A Nigerian lady has shared a story with Nigerian popular relationship expert Joro Olumofin saying that guys who propose and began to misbehave to curb such acts.

According to the post on the microblogging site Instagram the lady narrates that a good friend of hers just called her this morning to inform her that she is getting married to another man following the incessant misbehaviour of the boyfriend after proposing to her.

Advising men who think they have done a favour to any lady they propose to desist from the act. She recounts that the boyfriend after proposing to her best friend a year ago stopped calling, started flirting and seem to have lost interest in discussing the wedding arrangement with the lady.

The lady narrating the story revealed that her friend sold the engagement ring given to him by the boyfriend and she has purchased a wedding gown with the money she made from the sale of the ring with the plans of marrying another man the following month unknown to the boyfriend.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) issues a stern warning to Governor Yahaya Bello and the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the gun attack at its governorship primary election in Lokoja, Kogi state.

The party says the resort to violence and bloodletting cannot save the failed governor and his party, the APC, as the PDP and the people of Kogi state are firm in the irreversible resolve to use every means available in a democracy to confront and vanquish APC’s evil plots ahead of the November governorship election.

It is clear to all that Governor Yahaya Bello has become chaotic in the face of his rejection by the people as well as the soaring popularity of the PDP in Kogi state, and has now resorted to violence in a failed desperate attempt to prevent our party from presenting a candidate for the election.

For the avoidance of doubt, the PDP had a peaceful, decent, clean, clear, credible and transparent process in the conduct of our primary. Accredited delegates had voted and the balloting had been concluded in a very orderly manner before the vicious attack by the gunmen, who were shouting pro-Bello mantra and accompanied by known APC faces.

The PDP only has pity for Yahaya Bello and the APC because our processes are still intact and nothing can sway our resolve as well as strong will by the people of Kogi state to kick them out of office in November.

This is more so as the attack has further united our governorship aspirants, critical stakeholders, leaders and teeming members and supporters across the state for a common front against Yahaya Bello and the APC.

Indeed, nothing can detract from this, as the attack has further united and bolstered the people of Kogi state to remain behind our party in the decisive struggle and the noble objective to liberate their state from the violent and suppressive forces.

Our message to Yahaya Bello and the APC is that their days in office are already numbered and that they cannot stay a day beyond the stipulated hand-over date.

In resorting the violence and forceful occupation, the APC and rejected Governor should have known the people of Kogi state have never in history, bowed in subjugation to any body no matter the force or intimidation.

That spirit of resistance to oppression and force has been triggered and we caution the APC to steer clear of the wrath of the people, who have decided to take back their state by voting in the PDP, come November 16.

Telecoms giant, MTN Nigeria, said it has confirmed attacks on its facilities in three major cities of Lagos, Ibadan and Uyo in Lagos, Oyo and Akwa Ibom states respectively, ostensibly in retaliation for ongoing xenophobic attacks against Nigerians in South Africa.

Its Company Secretary, Uto Ukpanah, in a statement, explained that sequel to the attacks and the premium the firm has placed on its human capital and other stakeholders, all service centres and offices will remain shut.

Ukpanah said: “MTN Nigeria Communications Plc confirms that over the last day, our facilities, customers and some of our stakeholders have been the subject of attacks in retaliation for the ongoing xenophobia situation in South Africa.

“We have confirmed reports of attacks in Lagos, Ibadan and Uyo.

“While we remain committed to providing uninterrupted services, the safety and security of our customers, staff and partners is our primary concern.

“All MTN stores and service centres will, therefore, be closed as a precaution until further notice.

“MTN condemns any acts of violence, prejudice and xenophobia and remains absolutely committed to ensuring a peaceful harmonious and respectful relationship with all communities in Nigeria and across Africa.

“We are engaging all relevant authorities in this regard and we urge them to act swiftly to reduce tensions both in South Africa and Nigeria. We will provide further updates as and when possible”

The Oyo State House of Assembly on Thursday commenced the review of the over N285 billion budget approved for 2019 fiscal year by the immediate past Governor of the state, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.

The move to slash the budget followed the second reading of the Oyo State Appropriation and Finance bills 2019 during the plenary presided over by the Speaker, Mr. Adebo Ogundoyin.

