FamilyWhy Are Our Government Officials Like This? Photos by Dozzywest(op): 7:55am On Oct 10, 2021
I'm so livid right now having to see this on my gate. Went to my village this weekend only to be confronted with this boldly inscription with chalk, maybe from local health officials or the population commission. But this is all shade of wrong for government officials going about defacing people's property. The Nigerian economy is hard now, these people should stop adding to our problems.

Foreign AffairsThe Moment When President Bush Was Informed About 9/11 Terrorist Attack 2001 by Dozzywest(op): 2:35am On Sep 13, 2021
Then-President Geory W. Bush was visiting Sarasota, just about seven months into his presidency, when he found out what was happening.

Bush was on his way to Emma E. Booker Elementary School when the first plane crashed at the World Trade Center in New York City.

The president was sitting in Room 301, a second-grade classroom at the school, reading with students when his chief of staff told him about the second crash.

“A second plane has hit the second tower,” Andrew Card whispered to him. “ America is under attack.”

Bush reacted to the news with a look of shock, and said a week later in a news conference according to History.com, “I'm sitting in the midst of a classroom with little kids, listening to a children's story and I realized I'm the commander in chief and the country has just come under attack.”

PoliticsPeter Obi Celebrates 60th Birthday With Persons Living With Sickle Cell Disorder by Dozzywest(op): 1:23pm On Jul 20, 2021
AN ADDRESS PRESENTED BY THE NATIONAL COORDINATOR OF THE ASSOCIATION OF PEOPLE LIVING WITH SICKLE CELL DISORDER ON THE FIRST OFFICIAL VISIT BY HIS EXCELLENCY MR PETER OBI TO THE SICKLE CELL ORPHANAGE AND UNDERPRIVILEGED HOME AGULU ON JULY 19TH 2021.

H.E. Mr Peter Obi CON

Ladies and Gentlemen.

This is a great day for persons living with sickle cell disease, under the umbrella of the Association of People Living with Sickle Cell Disorder. Today we have in our midst, a distinguished personality, whose name continues to reckon with admiration, respect and honour, both local and international.

Mr Peter Obi, as we all knew, is a man of immense public acceptance in civility, humility, charity, and an accomplished public servant whose eight years in office as governor of Anambra State, emancipated the State from the doldrums, into an economic boom with all social machineries working smoothly for the common good.

Mr Peter Obi is celebrating his 60th birthday anniversary today, and has decided to bring this pleasant celebration down to persons living with sickle cell disease, a noble and remarkable way that reflects his humane personality, as being concerned towards the well-being of the underprivileged.

As a worthy ambassador of charity, Peter Obi has succeded in writing his name in the book of life by imbibing the biblical admonition for wealthy men to always help the needy amongst them. The Association is quite optimistic that this visit by H.E. Peter Obi, would not be the last, and that more would follow in due course. Okwute, as an illustrious son of Agulu, with the most towering political and financial might, has many looking up to him for direction and source of inspiration. He has neither ignored nor betrayed that faith which is repose in him. His vast and direct investment in education, has won the State both international and domestic accolades, and continued unabated even after leaving office. A great number of educational institutions even beyond Anambra State where fortunate enough to have received this magnanimous infrastructural funding, which has strengthened both academic and moral fabrics for an excellent productivities in building leaders of tommorow.

Sickle Cell sensitization is an important educational subject that must be spread in every academic environment. We implore H.E. Peter Obi, to support the Association in this direction vis-a-vis our school visitations and radio programs that has a wider reach, with young adults being among our targeted audience. These exercise has succeded in changing their ignorant perceptions about the dangers of genotype incompatible relationships. If we fail to educate them now, the society would tomorrow bear the brunt of our negligence and suffer harsh consequences. We have also committed ourselves in having a monthly medical interactive session in this home where patients come to be informed by specialist doctors on modern ways in sickle cell management. Routine medical tests are also carried out to detect any dormant ailment that might pose a threat to life in future. Free drugs, food items etc are later disbursed to members to cushion the effects of economic difficulties.

