jaszplus12: Oh, it was aired on national TV. Lots of comic series back then were on national TV so everyone had access, unless you didn't enjoy comedies... I was not old enough to even know that they were comedies. My brain at the time could only process cartoons like Super ted. |

SpaceX: naptu2 na old man, I can't recall watching the movie abi na series? Seems like a series. Just hearing about it for the first time. Did people have TV back in the 1970s that showed series or were they buying casettes that had the series in them? Seems the op must have come from a well to do family to know about the series back in the day. *** Just recalled that Nigeria was blessed during that era so much so that a dollar was going for less than a naira. It's sad to see how far we have fallen. |

Konquest: Your perspective here about elevated testosterone and violent environments is insightful BUT remember that the advanced Scandinavian countries of the North of Europe are listed among countries with the highest testosterone levels. That's something to ponder about. An outlier perhaps. Research is never perfect because of the noise |

TONYE001: I believe one of the functions of a celebrity is to mentor people/followers, exhibiting positive and healthy life values.
Sadly, many celebrities do the exact opposite. The most frequent, I observe, is this need to project a fake life, making oneself to appear wealthy, influential, and all that. This reeks of "poverty mentality" and insecurity. If not, why must an individual go to any extent just to appear rich? We've read time and again of stories where celebrities rent stuff (exotic cars, buildings, etc) and claim it's theirs. Just why? I don't understand why celebrities are pressured into taking pictures with "their cars, private jects, mansions" and all that at the background.... I even see this in the lives of regular Nigerians. I've seen people whose first impulse upon entering an airplane is to take pictures to post on Facebook....some would post with some stupid motivational quote. But, of course, while in a taxi, motorbike, or danfo bus, hardly would we take similar pictures to post.
Why do celebrities feel that they must force themselves to appear rich? Just why?
Now, this lady has gone ahead to rent a Prado SUV she can't afford just to appear rich to her friends and followers. If she could afford it, why on God's earth would she fly outta Abuja without paying? Just why? Must she rent a Prado jeep? MUST SHE? If she must rent a car, must it be a Prado? MUST IT? Why not rent regular, cheaper vehicles?
People, do not be pressured by these fake lifers. We must rise above seeing money and material things as the only way to reaching satisfaction in life. Truly, there are more important things. WAY MORE IMPORTANT THINGS. We must learn to live within our means. Don't force wealth, don't hate yourself because of what you see on SM. Please, don't. Whatever you can make out of life, while you aspire for more, LIVE WITHIN YOUR MEANS and be grateful. With the little you make, you can achieve a whole lot (including giving to others)...it's just a matter of your choices.
Don't make acquiring wealth your priority in life. It shouldn't, honestly.
Some of our lifestyles may just chase away destiny helpers....giving them an impression that you are comfortable and, perhaps, even doing better than they are doing. Well said. This needs to be the message that our leaders, churches, media houses etc should propagate. So many ills in the society because of this Get Rich syndrome |

oalandAgents2: Why 😕 Because of my hypothesis that there may be a link between high testosterone and underdevelopment, violence and poverty. Don't you find it strange that not even one of the developed countries was listed as having high testosterone despite their high standards of living. All I am saying is that it is worth exploring. Let me do a quick literature search. Testosterone and Aggressive Behaviour in Man: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3693622/?utm_source=chatgpt.comTestosterone causes both prosocial and antisocial status-enhancing behaviors in human males: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5068300/?utm_source=chatgpt.comEnvironments marked by chronic deprivation, insecurity, collapsed social order, and exposure to violence (which we see in fragile states and neglected communities within countries) tend to produce young males who are biologically primed for dominance defence: higher testosterone reactivity, heightened threat response, lower trust.
That biology then feeds cycles of interpersonal violence, group conflict, and distrust. High distrust and normalised violence make it hard to build stable institutions, attract investment, keep doctors/teachers in the area, or run effective health systems — all of which are requirements for national development.Again, this all seems like a stretch but it is worth exploring and if found to be true, this calls for action |

oalandAgents2: Men are healthiest when their testosterone are high. It also enhances his ability impregnate his wife. I agree. There is a range. I don't want it to be below normal for obvious reasons but at the lower end of the normal range. |

I’ve learned to just take a deep breath before returning such calls.
Most times, I’ll even call my other siblings to know if she reached them and to be sure everyone’s fine.
She usually calls twice, but once it gets to the third call, I know my attention is needed. I’ll drop whatever I’m doing and pick up if my phone is close by. Seems we go through the same protocol. It's truly terrifying. |