Ajimobi, had on Monday, 31st December, 2918 presented a proposed budget of two hundred and eighty-five billion nairas (N285,000,000,000.00) for the 2019 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly. 

But, his successor, Mr. Seyi Makinde, is seeking a reduction of the 2019 budget by forty per cent, putting the new proposed figure at N171 billion, as against the one earlier earmarked for the year under review.

The bills, which passed through second reading at the plenary were later referred to the House Committee on Public Account, Finance and Appropriation.

Ogundoyin while justifying the proposal, said the 2019 budget is an inherited bill which does not really represent the direction the present government intends to go and the agenda it plans to pursue.

He urged members of the House Committee on a public account, finance and appropriation to critically review the budget in line with the vision of the present administration.

The Deputy Speaker, Abiodun Fadeyi, Majority Leader, Sanjo Adedoyin and the Minority Leader, Asimiyu Alarape in their contributions called for adequate review of funds allocated to various Ministries, Departments, Parastatals and Agencies of government in the said budget.

The Ekiti State House of Assembly has summoned former Governor Ayodele Fayose to appear before it to throw light on alleged misappropriation of local government funds while in office.

Also summoned are former Chairman of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) Dapo Olagunju, former Commissioner for Local Government Affairs Kola Kolade and 16 former local government chairmen.

The Assembly, in its plenary on Thursday, August 29th took the unanimous decision sequel to the adoption of the recommendations of the joint committee of the House on Public Petition and Local Governments on a petition submitted to the Assembly by eight suspended PDP council chairmen.

The Assembly had on December 18, 2018, suspended indefinitely the 16 council chairmen and 177 councillors to pave way for a forensic audit of the councils’ accounts over alleged fraud. Eight were reinstated in July, following a petition they filed, appealing for their reinstatement. Others were suspended for further forensic investigation.

In a reaction, Fayose, through his media aide, Lere Olayinka, said:

“Fayose will not dignify an Assembly of clowns, who are under the total control of a governor, who is desperately in search of ways to cover his electoral thievery and failure to secure the acceptance of Ekiti people.

“If they have any evidence of financial impropriety against him (Fayose), they can ask the man who used SMS to appoint them to invite EFCC operatives and accommodate them in the Government House as he has done on many occasions. As for us, we are moving on.”

The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, on Thursday, said the Federal Government would complete all ongoing and abandoned projects across the country.

He disclosed this when the management team of Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria paid him a courtesy visit in his office.

Fashola said the policy direction of government was to complete all ongoing and abandoned projects.

The minister, who was responding to the remarks of the Board Chairman of the FMBN, Adewale Adeeyo, on the uncompleted recapitalisation of the bank, said the ministry would see that the process was completed.

He was quoted in a statement issued by his ministry as saying, “It (FMBN recapitalisation) is one of those areas of urgent focus by the President as a way of creating prosperity and enhancing the dignity of Nigerians.”

Fashola said there was a lot that could be jointly done by the ministry and the bank, assuring the bank’s team of the ministry’s readiness to look at its projects that were ongoing and fashion out ways of completing them.

Manchester United may be about to get Alexis Sanchez off their hands but they will still be saddled with an enormous wage bill, according to reports.

Sanchez has become a figure of ridicule at United since joining from Arsenal in January 2018, scoring just three league goals in 32 appearances and increasingly being confined to the bench or the stands.

Fatmata Edna Kargbo, an aide to the Sierra Leonian President, Julius Maada Bio, has been relieved of her job, the sequel to a testimony she reportedly shared at the Synagogue of All Nations led by Pastor T.B. Joshua.

Ms Kargbo, who worked as the president’s State Chief of Protocol had travelled to Nigeria to share her testimony, a handful of online medium had reported.

The ex-presidential aide reportedly showed photos of her appointment letter and luxurious house during her testimony.

The East African stated, “The Anti-Corruption Commission began probing State Chief of Protocol Fatmata Edna Kargbo after a video of her talking about her wealth went viral early August.

“In the video, Ms Kargbo gave a testimony about her wealth at the Synagogue Church of All Nations, a church based in Nigeria, sparking outrage from citizens.”

The medium reported that Kargbo made a PowerPoint presentation during her testimony, detailing how God had blessed her “within a short period of her appointment.”

