Sam Adeyemi and the Tithe

By Deji Yesufu

Last Sunday, 25th February 2018, Pastor Sam Adeyemi of the Daystar Churches in Lagos, joined the tithe debate. He said that no Christian was under a curse for not tithing. He said that tithing under the law was expired and no Christian should be made to feel guilty for not tithing today. His exact words:

“You are free to decide what to give. But if you sow sparingly you will reap sparingly. Tithing as practiced under the law has expired but tithing as a general principle cannot expire. A Christian is free to give any percentage of his money. But bear in mind that 10% is still part of the number. If somebody chooses to give 10%, he should not be condemned and if he gives less or more than that, he has a right to decide what to do.”

Sam Adeyemi reached this position by studying the subject of the tithe a little further, as a result of the recent debate that it has elicited in recent time; especially following Daddy Freeze’s campaign against tithing. The last piece of information reveals what many of us have long suspected about modern Pentecostal Pastors. Most of what many of them preach is passed on information from some other popular minister. Their convictions on salient matters of the gospel do not come from the study of scriptures and personal conviction. I believe that there is a lot more these ministers will learn, if they will look a little deeper into their Bibles.

Nonetheless, I must commend Sam Adeyemi for his candour and boldness. Very few ministers of his calibre will know what he has discovered and take a position in public on it. God bless him and may the Lord cause him to see more in the gospel than these. The mere fact of saying that Christians are not cursed for not tithing and that people have freedom to use their money the way they please is liberating.

But there is more...

For me personally, the question of tithing or not tithing brought about a personal reformation of my Christian beliefs. It led me to understand what is true and what is false. In a real way, your position on tithing will determine whether or not you will go to heaven.

I find it intriguing that as Sam Adeyemi gave his position on tithing, he resorted to discussing the New Testament and the core doctrine that come with it. He spoke of the abolishing of the law and the liberty of the Christian. I wonder if Mr. Adeyemi’s studies revealed to him what was the cause of these wonderful truths of the scriptures. If he did not see it, I will show him.

The Christian is free from the laws of Moses because of Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection. The living Jesus on earth was born of the Holy Spirit, thereby giving him no sinful nature like every other man on earth. In the process, our Lord fulfilled the law of Moses perfectly. The fact that Christ had no sinful nature did not prevent his being tempted. Christ was tempted but he did not sin.

Thus making him the blameless Lamb of God who could stand as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men. With this sacrifice, there was no need for the sacrifice of bulls and goats again; thus, bringing an end to a central practice of Moses’ law.

Therefore anyone who believes in Jesus, will have his sins forgiven and he would put on the perfect righteousness of the Son of God. Because of Jesus, the Christian is justified from all thing; and in Jesus, the Christian has perfect righteousness.

Thus, the law of Moses that led us to Christ, has lost its significance because Christ has fully fulfilled its requirements – through his life and his death.

So that when Jesus walked the earth, he was already beginning to give the Jews a picture of the New Covenant he was to enact. Jesus broke the Jews’ strict observance of the Sabbath and he never rebuked his disciples for doing the same. He was showing the Jews that in him, observance of the law was ebbing away.

After Jesus had departed to heaven, the first major conflict in the Church had to do with the position of whether or not to continue certain aspects of the law. In Acts 15, the Apostles agreed among themselves that Gentiles were not to be compelled to be circumcised to be saved. In other words, there was no place for a strict adherence to the laws of Moses in Christendom. What we have now is the law of Christian love and the demands of the Spirit in our hearts.

Through the centuries, Christians have debated different aspects of the law and their place in the Church. It is an enlightened minister indeed that knows the true place of the law in this dispensation of grace.

But the challenge with Sam Adeyemi new found position is that it is still not a thorough biblical position. To say that a “general principle of tithing” still exists today is to continue the old doctrine but in a new garb. Sam Adeyemi adds the biblical position of “he that sows sparingly will reap sparingly” to support this position.

In doing this, Mr. Adeyemi confirmed my fears that what is really at stake here is not the gospel or the matter of salvation, but the need for Christians to secure their finances. What Sam Adeyemi has posited is another means of securing the god of mammon that modern Charismatics worship.

