I've personally never seen a car directly consume more petrol because of a bad fuel pump, it could cause a misfire or engine could stutter, hesitate and rough idle,(which could indirectly cause loss in power which could cause higher fuel consumption) op if you have any of the symptoms, check and replace fuel pump, in fact just replace it, cause it should not be noisy.

A SOFTWARE developer in Johannesburg has taken the time-honoured African tradition of paying a bride price into the tech age. He designed an app to calculate the woman’s value.

Anyone weighing up whether to ask for a woman’s hand can enter her stats into 26-year-old Kopo Robert Matsaneng’s Lobola Calculator and it churns out her value in rands, and tells you how many cows that would equate to.

The app considers the person’s age, height, weight, waist size, and how attractive they are: ranging from “not at all” to “really hot”.

The prospective groom must also enter what qualifications the woman has, whether she has a job, whether she’s been married before and whether she’s got children.

“This is a fun app to calculate how much lobola you’re worth,” Matsaneng says in the app’s introduction. “It’s simple, fun and meant to be playful, so enjoy.”

Lobola is a tradition practised in many parts of Africa, where a man’s family approaches a woman’s relatives to propose marriage and to negotiate a bride price.

The custom symbolises a coming together of the two families. Lobola was historically paid in livestock, a symbol of wealth, but now it often includes other goods and money.

Cooking skills

While most users liked the app, some objected that it was not in tune with the true value of lobola, Matsaneng said on the app’s site. “Some people are already too angry about the concept,” he responded to queries requesting more valuation criteria, such as cooking and alcohol intake.

The app also maps out the average lobola values in South Africa’s different provinces as well as in Lesotho and Swaziland. The highest is R100 000, or 12 cows, in Lesotho and Swaziland. The lowest is R35 000, or 5 cows, in the South Africa’s arid Northern Cape province.

I use a Lincoln Navigator 2004 Model. I'm experience a noise from under the dashboard very much like someone farting continuously, this noise comes on at 60km/hr get louder and suddenly dissappear at 90km/hr and then vise versa when the speed comes down. Otherwise the vehicle has no other fault. Does anybody has any experience like this.

I have solved this problem countless times, a very easy fix!

When to Replace Your Automatic Transmission
Fluid
The Toyota Maintenance Guide for the four-cylinder Camry 5SFE engine says to inspect the automatic transmission fluid (ATF) every 30,000 miles. It doesn't say when or whether to replace the fluid, but in general, mechanics recommend a simple "drain-and-fill" every 30,000 miles. With most. automatic transmissions, ATF operating at or below 175 degrees F should last close to 100,000 miles. But for every 20-degree increase in temperature, ATF fluid life is cut in half. Cars can reach temperatures of 210 degrees or more during towing or stop-and-go summer driving. Fully synthetic ATF can withstand approximately 225 degrees before thermal breakdown.

When ATF breaks down, it "cooks," or oxidizes, losing its detergent and lubricating properties. It turns from bright red to brown or black, and has a burnt smell. Oxidized ATF can cause buildup of varnish and sludge.

Draining and Replacing the ATF
An ATF drain-and-fill is similar to a motor oil change, except there is no paper filter element to replace, and not all the fluid is drained. There is an internal metal mesh filter within the transmission drain cover, but it does not have as fine a mesh as an oil filter, and rarely requires replacement. The
drain plug is a 10-mm indented hex bolt requiring a hex socket. You add the new transmission fluid by removing the fluid level dipstick, and inserting a narrow-mouthed funnel into the dip stick tube. Approximately 2.6 quarts of fluid can be drained from the transmission oil pan, and replaced via the dipstick. Considerable fluid will remain in the transmission's torque converter, the transmission oil lines, and the radiator. If the fluid is dark red and has not turned brown, it’s okay to mix old and new fluid without flushing. But if the fluid is brown or black, a complete flush of the system would be in order. This would require about four additional quarts of oil.

How Flushing the ATF Works
The purpose of a 'flush' is to pump out as much as possible of the old oxidized ATF fluid out of the transmission and fluid lines. The engine's hydraulic pressure pumps new ATF through the system to push out an additional 4 quarts of trapped ATF. Before doing a flush, perform a drain-and-fill and drive the car for a few days. The new fluid's detergent additives will dissolve harmful deposits from transmission components. Once these deposits are broken down and suspended in the fluid, a flush will remove them. Even after doing a complete flush of an old, high-mileage Camry, you can expect the ATF to turn dark again within six months. At that time you can do a simple drain-and-fill or repeat the flush. The fluid should now stay red much longer.

Whenever the MIL (malfunction indicator light) goes on, there is a code waiting for you to down load.
There can be many reasons for the light, and only by scanning the car could anyone ever know what it really is.

An EPC (electronic powertrain control) warning light in a VW indicates a problem in the powertrain control system. This can be one of 17 faults, including lack of communication between the powertrain and many systems, such as the fuel injector or air conditioning unit. It can also indicate performance control problems, defects and malfunctions of the EPC.

To find which of the 17 problems a VW is experiencing when it displays the EPC code, an OBD II Scanner needs to be plugged in and used to read the exact problem.

Pls note that a DIY OBD-II scanner might not pick up some of the codes. To get good scan results, use a professional scan tool.

If you drive an automatic using your left foot highway or city driving will not matter, it will be prone to faults.

I press the clutch for quite a long time especially during hold ups... d clutch doesnt come back to its normal level .like it should instead it gets stuck and I have tk pull it up with my leg or sometimes my hands.

It is hydraulic, cable would not return if pulled up.
