I just ran your site through alexa and I see that you are at 2m web rank... Well, that is interesting... Your posts make sense, but I don't really know what your website is all about...

I see your website talking about employment, graduates and some facts about life, but the name is called topwritersden which makes me think that it is a website that brings writers together, but the posts state otherwise...

I don't know what your reason for blogging is, where you see your blog in the next 2 years or what you hope to achieve with your blog. But I think it is time you really focus on creating an impact with your blog and best of all making real money from it...

I am not biafrabushboy cheesy

He is a friend, so I use his posts to create topics on Nairaland, to get to front page.

Nothing else.

Romance / My Dirty Secret With My Landlord’s Family (my Sexual Story) by Dpredictor(m): 2:50pm On Aug 17, 2017
I live in a compound of 5 tenants minus the landlord and his family. My landlady is a half-caste; I heard her mother is an American but the woman married a Nigerian man. She is this voluptuous average bodied woman with a nice set of racks. She has 1 boy and 3 girls. All are grown. This woman seems to be the heart of our problem in the compound. Her husband is a cool man who overlooks simple things but this woman will fight for everything to make sure everyone understands that it is her compound. Everything…..water, parking space, light bill, etc.

I never really found myself in such a situation with her cos I always tried to keep to myself. And she’s got pretty daughters that benefitted generously of her body type but I do not talk to them other than the regular greetings. Though I know that they like greeting me, after all, I’m a young guy living in their compound but I seem not to want to be chatty with them. I like two of the daughters especially the eldest who’s a couple of years older than I am, then the last daughter as well. I know they like me too cos I’ve seen their glances and the way they linger around when they greet me or come to my house for something, hoping we might strike a conversation. One day, I parked my car in the landlady’s parking spot and traveled cos it came up suddenly. I was away for 5 days before I went back home. I just got back that afternoon and met an empty and quiet compound. I put on the tv, took off my clothes and was about to hit the shower when a knock on the door redirected my route. I opened it and saw the last person I expected to see…… (you guessed right),

Career / Dear Graduates, What Are Your Future Plans? by Dpredictor(m): 2:16pm On Aug 17, 2017
What the plans for the future? let ask again. Do you remember the question “Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years” that you felt Human Resource Managers ask just to destabilize us during job interviews? Please listen, it isn’t just that.

I understand that 5 years is too small in this country to make any meaningful impact in the life of any graduate.

I understand that 5 years in this country could mean working for 10 different organizations – no time to settle and carve out a career path.

I know that 5 years might mean searching for a job for four years, only to use the remaining one year to start building up savings. I.e. if they even allow us last in the job without a sack or retrenchment letter on our desk.

I understand all these, but my question still stands; “what are your plans for the future”

Before you start mentioning “buying a new house, riding an expensive car, marrying the princess of England and others,” I want you to understand that plans are totally different from visions, aspirations and projections.

I might not have the liberty of explaining all these in details just for you, but you can go ahead to make some research and note down the difference between all of them.

Let me come down a little bit for those who might have gotten lost along the line. My question is “What are you doing or thinking of doing that will give you the freedom to ride an expensive car, marry a beautiful wife, travel around the world in style, and finally become a big name in your town or country”

Vision is the end product of the plans that are being put in place. Plans are the means to achieve your visions.

Dear graduate, you remember as a kid when they told us that “our beautiful future lies in our hands?”

I never understood the meaning till now, till I ended up telling my From Jobless Graduate to Plenty Job Offers . I am pretty sure that most of us don’t either. In simple terms, they meant that “our future is only dependent on what we create and how we create it”. This simply means that right now, our future is still blank, waiting for us to create it before walking into it.

Let me not digress further; you are probably done with your university education without a job, still in the university, or a young working graduate. The question still remains “What are the plans for your future?”

The odds might be against you now; but what are you doing to make sure that sooner or later that the odds favor you.

The future is in your hands!

What plans are you making to succeed? What skills are you acquiring to become the next big thing? What are the sacrifices you are putting in place to make sure that you have a bountiful harvest?

Several times I see young people without skills take up low paying jobs, making a ‘sacrifice’ of living within their means monthly as they pray for something better to come their way. The painful truth is that saving your monthly stipends will get you nowhere. You need extra sources of income – only rendering services through a skill acquired can give you that liberty.

What skills do you have? What skills are you acquiring? What plans are you making for your future?