At the heart of the Charismatic message is the good life: more money, no sickness, no curse, increase, breakthrough, abundance, open heavens, etc. The modern Charismatic message, which Sam Adeyemi himself preaches, secures the good life for Christians. So, while taking a sound biblical position on tithing, Sam Adeyemi succeeds in retaining the god of mammon in his message.

In 2 Corinthians 9, when Paul spoke of “he that gives sparingly will reap sparingly”, he was talking about tithing or a life of breakthrough. He was speaking to Christians and encouraging them to give to a worthy cause of providing support to some other Christians in need. There had been famine in Jerusalem and Paul was encouraging Gentile Christians to give toward the cause.

And to encourage them to give towards this cause, he made it clear that those who give sparingly will reap sparingly. The text did not have a big church, that amasses millions every Sunday in mind. It did not have giving to Pastors who themselves are already living large and ostentatiously lives in mind. That text had poor and needy Christians in mind.

Thus, my admonition to Sam Adeyemi and those who listen to him is to encourage them to return again to their Bibles and read it with an open heart. What God needs from us is not our money; what he needs is our heart. Let Mr. Adeyemi and other Charismatic Christians return to scriptures and renounce the god of mammon they worship, and return to follow the true Christ of the Bible.

Then will their giving make any sense. Then will they understand the place of giving to support Christian work. Then will they understand that the welfare of the poor and needy in our midst is the Bible’s priority when it calls Christians to take a collection each Sunday.

It is not all bad though. Just last week, Pastor Benny Hinn comes out to own up to preaching a prosperity gospel. Now it is Sam Adeyemi saying that Christians are not cursed for not tithing. More and more, these Pastors will find ears to hear what the Holy Spirit is saying to the churches. They will repent of their ways and find true Christianity and eternal life in the process.

I read through your writings and comments underneath it and was moved to make this points .

1 this message wasn't in isolation , this was the fourth message in a four path series and the take on tithing was the concluding part .

The series was about the principles of giving as a christian .

2 Tithing has expired under the law but the principle of tithing ( a form of giving ) - which doesnt have to be 10% of your income , but whatever percentage
your earth so desires - , is still very much in place . There is a blessing attached to being generous and there are consequences to being tight fisted . This is true for Christians , non - Christians or atheists .

please try to get the preceding parts of this message, this would aid better comprehension of this topic .

PontusPilate:
So the problem wasnt just d generals (anymore than it is wen we had Ph.D holder, and now a supposedly repented former general). The generals really delayed us as a country. To me, its quite a shame to see that most of them alive are still crucially relevant in the polity. They had their time. They had express, unbriddled power. They could do and undo (and to me they mostly chose to undo than do). They wasted extremely bright opportunities. And so were where we are now.
Now my friend @op. The way out.
I took all this time to show how we deliberately brought this recession on ourselves, demonstrate that we have since laid the foundation for a potential collapse of the young country. And so where we are is expected. TO COME OUT OF IT WILL NEED A DELIBERATE FULL REVERSAL OF THE TREND I DESCRIBED. AND WE MUST ENDURE THE PAINS FOR AS LONG AS (POSSIBLY LONGER THAN) IT TOOK TO CREATE THE PROBLEM. THAT'S AT LEAST FIFTY YEARS FROM NOW!
That's the truth Nigerians need to hear.
First, we need a wilful leader to start with. One person. I believe in one capable individual prepared to lead the necessary sacrifice than a group of mixed multitudes. A political party is only a vehicle for strange bed fellows. There will always be corrupt infiltrates no matter how holy they profess to be. Unfortunately in our current system u need some of the fellows to reach the position. But once there, its ur choice - to serve the fellows or to make a difference. Great societies have always started with leaders who chose the latter. History is awash with examples.
Jesus Christ gave up his own very life at 33 years! To save billions of people. Mahatma Ghandi of India, Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther Jr., Nelson Mandela, y'all know their stories. It is only when such leader arrives in Nigeria, who thru not just his body language but his choices, decisions, utterances, policies, instil discipline, fairness, justice, hardwork, meritocracy, patriotism in every follower from his wife in Abuja to the beggar in Lagos, that FULL REVERSAL and thus true change could start. Such leader MUST use all his power to dethrone tribe (yes its possible), and unite the country. A constitutional earthquake to expunge nepotic clauses that feed indigeneship, clauses that crown governors and presidents overlords and pharaohs (like immunity, state control of LGAs, etc), that create electoral and criminal justice loopholes, and several other provisions is long overdue. In fact, I recommend a consideration for a strong, more representative unicameral legislature, an overhauled digitized judicial system, a deliberate effort reduce monetization and attractiveness of government to lazy hands looking for cheap money.
This is only the beginning of the foundation.
Second, recall that the progress these men started vastly outlived them. Therefore whoever takes over from such leader must continue the repair. We MUST deliberately remove our eyes from our biggest seduction - oil. I recommend searching for resources wherever we can find them (oil in the North is a fantastic idea to me), but with the mentality that it is for all, not for waste. However, agriculture and solid minerals should see increasingly more allocation cum attention than oil going forward.
I recommend a stupendous investment in education (@least 10% of GDP) and infrastructure for a long term, while simultaneously systematically reducing government recurrent costs. A NASS of 469 ppl paying over 2700 aides is simply outrageous. And that's NASS alone. Only in 9ja sha. We need to beef up anti corruption laws. But all that is nonsense without meaningful enforcement and swift judicial system. That's y someone will have effrontery to steal billions, knowing that if he ever got convicted, he'd just release a small fraction and go scot free. If there's a guarantee that someone who steals N5m today will find himself CONVICTED in prison by weekend, and we see ppl actually going to jail every weekend, trust me corruption will naturally die.
I recommend that we start pushing new frontiers. We can start to be bold to do RIGHT things our own way within international law, without necessarily depending on UK/US/UN nod in an awkward apprentice/master mentality we've been locked in for almost 60years. The world may hate Iranians and North Koreans (I'm not really their fan) but I learnt something from them. This ppl took their destinies in their hands, and they really answer to nobody. Today I read the North Koreans saying they r heading to the moon. North Korea!! Even if it takes them 50 years, I see them getting there.
What are we waiting for?
I rest my case.

