Long post!!! (pls shorten post if you want to reply)

Been a silent reader, can’t thank you all enough for your selfless work, it really helped me. I‘m adopting ogidigan’s method because I think dropping a profile is important. I was desperate for peoples profiles to know if their circumstance was similar to mine.

1st time applicant (though I have an EE profile). 30 year old married (separated) female, self sponsored, living and working in the UK & Nigerian nationality. I studied computing in bsc & msc and I build business software so this is a logical progression- I explained this & that I wanted a promotion in my LOE as reason for study.

VAC: London
Upfront med: Oct 2022
Application submission: 9 Dec 2022
Biometrics: 19 Dec 2022
Medicals passed: 9 Feb 2023
PPR: 3 Feb 2023
Sent passport: 6 Feb 2023
Received passport: 15 Feb 2023
Session: Aug 2023

GC key portal
Education gap: 6 years
Program: MBA
Duration: 16 months
POF1: 4 months bank statement showing 12 months tuition (rather than my total tuition, so just 80%)
Source: Salary (Didn’t touch salary during the 4 months I needed for bank statement).
Source evidence: Showed 1 months payslip and job confirmation letter.
POF2: GIC certificate of 10k CAD for one year maintenance.
POF3: scholarship of 40k CAD (50% off my tuition)
POF4: Deposit of 5k CAD (uni refused me paying any tuition until enrolment)

Proof of Ties:
Showed ties to Nigeria by mentioning my parents in Nigeria. Showed ties to UK with my residence permit, wedding certificate to husband (Brit), my registered company & tax documents, my property documents. Obviously not traveling with hubby so I used he and my sister that lives with me as ties. Also Mentioned how the average earning of my field in Canada is less than Uk so I’ll be inclined to return to the Uk (lol I don’t plan to).

Travel history : 9 European countries
Rejections: 1 US visa in 2016 (due to my stupidity lol, I didn’t know what “residence” meant)

Docs submitted:
- POF
- LOE (with UK residence permit, registry marriage cert, Ielts result (optional), Change of name affidavit, degree certs, professional certifications, resume (I couldn’t fit it in the IMM doc). In my LOE, i wrote an explanation for proof of fund, proof of ties, reason for study (this is extremely important as it’s the 3 things you’re marked on).
- The IMMs that applied to me.
- Visa stamps on current intl passport.
- screenshot of email from Uni confirming they didn’t want any instalment towards my tuition.
- Upfront med cert
- Letter for internship (coop work permit)
- Conditional Offer letter (they were waiting for my transcripts)

Awesome! Congratulations! What school?

But the person didn't submit biometrics or medicals is this the first application?

The person did not need medicals because they’ve been in Canada for the past 6 months.

Good morning nairalanders, I want to study data science (Masters) but the issue is that most the universities I searched online offer the course for nine months (approx 1 year) which means 1 year PGWP. I need help on schools that offer the course for 2 years to so as to enable me for 3 years PGWP.

Try Trent University

Hi everyone,

Has anyone on this forum ever used Prodigy Finance to fund their study in Canada ? How did the study permit process go? Do you know if one can use the conditional loan offer letter provided by Prodigy Finance as POF? Thank you!

Hello Nairalanders,

I join my faith in prayers with everyone who is still waiting ( my hubby inclusive), praying and fasting for an approval for our visas.
Heavenly father i put you in remembrance regarding your word in Mathew 17 vs 20. ''Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

I command the heavens of the blessings of our awaited testimony be opened.
Dear Lord, let your mercy and grace prevail over our applications In Jesus Mighty name.

Amen.

Have a week filled with blessings and testimony.

goingforward.

Hello, trust you're doing great.

@Doyenrey

I think this can be of assistance to you. A decision has already been made before your withdrawal application is being processed. I think they will rather tag your application as "it cannot be withdrawn" when they want to process your withdrawal request.

Be hopeful and continue to give God thanks.

Thank You.

Thanks a lot. Got it

Hi Nairalanders,

Still waiting for my hubby's approval. It will end in praises and thanksgiving in Jesus name.
However, we got an update yesterday for Medical passed for all of us meanwhile passport is already with the Visa office. cheesy cheesy cheesy grin grin grin.

Please, I want to ask, does anyone have an idea how to go about getting an International Drivers license in Nigeria?
Is it okay to land Canada on a weekend? say Saturday or Sunday. For people that have landed, was it better landing on weekday or a weekend?. I have plenty load. smiley

Thanks in advance.

I got the same update yesterday. When do you think we would get our passports? Our eligibility reveiw also started the same day. 7th Sept. Lol

I pray your husband gets his approval soon.

@doyenrey didn't write for withdrawal of his application from CIC but to Concordia University as the deadline given to him was Sept 17th. What he did actually was deferral of admission to next year.
@kayvine4u

I actually wrote to CIC to withdraw my application after I deferred. I just hope it won't cause any problem now that I've submitted my passport.

I believe there are exceptions to the rule. For example, if your program of study is 2 years, and your passport validity is 1.5 years, you cannot ordinarily renew your passport unless it is remaining 6 months or less to expire. Under such circumstances, I think I have heard that they may give you 1.5 years visa per the validity of your passport. If your passport validity is less than 6 months, the rule as stated by you may be applied since you can renew your passport and save everyone stress in the near future.

For USA visit visa, the visa validity can go beyond the passport validity. Upon expiry, you can travel with the old expired passport with valid visa as well as the renewed passport.

Exactly my point

Lol for real?

But you know you have to have a validity of 6 months or less to be able to renew your passport?

Morning everyone

Please, is it okay to change DLI before arriving Canada Or it will cause problems at the POE
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by Doyenrey: 1:15pm On Sep 17, 2018
Applied Online June 29th

Biometrics July 3rd

Submitted

All IMM forms

Pay stubs, employment letter, bank statement of sponsor (my brother who is a Canadian citizen) about 50k CAD balance

Quebec's certificate of acceptance

Admission letter, graduate diploma Biotechnology and Genomics, Concordia

I discovered that I mistakenly failed to declare my previous US refusal and did not complete the family info form, so I had to send several CSE to report these errors.

I sent my transcript, 4.79/5.0 Biochemistry, mum's landed property doc, upfront medical sheet via Webform.

I finished my BSc this year.

I fasted and prayed. Lol

I applied to withdraw my application on Friday 14th Sept.

Passport request today!!

Thank God.

No! Don't renew your passport before submitting. When you've finally received your stamped visa passport, you can then renew it. Make sure while travelling to Canada you take along with you the expired/old passport and the new/renewed one. At POE you will be asked to present the expired travel document containing the valid Canadian visa together with the new/renewed travel document lacking a Canadian visa. The immigration officer at POE will issue you a study permit on your new acquired passport.

Congratulations on your achievement.

Alright. Thank you
