PoliticsRe: Minister Performs Ground Breaking Ceremony For $400m Steel Plant In Ogun by Dougad: 7:43pm On Apr 26, 2025
The precedent for failing to complete projects despite ascribing vast amounts of money to them is one so deeply seared in the hearts of Nigerians that we feel that these recent projects need to be near completion before making a spectacle of them.
Music/RadioRe: In ‘Gimme Dat’, Ayra Starr, Wizkid Evoke Undeniable Nostalgia - Review by Dougad: 5:22pm On Apr 26, 2025
Recycling stale beats, melodies and flows annually for 7 years does not nostalgia bring. Critics need to be honest with this guy. It's exactly like a 40-year-old Ronaldo starting for Portugal
TravelRe: Oghenero Adaware: What Cape Verde Taught Me About Being Nigerian by Dougad: 3:28pm On Apr 26, 2025
themosthigh:
Let me tell Nigerians the truth.

As long as you carry that worthless passport tied to a country that is poor, filthy, and savage, you will never be respected. Not abroad, not at home, not anywhere.

Imagine the shame in the 21st century, while other nations are building space stations, your villages are still being burned by armed bandits, your women are being dragged into forests to be raped like animals, and your government stands there, arms folded, counting money.

Imagine the disgrace: a country where human heads are sliced off like goats and sold to ritualists, not once in a blue moon, but every single day.

Imagine the horror: a country where cannibalism still exists, while the rest of humanity worries about climate change and colonizing Mars.

Imagine the stupidity: a nation whose people shine everywhere else — doctors, engineers, billionaires — yet at home they cannot even generate electricity for themselves or run clean water through a pipe.

Imagine the filth: a country whose biggest exports today are 419 scammers, drug mules, and sex workers. That is what the green passport is now associated with.

Imagine the barbarity: a land where thugs smash ballot boxes, politicians hire murderers, and elections are soaked in blood — where something as basic as standing in line to vote becomes a fight for survival.

And you dare ask why the world spits when they hear ‘Nigeria’? Why they double-check your passport at every airport? Why they look at you with suspicion?

The truth is brutal: You have built nothing, maintained nothing, fixed nothing.
The railways the colonialists left you are now iron skeletons rotting in the sun.
The roads are pothole graveyards.
The gutters of Lagos stink to the heavens.
The cities are cesspools of corruption and filth.
And yet you want ‘respect’?

Respect is not given to beggars or broken nations.
Respect is taken by power, by achievement, by dignity.
Nigeria today has none of these things. Until you fix your house, until you fix your disgrace, the world will see you not as equals, but as a punchline a sad, pathetic joke.
Nigeria is a problematic hellhole but you will not add more issues to the basket of problems we're contending with. Where exactly does cannibalism take place here?
PoliticsRe: How Badly Has The Elite Yoruba Tribe Sank by Dougad:
Herdsmen:
That man is a nobody and not being paid a kobo. He’s on nairaland for faceless fame

Stop wasting your morning on him.

You’re making a valid point .

Pls learn to ignore the being
He's a tout and worthless lowlife. There's hardly any thread where the government is critiqued where he won't show his ugly face. For him, as long as the people at the helm of affairs are Yoruba, every policy they put forth is right.

There is makeup test, there is accountability in jamb.
When did they start implementing that? Cos some of my buddies had their PCs shut down on them while taking the exam in 2015 and couldn't do anything but return a year later.
EducationRe: Ibadan UTME Chaos: Students Smash Chairs Over Technical Glitch (video/photos) by Dougad:
I understand their anger because those who got screwed due to no fault of theirs will still have to wait for a year before they can retake the exam. No makeup test, no refund, no nothing. Not even an apology. It's a disgrace.

Music/RadioRe: Tiwa Savage - You4me (Official Lyric Video) by Dougad: 4:12pm On Apr 25, 2025
Only times I've enjoyed songs from Tiwa recently are when she's a featured artist. Her solo work leaves a lot to be desired. She's essentially the female Wizkid. Creatively bankrupt and uninspired.

Which good music is Skales making?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fMi1veStbsk?si=KoRw-V1PnrtJwuij

This song and music video alone has more life and energy than 95% of what Wizkid has dropped for the past 6 years.
Music/RadioRe: Ayra Starr & Wizkid - Gimme Dat (Lyric Video) by Dougad:
Wizkid's sound for the past 6 years bar a few songs is tired and exhausting. The beats, recycled; melody, repetitive; lyrics, rhythm and subject matter, unchanged. The feature with Ayra Starr is just a pathetic attempt to rejuvenate his ailing career. I can already visualize how the music will play out. Eyeglasses and lazy dancing that'll portray him as wishing he were doing anything but the video. If you had told me 10 years ago that Skales, of all people, would eventually make better music than Wizkid, I fit swear for you. But alas, that's the case currently.

