wow! Thank God. I was issued my visa after 10 working days. I thank justwise and everyone that asked and answered questions on this forum. You guys are really doing a nice job. For someone like me, though, I didn't ask questions, but I read through all the questions asked and answers given. This forum doesn't only provide answers to questions, but also serve as a source of encouragement. You get to know when u're likely going to get a decision, based on comments of those that applied at the same time with you. Once again, I thank justwise, and everyone that contributed on this thread. For those of you still expecting u're Visa, I wish you all good luck and God bless us all. Amen. See ya all in Uk. |
Adasek2008: Pls nairalanders, I need ur help. Was asked if English is my countries first language and if not, what is it? Am a Yoruba man. Thank you all.Nigeria is not regarded as an English Speaking Nation. So u're dam right, Yoruba is u're Language. |
_babyshaQ: not for tier 4 visas. No harm asking thoughbabyshaQ u Mean I can make my online application even though the 28 days has not reach, and also book 4 an appointment at a Later date, and it will not affect my visa application process? Won't the embassy guys looked at the date I made d application online, with regards to d bank statement of Acc if it had clocked d 28 working Days? Thanks. |
Be+2012:Thanks 4 u're Response Be+2012. God will help us. |
Hello House Mate, Do anyone know if Visa application/processing could be fast track, inorder to reduce the waiting time period. Assuming one has gotten all the document required for the application? Is there anything that one could do to fast tract the process? Please I need u people's input, as I really need to do all I can to ensure that the waiting time period is reduced to the barest minimum. Thank you for your contribution in advance. |
Chylo, tnx for taking your time to give us dt info. And brings me to another important question.. I have actually been considering applying and booking an appointment now even when my money hasn't stayed up tp 28days in my acct..I read on d ukba website that d date of ur application is considered to be d date u paid ur visa fee,and also ur money must stay 28days b4 u apply.. So the question is: can one fill in d forms online and book appointment without paying, and then pay at d VAC office on the day of interview?? Am aware ders online payment option which will make ds sort of plan impossible but what of cash payment at vac on interview date? Pls enlighten us a bit abt how d your payment process was like. Miz-Gene, u actually ask the same question I had in mind with regards to chylo comment. Please house, we need more enlightenment with regards to the above comment thanks. |
Hello House members, no one has dropped comment in the house. Are house members on strike? Come on in and share the progress of u're admission processes and experiences, so that someone could learn from it. Thank You. |

abbakacici: Please I want to know if is possible if some one on ptdf scholarship can change his courseIt's not possible for u to change u're course after u've gotten u're scholarship. If u try it, then u will loose u're scholarship, as d scholarship is attached to a specific course. |
awistle: CAS is simply confirmation of acceptance to study, I think is something dat helps u in the application for student visa.Yea, awistle is right, without CAS, u woun't be granted a visa. |
Hello House, Is there any one in the House that have applied for UK student visa, or is in the process of doing that? Please kindly share your experiences and advise with your contemporaries. What are the documents needed, any other tips and advise thanks. |
miz Gene: I got my cas some days back....It specifically tells the ukba that my English has been assessed by the University and that I need not present any further tests as proof...Well Congrats Gene. U're school is not bent on providing an english language proficiency test like some other uk schools are.If they were, or they were not specific by telling the ukba, that u're good to go. It would have posed a problem for u at the embassy. Congrats once again. |
petreli12: Hey Boss, you were so close...I have gotten my ielts result, I scored 8.0/9.0 overall. I will advise you to consider IELTS, firstly, the speaking test is done on a diff day, while reading, listening and writing on the same day. Personally, I prefer Ielts to Toefl anydayCongrats my guy. nice score. u almost gave them an assignment. I'll be giving IELT a second though cos I don't understand these TOEFL people. They seems to be bias in the acceptance of TOEFL and IELT in UK and US respectively. TOEFL score of 75 is accepted in some pretigious US schools but not in UK. IELT of 5.5 is accepted in some pretigious UK schools but not in US. These two English test providers seems to be competing. How Many days between the speaking and the rest part of IELT test. As it is now, time is of essence. |
Please advice. I wrote TOEFL, I scored 92, I made more than the required scored needed for the reading, listening and talking section, unfotunately, I missed the writing requirement by 2 point. I had also exceeded the total minumun requirement. The short fall in writing section has made a mess of the whole result and as such I need to re-write an English test. Am a bit confused at the moment if I should enrol for d same TOEFL test again, or switch to IELT test. Please advice as I need to get this done in two weeks. Thanks. |
petreli12: Hey boss..my test went well...the results will be out by Wednesday. You can take any of the exams, with adequate preparation you can score well in both exams..I wil advise you take the cheaper one tho..I dunno how much toefl cost. Ielts is N35000.Thanks Man. petreli12: I really want to advise you guys to take either IELTS or TOEFL. I took ielts last thursday @ IB and so many other peeps were there. The UKBA is getting stiffer with its entry laws, especially with all these terror attacks, etc. U guys shld try to take d tests. Ielts is N35,000.How was u're IELT Test Petrelis. Between IELT & TOEFL, which of them do u think in u're opinion is easier. With that I mean, the possibility of scoring 6.5 across board and above for IELT & and 95 and above in TOEFL. |