We are definitely on the same wavelength . I like the fact about education , that is an albatross upon the neck of this nation . The country would act per time based on the level of knowledge @ its disposal . The knowledge currently flowing around now is abysmal, illiteracy level is shooting for the stratosphere .

PontusPilate:

I will show you the way out. Unfortunately, this way is very difficult for Nigerians (without true change) to endure. But for posterity's sake I will give it anyway.
Before the way out, we need to see where we came from and where we are. But relax, I won't bore u with excess history, just summaries.
First, there are several conspiracy theories about why the British chose to marry about three major inhomogenous peoples of different tongues, faiths and cultures at the time they did. Whatever their reason, this (I call it) apparent inhomogeneity was (and still is) a central, core, foundational challenge to the viability of the new country. So we saw ourselves together. Failure no. 1, we largely ignored the challenge. In fact we fed it by promoting our divisions (tribe, religion, etc) instead of our potentials in the ideals that unite us (hardwork, merit, mutual respect, etc). And so the challenge quickly morphed into a problem that saw the peoples killing each other in humongous pogroms and genocides.
Meanwhile, this new problem is complicated, or I should say, worsened by the discovery of an extremely powerful temptation and economic deception - OIL. The source easy slush funds without hassles. BOOM! Most hands left what they were doing and stretched for oil (the few hands that remained in agriculture and real sector looked like fools. Unfortunately the oil is not everywhere. It is milked from only a section of the country - a worse complication. Leaders quickly lost foresight. Followers became lazy and unproductive. Culture of hardwork and merit quickly eroded. Daubarchery, gluttony, wantonness and consequent vices became norm. Anyway, the rest is history.
Last summary is that we were ruled successively for decades by a bunch of generals who cared less about mathematics and economics than they did their AK-47. What do u expect @op? See, the problem isn't that we had dictators, the problem is we had shortsighted dictators who apparently didn't know thier left from their right.

Actually friend you just stated the problems : nigerians are simple, we place more emphasis on consumption than production , we are inherently tribalistic , we have been unfortunate with our past leaders . u didn't even mention that nigerians have elevated corruption to a culture and we have lost moral values. But all these are still problems .

If we can get selfless leaders that preach oneness , have the sagacity to work through our problems and know how to find its way round the land mines in this complex entity called nigeria ...maybe,maybe . We are still back to the leaders , the followers can't reduce d price of rice, it is dependent on policies from the top .

This is a well thought-out reply , and God knows you are right on every point . So how do we move on from here ; should we just throw up our hands and wait till the country collapse on us or our children's head .