The Association is also seeking to build a sickle cell community center, where we can adequately harbour and care for indigent sickle cell patients especially the orphaned, without having to completely rely on any government for support at every turn. Our space in this present accommodation is insufficient, and we wish for a piece of land to build structures like clinic, school, living quarters etc.

Okwute nd'Igbo, you are indeed God answered prayers to the less fortunate, and your indelible footprints is an attestation to this humanitarian calling. We pledge our support towards your endeavors and in every step that you take in the cause of salvaging our society. May God continue to guide and protect you as you put smiles in the face of the helpless and needy. Our kind regards also goes to your amiable wife Margret, whom many describe's as an epitome of intelligence, elegance, and resourcefulness.

Happy birthday to you sir, and may your celebration continue to inspire and bring hope to many of us.

Yours Sincerely,

Aisha Edward Maduagwu

Well, those are not good enough.
Be more intentional with your diet if you want to put on weight.
Eating beans like 3times in a week might help you.
Unripe plantains pottage, yam pottage with leafy vegetables, for like 2times in a week will be good for you also.
You can include sweet potatoes or ripe plantains to your beans occasionally to make it more filling and delicious.
Eat more of vegetable soups with your swallow meals.

Include other foods like eggs, chicken/turkey, full cream milk, yogurts...
cooking, frying or roasting ripe plantain is hazardous to health because a ripe plantain is now a fruit and you don't cook fruits. It is advisable to eat them raw when ripened.

1/5/21

Ask any Nigerian worker about their state of income and financial security to support a standard of living, and watch them complain bitterly about how dangerously the economy has spiraled downwardly in recent times and how difficulty it is now to get their essential needs with dignity like food, basic shelter, clothing and hygiene. To many, it is a vain hope trying to secure the future, when their present is a jungle.

Every May 1st, ranking government officials come out like peacocks to mount a colourful podium and make fine speeches on how they intended to improve the standard of workers, and in the end they would return to their aloofness and unsympathetic proclivity towards workers welfares. Both public and private sector workers are groaning under hardships and how skewed their source of livelihoods has taken to the worst.

The current insecurity with its grappling effects on the economy, has seared a big hole through any alternate economic developmental plans these workers have going for them. Nobody can conveniently assure him or herself that safety is guaranteed, yet unbridled corruption from ranking officials seems not to abate, but monstrously challenging worker's willpower to survive and to continue contributing to the socioeconomic balance through their various job descriptions. “A school teacher who can no longer go to place of assignment due to the activities of bandits kidnapping people at will, and also cannot make it to farm because armed herdsmen are camped nearby,” is a perfect example of how precarious our societal empowering mechanisms has degenerated.

We expect to hear and see all the usual sweet talks and melodrama on the improvement of workers welfares before dusk today, but a quick reminder to both passive and active enablers of these hopeless tangles and predicaments, is that their will would not continue to supercede above the collective resolve of the populace. No and Never.

Happy Workers Day.

PoliticsAnambra State is Ready for Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah's Administration. by Dozzywest(op): 11:23am On Apr 27, 2021
27/4/21

..AND ANAOCHA STOOD STILL FOR SENATOR PATRICK IFEANYI UBAH.

The sight at Orjiakor primary school field Adazi-Nnukwu, was akin with that which beholds Palm Sunday.
It was April 26th, and the bright sun was elegantly sitting in the sky above and casting its warm radiance on the many beautifully decorated canopies and podium in the field. Anaocha Men, Women and Youth trooped out in their large numbers, each carrying some newly cut branches of green leaves, which symbolizes the fresh breath that would soon permeate into the ailing political and economic lungs of Anambra State. Senator Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Uba is in town within the Anaocha local government council, as part of his thank you visit and declaration tour to all the 21 local government councils, to announce his candidacy for the upcoming gubernatorial election. Bouts of chatters and laughters intermittently breaks forth among the groups gathered, as they ardently awaited to usher in the leader and savior whom is expected to rescue the State from the strong grip of a known cabal, which has strangulated the economy and bled our resources on frivolities.

Distinguished Sen Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah needs no introduction when it comes to pulling resources together for common good. At a time when a greater percentage of Anambra families who depended on kerosene for their domestic needs couldn't get the commodity due to scarcity unprecedented in our history, Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah, an oil mogul, brought in vessels laddened with the commodity, and commenced a statewide free delivery of the precious oil. The then Governor Peter Obi could not contain his joy and in some places, smiley partook in their distributions to citizens.

