AlphaMaximus:
This is my flight itinerary with United Airlines.

I will be switching airports from IAD (Dulles International Airport) to DCA (Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport).

I have two questions:

1. Considering that this flight itinerary involves one airport switch (IAD to DCA), will my checked bags be automatically checked through to the final destination of SBN (South Bend International Airport) or will I have to retrieve my checked bags at the port of entry, IAD, and check them again at the next airport, DCA?

2. What are the most seamless transportation options/routes from IAD to DCA?
You will have to retrieve your bags once you are done with customs clearance (port of entry) at IAD and you will immediately check it back into your next flight if you were to fly from IAD. But since your connecting flight is from DCA, you will have to go there to check your bags. Since it's a single booking, United might provide you with a taxi (or pay for it) to take you from IAD to DCA. IAD is in Virginia and DCA is in Washington DC and it's about a 45-minute drive.

Alternatively, you might ask about the train service. The best way to go about it is to ask United Airlines staff once you retrieve your bags in Dulles. The good thing is that you have enough time before your flight from DCA, so no cause for worry.

1. When you thought it was between 2 - 4 weeks why did you come to ask on nairaland again ? Why did you not rely on your thought?

Best Wishes 🙏
Thank you very much for your questions and I will answer them since I am not you who is answering someone's sincere questions and quest for clarifications with condescending questions.

I am here to ask despite my prior knowledge of the processing wait time the last time I checked, which might now indeed be outdated. Hence my emphasis on "recently" and follow-up questions to be sure if anyone has, in fact, done a student visa IW in Lagos within the past couple of weeks/months and to know their experience. My thoughts and prior knowledge regarding this matter are subject to change in the presence of new facts.

Now, if you don't mind, I would appreciate your help in responding to my last question with your current knowledge, if any, as the kind person that I believe you are.
Thank you.

You know someone whose visa renewal was out after 8 weeks recently in Lagos? I thought it was between 2 - 4 weeks.

Hello everyone,

Please, has anyone recently done an interview waiver for student visa renewal and dropped off their passport in Lagos? I would like to have an idea of the current wait time. Thank you.

Many Congrats and thanks for sharing the good news! Please, how long did it take the Lagos consulate to respond to your Emergency Appointment request? And was it within 60 days to your programme start date you applied for the EA?

UmmZayd:
You don't have to pay another fee. In my opinion, your resumption date is still far. Spending extra (going to Abuja) is not necessary. Apply for EA when you are within 60days to resumption and wait till end of June at least.
PS: You can change to Abuja by filling a new DS160, updating your profile on the Visa page then you will be able to see Abuja dates
Best of luck
Thank you. Although I heard if you are changing from Lagos to Abuja on the visa page, you don't have to fill a new DS160 - that the form can be accessed from any of the consulates actually.

It's not like I have extra money to spend to fly to Abuja and back etc but I would like to confirm - How many people have gotten EA response from Lagos on time after they requested it? I would really love testimonies from people who have had this experience.

1. At the moment, NO.
2. You'd have to cancel current appointment, restart the visa application process, select the new location and continue with the rest.

***Any attempt to cancel after changing to Abuja would result to you paying another visa fee.
THANK YOU so much! I might have to go with this option.
But one more question... After I have done that and changed location to Abuja and am not able to get an early date, would I be able to request for EA? Thanks

Deejayprof:
There are plenty May dates now

Why don't you pick a May date rather than waiting for EA in June
May date in Lagos? I checked yesterday and the dates there are 2023.
I had picked Jan 2023 earlier for Lagos.

Hello everyone,

Thanks for all the heads up on EA and all. I am resuming this fall on the 15th of August and I plan to apply for EA by June 15th.
However, Lagos was the location I picked and I am now paranoid about it since I have heard a lot of people say Abuja responds to EA faster.

My questions are:
1. Can I rely on Lagos to get an EA date?
2. How can I change my location to Abuja? - at least Abuja looks easier to get EA when one applies for it.

Please let me know how changing to Abuja can be done!

I’ve not gotten a response about my Emmergency request yet. I’m just hoping it comes soon.
Hopefully, you get it soon. But I don't think your travel date matters.
All that matters is your programme start date which is May 15th according to what you said earlier.
So you ideally should have applied for an Emergency Appointment within 60 days of that start date which would be nothing earlier than March 15th.
Although I am a new applicant, so this is based on the information I have been able to gather. I am also in the same position and would apply for EA in a couple of months' time.

Anyway, fingers crossed! Hoping they get back to you with a date sooner than you expect.

Hello everyone!

First of all, many thanks to @Abdomox and @NotSoBossyBoss who gave me the tip to send an email request for an account to be opened as a new user.

So when I tried to book, the earliest date available was January 2023 and my resumption date is this fall by August 2022.
How have you guys done it? Did any get an earlier date?

Although a friend advised that I pick the January 2023 appointment and opt for the expedited option in a month's time.
I have now scheduled my appointment for January and would request an emergency appointment later.

I would like to know if I am on the right track on this or are there are other ways? I am a new applicant!

Thank you.

Good evening everyone,

Please, I am currently experiencing a problem with creating a profile - to register as a new user in order to schedule an appointment.
It keeps giving me this error message:

What could possibly be the problem? I submitted my DS160 two days ago and paid the visa fee at GT bank yesterday morning.
I have also tried different emails but it's still the same. I called the embassy too but after waiting for long to be answered by an agent, the call drops from their end. Has anyone else experienced and got it sorted? I'd like to know how to go about it.
Please help!

Thank you very kindly.
