A former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Timi Frank has urged more Nigerians to come up with more credible evidence in their possessions that clearly show that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, made use of server to transmit election result in the last presidential election. Frank commended a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, who had yesterday released some documents he claimed to have shown that INEC deployed the use of computer server for electronic transmission of the 2019 election results. Frank, a former chieftain of the APC, claimed that the leadership of the current electoral body lied on oath, and can no longer be credible to conduct any election. Reacting to Omokri’s revelations through a statement he made available to Thickmatch.com on Thursday in Abuja, Frank said INEC must be forced to produced the central server it used during the presidential election. The Bayelsa-born political activist, however, said that leaders of thought and all Nigerians who are in possession of one document or the other regarding the controversial central server should speak up now for posterity sake. While calling on the judiciary to take note of the latest evidence in circulation, he charged the court of law to conquer fear and intimidation which he said the APC administration is known for, and do the needful because of posterity. “Nigerians are patiently waiting for the determination of the Judiciary which is the last hope of a common man. Atiku Abubakar’s stolen mandate must be returned. Nigerians are tired of a directionless government of APC where huge debt is threatening the nation, where poverty, unemployment, all manners of killings, kidnapping and injustices are fast becoming the order of the day,” Frank stated. He also said: “Prof. Mahmood Yakubu-led INEC has gone down in history as the worst electoral empire which posterity will hardly forgive. All the known credible local and international observers totally condemned the outcome of the last general elections under Mr. Yakubu. “The Judiciary should know that the world, all relevant international organizations and Nigerians at home and abroad are watching the unfolding events regarding the central server used to compile the last election. This particular case must not be likened to that of Ademola Adeleke in Osun state. The Judiciary must however redeem its image.” Frank also called on the international community to pay more attention to ongoing debate and ensure proper sanction of the electoral officials when it becomes clear how they manipulated the outcome of the last presidential election. Britain’s ambassador to Washington resigned on Wednesday after Donald Trump labelled him “stupid” and “wacky” following the release of confidential memos from the envoy in which he branded the US president’s administration inept. Memos from Kim Darroch were leaked to a British Sunday newspaper, infuriating Trump who launched a stinging Twitter attack on both the envoy and British Prime Minister Theresa May who had given him her full support. “Since the leak of official documents from this Embassy there has been a great deal of speculation surrounding my position and the duration of my remaining term as ambassador,” Mr Darroch wrote in his resignation letter. “I want to put an end to that speculation,” he added. “The current situation is making it impossible for me to carry out my role as I would like.” Ms May told parliament after the resignation was announced that she had spoken to Mr Darroch, who was due to leave his post anyway at the end of the year. “I have told him it is a matter of great regret that he has felt it necessary to leave his position as ambassador to Washington,” she said. The lawmakers said the PDP should have instead held the members who endorsed Elumelu and three others as minority principal officers responsible for the loss of the party’s nominees. The PDP had nominated Mr Kingsley Chinda as Minority Leader; and three others as Deputy Minority Leader, Minority Whip and Deputy Minority Whip and sent the list to the Speaker, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila. The PDP had invited Elumelu and five other leaders of his faction to a meeting at the weekend but the lawmakers had called for a rescheduling of the meeting, telling the party that they were out of Abuja. The party had suspended the Minority Leader and the five lawmakers for one month. Addressing journalists in Abuja on Monday, 25 of the pro-Elumelu lawmakers called for a rescission of the suspension, while passing a vote of confidence on Gbajabiamila. A PDP lawmaker from Cross River State, Mr Ochiglegor Idagbo, who spoke on their behalf, cited Order 7 Rule 8 of the House Standing Rules as deriving its strength from Section 60 of the Constitution and stating that, “Members of the minority parties in the House shall nominate from among them, the Minority Leader, Minority Whip, Deputy Minority Leader and Deputy Minority Whip.” He partly said, “The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila has communicated the resolution by majority members of the minority caucus on July 2, 2019, and he went ahead in accordance with our rules to read same on the floor on July 3, 2019. “That said, we would like to also state that the parliament, since 1999 till date, has remained an independent body that has not been coerced into accepting any leadership imposed on it by external influence, not in line with the wishes of the majority of its members. “We would like to appeal to our party Chairman (Uche Secondus), the National Working Committee of our great party, the Board of Trustees of our party and the National Executive Council of our party, who we know are seasoned and experienced politicians that