Some youths suspected to be political thugs, yesterday, set ablaze the residence of third-term Senator, Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya, in Gaya Local Government Area of Kano State. The youths also set ablaze the campaign office and poultry farm of the House of Representatives member from the area, Alhaji Abdullahi Mahmoud. An eyewitness told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano that the incident occurred around 11 a.m. According to the witness, the youths were protesting alleged failure of the two politicians to fulfill the promises they made to them during the electioneering campaigns in 2015. It was gathered that security agents had initially dispersed the protesting youths, who later regrouped and burnt the senator’s house before heading to the campaign office and poultry farm of the House of Representatives member. NAN gathered that the hoodlums had also attempted to burn the residence of the chairman of Gaya Local Government but were over powered by security personnel deployed to quell the violence. When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of Kano State Police Command, DSP Magaji Majiya confirmed the incident. He said the police in the area were still trying to contain the situation. “Our men in Gaya are still trying to bring the situation under control but as soon as we get details of the incident, we will keep you posted,” he said. Gaya, the House of Representatives member did not respond to phone calls yesterday. He was said to be away to the United States of America. An aide in Senator Gaya’s office confirmed, “he’s out of the country but I heard the issue actually revolved around light and water in the constituency,” he said http://sunnewsonline.com/kano-youths-set-gaya-mahmouds-houses-ablaze-over-electoral-promises/ |

Well full deregulation means immediate hike in price and accompanying hardship for an average citizen but on the long run, competition would make PMS to sell lower than present government approved pump price especially if more licenses to market petroleum products are issued to interest parties. . My opinion though judging from what is seen amongst Telecommunications Operators |
