A RECAP OF MY POSITION.

Japa is a good and sensible advice. Telling people not to get their PVC or not to vote is a terrible advice. Telling people to lose hope in their country is another distasteful advice I think all argument emanated from this misunderstanding.

seankafor:
so when you fathom these points of you making it over there, did you also navigate or put into consideration of millions making it here too?

Or were you only fixated on the positives of japa and negatives of anti japa?

How about negatives of japa and positives of anti japa?
You went ballistic on the guy because he is underage? Na em fault say him papa get money?
Even at that, he yets brings down his humility and puts his mind in the shoes of people who doesn't have the privilege to japa like him, telling them you can make it anywhere.. not like age has to do with anything in life thoor..

How about our comrade here who was shot in south Africa? Didn't he japa as you guys preached?

You j gang are only fixated on the positives of japa while screaming down to us anti j gang the negatives of not japa..
While I in the other hand say.. fixate or have a mindset reconfiguration, the positives of anti japa and negatives of japa..
Then you will come to a balance on the correlation of the 2
I am not anti-japa but I have stated how many people here are highlighting the negatives of this country and at this same time downplaying the positives. And vice versa for the japa crew, highlighting the positives of those foreign countries and downplaying the negatives. My aunt was deported in the 90s due to wrong documentation or something like that. Today she's an associate professor in unizik and is doing fantastically well.

Some lecturers in universities make up to 400k a month. That's a life or luxury in Nigeria.
Look at that civil servant guy that was here yesterday. He's as average as can be but I bet you he's living better than millions of people abroad. If his stories are true, he has good shelter, he has poultry, he's paying his children fees, he's training other people. That's what you can ask of life and there are millions of people like him in Nigeria.
I have said that everything that happens here, also happens there, it's about how relative it is.

There are poor people in UK, there is organized crime in UK, there are daily school shootings in America.

This whole thing just reminds me of when I was betting in my university days. Everytime I won big, I would announce to everybody and show them how I won big from betting. Then I would go on to lose everything I won within the next few weeks and I would be pained in silent. cheesy Meanwhile people around me would become motivated to bet, thinking betting pays.

There are a lot of people like my aunt, who got there, failed for one reason or the other and may not have the mouth to speak of their failure. A reason scammers thrive for example is that most times, the victims are unable to speak out.

Is there any core northerner in the house?
Is this post true?
Arrewa:
Dear seun osewa!!
The north is not all about Islam!! That's where Many of u southerners are getting it wrong in first place!!

The north is not all about HausaFulani!!
We are united not just because of religious... average Fulani Christian,Hausa Christian and other northern Christian feel more carried along in the north than in the south!!
We have large number of Christians in Borno, yobe,Gombe, kebbi, and other northern States. Northern Christians speak Hausa, dress in kaftans, eat northern food, we share same culture and values!!

The only difference is that they are Christans who go to Church! Most of them even answer indigenous northern names!
Kanuri see a Hausa man as his brother...
Hausas sees Fulanis as Brothers...

Zuru see see a Bura as a brother, kanakuris see Nupe sas brother!! And so on and on!

A bura from Borno can be a governor in Kano (In the case of shekarau)
Fulani, Hausa, kanuri, nupe, bura, zuru can rule in any part of the north as long as he has the public appeal by playing his politics right!!

That cannot be said in that south even thou u are predominantly Christans!!

Tribalism is killing the south!!

Just because majority of bokoharam are kanuris we don't go about killing kanuris because of bokoharam attack in Kano!
Because majority of bandit are fulanis other northern tribes don't go about killing innocent Fulanis around them!! Calling it "reprisal"

An average northerner is not a tribalistic bigot!!
Come to Kano and see how northern tribes are living together in harmony!!
Only southerners especially the igbos isolate themselves in Sabo Gari!!
That's why we are politically united!!

We tried uniting with the south but we were subjected to inhuman act and betrayal!!

Our leaders were killed in the process!! We lost sardauna, Abubakar Tafawabelewa and Many of our leaders!
Even if we try to forgive and unite, The south will always have a reason to smear and subject the north to all sort physical and verbal attacks!!
Dear seun... The south gave the north the strength and the unity it has today!!

Not just religion as u projected!!