I know you love your current job so much, or maybe you don’t. If there are no concrete plans for the future, the advancements in life are going to hit you and sweep you off like a tornado.

Now you know all these, what plans are you making to succeed?

Jobs/Vacancies / Top 5 Skills In Nigeria That Gets You Hired in 2017 by Dpredictor(m): 3:01pm On Jun 30, 2017
It is no longer news that racking up skills is one of the surest ways to get jobs this 2017 in Nigeria. If you have read my letter “http://topwritersden.com/open-letter-of-a-working-graduate-to-his-jobless-past/”, you would have a clue of the message I am trying to pass across. For every advertised job in Nigeria, there are thousands of job seekers that apply for the specific vacancy which only the talented would get[in most cases]. Unfortunately, there are lots of skills to learn; but not all of them can get you hired easily. These top 5 skills in Nigeria according to opinion is based on the amount of job searches that are related to them. In this article, I will list out the top 5 skills in Nigeria below.

IT SKILLS

This is among the top 5 skills in Nigeria, and it wouldn’t come as a surprise to many, but the surprise here is that not every IT skill is actually a hot skill in Nigeria. There are some IT skills that are considered drab skills; it means are not always needed and no much vacancy advert from them. So the hot skills under the IT sector include;

Programming:

Your ability to write codes using various programming languages like Python, C#, Java and a host of them to create wonderful exciting pieces of stuff like websites and computer software. This is one of the leading IT skills in 2017 because of its complexity, thereby creating a huge gap in the supply level of programmers. Once you acquire this skill, you can either work as a tutor or get picked up by a top level firm.

Graphics Design

Your ability to create exciting designs will easily help you locate jobs in so many firms. Most firms are no longer willing to outsource this service out, making them employ graphics designers in numbers. Having this skill can either allow you work from home, work as a tutor in an IT school or work for an organization that needs your services.

Digital Marketing

The competition among firms has forced them to take most of their marketing campaigns online. Due to this new development, they are being forced to hire digital Marketers who will lead them through this campaign. Having this skill as a Job seeker guarantees you a job no doubt. Even without guarantee, your chances of getting something doing are on the high side.

Other Notable IT skills include;

Marketing Skills

Due to the competition for a larger customer base, it has made the marketing job to be ranked among the top 5 skills in Nigeria right now in th job market.

NOTE: I won’t advise you to work as a marketing slave to some firms.

According to research, about 40% of daily job adverts has something to do with marketing. Getting this skill is something you would really love to have as an ace in your chambers. Your ability to show the recruiter that you can sell, and bring businesses to the company is a really something that most firms need now. It also opens up your chances of getting that job. The opinion that marketers work only on a commission basis is totally false. Marketing executives and Business Development officers earn cool and super amounts depending on your ability.

Communication/Presentation skills

This is among the top 5 skills that can earn you a job. You must be someone who is outspoken and can be able to deliver messages precisely and clearly. A lot of consultancies, broadcasting, and advertising firms are on the lookout for people with such abilities. You can either write a detailed letter of introduction about yourself and what you can do, forward it to broadcasting houses and other related firms. Make sure your press them for feedback and most importantly, don’t ever give up.

Writing/Editing and Proofreading Skills

Due to the increase of blog and websites, a lot of firms are employing those who can create super contents for them on daily basis. Even most of us with full-time jobs are taking up such jobs as a side hustle. I believe that once you possess this skill, you can be able to gain employment for yourself with ease. For every blog and website you see, there is a content creator for them all. All you need do is to write a sales pitch to the owner of the site and wait for feedback. You can learn how to write a sales pitch. http://topwritersden.com/how-to-write-a-good-sales-pitch-letter/

Customer service skills

If you can show a firm that you can help convert leads to customers, convert buying customers to long-term customers, then there are jobs waiting for you to possess. This difference between this skill and others is that you must have a certificate to back up your claims. There are lots of firms that offer certification training for customer service jobs, but only a few are genuine. You can do well to make an overall research about them and choose the one that is best for you.

Remember, have to a skill you wish to build your career into; or the ones that can be combined in other to complement each other. Add other ideas using the comment section.

Jobs/Vacancies / After 3 Years Of Job Search, See What Happened In My Life by Dpredictor(m): 11:21am On Jun 08, 2017
I graduated in 2013 and served Nigeria in 2014. I knew I didn't spend my money learning any of those things and skills in camp. I thought I just wanted to be an accountant. The first year passed, the second year passed, and the third year was speedily passing. I traveled from one state to another just to know if I could get a job. All the jobs I got was paying below 20,000 naira and that wasn't what I wanted for myself.