The narrative on Ubah's magnanimity is endless, and for want of space, a special focus would only be accorded on his roles in assisting people living with sickle cell disease, and sensitization. When the Association of People Living with Sickle Cell Disorder, couldn't adequately ferry her counsellors to cover some communities and groups in their stand against sickle cell ignorance, it was through Ubah's donation of a vehicle that made the journeys much easier, and the association was able to recorded successes. Sen Ubah also extended his support to equip a vocational and skill acquisition training center for members of the association. Sewing machines and other equipments has been handed over to persons living with sickle cell disease, who completed their training courses and can now deploy their knowledge into productivity and economic sustenance for themselves and their families. These set of people were hitherto forgotten, rejected and abandoned by a society and State government that continues to play politics with their welfares. Sen. Ubah's love for the underprivileged knew no bounds, sickle cell orphans and underprivileged are now heaving sighs of relief because he constantly stocks the sickle cell home Agulu with foodstuffs and other material items, where he recently donated a chest freezer. Construction works has began in earnest at the site for the National Center for sickle cell disease control and research Aguata, courtesy of Sen. Ubah who moved an appealing motion to that effect in the higher national assembly, where he represents the good people of Anambra South in the drive for economic recovery and development.

Even if I should exhaust my ink listing the many altruisms of this towering enigma, I would barely succeed at scratching the surface alone, but an unbiased and independent check by the able reader would help allay every doubts and cynicism about the sincerity of Sen. Ubah to provide Anambra State with the needed infrastructures to compete with other developed societies.

They said our people killed their cows and today we must pay with our lives. Like I told you earlier, they said we were agitating for Biafra and that we would see if that would save us; that Nnamdi Kanu was just making a noise. They also said any community in the South that a Fulani was attacked or their cows killed, after using security agencies that their people control to ensure that the cows were paid for, they would attack the community. They told us to go and tell the chairman of the local government council that the attack they carry out won’t go to the Internet, but the one we carry out would be uploaded on the Internet immediately.

Biafra
Nnamdi Kanu

*Igbos Are Powerless - Fulani Herdsmen*

_While killing our men, herdsmen boasted nothing would happen to them because their people head security agencies -Woman who survived Ebonyi killings_

Raphael Ede
5:51 am

Mrs Ngozi Odo-Abuchi is a graduate of the National Teachers’ Institute, who works in the Education Department of the Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. In this interview with RAPHAEL EDE, the 49-year-old widow who survived herdsmen’s attack on Obeagu community in the Ishielu LGA on Monday last week, explains her face-to-face encounter with death

*We learnt that you narrowly escaped the herdsmen’s attack on the Obeagu Road. How did it happen? Why did they spare your life?*

On Monday, while I was coming home from where I went to, I mounted an okada from their park at the Nkalagu junction to convey me to Obeagu, my hometown. The rider is from the same community but not the same village. We left Nkalagu around 5pm and from Nkalagu to Obeagu is between 30 and 45 minutes with a motorcycle. We passed our junction, Egedegede, and about half way into the town, we saw people wearing black attire and most of them were inside the bush. Because the okada rider was on top speed, he could not stop immediately after sighting those people. And because he was not suspecting anything, he continued.

Unfortunately, when we got to that point, those people swooped on us. We were trying to run, but we didn’t know they had surrounded the entire place and they grabbed us. They started beating us, dragged us into the bush so that nobody could easily see what they were doing from the road. They were hitting us with their machetes on the head and kicking us with their boots. They stabbed the motorcyclist in the stomach and slit his throat. That was how they killed all the men; some of the attackers cut the men’s noses and hands after killing them.

*When you got to the Egedegede junction, did you not see the vehicles and motorcycles that were burnt along the road?*

They had not done that. It appeared that they started the killing on the road leading to the community. We were the first they stopped and the okada man conveying us was the first person they killed. As other motorcyclists were coming, they continued killing them, while the females were being tortured. After the beating, they would drag them inside the bush and ask them to lie down. They killed all the okada riders, but the women they didn’t kill, but beat us so mercilessly.