TheDarkGamer:
Life can be so funny sometimes.

A lot of people have been talking about leaving the country and advising that people should try their best to ensure that that dream is achieved. They discourage people from voting or getting PVCs to vote and have a sliver of hope in a hopeless nation.

To 'japa' from the country is not a feasible option for every individual in Nigeria. You say that they should have the drive and motivation to work hard for their goals and bring stories that show how people left the country. Nobody says that it is a bad advice. But it becomes very stupid when you advice every citizen of a country to immigrate to other countries. Not only is that not feasible even in your wildest dreams, but try to imagine it.
This guy's post has 19 likes already. This post has proved popular because it captures the essence of a simple message. "Not everyone will emigrate and those that are here have to do whatever they can to make their country better". It's really a simple message said in so many words.

The message now becomes, how do we as individuals become a collective group and make our country better.

The first one is speaking the truth. Not being afraid to call out evil even if you will be termed a hypocrite or a saboteur which is why I got angry with that onyema guy.
Then, voting in good leaders, we have to vote, if we don't vote , we are surrendering that right to other people who may likely vote for the wrong reasons or reasons counter to ours and we end up getting terrible people.
Another thing we should do is learn to protest. It's a fundamental right, we could do it digitally but it has to be backed up in a way. Protest is essential but we haven't taken this right seriously yet.

Our country is bad, but it is not the worst. Think of what Russians are going through right now or Indians. Indians and Pakistanis have been at tense situations for decades now. Almost always at the brink of nuclear war between both of them. They've also had religious terrorism and war acts present in their country over the decades. We don't just hear of it here.
Many countries are worse than our own but the fact is that we Nigerians have our destiny in our own hands. We just need to unite and set our common goals and that is very feasible.

Advices should be balanced and should come from a good place.

You can't tell someone to try and get rich and tell the person to do ritual to become rich. You've dented your message.
To get rich is a fine message which the person already knows, to do ritual is a bad message.

Telling people to japa is a generally good advice.
Telling people not to participate in elections to select their leader is a terrible advice. Telling people to lose all hope in their country is another terrible advice. That bad advice does not take into account the fact that theoretically only 10% of the population can succeed in emigrating from the country.

What happens to the 90%? The aged, the handicapped etc You don't care? They are meaningless? They too don't have any purpose in life?
Telling people to lose hope in their country means you have decided to overlook the good things in the country and focus on or highlight only the bad and in the same vein, you are focusing on only the good things of the foreign country and glossing over the bad aspects of that country.

Again, every advice should be balanced. They should come from a good place in your heart. The japa activists are giving good advice but for some it seems to be coming from a bad place.

Bros, I don't think you know how fvxked up Nigeria is at the moment. This country is a ticking time bomb .You can assess this country by mere looking at the faces of people on the streets. Most people are so frustrated and dejected..

I have my PVC but heaven knows I am not stepping out of my house on that day...I don't wanna be used for target practices by some gun welding political thugs..
Na person wey never see problem dey use English dey pray.
Bro, I'm really surprised this japa argument took soo many pages. I don't think anyone is against anybody immigrating. Immigration is good, but that is for the individual.

This guy's post is for the collective. He's speaking against those like donstan who now argues against people getting their PVCs.
People advising other people to japa is synonymous to telling everyone, be rich oo!! In this life, make sure you have money oo! Money is good oo! I mean the advice is solid. It's already something everyone knows but at the end of the day, the reality is that, it's impossible for every single individual to be wealthy. To be wealthy, you need access to capital, favourable economic season and climate, good individual frugality and discipline etc. In short, there is no part of the world where everyone is rich! In those foreign countries people are going to, there is also existence of abject poverty and crime. To succeed there as an immigrant will require 2 things, money and an extraordinarily strong will. Not everyone has those.

So to tell people to japa AND at the same time tell them not to vote and attempt to better their country is a double edged sword. It's a conundrum. It's like giving someone cake with feaces inside.

Japa is a good and sensible advice. Telling people not to get their PVC or to not vote is a terrible advice. Telling people to lose hope in their country is another distasteful advice. I think all argument emanated from this misunderstanding.

