The Court of Appeal has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to allow Atiku Abubakar and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have access to all certified copies of the materials used in conducting the 2019 presidential election. This, according to the court, is in pursuant to section 151(1 &2) of the Electoral Act as amended in 2010 which states that: (1) An order for an inspection of a polling document or an inspection documents of a document or any other packet in the custody of the Chief National Electoral Commissioner or any other officer of the Commission may be made by the election tribunal or the court if it is satisfied that the inspection is required for the purpose of instituting, maintaining or defending an election petition. (2) A document other than a document referred to in subsection (I) of this section relating to an election and which is retained by the Chief National Electoral Commissioner or any other officer of the Commission in accordance with this section shall be open for inspection on an order made by the Election Tribunal or a Court in exercise of its powers to compel the production of documents in legal proceedings, but shall not otherwise be open for inspection. The three-member panel led Abdul Aboki also ordered INEC to make available to Mr Abubakar and the PDP all documents and electoral materials used for the election for the purpose of the inspection. Delivering a unanimous ruling on the exparte motion filed by Mr Abubakar and the PDP, Mr Aboki, however, refused the applicants’ prayers for scanning and forensic analysis of the election materials. The court also refused to direct INEC to make available all polling documents for forensic analysis as requested by the applicants. The court, in addition, refused to order the electoral body to permit forensic experts of the applicants to examine form EC48 and other relevant forms used for the election. Mr Aboki noted that the applicant’s lawyer, Chris Uche, had rightly based his argument on a previous decision of Election Petition Tribunal, but been overruled by “this court because it confers unfair advantage to the applicant The appeal court serves as the election petition tribunal for the presidential election. Mr Abubakar and the PDP are challenging President Muhammadu Buhari’s victory in the February 23 presidential election. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/317933-breaking-atiku-secures-first-victory-at-appeal-court-as-judges-order-inec-to-release-election-materials.htm

Bello Bodejo, national president of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore Socio-cultural Association, says even their cows are happy President Muhammadu Buhari won his reelection bid. In an interview with The Sun, Bodejo said Buhari’s victory brought calm across the country. He also urged the president to focus on the welfare of the Fulani in his second term. “It is now that the real change will come. I believe that Baba will bring a lot of change to Nigeria. Even the cows in the bush are now happy and will know that very soon, change will reach them,” he said. “[On Wednesday], when I wanted to harvest milk from my cow, I noticed that it was double what I used to get. Through that, I know that something good is coming to the country. So, even the cows are happy and feeling that change has come. “Before now, after every election, you used to have all manner of crises but since Buhari won, you can see that everywhere is calm. Everybody is very happy; some are dancing and killing animals to do sacrifice. We, the Fulani are praying for him and that he should remember us. The Fulani are really suffering; they are killing the Fulani everywhere but we cannot leave President Buhari. We believe in him. He is our son, father and grandfather. “I urge him to remove all the people around him who are enemies of his administration. During the campaigns, many people, including Atiku, were trying to poison the minds of the Fulani that Buhari did not do anything for us. We understood that Buhari entered government at a time that everything had spoilt in the country. I believe that Buhari is going to do a lot now. So many people tried to use money to buy us but we believe in Buhari. We are praying that Buhari will listen to the leadership of the Fulani.” On the forthcoming governorship election slated for next Saturday, he wished governors trying to create anti-grazing laws loss at the polls, adding that those who were against the Fulani are enemies of the country. https://www.thecable.ng/extra-even-our-cows-are-happy-buhari-won-says-miyetti-allah-president/amp

The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led by Cyril Abeye Ogodo has expelled Ovie Omo-Agege, the senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly and factional senatorial candidate in the 2019 general election. Rising from an emergency meeting of the State Working Committee (SWC ) in Asaba on Wednesday, the party said its decision to expel Omo Agege from the party followed his “unabated involvement in anti-party activities”. A statement titled ‘Delta APC Expels Senator Ovie Omo-Agege’, signed by the party’s Legal Adviser, Dennis Nwanokwai Esq, and obtained by SaharaReporters, noted that the senator’s expulsion is with immediate effect. "The latest of such activities relates to the hijack of primaries panel members and materials sent from the national secretariat to conduct primaries in the state and deploying same to conduct unauthorised parallel primaries,” the party stated. "[Others are] the manipulation and tampering of delegates’ lists and the use of thugs to harass and deprive authentic delegates from access to primaries venues, all that in conjunction with Prophet Jones Erue and others who have earlier been expelled from our party. "The expulsion of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege is with immediate effect. The SWC also resolved to petition the security services, including the Police and DSS to arrest and prosecute Senator Omo-Agege, Prophet Jones Erue and others for impersonation and others actions calculated to breach public peace.” It was however learned that the Ogboru/Omo-Agege faction of the APC led by Jones Erue had also slammed the state leader of the party and the 2015 Delta State governorship candidate of the party, and the party's senatorial candidate in the 2019 general elections, O'tega Emerhor, with expulsion over same offence for which Omo-Agege was thrown out of the party.
