her as a young girl.

In 1975, Anneliese Michel was exhibiting some undeniably bizarre and frightening behavior, and her mother was at her wits' end. So, Mrs. Michel contacted the Catholic Church to exorcise her daughter. Anneliese had been hearing voices and exhibiting violent reactions to religious objects – hallmarks of demonic possession – and her parents were convinced she was possessed. The tale of the exorcism of Anneliese Michel was the basis for the 2005 movie The Exorcism of Emily Rose, but the real story behind her behavior and her ultimate death is much more terrifying than anything Hollywood could have imagined.

Nigeria and majority of Nigerians are not only abysmally MAD but ludicrous insensitive. This is a country where over 65% live below $1 daily, yet 7% short in oil deposits compared with Saudi Arabia. The elites ain't the problem but the wretched and disease infested poor people who feel secure in the chains and smile while suffering.
Now before you support this ask yourself, despite the God free resources, when last did I have a good breakfast, creamy lunch, rich diner and a tasty dessert to end my day as a citizen of a country rich in not only oil deposits but other precious metals.
WHAT A COUNTRY.

Ps: The background is seen to be unkempt and the atmosphere glumly, yet they feel comfortable showcasing expensive metal boxes. Men are truly the demons and not the biblical Lucifer.

I am not a Barca fan but I as a football fan I can tell you that this move is bad for football in general. It's crazy to pay such amount for a player when that money in the transfer market can get you about 4-5 good players. I hope both FIFA and UEFA sanction PSG for this as it's unfair to other clubs.

Are these dimwits telling me that the almighty God cannot be worshipped peacefully, safely and in solitary confinement in their homes? Must they come to a water logged place full of human excrements and dangerous germs to abide? I don't think the all caring God would want that.
You have a bible, yet you go to church to hear something you can read and probably already know.
Oh yes, paying of tithes and offering cos if you donate them to orphans, sick individuals and not your pastors, you won't enter heaven.

You can choose to hate freeze but most of his criticisms of Christian ways are quite correct. When I was young I was told I had a big daddy upstairs watching us and he won't let anything bad happen to us. Not until I saw malnourished children begging on the streets, saw little kids literally feeding from the gutters (this I swear), met a Somalian girl brutally raped by a man entrusted to guild her, then I realized help is coming from no where.
Before you think I am atheist please understand that I am agnostic; believing despite the years of faith with no single facts, there's something good from any religion, be it Christian, Muslim, Buddhism or Hinduism.

Finally in the words of Shawn James "I saw a man on the mountain top, calling himself the saviour of the human race, said he has come to save the world from destruction and pains but I asked how can you save this world from itself"?

and you wonder why Nigeria is not and will never progress?

this is the man that maimed and massacred hundreds of innocent shites and unarmed protesters
rendered some fatherless and orphans

yet some people are congratulating him for job well done

a country that doesn't have a problem in eliminating its citizens even when there's an alternative and the worst is that some will loud it like they're immortal

well time shall tell but what i know is that the evil doers shall never go unpunished.

Nigeria is a country occupied by modern day slaves (FACTS) who are chained mentally to worship their slave masters.

We see everyday how the poor lay on the ground to greet the politicians who illegally cultivated their farm and poured salt on the ground.

We see how youths sell their philosophy just for meager allowances from the same people who made slaves.

Nigeria and Nigerians deserve freedom both physically and mentally but truth is the youths are comfortable in their suffering, happy with their low quality of lives, prefer to be divided and tribal, and just not worth saving.

This is how things should be. "Just because a dog got hump doesn't mean you will attempt to ride it like a camel". Ayiri and his fellow ND pirates/militants should be in jail or SSS most wanted list but Nigeria is a country whose normality is upside down.

Yes majority are hungry but that doesn't mean you will poop in a plate and serve it to them as gourmet dish.

Cane sugar comes from sugarcane. Sugarcane is the crop, cane sugar is the refined grains of sugar.