The truth is that the best we can do is talk until we get to the level of making policies or become a policy influencer; till then we would keep holding those there accountable.

Really appreciate you taking time-out to read this lengthy article anyway .

AND BUHARI IS FAILING

1 NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY : think Nigerians have had enough of the cause of the hardship in the land. Mr garba shehu should stop inundating us with how bad the last government was , we know ; that is why the govt was voted out .

2 NOT REDUCING CONSUMPTION LEVEL @ the presidency : U 're not flying first class but you are maintaining about 9 jets .

We are still having allegations of an individual collecting over a billion naira just because one of the cabal went rogue .the feeling is that similar practise is still going out in the executive presently.

Like they say he who seeks equity must come to the table with clean hands ; how do we tell the suffering populace to swallow this bitter pill of suffering when we are still having unaccounted security votes and other inane pecks of political office still very much in play. Governors are busy buying cars for themselves , wives and hangers -on , even heard a governor bought coffins for his subjects ...smh .

Until we start seeing more transparency in the workings of the present government , we would find it hard convincing the masses that it is not business as usual in the presidency , in terms of expenditure on consumption .

3. SECTIONALISM/ PAROCHIALISM / TRIBALISM is very rife in this present administration giving cannon for fodders for fellows such as ffk who go about fanning embers of hate and division in the country because it pays him to do so at this point in time .

The 95% 5 % speech isn't going away, the pattern of appointments speaks volume ,the slowness in response to the malaise of the rogue herdsmen early in this administration tars the president with a brush of fulani supremacy.

In fairness , the presidency of recent has been trying to balance this inequality but it is not enough , if cattle rustlers are being caught definitely the killer herdsmen should be caught 2

4 the greatest legacy of this govt so far is about being tarnished with impartiality on account of it being a graveyard silence to the accusation being thrown around by 'honourable' jubrin , quickly exonerating some top officials of this administration of malfeasance.

The reason y I stood 4 over 5 hours to vote president buhari is on account of his incorruptible stance , in as much as other member of the political class are not on the same page with him,the least this presidency can do is to allow the law to take its course against those called out.

5. The lowest point of this presidency so far has been the economic revival . All the metrics point to the economy in the worst shape in recent years ,accepted that the last administration laid foundation for this crisis the present administration has aided its plunge by some actions such as clinging to subsidy for too long ,trying to fix the naira against advice to the contrary and the present disjoint between the fiscal policy (stimulation) and monetary ( restriction: high interest rates ,mopping up money in circulation) . No serious government in the face of dwindling revenues and increase expenditure , why wait for 6 months to form his cabinet ; it is just not done .

No doubt that attemtps are being made to remedy this various maladies , but like they say the buck stops @ the table of the president. All those ministers ,senior special advisers re being paid to find solutions to the problem not just driving around with escorts and siren.

We need better communication fron the presidency ,we should be updated regularly by alhaji lai mohammed - he has been subpar so far, about situation in the country and steps being taken to solve them with time limit. A goal must be time bound .

The masses would like to know what the president is doing about the price of the bag of rice , the rising costs of food items , if not now when. There should be a regular timeline like we knowing for a fact that importation of fuel (pms) would likely cease when the dangote refinery come on stream fully in 2018/2019 ( God help that man to achieve this )

The president should pls !! Be more flexible .there should be no reason why restructuring canvased for in the last national convention should not be giving a look-in .we can't be mouthing diversification when mining rights are with the federal government - the concurrent list , so how would the states thrive.

I stand with buhari , because we can't have another president in the next 2 1/2 years and I constantly pray for the success of this presidency cos we may not get this sort of upright leaders: president buhari and pastor osibanjo and they should please allow visionaries(bold ministers) to shine through, because Nigerians are hungry and angry .

WHY JONATHAN FAILED

1 CORRUPTION WAS TAKING TO NEW HEIGHTS : exemplified by the amount spent on private jets and champagne during that era . Not to mention the current dasukigate . The profligacy has numbed the minds ,sprinkle in some diezani and we have a glimpse of the humoungous rot in the last administration .
Nobody is even so surprised about the audacity of the former first lady to lay claim to 15 million dollars ; claiming it is for medical bills- 10% of lagos state budget for health.
It was all about consumption , nobody was thinking about strategic production.

