HeadNigga:You lie..APC of which Sir Paul Chukwuma is the undisputed Guber candidate is the major opposition to Soludo as of today. LP you mentioned are fragmented and not even a force to reckon with. Many people from diverse political parties decided to give LP a chance due to Peter Obi who was on the ballot in the last presidential election but right now, it's to your tents o' Israel.

Chief Sir Paul Chukwuma is taking over from him in the next electoral cycle. Anambrarians has agreed that Sir Paul is the right man for the job.

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/3PzPuAhRiEG9P65d/?mibextid=xfxF2i Breaking News! *Association of Persons Living with Sickle Cell Disorder (APLSCD) Accuses Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah of Bad Faith* *~ Demands Restitution* (By Comr. Chris McCool Nwosu) The Association of Persons Living with Sickle Cell Disorder (APLSCD) has accused Sen. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, the Senator representing Anambra South in the Red Chamber, of attempting to shortchange its vulnerable members, after using them to advance his political course on his way to winning to the Anambra South Senate seat in 2019. At the heart of the brewing disagreement is what the Association alleged to be 'very poor and gross under-execution' of a purported 'National Centre for Sickle Cell Anaemia Research and Treatment' attracted for the treatment of her suffering members by Sen. Ubah as a constituency project from the federal pool. According to APLSCD Coordinator, Mrs. Aisha Edward-Maduagwu, Sen. Ubah had promised to ameliorate their plight by building a massive hospital and research center that will exclusively cater for the treatment and welfare of their vulnerable members. And further charged the Association to source land to house the planned project, which he was said to have assured will be massive. Sen. Ubah made the promise before the traditional ruler of Agulu, H.R.H. Igwe Innocent Obodoakor and other stakeholders and people of the community when he came to commission APLSCD's first Sickle Cell Orphanage and Underprivileged Home in Agulu, following his apt observation that 'we deserve a bigger place'. The evidently unhappy Coordinator further disclosed that it was based on the said promise that she sought and had four (4) plots of land donated by a segment of Nanka Community to her Association free of charge to house the promised 'massive project'. This writer is in possession of video evidence of the handover of the said parcel of land to APLSCD by Nanka Community representatives led by Chief Ezeobi Emmanuel. Which the Association, through its Coordinator, Mrs. Maduagwu, subsequently formally handed over to Sen. Ubah through his representative, Late Mr. Joe Mohel Ezenwegbu vide a letter on APLSCD letter-headed paper in the same video. Before then, Mrs. Maduagwu said everything looked real at first as the Senator collaborated with her Association to evolve a Bill for the Establishment of Resource Centre for National Center for Sickle Cell Anaemia Research and Treatment, Aguata (for which land was eventually obtained in Nanka, Orumba North) which he said he proposed before the Senate. She said her members were very happy when Sen. Ubah subsequently disclosed (on video) while addressing APLSCD members at a function that the federal government has recognized and gazetted the Association as a body of vulnerable persons living with sickle cell disorder and has, as a result, approved the building of the treatment centre earlier proposed. "While all these were going on, although APLSCD is non partisan by nature, at the behest of Sen. Ubah, the Association was inadvertently lured into effectively participating in the electioneering campaign that saw him win the Anambra South Senate seat in 2019 because we were excited by his promise to build a massive hospital for us. He kept emphasizing the word 'massive'; which was why four (4) plots was made available to house the project by the donors of the land." According to Mrs. Maduagwu, it was the size of the foundation situated right in the middle of the project site that sparked initial suspicion over Sen. Ubah's sincerity of purpose. The foundation was too small to even serve as a gate or security house for the supposedly massive facility that Sen. Ubah promised them and the Nanka Community. And the fact that the foundation was placed in the middle of the site meant it could well be the real deal. She said it was at that point that despair first struck both members of APLSCD and keen observers in the host community, even as they continued to pray that their assumption wouldn't be the case. But, alas, it was. In the exact words of Mrs. Maduagwu and some sub-Coordinators of APLSCD in different videos in this writer's possession, "the 3-room structure built in the name of the 'massive hospital' that Sen. Ubah earlier promised them could barely pass for a Boys Quarter (BQ). To make matters worse, it was just an empty structure with zero equipment. And all the appurtenances like water (borehole), light (the building is yet to be wired), etc that ought to be available even in a health center were all absent. The fence work is not just too low but has not been capped. While the entire compound, including tree trunks felled to make way for the structure, have not been cleared." "You can therefore imagine our disappointment when Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah's media went to town at the peak of his 2023 reelection campaign with the news that the supposedly 'Resource Centre for National Center for Sickle Cell Anaemia and Treatment' attracted by the Senator (for which N50 million was voted by the awarding and supervising federal ministry) have been completed. "As if that was not enough shock, while we were still complaining to him that the structure cannot be the 'massive hospital' he promised us, Sen. Ubah was unperturbed. Instead, he tried very hard on phone to cajole me into making a video in which, according to him, I should thank the Hon. Minister of Science and Technology for the hospital his ministry built for us through him (Sen. Ubah). He said I should forward the video to him for transmission to the minister as a strategy to spur him to do more." *Mrs. Maduagwu further disclosed that at the point that Sen. Ubah was trying to convince her to do the 'thank you' video to the Minister, he had no inkling that her Association had discovered that N10 million out of the N50 million voted for the project was supposedly paid out in lieu of the land housing the project. Which to the contrary, was given to the Association by a segment of Nanka Community free of charge. And which it (APLSCD) also handed over to Sen. Ubah at zero cost. Continuing, Mrs. Maduagwu said it was that shocking finding that confirmed the suspicion and fears of APLSCD that so much high-handedness must have taken place at the execution stages to reduce the supposed massive hospital to the BQ that was eventually delivered; which the Senator is trying to coarse the Association to accept.* Mrs. Maduagwu said it was on the basis of that unpalatable finding and the refusal of the Senator or his representatives to make the plan of the building erected available to enable the Association confirm that the project was executed to specification that resulted to the lingering stalemate that has ensued between APLSCD and the Senator over formal handover of the project till date. She regretted that instead of sincerely seeking ways to resolve the lingering disagreement, Sen. Ubah has been threatening to hand over the BQ-like structure to whoever he wishes if APLSCD refuses to accept it as it is. Adding that true to the Senator's position, some of his aides and party men (one of who is late) who have liaised with them at one point or the other on Sen. Ubah's behalf, have/had their eyes in hijacking the building for personal use. Most heart-rending is the disclosure by Mrs. Maduagwu that her Association has lost and buried 18 members over the period whose lives could have been saved or prolonged had Sen. Ubah lived up to his promise to contribute to ameliorating the plight of vulnerable members of APLSCD. "On behalf of my vulnerable members therefore, I humbly and passionately appeal to all men and women of goodwill, the clergy, traditional rulers, the media, CSOs, the leadership of the National Assembly and particularly the National Leadership of Sen. Ubah's party, the APC, as well as whoever has the ears of the Senator, to impress on him the need to reverse his steps and do the needful ~ which is to complete the project according to specification and thereafter hand it over to those it is originally meant for, APLSCD. "God bless you as you intervene", Mrs. Aisha Edwards Maduagwu concluded almost in tears. For further clarification and/or intervention, Mrs. Edwards Maduagwu can be reached @ 08033222007. *NB:* At the time of posting, this writer was unable to reach Sen. Ubah for his reaction. He has however tagged Sen. Ubah's Head of Media so he could exercise the Senator's right of reply. |
All sickle cell individuals out there should remain resolute in their demands for government intervention and support towards leading a meaningful productive lives. |