You also get other things from sugarcane, such as falernum, molasses, rum, cachaça, bagasse and ethanol

So sugar cane is a kind of cane. (It’s a cane from which sugar is produced.) Cane sugar is a kind of sugar. (It’s sugar that’s produced from cane.)

Good one

English is confusing itself...

Mile 12 or 21 it's brisket bone. Biscuits don't have bone cos it's made from dough. Same with cane-sugar not sugarcane. Sugar doesn't have cane but cane has sugar.

Fines for 'Fornication' Increased

Richard M. Smith writes in Land, Kinship and Life-Cycle that the severity of fines for fornication in England increased, even as the severity of other legal fines generally decreased, in the middle of the Black Death period (1349). Smith says "it is difficult not to interpret" the high fines during this period as "punitive." The courts, essentially, decided to ramp up the punishment for sexual immorality in response to the Black Death. Blame the fornicators, basically. Smith does note, however, that attitudes about unseemly acts such as fornication, and thus the inclination to increase the fines for such acts, may have been changing even before the tragedy of the plague struck.

Incidents of Incest Increased

In Domestic Violence in Medieval Texts, Eve Salisbury, Georgiana Donavin, and Merrall Llewelyn Price write that incest in England actually increased during the Black Plague. Why? Simple arithmetic. The plague "destroyed between one-third and one-half" of the population, making exogamy (marrying only outside the clan or community) "improbable." The problem, Donavin says, wasn't keeping cousins from marrying, but instead the opposite: "finding living cousins with whom one might preserve the patrimony"! A lot of noble families died off during the plague years, meaning "intrafamilial marriages greatly increased."

'Pseudo-Flagellants' Performed Unusual Sex Acts in Public

So-called "flagellants" during the Black Death were, according to Professor Mark Damen of Utah State University, "professional self-torturers" who went around whipping themselves for a fee "to bring God's favor upon a community hoping to avert the bubonic plague." They were literal "whipping boys" that people used to buy "remission from sin." The Church, of course, outlawed this behavior, to little effect. But there was another group of lesser-known "pseudo-flagellants" that went from town to town performing "unusual sexual acts in public" for a fee. The Church outlawed them, as well, but Damen says that did little to "hinder their progress."

There Was a 'Vital Urban Subculture' of Homosexuality

According to the Encyclopedia of Homosexuality, Volume 2, a "vital urban subculture" of homosexuals existed during the Black Death. It wasn't until the Renaissance that "more detailed records of the life and attitudes of homosexual men and women" emerged, but this vital subculture "certainly" was alive, though "one catches only fleeting glimpses of it in the literature." A few decades prior to the Black Death, King Edward II of England was murdered, quite possibly for being gay, which certainly didn't help the cause. (Mel Gibson's Braveheart received a lot of criticism for its negative portrayal of Edward.) The belief that "sexual immorality" such as "sodomy" helped cause the Black Death surely was another factor in keeping the subculture hidden during the period.

Sexual Immorality Was Thought to Have Helped Cause the Plague

In Daily Life During the Black Death, Joseph Patrick Byrne writes that many lawmakers at the time adopted the "Christian belief that sin angered God, who expressed his divine wrath through plague" and secularized it, via legislation. Many older "moral laws" essentially became just plains laws. This meant sexual immorality was heavily legislated. This "sanitary" legislation targeted sodomy and prostitution especially. In Florence, for example, prostitutes were "kicked out" of the city in the waning years of the Black Death. When the industry reemerged in the decades that followed, they were still forbidden to work on the streets (brothels, however, were a-okay).

Prostitution Was Institutionalized

As the death toll of the plague increased, so did the working conditions of working girls, according to Jeffrey Richards in Sex, Dissidence and Damnation: Minority Groups in the Middle Ages. They began to enjoy a so-called "seller's market" due to an "all-round labor shortage," leading to "a general improvement of their conditions." Leah Lydia Otis writes in Prostitution in Medieval Society that as the Black Death waned, there was a "quantum leap" in the "institutionalization of prostitution." Municipally-owned brothels were built, complete with "royal safeguards." Otis does note, however, that the demand for prostitutes began to wane at that time, as well.