Spokesman of the nation’s anti-corruption agency, Success Kamara, on August 27, 2019 was quoted to have told the Africa Review that “Such a testimony, we think, is a cause for concern.”

Kargbo reportedly testified, “I want to thank God for blessing me with this job as SCOP to the President of Sierra Leone, ambassador at large and the blessings that come with it.

“If you look closely at this picture, you will see my luxurious house God has blessed me with.

“I was living in a single room apartment. But my story is now different.”

It was reported that the Sierra Leonean public has been discussing the issue with frustration, especially at a time when the government says it’s trying to minimise public spending.




Quoting a letter by the Office of the Sierra Leonean President, online media stated, “The official has been relieved of her duties following a testimony she gave in a Nigerian church.

“Further administrative investigations will be carried out.”

Also, in a press release on Wednesday, Sierra Leone’s Anti-Corruption Commission said Kargbo is being investigated.


“The Anti-Corruption Commission has opened an official investigation into the conduct of the official and her testimony.

“We will also look at her source of wealth in acquiring her house and other properties.

“If it contradicts the anti-corruption act or we find instances of unexplained wealth, she will be charged to court and will be asked to pay a fine,” the release said.

Senator Elisha Abbo has dragged Nurudeen Kama, a former aide to former Adamawa State Governor Jibrilla Bindow, to court over a Facebook post he claimed was aimed at defaming him.

In a Facebook post which pointed out why the Senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District shouldn't be compared to Tafawa Balewa (Nigeria's first Prime Minister), Kama implied that Senator Abbo was a drunk, a drug addict that molests women, gay, bisexual, an idiot and a HIV patient deliberately transmitting HIV to women.

Following his arrest last week, Kama who was charged to court on Monday August 19, was accused of using derogatory words to tarnish the image of the Adamawa-born lawmaker before members of the public.

The defendant who was granted bail in the sum of N500,000 after he pleaded 'not guilty' to the charges against him, is expected to produce two sureties - a blood relative and a traditional ruler in his community. The Nation reported that he also signed an undertaking not to tamper with ongoing investigations into the matter.

A quick check on his Facebook page also revealed there are other scathing posts targeted at Senator Abbo. His August 13 post read;

Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita, the Head of Service of the Federation, arrived the State House Assembly and is currently attending the swearing in ceremony of Ministers.

Shehu Sani, the immediate past Kaduna Central Senator, has said that the All Progressives Congress, APC, will end with President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

Sani, who used to be of the APC, explained that the ruling party was not formed on the basis of ideology, hence its end in 2023.

He made this remark on Tuesday while receiving the executive members of the Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, on a courtesy call to his residence in Kaduna.

The former lawmaker stated that the future of Nigeria was dependent on having a political party with credible leadership and a clear ideological direction.

Sani also stated that one of the major tasks before PRP remained the reformation of the party for “men of honour and integrity to take over relevant positions and win elections in 2023 in order to free Nigerians from deception, fraud, and misrepresentation of which the ruling APC is notorious.”

He pointed out that “APC begins with President Buhari and it will end with Buhari.

“APC is not a party that is founded on ideology; it is a party that is found on resentment against PDP and it is also a party that is founded under the banner of President Buhari. It is unfortunate for all the promises and pledges of cleaning, reforming and reconfiguring this country; the ruling APC had failed.”

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Southsouth, Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has urged former Minister of Transport Rotimi Amaechi not to relent in his vision for a better Nigeria.

He described the conferment of the highest rank in the Catholic Church on Amaechi as a confirmation of his commitment to the service of God and humanity.

Eze, in a statement yesterday, said the recognition of Amaechi could only be achieved through a long-term show of public spirit, dedication to godliness and untainted love for brotherhood and society.

The Exemplification Honour of the Knights of St. John from the Grand Master, Nigerian Temple of Noble and Exalted Knights of the Holy Cross Knight of St. John International was conferred on Amaechi on August 18 for his services to the order and humanity at the Pope John Paul II Catholic Centre in Abuja.

The party chieftain noted that the honour would spur Amaechi to further service, describing him as a special gift to the Nigeria and humanity.

He urged public servants to follow the footsteps of the minister-designate, whose legacies in public service he described as noble.