2.POOR MANAGEMENT OF THE ECONOMY :in a period of boom our foreign reserve went from 60 billion dollars to 32 billion dollars ; don't bring the Gov's aversion for saving : that applies to the excess crude account : we aint talking excess crude acct here.

His government left behind a legacy debt of 400 billion naira owed to contractors , 8 billion dollars in jv cash calls. Federal govt was owing workers salaries and so many more absurdities...

3 Security was @ its nadir reaching its magnus opus with the chibok girls debacle.

We were alwys entertained by that sadist that established caliphate on nigerian soil : that dude made me sad on a regular.

Same reason why revenue dropped in the face of boom : crude oil theft and vandalism even in the face of the large amounts of money spent on amnesty programme and oilpipes protection.

Empowering individuals to the extent That a guy could buy warships- maybe that is why he bears goverment - that the naval force couldn't even acquire ; does that ring a bell.

4 POOR COMMUNICATION : till it got to the election period ,we didn't really know what the govt was doing . The man that was in our face was the minister of agric - no wonder he is where he is now- and the central bank governor.

I Was always trying to convince my mum and friends that president Jonathan was trying, pointing out gains made in the agricultural ,transport and works sector.

I had to re-assess the presidency after that calamity of a media chat ,where the president was trying to differentiate between stealing and corruption. If 20 billion dollars is missing, AMERICA would know, because it is american money...holy jeez .

But only the blind would say that JONATHAN did nothing . He laid the foundation that APC were in a hurry to attribute to ' THE BODY LANGUAGE OF ....'. TSA ,BVN ,YOUWIN ,integrated personel and payroll information system, summoning the will to privatize Nepa , we started riding trains again in this country and ultimately empowered JEGA .

Regardless of his limitations GEJ bowed out in a blaze of glory by not sitting tight.

Anyway d last administration is gone we now should adress y this present one is failing.

And for my candid opinion,

It's a matter of the mindset.

IMHO

Great minds think alike. I have started already today- d 1st of the month ,since this is collaborative, the most important thing is posting the weekly and monthly summary of performance.

Can't open a separate account for this cos I'm operating about 3 live accounts presently. Don't know y I'm having issues with linking this account to myfxbook dashboard.

3 years :if this can be stuck to ,we would all end up being better traders. .best of God in this journey .

Jobs/Vacancies / Five Things I Would Learn To Do If I Was Jobless by drbashfx(m): 7:55pm On Aug 18, 2016
We can add if from a humble background

The major craze in this clime and time is social media ,e-retailers and othr great things on the world wide web. So first thing:

1 LEARN HOW TO BE A DIGITAL MARKETER:

Who is that: someone that understands e-mail marketing, social media advertising, search engine optimization, google analytics and a fairly good idea abt web designs. In short the guy that can help u get buzz on ur product or service offered online.

Information to be this person is all online and as it is.. we all live online anyway;so any youth can turn that wasted time into a gold mine.

This is a skill corporates re willing 2 pay correct money 4. Brick and mortar company trying to figure out ways to have a big presence online and have a return on investment on money spent online.

2 LEARN TO BE AN AFFILIATE MARKETER:

With the inroad jumia, konga, deal dey etc have made, this is a viable way of trying to earn some dough.

This could take some time-6 months to 1 year to get the hang of it and start profiting.
The input for these is time and propably money for a domain name: 30$.

3. LEARN TO BE A PROGRAMMER :

A damn good programmer won't starve. Like with all skill set,it takes good time to be a bad ass one. All u need is just the 'can do spirit',a mind that is ready to learn- open minded- and make sure it is what u want. If working the back-end seems too much u can learn designing a user interface xml(uix).

We now have schools whereby they re ready to pay you while learning to be a better programmer: Andela . Though the barrier of entry is quite high.

A good programmer can go on to be anything he wants to be; think about the googles, oracles, microsoft, apple, facebook, nairaland e.t.c .

The whole world is your oyster: u can venture into any fields and try to disrupt it by creating unique solutions to myriads of problem in Nigeria.

U might want to look up this start-ups : paystack, hotels.ng, kangpe doctors, andela, prepclass, traclist, flutterwave, drinks.ng, paga and many more. They are all trying to solve problems with technology and monetizing it .

really hope I get to programme 2 some extent one day .

