The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned Governor Seyi Makinde against the move to reconstitute the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC). APC in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Dr. Abdulazeez Olatunde said it got a report that the Governor had forwarded names of his proposed nominees to the State House of Assembly for screening in spite of the pending suit and injunction filed by the dissolved members of the Commission challenging their dissolution as illegal. Olatunde in the statement forwarded to Us on Friday said, “We are aware all court processes in the suit were formally served on the Governor, Oyo State House of Assembly, the Attorney General, the Head of service and OYSIEC yet the Governor chooses his familiar path of lawlessness. “This is not the first time the government of Governor Seyi Makinde will disobey court judgement, orders and processes. We recall that in spite of a judgment of the Supreme court and the direct orders of the Oyo state high court restraining the Oyo state government from dissolving local government councils, nor appointing caretaker chairmen, Governor Makinde disobeyed same blatantly and dissolved the councils. Contempt proceedings are now pending against state officials on this. “This present step by Gov. Makinde is yet again another challenge to the judiciary and the rule of law by the current administration. It is a shame that the leaders who swore to uphold our constitution are now shredding it and dancing on its tatters. This is how recklessness and lawlessness resume in a society, when the head of govt cannot respect the law, how can an average citizen respect the rule of law. “We recall in January 2017 when the administration of Governor Ajimobi was served with a court injunction by a federal high court in Abuja to stop the local government elections from holding, Makinde’s predecessor complied and postponed the elections. Rather than follow this noble example, this current Governor has been boasting on air that he will reconstitute OYSIEC and conduct fresh local government elections no matter what, even when an existing judgment forbids it. Such is the direction our state is now sliding to, lawlessness, disobedience, defiance of court and brigandage by those in authority. “The people will not fold their arms in resignation neither will our great party, the APC. We are however law-abiding and will confront this continuing recklessness using all lawful means. We hereby notify the nominees and all the members of the house of assembly, not to lend themselves as tools in the hands of a reckless executive to despise another arm of government, the judiciary. “We, therefore, urge them not to wallow in another man’s sin by conducting any screening nor should the nominees present themselves for screening before the House, recognizing that every nomination, screening, swearing-in or appointment made illegally as threatened and done in defiance of the rule of law shall be voided and set aside by the court under the law. “We shall on our part continue to stand as a bulwark against disobedience to the rule of law and lawlessness for which the current Governor has become synonymous, rather than the legacy of a safe, law-abiding and modern Oyo state which was bequeathed to him.” Read more here https://thickmatch.com/oyo-apc-slams-makinde-constitution-oysiec-says-action-reckless-undermines-rule-law/

Italian club side, AS Roma will storm Nigeria for a pre-season friendly and also open a football academy in the country. The decision is one of the highlights of the partnership agreement announced between the Nigeria Football Federation and the Italian club. While announcing the partnership on their twitter handle, AS Roma added that they have a long term objective being for the club to play an exhibition match in the country. Sports minister, Sunday Dare, NFF 1st VP Seyi Akinwunmi and 2nd VP Shehu Dikko with Jim Pellota of As Roma in the middle at the AS Roma and NFF partnership agreement. The two parties also agreed to explore the possibility of AS Roma playing an exhibition match in Nigeria – something that club president Jim Pallotta has championed for some time. “This formal partnership is the natural evolution of the great relationship between the N.F.F and Roma that began when Roma announced that with Italy absent from the 2018 World Cup, we would be supporting Nigeria,” said Paul Rogers, who traveled to Abuja to agree the partnership with Massimo Tarantino. “Roma’s digital team began working with the Super Eagles in 2018 on their social media coverage of the World Cup and earlier this year, we again worked with Nigeria during the Africa Cup of Nations. Through our unique use of social media, and initially using the hashtag #ForzaSuperEagles, we’ve developed an incredible and fun rapport with Nigerian football fans, media and celebrities and earlier this year we became the first club outside of Nigeria to launch an official Pidgin account, which is managed in Lagos. “Jim Pallotta has made no secret of his wish to see Roma play a match in Nigeria as a thank you to the Nigerian fans for the support they have shown us and it would be great if through this partnership, we can make that happen.” Read more here https://thickmatch.com/roma-open-football-academy-nigeria/

