Nigeria - President Muhammadu Buhari was absent at the International Conference Center for the meeting slated to broker peace among the factions in the leadership tussle of the 8th National Assembly, PUNCH reports. Reports say the lawmakers-elect and some chieftains of the party had converged for the meeting only to hear that elections were going on at the National Assembly and that Senator Bukola Saraki had emerged the new Senate President. Present at the ICC meeting were some APC governors, chieftains of the party and former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu. The Spokesman of the party, Lai Mohammed, arrived several hours later. We’ve all had friendships that have fizzled and faded out over the years. Sometimes one person moves away, which makes staying in touch hard. Other times, there was some sort of fall-out that you two couldn’t get over, and thus the friendship had to end. Most people think that when you end a friendship, it has to be this big knock-down-drag-out fight, but that is not the case. There are times when you may feel that you no longer want this friend in your life and guess what? That’s totally fine. There are no rules that say that you have to be friends with someone. If you’ve got a personal issue and choose not to continue a friendship or if you really don’t like someone, you don’t have to be their friend. If you’ve ever felt pressured to be friends with someone, know that you aren’t the only one. Here are 5 reasons you don’t have to be friends with someone. (1) You Feel Pressured To Do Things You Would Never Do Friends are supposed to have things in common. If your friend does things that you are completely against, or you feel pressured to do them because you’re his/her friend, it’s not cool. You should never do anything you don’t want to do, or feel like you have to prove yourself to your friends. (2) They Make You Feel Bad About Yourself No one should ever make you feel bad about yourself. If you’ve started to notice that your friend is tearing you down more than lifting you up, you need to end the friendship. They’re not a true friend and you don’t need that negativity in your life. (3) You’re Not Into Gossip, But They Are Gossiping about things and people that you know is normal. Gossiping non-stop about everything is not. If you’re friends with a girl/guy who constantly gossips and puts others down, but you’re not into it, then you don’t have to be his/her friend. It’s really hard to be around someone who loves to see others upset, if this isn’t you, then don’t feel bad about not wanting to hangout with him/her as much. (4) You Don’t Really Like His/Her Personality Let’s be real, there are some people in the world whose personalities just don’t click, and that’s okay. Some people just aren’t meant to be friends. This doesn’t mean that you have to be at each others throats, but you guys don’t have to be friends either. (5) You See No Effort From Their End Being used is never okay, especially when it comes to friendships. If you feel like you are constantly putting more effort into the friendship and don’t see any effort from their part, and you feel they only come to you or remember you when they are in dire need of a favour, then end it. There are just no two ways about it.... You can add yours...wish u all the best in your relationships (one love) Credits...... http:///bUtbbpwSI5 |
Sad and horrifying and gross and true. A hotel restaurant in Anambra, Nigeria has been shut down by authorities for serving human flesh. According to the BBC, suspicious residents told police of rumors that the restaurant was cooking human meat for customers. Police then raided the restaurant, where they discovered fresh human heads that were still bleeding. The blood was in the process of being drained into a plastic bag. In addition to the illegal meat, authorities discovered automatic weapons, grenades, and cell phones. Ten people were arrested in conjunction with the crimes. One resident said, "Every time I went to the market, I observed strange activities going on in the hotel. People who were never cleanly dressed and who looked a bit strange made their way in and out of the hotel, making me very suspicious of their activities. I am not surprised at the shocking revelation." A priest who ate at the restaurant was alarmed when presented with a bill of 700 Naira, or roughly $3.50 (Tens of millions of people in Nigeria subsist on less than $1 a day). "The attendant noticed my reaction and told me it was the small piece of meat I had eaten that made the bill scale that high," he said. "I did not know I had been served with human meat, and that it was that expensive." Last year, Australian chef Marcus Volke murdered and cooked his girlfriend before killing himself. In Brazil, also last year, a man and two women were arrested for murdering potential nanny candidates and then cooking their flesh into empanadas. http://www.eater.com/2015/5/15/8613497/nigerian-restaurant-shut-down-for-serving-human-flesh |
