PoliticsRe: Benue Killings: Alia Laments Says Death Toll Now 55 by Dougad:
When a certain ethnic group is explicitly touted as superior, not because of any laudable accomplishments in a single field of note, but by the carnage they inflict in their wake with impunity, it is then left for the afflicted, the disenfranchised and the forsaken, abandoned to their fate and doomed to reprise the role of a damsel in distress, to band up and make Lady Justice their whoré, absent a pîmp.

Bbdiyya:
The trauma of 2015 General elections hasn't left you yet? Man up please! Since the advent of democracy in Nigeria each political disdispensation has it unique problems from Obj to Tinubu none of them got it right. GEJ's own is not exception, we're all alive and witnessed how few individuals amassed wealth at the expense of the masses. So stop the lamentations! All of them are birds 🐦of the same feathers .
Equating the myriad of political violence that played out under Buhari's watch before he even ascended to the seat to the corruption that happened in GEJ's government, something that also persisted in the former's administration, is the kind of argument that only an APC slowpoke can dare to make. And there was no lamentation. If the truth stings, you either say it or keep mum. But certainly don't deflect. Because at the end of the day, it's either you agree that stoking the flames of political violence for selfish desires is uncharacteristic of a president or not.

PoliticsRe: 70 Per Cent Of Nigerians Hold Grievances Against Government, Rich People – Repor by Dougad:
Only a slobbering slowpoke would argue that the government is at all blameless. However, the people themselves are equally bound in folly. Buhari's utterances in 2011, immediately after losing the presidential election, culminated in the loss of life of 800 people, innocent Youth Corpers working in polling booths included. Barely a year later, he would double down on his bloodthirsty, sadistic rhetoric with the infamous statement: "dogs and baboons soaking in blood."

Threatening violence on the people he intended to lead should have disqualified him as a candidate to anyone with a sense of self-preservation. Animals in the wild, if equipped with a decent level of cognitive reasoning, would not make such a grave, extinction-worthy mistake. Yet, Nigerians queued up en masse to vote for him, handing him the presidency on a platter for two terms.

They see kindness, empathy—a government with a listening ear—as a sign of weakness. His threat of violence was probably the biggest lure of his campaign to them. Now everyday they cry, as though not self-inflicted.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Exempted As Trump ‘moves To’ Shut Down US Embassies In Africa by Dougad: 1:59pm On Apr 18, 2025
LordBiden:
No.

Nigeria is an important partner.
Most US presidents do visit Nigeria.
There are people who voted in the last presidential election that were not yet born when a US president last visited the country. "Most do visit" is an oversell of the country's importance.
SportsRe: After All The Bragging, Vinícius Jr Seen Begging Saka For Jersey Swap (Photos) by Dougad: 5:36pm On Apr 17, 2025
Showing respect for a player by making a request for his jersey, something not uncommon in the sport, has taken a different turn because a Madrid player dared to do it. That he's humble enough for ask for it, despite the loss, demonstrates his sportsmanship and respect for the game.

Arsenal will not make it to the finals. That one too sure sha. Real Madrid get leaky defence na be the problem. The clubs awaiting them don't have that problem.

Nah... One goal is enough.

If Saka had buried that golden gift, they would have been in cruise control... Their defense would do the rest.

I pray they keep their composure till the end.

They deserve to go through ahead of the 15-time winners.
This Madrid hater don show

PoliticsRe: Social Media Is A Terrorist Organization — Sultan Of Sokoto by Dougad: 7:05pm On Apr 16, 2025
If the sultan, the physical embodiment of peak excellence and intelligence in the north, can stoop low to liken social media to terrorism, then the region truly is a lost cause. Haiti probably stands a better chance of reaching success in the next 100 years than the dilapidated shitholistic region. It's one thing to find yourself in a deep trench—even if not of your volition, but as the consequences of your parents' actions—while still exerting effort to climb out of the rut. It's also a different story entirely to cry out for a bigger shovel to dig yourself further down than your parents even thought possible.