Notwithstanding, his contribution to the global popularity of afro-pop is undeniable, and forever will be, despite the uninspired route his career has since taken.
PoliticsRe: Uromi Killings: Edo Slams IPOB Over ₦‎6 Billion Compensation Claim by Dougad: 1:44pm On Apr 25, 2025
Not that I care about IPOB. Actually, fûck them! But why does the Edo government show much
vitriol to a group that has not done anything to his state but remain silent about the marauders and invaders actually causing harm. The defection to the APC by various individuals occupying key positions in the South South, married with the loud silence to the violence meted to their constituents, broadcasts their complicity in the ever-long terror plaguing these parts.
EducationRe: Why Do Many Facebook Profiles Lie About Their School by Dougad: 6:26pm On Apr 24, 2025
I've never given it much thought. Although my cousin put Uniport in her Facebook profile for years despite nothing until last year when she eventually gained admission to the school. So there's that.
FoodRe: Cost Of Cooking Jollof Rice Soars To ₦25,486 Per Pot — SBM Intelligence by Dougad: 11:34am On Apr 24, 2025
Another falsely concocted report, courtesy of bad data the IMF peddles as representative of the nation. SBM intelligence are in dire need of a stern warning—one that should result in a sincere apology alongside a promise that it will never be repeated again. Followed up by a recant of this fake news and a republishing of the real amount—less than N5000.
SportsRe: Joshua Grateful To Nigeria, Departs For Next Fight by Dougad: 10:29am On Apr 24, 2025
Anthony Joshua should retire before walking himself into an avoidable CTE condition. He's made over $500M from boxing, an Olympic Gold winner and a two-time champion. His peers—Wilder and Fury, who are not as dignified as he is—are already retired to enjoy their millions in good health. That devastating knockout blow from Dubois should have been the end for him, hence he risks the inevitable.

RIP to the deceased!

Reminds of the UK story last year where a guy killed his ex-girlfriend, her sister and her mom, with a crossbow, I think.

But this is a Guyanese crime story. What's it doing here?

Pls tell me the economic gain made under Jonathan?

Many of you are just following without thinking.
Obj handed over debt free nation to Jonathan ,
Jonathan enjoy increased in oil output and sales making him generate more money than other former head of state combine together.
Obj left $67 billion in reserve.
Jonathan squander everything still left debt if $7trillin with 23 states unable to pay salary.
Jonathan was an awful president because of the corruption under his watch. Buhari was a 100x worse.

Naira devaluation really caused our GDP to drop, but experts say it will be beneficial to our economy in the long run.
Without a considerable rise in exports to take advantage of the devaluation, we'll be even worse off.
PoliticsRe: IMF Apologizes To Nigeria As Experts Disagree With IMF's Downgrade by Dougad: 7:01pm On Apr 23, 2025
The APC government under tinubu excels at superficial performative gestures. They are so richly blessed with an elite mastery of pretentious productiveness while actually doing nothing to guarantee progress. It's a sick obsession. An elaborate act they put on in an attempt to deceive their followers with low intelligence and one they succeed at. If there were an Academy Award for best actor in governance, they'd win it every time.
PoliticsRe: "We Are Heading To A New Direction, A New Path" - Okowa Addresses Constituents by Dougad:
Commit a crime while occupying a key role as part of the ruling party of a state. Your tenure ends and you lose power—no longer untouchable. In this state of vulnerability, you defect to the central ruling party to see your sins quickly become forgiven. Your slate—wiped clean. People of your ethnicity who you brutally exploited and at their expense swelled your pockets line up to forgive you. And it's only expected because you are their brother after all. The illicit wealth you've stolen and stashed becomes yours for life. The story repeats if the balance of power ever so slightly shifts. Such is the story of Nigeria's democracy—the so-called beacon of Africa.

No , what set us in this mess was subsidising stuffs with money generated from under recovery, over recovery
This took us to the theme of eating from the national cake.
Government started playing the role of father Christmas to the masses.
This is why we are in the disaster we are in.
People see government as bad because government is no more doing for them what they were doing but not meant to do
The father christmas activity was done to mask their own looting. Giving the people some reprieve while they bled the commonwealth dry. I'm very wary of people like you who depict the government as a patron saint instead of painting the true reality as being a way for them to keep their heads as they stole.

How easy was it to buy 18k rice at that time? I guess minimum wage then was 17k.
Easier than now for sure. No one ever said a bag of rice was easily picked on the street when Jonathan was in power but you didn't have to break an arm and a leg to afford it like you have to currently. I and some of my buddies who just finished secondary school at the time worked while our admission to the university was pending, earning anywhere from N10K to N25K. If we wanted to put smiles on our parents faces while exhibiting a sense of responsibility for our respective homes, all we had to do was save two months' salary to either buy a bag of rice or cover some expenses. Not that our parents needed it but it built character.
Can a new secondary school graduate today earn 50K to 100K while seeking admission at the university? Are they even sure of earning that after they get their degree?

Oh, I forgot! Nigeria occupies the royal seat of the weird category. Also, pictures of members of the admin sitting with white people can be broadcast to ignorant APC fools as evidence of a hardworking administration.

As gods not as the God. Elon acted as though nothing could touch him which was very strange
I don't believe they think any different from Elon. Reading stories about how they interact with others and even watching a few interviews of them will let you know that Elon is not at all unique. He's just the only one foolish enough to publicly broadcast it. And they all need to be humbled. For them, it's not enough that they are rich; they also want total world dominace.

Another massacre. Another headline. But life goes on. Who knows? Maybe Tinubu might take time out of his busy schedule to express 'sympathy' for the victims, after which he'll then make an empty promise to catch the killers, while barking at the governor, who, by the way, has no constitutional power to enact any meaningful change, to bring the killers to book. Or he'll simply pretend that the massacre didn't happen like several prior, and then take another month-long vacation. Perhaps in Rome or Madrid this time around.