I think he is trying to highlight benefits that can be enjoyed within the chaos

not paying taxes or light isn’t an inherent crime

if government want to fix the light problem, getting everyone to pay their fair share isn’t the first step, they should fix generation and distribution, naturally illegal practices will g away, with Nigerian gas reserves, if things are properly done, power can be cheap enough that people wouldn’t even see the need to game the system

And don’t get me started on that circus called taxation, people like to hype it but it’s just a way for the political class to dictate how much money people can hold
You sef, are you for immigration or not?
As for me, I think it's a very very simple thing.
You can leave the country for a better life if you are in a position to and ALSO hope that the country gets better so that your kin and your children will not have the desire to run away from their fathers land.
It's a 2 way street. Leave if you can, but importantly be well informed of where you're leaving to and challenges to expect and also do whatever you can to make your country better.

This is why I was petitioning those abroad like Ibime, airmark, afrodoc, chic2pimp, raumdeuter, nateevs etc to try and vote. They might be there but they should still do their bit to change the country for the better.

We pay very low taxes in Nigeria. In America my poultry farm would most likely be taxed. My wife's salary is not taxed at all. Mine is deducted from the ministry but my tax is just 15k monthly. But federal government pays emoluments and allowances.

I also don't go to work everyday. The same thing with many of my colleagues. We have a system that covers for each other. I go to work only 3 times in a week.
You can't have such laxity abroad. You will work through your nose.

Lastly let me tell you the icing on the cake, I haven't paid nepa bill in 3 years. Around us we have people that rig the meter, so it doesn't read. When the nepa people come much later, we settle the staff and he goes. This cannot happen in abroad.
This right here! Killed whatever message you were trying to pass. I was trying to make sense of your point until this right here.

I don't even understand your message still, are you criticizing those that want to leave the country or what exactly?

I am being realistic. I don't want to go via students visa and obtaining it via work visa is proving quite difficult. That I want to leave the country does not mean I have given up hope on Nigeria. One can want two things at the same time, they're not mutually exclusive.
I want the system in Nigeria to change. I'm passionate about that. I support Peter Obi because i believe he is the best of the rest. All of us are drawn to support the underdog. All peter obi supporters know they are the underdogs, that's why they are going the extra mile to see us win.

If we lose, we know we gave it our best shot but I can tell you, the momentum is certainly with us. No slowing down.

The people that did these are no longer human beings. This is why I support the capital punishment.
I don't like when liberals call for the abolishment of the death penalty. We must acknowledge that some Human beings no longer possess Characteristics of being human. They are now wild animals that need to be put down.

Some things are permanently here to stay.

Insecurity
Corruption
Tribalism
Poverty
Crime

These things are going nowhere, absolutely nowhere.

Just two solutions below...

1. JAPA
2. Eliminate anyone who tried to advise you otherwise.
Number 2 is very important.
Every single thing you highlighted is present in every single country.

It's all about the degree and variations to which they occur and the systems put in place to counter these things.

That's why we're seeking for a new leadership.

The system in place is designed to favor the a particular group. We need to change that and that begins with changing the status quo.

How can you not see this?

It's easy for a drunkard like you to just lay on your bed shouting JAPA JAPA when you don't even have the means to do it.

Do you know what it takes to establish a comfortable life abroad?? I know it's not easy, I have been working towards it and failing for 2 years now.
You need at least 20 million naira to live comfortably abroad due of our very weak currency and low purchasing power.

20 million naira is just 40,000 pounds. That's nothing in UK, that won't last you 1 complete year. Simple things like football jersey is 200 pounds. They can afford these things easily. You that is converting from your local currency will shed tears.

Let's talk the huge cultural shift, we've seen how extremely homophobic you are here.

Are you ready to work under a transgender boss like Ibime said he once did?? Would you be comfortable walking on the road and seeing 2 men kiss everywhere you went??

I don't mind personally, but for someone as foolish and hateful as yourself, these are small examples of the cultural shift which can be disconcerting.

Talking about PVC. Boy, do you actually think things thoroughly?? Both of us know that a street urchin like you has no future abroad, you, personally will be here in the next 4 years and you would still be complaining foolishly about the terrible leaders of Nigeria, instead of you to join hands with your fellow citizens and vote in the right people, you would rather keep shouting ABROAD ABROAD!
