Not one of you have told stories of the people who you know went there and failed.
Please don't end up misleading people by mistake.

To apply wisdom in every decision in life. I am a doctor and when i left Nigeria i went to first one country and then another that were known for the relative ease of assimilation of doctors into the system. I applied wisdom and left the country with a plan. I didn't allow a 17yr old living abroad to tell me to stay back and help Nigeria.

When people say japa they are not saying that you should wake up tomorrow and start looking for one perilous route to Afghanistan. You assess your education, work experience/skills, support system and plan both the timing and destination accordingly. A smart guy is already asking ib.ime questions about how to get into the UK.

What they are saying is that to improve your chances of having a good quality of life it might be a good idea to start planning your exit from Nigeria. For instance, rather than changing that your 2010 Camry to a newer model why not use that money to execute your Japa moves. Or minimize your spending in other ways for a year or two, see what you can save up.

The message is not for everybody. If you are educated, hard working, ambitious, amenable to a law-abiding lifestyle you can listen. If you are none of those things you can skip to the next message.

Good points, nobody is against people emigrating, I've said it a million times, but going back a few pages, you see lots of comments emphasizing to LEAVE AT ALL COSTS

Those who will be influenced by such hyperboles are the ones I'm addressing. Someone said even if it's by road or the Libyan way, all way na way. That doesn't sound like someone who wants to sit down and plan better. Those are the targets of this message.

I say again, most of you are highlighting the positives, none of you are warning about potential dangers too. Dangers that make promising girls fall into hands of human traffickers. Or emigrants who were somehow failed by those systems there.

You are sharing anecdotes of successful people you know. Are you saying you don't know any anecdotes of people who fell hard after they tried.
Haven't you heard of people deported, people who spent all their live savings there and fell flat on their face?

I maintain that you must have the money and the right support structure before you go there.

As I said earlier, success is loud, failure is silent.

Many at times, we hear of people that won millions via betting but what you rarely hear is how much that particular person has lost before. The person won't tell you that the money he won hasn't even covered the one's he lost.

For every successful person here who emigrated, there is an equal number of those who emigrated and failed. But you won't see such story's here. Because everyone wants to always paint a picture of success online.

I've not heard Ibime, afrodoc or dayo talk about any single challenge they might have encountered along the way, challenges which they might have successfully scaled through but which can sink others.

So please my brothers. You must be open-eyed. You must make a completely well researched decision before making that leap. Thank you.

I would still vote, but it depends on the ruggedness of my polling station, and whether "boys" will be there. If you are in the City you should be fine. Election is rigged in the rural areas. You can't vote APC in my hometown for example

It seems to me that this federal government is now trying to systematically disenfranchise Nigerians. Many people who I had convinced to go and register for their PVC are frustrated with what is going on at their offices. They know that the vast majority of new people seeking PVC registration are for Peter Obi and they're trying to stampede that effort.

Japa no be fight, already 99% of the population is beyond japa such as the almajiris, rural community, over 35s, children etc. It's more for young men and women with skills that are coveted in Obodo Oyinbo, or those with intellectual capacity to develop those skills through post graduate studies.

You still have many people in Naija making it big, but it's a much much smaller subset of the population. It's just a game of chance and probability. And if you put yourself in a subset with higher probability, chances are it will favour you.

The cost-benefit analysis of earning say N1m pcm in Nigeria really doesn't cut it compared to a like-for-like comparison with a professional abroad regardless of purchasing power. In a like for like comparison, the guy abroad will still save N1.5m to N2m per month, see other increase in property equities, pensions, still move back to Naija and be in an immeasurably better position than the guy who stayed. That does not factor exigencies like healthcare, education, security, and ability of children to operate within the society. Most guys who earn that amount all their career will still give up every single spare cash they saved throughout their career to send their children abroad for University. That says it all.

Good. Now what do you say to those who explicitly state, "don't bother getting your PVC". "Do not waste your time voting". "Lose all hope in Nigeria".