understand these dynamics, to rescind their earlier decision to suspend our leaders and some of our colleagues, who through no fault of theirs were nominated and elected by majority of members of the minority parties. “If an offence had been committed in this process, the perpetrators should be all 111 of us who nominated our colleagues to serve in that leadership position, not the seven members suspended by our great party. “Finally, we use this opportunity to sue for peace and to state that we are available for further discussions with our party, the NWC, the party Chairman, the NEC of our great party and the BoT on a way to resolve these issues and to move our party forward. We also use this opportunity to call on well-meaning party leaders, particularly those with legislative experience, to intervene on our behalf in order for this matter to be laid to rest so as not to affect the fortunes of our party in the future.” Get full here https://thickmatch.com/suspend-111-reps-endorsed-elumelu-minority-lawmakers-dare-pdp/

An Assistant Presiding Officer (I) during the February 23, 2019, presidential election, Mr. Adedokun Adeoye, on Monday failed to show the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, which provision of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s manual authorised him to transmit the results of the poll. Adoye took the witness stand as the petitioners’ fourth witness at the instance of the Peoples Democratic Democratic Party and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, who are by their petition challenging the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress. Adeoye who was earlier led by the petitioners’ lead counsel, Dr. Livy Uzoukwu (SAN), to adopt his witness statement on oath as his evidence-in-chief, was cross-examined by the respondents’ lawyers. While being cross-examined by INEC’s lawyer, Yunus Usman (SAN), Adeoye insisted that he transmitted the results of the election to INEC server after collation. Buhari’s lawyer, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), confronted the witness with the claim that it was the duty of the Presiding Officer “to transmit the results in the necessary form to INEC”, and not the APO I’s duty. The witness insisted that it was APO I’s duty to transmit the results. But when shown the guidelines issued by INEC to point out where it was stated as part of the duty of APO I to transmit results, Adoye could point out the part. The leader of the All Progressive Congress, (APC), and former Governor of Bayelsa State, Chief, Timipre Sylva, has challenged the current governor of the state, Hon. Seriake Dickson, to stop deceiving Bayelsans and fly from his acclaimed Bayelsa state Cargo Airport if really it has been completed and commissioned for use. Sylva said after spending such outrageous monies on a project that is not feasible, he(Dickson), still flies and lands in Port Harcourt Airport instead of using the airport he claimed to have built. The former governor, stated this while addressing friends, colleagues, party stakeholders, well-wishers and close associates in Yenagoa, on Sunday, during the occasion of his 55th birthday celebration. He revealed that he was astonished when he went to hire a plane at a particular occasion to travel down to Bayelsa but he was told that there is no airport in the state, noting that its high time questions are asked on the true status of the airport. “Yes, the current governor has done a few thing but the airport which is a great idea is surrounded by deceits and fraud. When Dickson wants to travel in a private jet, he goes to Port Harcourt instead of using the airport he claimed to have built. ”At a particular occasion we heard the project’s cost was 100 billion, then later he (Dickson) claimed it was 80 billion, then when I took on him based on the frivolous figures, he quickly reversed the figure and said 65 billion. He doesn’t even know the cost of the project because of his hidden agenda, and even with the figures, let him land in the airport which is for Bayelsa, at least we have an airport which has been completed and working. He should tell us the true story behind the airport. ”Look at Isaac Adaka Boro express road, it has been under construction for 8 years, I wonder what kind of road is that, we don’t know who the contractor and what has been spent on it. Yenagoa has become a dark city, like a city in the dark ages. Hunger is now walking on the street of Yenagoa in the form of insecurity. ”You can’t walk on the street of Yenagoa freely because of insecurity, but the time for change has come, the time for division has ended, Ijaw people must be united because we are the same people with the same culture. ”This is not how a state capital should be, Yenagoa is dirty, dark, smelling and flooded. Bayelsa is a state that should be developed than the level it is today.” See more here https://thickmatch.com/stop-deceiving-bayelsans-non-functional-airport-sylva-warns-dickson/