BusinessRe: Shareholders Urge Dangote To List Refinery In Nigerian Exchange (NGX) by Dougad: 6:44pm On Apr 15, 2025
Dan18:
Crude is an international commodity, therefore even the country can't dictate the price and sell to outsiders in its local currency.
Selling to dangote(a local refinary) in local. Currency means the operations Of the refinary won't be run on usd and would not gulp the already scarce fx in circulation.
The participating bodies in the transaction are both local. The USD still circulates within the country. While I'm not particularly against or for it, it's basically a net zero policy dressed in nationalistic sentiment, a superficial economic performance, so to speak, that neither depletes nor add, but sounds good to the masses.
BusinessRe: Shareholders Urge Dangote To List Refinery In Nigerian Exchange (NGX) by Dougad: 2:21pm On Apr 15, 2025
What is selling in naira suppose to actually do? What's the end game of such a ceremonial act besides gesturing to the simple among us as something laudable?
PoliticsRe: Bokkos Massacre: The Buck Stops At The President’s Desk by Dougad: 9:17am On Apr 15, 2025
That Tinubu—the erudite scholar and sophisticated genius—even had the gall to demand action from the plateau state governor, knowing fully well that he lacks the constitutional power to enact any meaningful policy to stop these killings, only shows that the suffering of the plateau people is still at the "Scene 1" stage of the play.
PoliticsRe: Tinubu reacts to Plateau attacks, demands permanent solutions to crisis by Dougad: 7:54am On Apr 15, 2025
Performative outrage. Since when is the governor of a state tasked with its security? That he asked the governor to take responsibility only shows that there will be be more killings.
BusinessRe: Nigerians Shift To Made-In-Nigeria Product As Imported Item Become Too Expensive by Dougad: 7:27am On Apr 15, 2025
My God! Going by the comments on this thread since the first page, Nigerians are wholly ignorant. Some of these fools don't only think the importation of finished goods is the "problem", but also the importation of the raw materials to produce home-made goods. I dare you to point me to any country that produces all the raw materials they use in crafting their goods.

Some of these fools also don't realize that without a significant rise in exports to increase our FX, which means that our so-called home-made goods need to meet certain standards to be competitive, Tinubu has just damned you all to perpetual poverty.

Not to even mention the high inflation that has made the costs of the home-made goods more expensive than ever before. There is a deep cancer, and all you are doing is prescribing pain killers for the metastatic pains , instead of a systemic treatment at large.
CrimeRe: Heartbreaking Pictures Of Plateau Killings by Dougad: 5:55pm On Apr 14, 2025
I've grown so weary of these pictures. The frequency of these stories, constantly gracing my screen, leaves me jaded and fatigued. Week in, week out, am I greeted with headlines of fathers and mothers slain on the street. Of children, with their lives ahead of them, brutally slaughtered by unknown bandits. What was their crime this time? Last week, it was because they dared to gather for a funeral. Perhaps this week, a wedding. Maybe next week, it'll be a birthday party.

Your initial comment carried the air of a subtle justification of this brutality around it. If I misinterpreted, I sincerely apologize. Also, my portrayal of what I deemed a lack of response from the displaced and disenfranchised victims of attacks from what is most likely a well-armed, organized and funded militia as an act of cowardice was unwise, likely originating from heightened emotions over what I perceived to be a justification of jungle justice. I have a lot of sympathy for the Benue people and no region is safe. But still, we need to do away with jungle justice for "petty" crimes, particularly in this climate where there are more grievous acts that call for such.

Creamypie:
that doesn't justify stealing from poor hustling man like him, and in this case, their only source of livelihood, and na north wey no dey give up chase if someone steal
No one justified petty crimes because of the existence of its more dangerous counterpart. That's a blatant distortion of the comment and you know it. What's being argued here is that the punishment should fit the crime. The disproportionate treatment of this thief pales in comparison to the endless moaning and huffed whimpering that have been thrown at the marauders invading their lands for years. And it only broadcasts their cowardice to the world.
CrimeRe: Angry Mob Set Motorcycle Snatcher On Fire In Makurdi (graphic Photos) by Dougad:
All this anger and vitriol for an unarmed thief and nothing for herdsmen and bandits that have killed thousands of your people for years and still continue to to this day.