4 Agriculture

This is the big Elephant in the room. We need cheaper tomatoes, bags of rice are expensive, yam is expensive, even sweet potato is now costly ,garri is not that accesible to the poor man anymore; Without mentioning addendums : small eggs, xpensive fish and meat; though u can have a meal without these anyway.

All these points to one thing : scarcity. We import almost everything, youths re in urban centres looking for white collar jobs with funny certificates.

About time to choose a field in agriculture and be a specialist in it :from the quick wins(low hanging fruits) of fish farming to snail rearing, poultry farming ,pig farming ,best ways of growing subsistence crops - defer cash crops technique till later

Find something to do across the value chain of agric: learn how to harvest rice-operating the thresher, processing-handling the mill, storage-learn abt how to go about storing cereals in silos.

Be a specialist and try to find ways of marketing these skills, even if it involves going to co-operative farmers in your village.

One thing is sure, a 21st century farmer will not go hungry.

5 Blogging

Everybody is a blogger nowadays, but trust me there is still room for curation of quality contents on your blog.

Find a great niche that is interesting to you and write or find great stories around it. Curating good contents is not easy neither is creating it,reason why a lot of blogs takes the easy way out and lifts off stories off one another.

The downside to these is that it is a thankless job,and for a hungry man,the incubation period-using linda as an example:4-5 years - b4 it can be monetized might just be too long. You can add to that : finding keywords that would drive traffic to your blog, might involve a jobless man finding dollars for facebook, twitter, instagram, google ads .

But in all these u become a better person and an authority in that field and u never know who or when the expertise would be needed.

A rich kid would easily crack blogging than a jobless dude. These bring me to jobs that would work well for a jobless dude with buffer: photography-those cameras re quite expensive, same thing with being a dj-ask dj cuppy(otedola),xclusive (alakija) ,obi (ajuonuma) ,case ( dehinde fernandez grandson). U can try cracking being a chef. All these skills re in high demand.

A jobless dude won't be able to afford money 4 studio sessions,or the xpenses for transportation and looking good for an audition: hazards of trying to be an entertainer.

This list is not exhaustive, about time we stop mopping about lack of jobs and find something for our hands to do. God bless.

You APC goons spreading lies about Mr Trump are doing so precisely because of Buhari and the certainty that a republican President will deal with evil leaders in the world such as Buhari.

I see where you are coming from - jonathan in the lead (a big lie)

Just wrote what the guy (trump) said. so where is the lie there. I just hope all he said was just bluster and for d other things u said -sure putin and kim jong-un are ur idea of good leaders.

Nonsense, Total rubbish, Trump merely said he will deport illegal immigrants, every country does that not only Trumpania, okay? I am very sure you are an illegal immigrant or u know somebody there that is illegally there, let me tell you, your days there are numbered, I thought you loved Nigeria so much, why do you worry your sorry self of other people's country? It is their country not Nigeria, deal with your boko haram and leave the Americans alone. Look, even barracks own brothers are voting for Trump ie Malik hassan Obama, Rubbish.

U mister just took idiocy to another level . Where in that speech did he mention anything abt deporting illegals ; he said he would deport all Nigerians, cos we are taking their jobs.

And for ur information, I am very much in nigeria ( a smart person would know that from my IP adress ) and it takes the love of the country for someone with my skillset to stay put here .

Sure u've heard about brain - drain ; that happens when guys like me leave this country, it is happening now fast -my colleagues are leaving in droves. Thy are definitely not illegals dummie. Part of the reason for this write -up .

It will be more than hostile. Many go to the states to deliver their babes so they can be American citizens by birth. I keep asking why and why. Can't we think about the future. Ofcourse, what they will do is to identify those class of babies and treat them separately in the nearest future. Records don't lie. As seen with brexit, it will only take a short time for these countries to figure out the they can't always be at the giving end.

Thumbs up bro, we are on the same wavelength. We have no choice but to make this country work .

What's all this fixation about Donald Trump by Nigerians?

Are we going to be negatively affected by an American president's election more than we are already being negatively affected by our own elected government?

How has Obama's presidency positively affected us?

Same way he doesn't feed me too,but a high percentage of Nigerians have loved ones : family members, friends ,colleagues over there .

