OFFICIAL STATEMENT: One of the greatest players in our history during his long and illustrious career, Lampard returns to Stamford Bridge having signed a three-year contract. Lampard learned from some of the best managers in the history of the sport during his trophy-laden 13 years at Chelsea when he blazed a trail. Only Ron Harris, Peter Bonetti and John Terry played more than his 648 games and Lampard famously leads our all-time scoring chart with 211 goals. His goal touch allied with all-round quality and fantastic stamina helped change the way football views the modern central midfield player. Lampard's dedication to improvement, versatility and reading of the game was exemplary, and those assets bode well as he begins life in charge of an elite Premier League club he knows inside out. Not surprisingly Lampard has a fantastic relationship with the Chelsea supporters, who voted him their Player of the Year three times and who have sung his name regularly since he left in 2014. Everyone at the club is excited to see him patrolling the Stamford Bridge touchlines and leading the quest for more silverware. Lampard left Stamford Bridge in 2014 having won three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, two League Cups, the Europa League and, of course, the Champions League. He is also the Blues player to have represented their country more than anyone else in our history. He retired from England duty with 106 caps and 29 goals to his name, hanging up his boots for good in February 2017 having left a remarkable legacy in the game as a player. We hope he will do likewise as a manager. Read more here https://thickmatch.com/chelsea-welcomes-back-frank-lampard-officially-returns-new-chelsea-manager/

Three times Premier League champion Toure has been without a club since leaving Olympiacos in December, terminating his contract by mutual consent after a disappointing brief return to his former club. Toure denied suggestions last month that he had subsequently retired as he is hungry to keep playing and insisted he still has 'a few more years' left. Toure has also been the subject of interest from the Middle East but moving to China will allow him to resume playing straight away with the League One season underway and running until November. Qingdao Huanghai is currently at the top of the Chinese second-tier. Read more here https://thickmatch.com/breaking-former-man-city-captain-yaya-toure-joins-chinese-club-2nd-division/

Femi Fani-Kayode, former minister of aviation, has reacted to Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo’s decision to step down as the Senior Pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, COZA, over alleged rape allegation from Timi Dakolo’s wife, Busola. Pastor Fatoyinbo had in a post on his Instagram page on Monday, announced stepping down from the pulpit following the rape saga. He wrote: “The past few days have been very sobering on me I have taken time to seek spiritual counsel form Christian leaders around the world who feel very concerned about the ongoing report in the media. “I have solicited their guidance on actions I should take that is honoring to our Lord Jesus Christ and the work he has called me to do. “Drawing from their counsel and that of the leadership of COZA and owing to my love for Lord’s work and the sacred honor of my calling I have decided to take a leave of absence from the pulpit of the church.” This came on the heels of protests asking the cleric to step down over rape allegations dogging him. Reacting, Fani- Kayode on his Twitter page commended Fatoyinbo for stepping down, as he called on Nigerians to put all their focus now on planned RUGA settlements. According to him, the COZA pastor is a great preacher and would rise again. The former minister further asked Nigerians to also channel their protest to a case of an Islamic cleric who reportedly raped a 16-year-old girl. Fani-Kayode wrote: “Now that Pastor Biodun Fatunyibo has stepped down as Pastor of COZA can we get back to RUGA? “An Islamic cleric rapes a 16-year-old girl yet no outrage is expressed on social media and no protests at the mosque. “Why the double standard? Is it because no-one knows the little girl and she comes from a poor home? Is it because she is a Muslim? Is she not a human being too? “At least Biodun Fatoyinbo had the decency and courage to step down. How many others can do that? “I have worshipped at COZA and whatever anyone may say about that young man he really is a very good preacher. He also loves God! I am praying for him! He shall rise again!” Read more here https://thickmatch.com/biodun-fatoyinbo-will-rise-fani-kayode-calls-coza-pastor-lover-god/

Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi Monday paid sympathy visit to Orin-Ekiti, Ido/Osi Local Government Areas of the State where a local hunter was murdered by suspected gunmen. Fayemi said the killing of Emmanuel Ilori, whom he described as a one of the leaders of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the town saddened his heart. He said the people of the state will now witness deployment of more soldiers, armed policemen and other security agencies so that they can sleep with their two eyes closed. Fayemi, who faulted State Chapter of the Peoples’ Democratic Party for attaching political coloration to the incident by alleging that he was planning to give Ekiti land to “outsiders” in exchange for future political ambition. He said the allegations peddle by the opposition party lacked content of validity. “Nobody is coming to take our land in Ekiti, the governor of Ekiti State has power over the land of Ekiti and it is the person that the governor gives land in Ekiti that can use the land of Ekiti. “If there are negative comments being peddled around that some people are coming to take over Ekiti land, take over Orin land, take over Ido land, it’s a mere hearsay. “It cannot happen in Ekiti except I am no longer the governor of Ekiti State and there is nobody that can be governor in Ekiti that will cede Ekiti land to outsiders because our land is not even enough for us. “Adequate security of our people is what concerns me most in Ekiti and Nigeria and I want our people to ignore lies and falsehood some individuals are spreading around. “There is nobody that will be governor in Ekiti that will allow outsiders to take over our communities from the people here or say that people coming from elsewhere should come and take over Ekiti (land). “Those saying these are only playing politics with the matter. This is not politics; security is an issue that concerns all of us. “Some individuals have been spreading baseless rumours to cause disaffection because they are no longer in power and it is their wish that Ekiti should be consumed by anarchy. Speaking further, Fayemi said: “I want to assure you that our government has not stopped work on security. One of the steps is that our local hunters will work with our security agencies. “Not up to three weeks now, our Kabiyesis (traditional rulers) and community leaders held a meeting and we deliberated on measures and ways to tackle security challenges. “No single individual or group can do the work of security; the local hunters know their areas and terrains very well than the men of our security agencies and it will serve the people well if they work together. “I am in Orin today to sympathize with you and tell you of the steps being taken by the government. There is no way we can be happy in Ekiti hearing that one of our people was killed more so when the victim was one of our party leaders in Orin. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate in the 2019 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, have told the Supreme Court to allow them access to a server purportedly used by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to transmit Nigeria’s 2019 presidential election results. This followed the rejection of the request at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) in a ruling on June 24. Atiku is insisting that he defeated President Muhammadu Buhari at the polls, going by the results allegedly got from the said central server allegedly owned and deployed for the elections by INEC. Atiku and the PDP, in the notice of appeal, are contesting the tribunal’s ruling on four grounds. First: They argued that the PEPT was in error when “contrary to the provisions of Section 151 (l) of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended) they refused to grant the application of the Appellants on the ground that it will amount to pre-judging the issue in the substantive case.” Second: They argued that the tribunal was in error when it failed to exercise its discretion in their favour despite sufficient materials placed before it. Third: They faulted the tribunal for allegedly denying them “fair hearing in gross violation of Section 36(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), by declining to grant the application of the appellants for access to information in the 1st respondent’s custody thereby undermining the maintenance of the petition” in the third ground. Fourth: They argued that the tribunal’s justices “erred in law when they failed to consider the uncontroverted evidence of the appellants contained in their further affidavit in support of their application for access and inspection of information in the custody of the 1st respondent.” Read more here https://thickmatch.com/nigeria-election-atiku-pdp-finally-move-buhari-inec-supreme-court/

Popular Nollywood actor and member of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), Akah Nnani, has renounced his membership of the church due to the rape allegations levelled against the senior pastor of the church, Biodun Fatoyinbo. The TV host, who was among several protesters demanding justice for Busola Dakolo, claimed Pastor Fatoyinbo is for now a rapist until facts state otherwise. He made this known on his Instagram page on Monday. “After watching @busoladakolo account, I believed her 100%. But I was advocating for proper procedures of getting justice on this matter because of reasons best known to me. “Again, I was still in shock too. I admit, I still am in shock. I’m also not a fan of jungle justice or court of pubic opinion because I suffered it in secondary school wrongfully. “But after the behavior of the church organisation today on this matter, not just the pastor, there is no need. “It is shameful for me to call myself a member of that church. A friend said to me “his moves are like that of Pablo Escobar”. I couldn’t help but agree. “It has taken me time, but I am finally here. “We will say it for what it is. Until facts state otherwise, Pastor @biodunfatoyinbo is a rapist. “There is a syndicate around him that protects him, and this involves Pastor Flo of Lagos Church, Pastor Wole of PH parish, church staff, other ministers and I dare say, his wife. “I am no longer a member of that church. I call on every one who has a conscience to boycott @cozaglobal. “Thank you to every Nigerian fighting. Thank you to every celebrity using their voice. ” You understand that your influence is not for you. Thank you. I drew strength from your voice. “We continue to pray for him that God will touch his heart to own up to his crimes and the light of God to expose everyone involved in the syndicate. “I stand with Busola Dakolo, I stand with every woman who has been raped. I stand against rape and rape culture. I stand against the rot in the church. @timidakolo I am 100% with you. #istandwithbusoladakolo “I rest my case on this matter now. “Let the place scatter!!,” he wrote. Veteran comedian and social commentator, Alibaba has called out prominent pastors for keeping mute over the rape allegations levied agaisnst Biodun Fatoyinbo, pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA). Fatoyinbo, who has stepped down, was accused by Busola Dakolo of raping her as a teenager causing wild outrage on and off social media. Despite the various comments on the issue, pastors of prominent Nigerian churches are yet to speak. Alibaba noted that the case would have been different if it was about members of the church and not a fellow pastor. He wrote @alibabacfr on Instagram, “When it comes to preaching against what members of the congregations are doing wrong, its in Vol 1, 2 and 3. “Fornication, smoking, indecent dressing, drinking, night clubbing, polygamy, divorce, robbery, domestic violence, terrorism, being stingy, racism, corruption, greed, homosexuality, adultery, mixing with bad gang. “But touch, not the Lord’s anointed and do my profits no harm,” Alibaba said. Although Fatoyinbo denied the allegations, he stepped down on Monday following peaceful protests at COZA branches in Lagos and Abuja on Sunday. see more here https://thickmatch.com/coza-alibaba-blast-pastors-keeping-silent-rape-allegations/
