Firstly every country wants the inflow of stronger foreign exchange currency in other to grow their economy. The west sanctioned Russia by denying him access to Euro and USD and even freezes Russia's assets in Western banks.

As a result of this Putin demands the payment of his gas resources in Rubbles and every customer must open account in a particular Russian bank so as to create a high demand for his local currency. This singular move strengthened the rubbles at the rate of around 40percent within a few days.

The West says they'd rather pay in Euro and USD. Are they not returning the same currency they denied him in more assured way and having it converted according to Russia's terms and rates?

This will further stabilize the economy of Russia because they will have money to trade hitch free with other less hostile countries that use usd and euro especially Asian Countries especially now that they are using an alternative china's CIPS which is a viable alternative to west's SWIFT.