The Carolina Waterfowl Rescue organisation has detailed how it uses the clasps of discarded bras to mend broken shells of injured turtles. The North Carolina, USA-based nongovernmental organisation notes that the rainy season is a lot trickier for turtles because it’s the time they move around to lay eggs. According to CWR’s executive director, Jennifer Gordon, via a series of posts on the social media, turtles suffer more injuries than people realise, hence the need to formulate safety devices for them. Noting that turtles are sometimes injured as they come into contact with humans and moving objects, Gordon lamented that 90% of all turtles hit are females laying eggs. She said CWR has been using bra clasps to repair turtle shells along with other rehabilitators for almost 20 years or longer. “The idea is not new. When I started rehabbing, we used cool whip lids, paperclips and just about anything we could find to fashion splints and braces, etc.,” she said. She lamented that turtles are an underappreciated species, and that part of the CWR efforts was to highlight this and that the organisation is poised to generate awareness about how the reptiles become injured. Using a technique they had learnt from Thunder Wildlife Rehab, CWR organisers now repair the injured turtles’ shells with tape, glue and bra clasps. “Thanks to Wild Thunder Wildlife Rehab for this great idea! If you’re discarding a bra, you can cut the clasps off and send them to us. “We use them for turtle shell repair. The wire that holds the broken parts of the shell together is fastened to the turtle with bra clasps. “After some time, the glue wears down and the clasps pop off, leaving the turtle as good as new, ” CWR said on its Facebook page. Apart from repairing their damaged shells, CWR also offers turtles for adoption. See more here https://thickmatch.com/old-bra-can-save-injured-turtle-women-told-ladies/

Federal lawmakers have started discussing with the representatives of various banks operating within the National Assembly on how to secure loans to meet their accommodation challenges pending the payment of their welcome package. Members of the 9th National Assembly were still expecting their welcome package about one month after their inauguration. The money, which has been conservatively put at between N65m and N70m for each lawmaker, is meant for their accommodation, personal vehicles, quarterly allowances and others for furniture and wardrobe. A senator from the South-South geopolitical zone told our correspondent on condition of anonymity on Friday that he had approached the banks because he was tired of sleeping in hotels. He said, “Part of my plans pending the payment of our allowances is to secure a loan facility that I could use to buy land and pay one-year rent within the Abuja city centre. “I know that before the expiration of my one-year rent, I would be able to supervise the construction of my own building project. I hope to repay the loan whenever our allowances are paid. “I actually got the idea from a discussion with some of my colleagues who have started the process.” Attempts to get the official reaction of the Chairman, Senate Ad hoc Committee on Media and Publicity, Senator Adedayo Adeyeye, failed on Saturday as his phones did not connect when our correspondent called his mobile lines. He had also yet to reply the text message sent to him as of the time of filing this report. However, a principal officer of the Senate who spoke on condition of anonymity said there was no law forbidding any Nigerian from seeking loans. He said, “Taking loans is a personal issue and it is legal. There is no law that stops anybody from taking loans.” But a member of the Senate ad hoc committee on welfare told our correspondent on Saturday that necessary arrangements had been perfected to ensure payment of the lawmakers’ welcome package latest by this week. He, however, explained that the amount would not be up to N70m as reported in the media. The ranking senator said, “We have concluded all arrangements with the management for the disbursement of the money which is necessary for us to settle down. “Many of our colleagues are still living in hotels since they arrived in Abuja incurring huge bills.” See more here https://thickmatch.com/lawmakers-seek-bank-loans-accommodation-abuja/

National leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has said the Supreme Court ruling, which upheld the election of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola in the 2018 Osun State governorship election showed the judiciary as unbiased. The judgment rejected the appeal of the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke. Tinubu, in a series of tweets, on Friday, stated that the apex court had performed its duties without fear or favour. The APC leader said, “Today (Friday’s) Supreme Court judgment affirming the victory of Governor Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State is a further testimony that our judiciary is firmly on course and works in sync with the people’s aspirations. “The judgment has further vindicated the judiciary as unbiased, independent and impartial. In spite of the intimidation, unnecessary accusations and rumour-mongering, the apex court lived to its billing by dispensing justice without fear or favour. “The court did not rule based on any hearsay but acted on the basis of the merits and demerits of the case before it. The Supreme Court and the judiciary, therefore, deserve our commendation for it has further strengthened the democratic process.” Tinubu added that, on the issue of the Electoral Act, it was only the Independent National Electoral Commission, as the electoral body, that could apply the law appropriately with respect to elections. According to him, the commission discharged itself creditably on the Osun election. “The decision of the apex court lays to rest the tussle over Osun governorship and removes all encumbrances on the path of the governor. Now, governance can begin in full swing and the people of Osun can begin to reap the fruits of the government they voted to put in place. “I congratulate Governor Oyetola for his steadfastness and for remaining calm while the electoral case lasted. I commend the government and people of Osun in allowing the rule of law to run its entire course. “I urge them to continue to assist the security agencies in maintaining and sustaining the peace. Governor Oyetola should be magnanimous in victory, extend his hands of fellowship to the Peoples Democratic Party and continue to unite the people,” he said.
