STATEMENT BY SENATE PRESIDENT INTIMATING SENATORS OF PLOT AGAINST HIM BY IGP
1. My Distinguished colleagues, there is an issue which I need to bring to your attention very urgently.
2. Last night, my State Governor, Dr. Abdulfatai Ahmed revealed to me an information at his disposal that a group of suspects who had been in police cells for several weeks for cultism and whose investigation had been concluded with prosecution about to commence under the State law based on the advice of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) and the Ministry of Justice were ordered to be transferred to Abuja this morning.
3. According to the information available to the Governor, the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Idris Ibrahim directed the Commissioner of Police in Kwara State to immediately transfer the men to the Force Headquarters. The plan, as the Governor was made to understand is that, under duress, the suspects would be made to alter the statements they already made in Ilorin. They will then be made to implicate the Kwara State Government, and in particular, myself, in their new statement.
4. This plot is part of the strategy by the IGP Idris to settle scores over the declaration by this honourable Chamber that he is not qualified and competent to hold any public office, within and outside the country and that he is an enemy of Nigerian democracy based on his usual disrespectful conduct towards lawful authorities.
5. In my own view, this plot is an act of desperation, blackmail, intimidation, abuse of office and crude tactics aimed at turning our country into a Police State where top officials cannot be made to obey the law, follow due process and subject themselves to constituted authorities.
6. I want to bring this dangerous development to the attention of all of you my colleagues, the entire country and the international community so that you can be aware of the level of impunity in our country and the danger it constitute to our democracy.

ON T. Y DANJUMA'S SPEECH I've watched T.Y Danjuma's clip of 44 seconds, over and over again. In it, he asks and urges citizens to rise and defend themselves, their states and country. Except if there's another clip which I don't know about, I with all honesty and clear conscience see nothing wrong with what he says. He simple asks people to be alert and defend themselves. He never asks anyone to wage or or attack anybody. Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II of Kano once asked Nigerians to defend themselves against Boko Haram. Except if you don't think that the herdsmen or anyone masquerading in their costumes are right to is right to kill defenseless Nigerians, there's nothing wrong with what Danjuma says. These people have nowhere else to go. Should they stay there and die without a fight? I'm not referring to a particular tribe. "Every person has a right to life." Except if you're deeply eaten by tribal or ethnic maggots that you can't see it. Danjuma's advice is blanket. It applies to everyone. The Police Command in Nasarawa State says it has deployed over 4,000 officers and men to ensure a hitch-free visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to the state on Tuesday, Feb. 6.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr Bello Ahmed, told newsmen on Monday in Lafia that the command had put up a robust security arrangement with sister agencies to ensure a successful visit of the President to the state.

He said about 3,000 officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and other security agencies would be working in synergy with the police.

Ahmed said that security personnel would be positioned in strategic locations, adding that there would be road diversions along the route where the President would inaugurate some projects.

“I appeal to members of the public to be law abiding as they come out massively to welcome the president to the state.

“I also urge you to cooperate with the security agencies as they discharge their duties,’’ Ahmed said.

President Buhari is during the visit expected to inaugurate some projects embarked upon by the State Government which include; the Comprehensive Special School for the Physically Challenged in Lafia and headquarters of the State Fire Service, also in Lafia.

Other projects billed for inauguration are: Comprehensive Primary Healthcare Centre in Kwandere near Lafia, Muhammadu Buhari International Market, Karu, and the flag-off of construction of cargo airport in Lafi.