One will need to write either IELT OR TOEFL, in order to avoid disappointment at the embassy, as these UKBA are getting more strict by d day. I saw on an article, that even if one's school doesn't Request for TOEFL/IELT and they AV actually grant someone unconditional admission, That they Ukba will still request for proficiency of English test. So friends, make arrangement for that, to avoid problem. Best of Luck. |
awistle: yea hopefully going to Salford, just paid the deposit.Congrats Man. All d best. |
miz Gene: Yes o,no time for toefl ish..no spare cash to throw around.. But abeg o,any1 who has applied without any test of English lang shd holla at us let's knw wats up.Miz, this TOEFL Wahala, is not funny at all. But u should double check to be sure, that u can scale through without TOEFL at British Embassy, if not, I'll just advice u make plans for TOEFL just in case it's needed, so that u won't to start running around at d last minute. I know some UK school don't request for English Test, But I don't know about those embassy Guys. |
Nawa o, it seems ppl aint travelling dis year or are dey doing it lowkey, anyway who here is going to the Uni of Salford.[/quote Sup awistle! Uni Salford was one of d schools I got admission with. Still contemplating on which school to settle with. Are u heading 2 Salford? |
petreli12: Thanks man..IELTS seems more appealing to me than Toefl. It boils down to my preference since both exams are of equal standing any where in the world. Just pray d̶̲̥̅̊aτ̲̅ my scholarship application is granted. Are you based in 9ja or UK? I wouldn't mind if u tell me more.Alright. We all pray for the best. I wish u d best though. Am based in Niaja. |
emahnwel: Hello Donsly1, I first must commend you on such an informative thread. However, I'd like you to assist me in ways to secure a post-graduate Masters degree admission (in Wireless/communication/electronics engineering related course) in a UK or EU university (preferrably the non-competitive varsities), as i am very naive in it. I studied electrical/ electronic engr, with a CGPA in percentage of 79. I'm currently a 2012 batch B corper. I dearly look forward to a favourably response. My email if needed will be provided. Thanks. Yours sincerely. Thanks for u're compliment emahnwel, I appreciate. With regards to u're postgraduate issue, u'll first of all need to decide on which of the country u which to study in, then wich of the schools further more also crosscheck their admission requirement, tuition and cost of living. It is only when u've sorted all this out, that u can then proceed to apply for the admission. As long as you meet all the admission requirement, the rest becomes easy and straight-forward. I wish u all the best. |
petreli12: Hey, got admitted for Msc applied microbiology and biotechnology. Am taking the ielts exam next month. I hope to send my application next month too. How did dat person wiin the scholarship? How many Nigerians usually benefit?COngrats on u're admission. am just curious, wat made u settle for IELT over TOEFL. just want to know. u're the first person av seen talk about IELT, I'll like to know how it all went. I wish u all the best in your scholarship endeavors. Best of Luck Man |
StateOfMind: I got an offer for MSc Biomedical Sciences. I'll be writing my toefl exams on the 27th of this month. The person went through just this same process and he got shortlisted. He's a first class student also. I really can't place a figure on the number of nigerians that get this scholarship but I do know its usually very competitive. Much focus should be on the personal statement which is giving me headache, I think it really gives one an edge.Congrats on u're admission offer. How was u're TOEFL exam? wat score are u hoping for? just as u rightly pointed out, there are lot of Nigerians applying for the same scholarship so the competition is really high. So to stand out from the crowd, u need to present a nice personal statement. This is what might just give some people an edge over others that are equally qualify too. Am waiting to get some more good news from you. I wish U all the best Man. |
letsurvey: I am a graduate of phy presently serving in delta state. I want to do my masters but I don't know how to go about it. I would love τ̲̅ȍ travel out for it, if I can afford it but does anyone knows about masters in UI. Pls if anyone do put me thruauthor, the first thing for u to do is to find out if UI offers Master's programm on the course u're interested in. If u visit UI's website, u may be able to get more information about the programme u're interested in, and also their entry requirement. If u're lucky too, u could meet a fellow Ajuwaya who studied at UI, u could get first hand info too. But I will suggest, that u visit the school site. |
petreli12: hey peeps...pls do Nigerians win scholarships for UK uni? I nid help as I am about to apply. ThanksYea petrelis, U could get scholarship to study in UK Universities. Some of the Scholarships are sponsored by common wealth and other organizations, some by the school itself. Scholarship applicable to your school will most likely be advertised on the school website and respective deparment of the school. |
petreli12: Anyone heading for Westminster, London? Just got my admission for Masters.petrli12 How far have u gone with u're admission process? Which stage are u now? |
Jnr. Prof! Do u recruit only for Swansea University? Do U not AV link with other UK Uni? |
Donsly1: This is a thread for all Nigerian prospective graduates going for post graduate studies in UK Universities For 2013/2014 Academic Year. It meant to network, offer advice and discuss all that pertains to Postgraduate studies in the UK and also Living Experinces in the UK during the Study period. Prospective UK students and their Alumni are welcomed to say their opinion and also share their experinces. ThanksHello House! I am wondering if there's anyone in the house that is going to uk this year to further his or her studies. I will like us to rub her minds together. We could share our thoughts and experinces together. |