There is no gainsaying the fact that recent weeks have been challenging for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The opposition party has been battling with cold since one of its pillar of strength , perceived financier and governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, sneezed. The party has suffered one sleepless night after the other since the Rivers State governor stormed out of the venue of the presidential primaries of the party from which Alhaji Atiku Abubakar emerged the presidential candidate of the PDP in the build-up to the 2019 general elections. Since then, he has taken various other actions that left the minders of the party worried. For instance, in the aftermath of the National Assembly elections where Hon. Kingsley Chinda, the candidate he and other party chieftains supported for the minority leader’s seat in the House of Representatives lost to Hon. Ndidi Elumelu, Wike roundly condemned the panel set up by the party to investigate the ‘coup’ against the party, describing it as corrupt. Then came the dismissal of Atiku’s petition in the case he filed at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal against Buhari’s re-election. While the leaders and chieftains of PDP kicked against the judgment, Wike openly congratulated Buhari. Wike’s move sparked anger in PDP’s camp as chieftains of the party called his loyalty to question. In the midst of these came the rapport the Rivers State governor developed with his Ekiti State counterpart, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, since Fayemi took his stand on Wike’s side in the latter’s alleged demolition of a mosque in Port Harcourt. Fayemi has since followed this up with a visit to Wike in Port Harcourt where he also commissioned projects. The development has left many wondering if Fayemi’s actions were impelled by his position as the Chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) or a prelude to an agenda that is yet to unfold. The more curious observers are even asking if Fayemi is the one anointed to midwife Wike’s final parting of ways with the PDP as is being speculated in some quarters. https://thenationonlineng.net/fayemi-wikes-newfound-friendship-set-tongues-wagging/amp/

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) hails the upholding of the elections of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State and Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state by the governorship elections petition tribunals in the two states. The party says the verdicts place as seal on the acceptance of the governors as demonstrated in their landslide victory at the March 2019 governorship elections in both states. The PDP said the report of celebrations in the states at the breaking of the news of the verdict is a testimony that indeed justice was upheld in the rulings. The party notes that just like other governors elected on the platform of the PDP, Governor Okowa and Governor Ikpeazu stand out in their commitments towards developing their states, particularly the massive infrastructural projects in key sectors including, manufacturing, agriculture, oil and gas, power, road infrastructure, education among others despite prevailing challenges. The PDP urges the governors not to relent but continue in their commitment in delivering on their mandates for the good of all, in line with the manifesto of the PDP. The African Action Congress (AAC) collation agent for Rivers State governorship election, Nenye Kocha, has testified that Governor Nyesom Wike won the March 9 election. Kocha, who testified as AAC’s star witness yesterday, said there was no time the AAC candidate led in the race during collation of results. He told the tribunal that the party had only 418 agents across the 4,442 units. As a new party, it was only able to clear four House of Assembly candidates and one governorship candidate, he added. According to Kocha, Donatus Bariko, from Gokana council, and Henry Iyala, from Degema council, who testified for Awara as party collation agents, were not party members but imposters. Kocha admitted that the party no longer had a deputy governorship candidate following the withdrawal of Chief Akpo Bomba Yeeh from the race. According to him, the AAC won in only two councils – Akuku-Toru and Oyigbo – as declared by INEC. He said most of the witnesses presented by Biokpomabo Awara initially were not members of AAC. The witness said AAC started in August 2018 and prepared for the election two days after it was adopted by APC. A certified video clip was also presented by AAC, through its subpoenaed witness, Osademe Joseph. The video proved Wike won the governorship election after collation of results between April 2 and 3. Osademe told the tribunal that he was one of the producers of the live broadcast of election results collation between April 2 and 3, at INEC’s headquarters in Port Harcourt. In the video clip, INEC declared Wike winner of the poll with 888,264 votes ahead of AAC candidate, Awara, who came second with 173, 859 votes. The video also confirmed the collation and declaration of Obio Akpor council results and non-declaration of Gokana and Abua/Odual councils. The matter was adjourned till today. A relationship adviser, Joro Olumofin has advised men to give their partners good s*x about 12 to 15 times in a week. According to him, most men have been failing in their duties and this has affected the smooth-running of their homes. The advice was dished via his Instagram account. This has infuriated Nigerian men who believe having s*x with their women just once in a week or twice will do due to work stress and other life engagements. “Men it is your duty to give your wife or girlfriend sex 12-15 times a week, every GIVEN week. A lot of women are suffering in silence In their relationships because of SEXUAL MALNOURISHMENT, lugubriously when a woman asks for more sex It’s either she’s pulverizing a mans Ego or she’s a “hoe”. If you’re sexually occupying your woman sexually 12-15 times every week. You won’t have time to occupy other women. Also if you can’t do this you shouldn’t be in a relationship” he said. The blogger has been heavily attached on social media after a serious argument broke out.. See more here https://thickmatch.com/men-duty-give-wife-girlfriend-sex-12-15-times-week-relationship-expert/

Leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, will on Tuesday, lead a Delegation to the United Nations, UN, Office, in Geneva, Switzerland. The Media and Publicity Secretary of the group, Emma Powerful, who disclosed this on Sunday, in a statement, however, said that the details of these meeting would not be made public. The statement partly reads: “Going by the relentless engagement of the international community by our great Leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, we the global family of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, consider it imperative to inform the great people of Biafra, friends of Biafra, and lovers of freedom, that in keeping with the promise of our Leader, during his last outing at the European Union, EU, he will be leading a Delegation to the UN Office, in Geneva, Switzerland, on Tuesday, 18th September, 2019. “As usual, details of these meetings will not be subject to public disclosure, as we are well aware of the lengths the corrupt, fraudulent, and election stealing cabal, will go to hamstring and frustrate our efforts. “Not many people know that Nigerian Ambassador to the EU, personally rang Seb Dance, the Member of the European Parliament that invited our Leader to the EU, to try bullying him into cancelling the event. “Anytime we make public our critical Diplomatic engagements, the corrupt Nigerian government has used their considerable wealth and clout of sovereignty to cajole, buy-off, bribe, intimidate, and threaten their business interests in Africa. “Nigeria it must be said, sent two female Diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to observe our Leader’s presentation at the European Parliament. “Our Leader even walked across to these Diplomats after the event, to thank them for coming. “Any Nigerian or Agent of Nigeria that wants to know the outcome of the Brussels outing, should ask the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, after all, two of their Diplomats were there to hear our Leader speak.” According to the statement, Kanu would during the trip, engage in a series of meetings, and would for the first time officially present to various UN Agencies and bodies, a catalog of serial killings, abductions, massacre, and ongoing reign of terror in Nigeria against Biafrans. Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday said past administrations collected N15 billion as security votes between 2003 and 2018. The commission stressed that the funds were spent to settle the security men who used to mill around serving governors. The agency’s Zonal Head Isyaku Sharu said this in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, at the 26th edition of Media Parliament lecture of the Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ). Speaking on the topic, titled: Anti-Corruption Fight in Nigeria, Progress and Challenges: The Kwara Sstate Experience, Sharu admitted that corruption had become endemic in the country. The zonal head said the EFCC was established in the state following several complaints from the residents. Read Also: BREAKING: N92m, $169,850 recovered from Yahoo Boys in 38 days, say EFCC, FBI He said: “The continuous complaints of the people of Kwara State became much louder in the periods ending the Year 2018 wherein the Acting Executive Chairman of EFCC, Mr Ibrahim Magu, had to create the Ilorin Zonal Office of the commission to look into the long-standing persistent economic and financial crimes issues in the state. “It is noteworthy that Kwara is one of the first created states, as far back as May 27, 1967, and has had several leaders. But the state has over the years not maximised its potentials largely due to the alleged cases of mismanagement and embezzlement of the state’s resources.” Sharu, who noted that though the commission resumed in the state in February, added: “In the course of carrying out our assignment, we have noticed with great disappointment that the people of Kwara State are sometimes scared of exposing the corrupt and bad eggs amongst them.” But he assured the residents that despite the obstacle, the commission secured 26 convictions, recovered several properties ranging from hotels, plaza, residential apartments, fleet of cars and hundreds of millions of cash, which were all forfeited to the Federal Government. The zonal head also said the anti-graft agency had checked cybercrimes, popularly called “Yahoo Yahoo”, in Kwara, Kogi and Ekiti states, its areas of operation. Sharu said the commission had created awareness on corruption through public enlightenment campaigns in schools and among National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members. The zonal head urged journalists to assist the commission in sensitising the people on its long-lasting values which abhor illicit and fraudulent tendencies. Kwara State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mallam Attahiru Madami, urged journalists to help eradicate corruption from the society. “We no longer practise our family value system, which abhors bad behaviours and bad name. Our leaders are no longer leading by what they say and they don’t live by example,” he said. https://thenationonlineng.net/past-govts-spent-n15b-on-governors-security-aides/amp/