*Why did they spare all the women and none was killed?*
One of them, while they were killing the men, drew his dagger to stab me. Then I was seriously praying and remembering God’s promises to those who entrusted their lives to him. Suddenly, one of their leaders shouted at him: ‘Do not touch the women, they will go and tell their people that this is the consequences of daring to chase Fulani herdsmen out of their community. They will take our message to Nnamdi Kanu that he is doing his Biafra and that he and his IPOB cannot stop us from operating anywhere in the South-East or even South-South. All the heads of security agencies are our people. If they attack any Fulani man in any state, the government security agencies being controlled by our people will go after them, while we will come for reprisal. Tell Nnamdi Kanu of IPOB that he can continue to rant on social media, while we do what we know best.’

*What is your experience like in the hands of the herdsmen?*

What I saw that evening is better imagined. It was very horrific, but thank God for sparing my life. God is very merciful to me. I was calling the name of Jesus Christ to intervene and save us. While I was praying, I was also quoting the Bible, remembering his promises to those who believe and trust in him. So, as I was praying, one of them said I shouldn’t pray again and close my mouth, but I kept on praying and they kept beating me. One of them raised a dagger to kill me before another one shouted at him to stop and not to kill her or any of the women. There was nothing they didn’t use to torture us; they hit us with machetes; they kicked us with boots and marched upon us.

*How long did the operation last?*
I don’t know, but I know it started around 6pm and we were there till darkness covered us. After killing people, they started burning motorcycles. So, their attack at that location could have lasted about two to three hours or more, but I can’t be exact, because they collected all our belongings – phones, money and every valuable item, including handbags.

*Then, how did you manage to come out alive?*

It was a miracle of God really. After they had killed all the men, they gathered some motorcycles and were burning them. At that point, I discovered that they were not close to us and we all ran inside the bush and while we were running, we continued to hide behind trees and the darkness of the night covered us. So, we slept inside the bush until the following morning. In the morning, two of us who ran and hid in the same place trekked back to the scene to see if our belongings were left and some villagers saw us and took us home.

*How many were the attackers?*
They were many; more than 20. I couldn’t have counted them because some of them were on the road; some were staying with us and beating us, while some were going up and down. Probably, those ones were on surveillance looking for more people and ensuring that they were not repelled. Meanwhile, all of them were bearing AK-47 rifles with double magazines.

*Do you know who the assailants were?*
They were Fulani men. In short, they told us that they were Fulani; that they came to show us that since our people pursued them out of our community, they wanted to give us a parting gift.

*Is your community having problems with herdsmen?*
Yes. They used to take their cows into our farms and destroy crops. They harvest yams and cassava and use them to feed their cows; when our people complained, they would tell us that it wasn’t their cows that destroyed the crops. So, this year, our people asked them to leave our community so that we could return to the farm. You drove to this place, from that Egedegede junction to this town is about 15 kilometres and I am sure you didn’t see any side of the road that was cultivated and that is because when we cultivate, the herdsmen will bring their cows and destroy it.
Our land is lying fallow, while hunger is killing people, because they can’t go to farm. So, our people said since you could not cohabit with us in peace, it was better you relocate to another place. So, after that, a few weeks ago, the people they occupied their land now drove them out.

*What did they tell you was the reason they came to kill your people?*

*What language were they speaking?*
They spoke Pidgin English and their language. They spoke their language when talking among themselves. But the Pidgin English was the language they were speaking mainly, probably because they wanted us to hear them. Looking at the way they carried out the killings, they looked like well-trained soldiers.

*Did you have a premonition of the incident?*
Yes. I had a revelation of this incident but it was about a month now. I saw it happened to me and since then, I had been praying against it until it was made manifest on that Monday. Before, I was watching on the television how people were being slaughtered, but it was during the attack that I saw it with my eyes. It is only the grace of God that I survived the attack. It is callous, inhuman and atrocious.

*Since the incident happened, have the police or any other security agency or government officials visited you to ask you how it happened?*
None of those you mentioned has visited me. It is only some community members and my relations who are coming to check on me and ask how it happened.