Shocking Revelation: Vice Principal Of Chibok School Fingered In The Kidnappings Of The Abducted Girls By Boko Haram Parents of more than 200 schoolgirls abducted a year ago in the northeastern Nigerian town of Chibok have suggested that the vice principal (academic) of the school where the teenage girls were kidnapped was complicit in their kidnap. According to reports by Nigeria’s online Tabloid, Saharareporters reports that the parents claimed that the role of the vice principal was at least questionable, adding that their daughters were made vulnerable to Boko Haram kidnappers. A mother of one of the abducted girls, Mariam Abubakar, stated that Vice Principal Yerima Banjiri had told the school girls that any one of them who failed to sleep in the school the night of the abduction would be expelled as a student of Government Girls Secondary School Chibok. According to her, “A week before their abductions, Malam Yerima threatened the students not to leave for their various homes. He said that whoever went home should forget she was ever a student at the school. He told the girls that none of them should go home, that they must sleep in the school. However, none of the teachers’ daughters or even the daughters of the management staff was among those kidnapped. Only the children of we poor people were asked to sleep in the school. The [teachers and administrators] had kept their children in safer places before Boko Haram arrived.” The distraught mother accused the vice principal and possibly other staff of conniving with Boko Haram. “Our concern is that since the day of [the girls’] abduction, we have never set our eyes on Malam Yerima. He is on run,” Ms Abubakar said. A father of an abducted girl also criticized what he characterized as the Federal Government’s approach of levity in dealing with the abduction. “We have lost confidence in the Nigerian government’s, reaction to our missing children. Nobody asked any questions to the teachers. In fact they are moving free in cities. Why has the government not investigated any of the teachers??” he asked. One of the parents told SaharaReporters that they had been warned not to speak about their suspicion of the vice principal and other teachers and administrators. But several of the parents and relatives of the abducted girls said they had run out of patience after more than a year since the abductions with little or no hope of their daughters’ rescue. The Central Bank of Nigeria on Tuesday raised concerns over the increasing use of foreign currencies as a medium of exchange in the country and warned that persons caught in the illegal act risked a six-month jail term upon conviction. The central bank said in a statement that some individuals and corporate bodies had been using foreign currencies, especially the United States dollar, to price some of their products and services, and were also using same as a medium of exchange. The development, the bank said, was against the provisions of the CBN Act, 2007, and asked members of the public to report anyone caught transaction business in the country in foreign currencies to it or the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. The statement issued by the Director, Corporate Communications, CBN, Mr. Ibrahim Muazu, read, “The attention of the bank has been drawn to the increasing use of foreign currencies in the domestic economy as a medium of payment for goods and services by individuals and corporates. “It has also been observed that some institutions price their goods and services in foreign currencies and demand payment in foreign currencies rather than the domestic currency (the naira), which is the legal tender in Nigeria. “For the avoidance of doubt, the attention of the general public is hereby drawn to the provision of the CBN Act of 2007, which states inter-alia that ‘the currency notes issued by the bank shall be legal tender in Nigeria…for the payment of any amount.’” It added, “Furthermore, the Act stipulates that any person(s) who contravenes this provision is guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a prescribed fine or six months imprisonment. “This prohibition, however, is without prejudice to foreigners, visitors and tourists who are encouraged to continue to use their cards for payments or exchange their foreign currencies for the local currency at any of the authorised dealers’ outposts. “The general public is hereby advised to report any contravention of the provision of this Act to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the CBN for appropriate action.” Meanwhile, the naira fell to 204 against the dollar at the parallel market on Tuesday as politicians were said to be engaged in massive purchase of the greenback ahead of the governorship and state Houses of Assembly elections on Saturday. The naira had risen to 190 against the United States currency on Sunday following the peaceful conduct of the presidential election. Foreign exchange dealers, who spoke with our correspondent on the condition of anonymity, said the naira tumbled on Tuesday after politicians mopped up dollars on the streets of Lagos, Abuja, Kano and Port Harcourt. “The naira is falling because politicians are buying dollars massively on the street market to fund the campaigns ahead of the governorship and states’ Houses of Assembly elections on Saturday,” one of the dealers said. Zimbabwean president, Robert Mugabe, 91, who is rumoured to be lining up his 24 year old daughter to replace him as president of the country, looked like he wore weave and earrings as he arrived in South Africa yesterday morning for a state visit. His first trip in 20 years. But on close inspection of the funny photo, you'll see that the hair and earrings belong to a woman standing directly behind him. http://lindaikeji..com/2015