A friend advised me t come to Lagos and stay with him at Gbagada. I obeyed and finally came here. I read a post on FP on how to use churches as a means of getting jobs. I started going to church and I became very active in my church. It was a big church, and I made my presence felt.

After a while, a popular IT firm came a partnered with our church just to train some youths on ICT. Being so active, I was selected to be among the 10 youths they selected to learn web design and web development. Towards the ending of my training, I got an Invite from a firm I never applied for, asking me to come for an interview for the job of a Web Development Intern.

I wasn't even asked for my B.sc. I was only asked some technical questions which I answered with ease and also showed the practical aspect of it.

Just few months back, I was asked to start my job and as an Intern for 6 months, I was placed on a salary of 60,000 Naira. After 6 months like my contract said, "Your salary will be reviewed and it will be in line with the industry's standard." I later got to know that the IT firm was responsible for my placement.

I wanted to share this testimony since, but I decided to wait so as to collect my second month salary, make e no be say na April fool dem do me. cheesy

To God be the glory who made all things work for me. God bless Nairaland and all reasonable contributors in this forum.

God bless lalasticlala and seun wink

I would have uploaded my pay cheque as a proof, but it will look somehow... I no fit shout.

If there is something true, I think the ICT part is true.

I remember searching for a job for over two years. After I struggled and paid for a course (I won't mention the name), two months after I got a job.

It is not related to what I learnt but I believe it gave me an edge!

Hey bro. A lot of people scale through via self study. Nothing strange about that. In fact, i encourage self study. Most of these study centers are trash and i have paid for some myself. I always end up leaving the centers because i can't take them teaching me trash that i can learn better on my own.

Bro... if you are not into programming or Design or Development, you need a tutor!!

Networking is not a Child's play.

You don't perform excellently via Self-Tutoring

Where do you work with your Networking skills??

a lot of people have scaled through via sef study. I think its about the dedication and the kind of materials you get. No doubt its not gonna come easy unlike going to an IT centre.

Let's assume you wana learn CCNA, how are you gonna learn how to configure the various devices?

Or you just read it and then wait till you get a job??

lol...

your choice bro... #Peace

I have interest in computer networking, but every time i visit the programming or computer section of Nairaland all i see is PROGRAMMERS.

I think computer networking needs a section of its own, where experts can help newbies like me on Cisco certifications and other ICT certifications. I'm sure we have even CCIEs on nairaland

What do you people think?

what do you wana know?
Career / Re: Having Difficulty With MCSA 70-410, Pls Help! by Dpredictor(m): 6:40pm On May 13, 2017
Qudbell:
its self study actually. the amount IT centers charge is very exorbitant. which IT centre btw?

I wonder how you guys wana learn most of these complex things online and expect to put it into practice in a big firm practically.

Invest in being tutored, gain the theoretical, practical aspect of it all.

Anyone who told you ThT you can learn networking tutoring yourself is a liar.

I recommend IIHT tho. I learnt CCNA there and I didn't regret it!!
Career / Re: Having Difficulty With MCSA 70-410, Pls Help! by Dpredictor(m): 6:22pm On May 13, 2017
Did you learn online?
If No, then your Faculty that taught you should be arrested!!
That is why I recommend just one IT center in the whole of Nigeria!!

Career / Re: Why Are Professional Courses Expensive? by Dpredictor(m): 12:08pm On Apr 26, 2017
iihtlagos:
smiley. I will explain

If you look at the educational sector in the country, you will realize that despite the amount we have spent just to gain a BS.C, we are not even guaranteed a job after schooling.
Some people decide to go for a masters, but currently the Master's cert is becoming just like a senior school certificate and it is getting saturated.

Companies hire professionals not those that "THINK" they know it. Taking a professional course in a booming job sector like the IT sector is just the best escape route out of unemployment

A professional course makes you a professional at something specific, while a degree only certifies that you went to school.

Keep a graduate of Computer science and keep a IT professional in Programming, who would you choose as your first choice?

Nice...

I am taking a free course on Web Design and Web Development. Even though I am on scholarship but the cost is quite high. That is the reason I want to know why professional courses in ICT especially are very expensive? sad