Trump says it as it is. Sadly, Majority don't like to hear the truth rather they like to hear what they want to hear and feel happy. If the Americans, Britons and the rest of them ran away from their troubles, they won't be where they are today. China did the same and they are happy. Why can't other African countries do the same. It's sad that those who are fighting for some independence are only fighting for their personal benefits. Why blow pipelines when you can blow up the National and State assembly. These politicians are all the way they are simply because they do these things and get away with it.

That is d summation of this intervention : we should clean up our messed up country and not flocking to another man's land. Especially a land that may become hostile pretty soon

Just off watching trump's acceptance of the republican nomination speech for like the third time. It all seems like a plot in a thriller set across continents.

The slitting of a priest's throat in france by islamic extremists, the syrian refugee that blew himself up .The shooting in a german mall-9 confirmed dead already -by presupposed radical muslims .In france a tunisian drove a truck into crowds in nice killing 84 people and injuring many. A crazed 17 years old Afghan refugee stabbing people in a local train in germany.

A crazed palestine stabbing three ladies- scratch that - a woman and her 2 daughters, for immodest dressing(wearing shorts and sleeveless blouse) in the french alps and the #black lives matter shooting to death policemen in dallas and baton rogue by ex-millitary guys with high assault rifle(IWI tavor sar 5.56 );all this happening within 15 days. Add to the mix the mad man that went bonkers in japan

The world has never had it so bad with terrorism and mindless violence across the sea.

Fuelling apparent dissent against blacks and migrants especially of islamic origin across europe and in u.s.a. If I believed in conspiracy theory,I would say there is a force @ play pulling strings to further screw the migrants from the horns of africa and syria.

Won't be surprised if an islamic themed terror attack by migrants occur in d u.s 1-2 months to the u.s election, that would hand the key to the white house to the man that said these words:

'' We need to get the Africans out. Not the blacks, the Africans. Especially the Nigerians. They are everywhere. I went for a rally in the Alaska and met just one African in the entire state. Where was he from ? Nigeria ! He is in Alaska taking our jobs. ( Dude didn't even spare his Nigerian supporter )

They are in Houston taking our jobs . Why can't they stay in their own country? Why? I will tell you why. Because they are CORRUPT.

Their Governments are so corrupt ,they rob the people blind and bring it all here to spend and their people run away and come down here to take our jobs ! We can't have that !

If I become president,we will send them all home. We will build a wall at the atlantic shore. Then maybe we will re-colonize them (. .DAAMN) because obviously they did not learn a damn thing from the british.

Verbatim;bracketed emphasis mine...speech from the likely next president of the United states of America :Donald trump .

Like the sons of Isiacaar, I make bold to say projections of thought doesn't favour the neoliberal movement that promotes diversity in the west.

Things would get worse for migrants especially of islamic origin and blacks ; a tip is the new british p.m threatening to deport a migrant of over 5 yrs that doesn't earn 35k pounds a year.

Destabilisation of the middle east by the ' arab springs ' brought upon the world this refugee crisis; trying 2 mix 2 opposing cultures. I expect greater walls to be built against the refugees.

For the black economic migrant , he might need to have a rethink abt migrating -dont even venture without completed papers ,u wld likely die @ sea - unless you are highly skilled.

The best bet is for us to rally around to try and fix our poorly structured country we are running away from ; for the other group of migrants:the refugees, with destabilized home,it is double wahala for dead body.

God bless Nigeria.

You can't cut off your nose to spite your face, the U.K. Is one of the highest buyers in the automobiles from Germany and the rest of the EU so how is that possible?

Britain's import of german cars would reduce in the near -term if the above scenario plays out because of the higher cost anyway.u only purchase cars in a buoyant economy; britain's economy may tank in the near-term. Taking a dent in their 'export of cars' may be a price germans are prepared to pay for the integrity of EU.

It is all economics anyway,no absolutes.
Foreign Affairs / Likely Implications Of Britain Leaving The Eu by drbashfx(m): 8:21am On Jun 24, 2016
BRITAIN LEAVES THE EU

Bombshell everywhere:the ound has dropped over 15000 pips,it's about to loose its AAA ratings by standard and poor.collatera damage on commodity currencies,Australian Exchange has lost over 50 billion dollars in less than 5 hours.

LIKELY IMPLICATIONS IN THE SHORT-TERM FOR BRITAIN

The pound would loose its value, leading to inflation because price of goods would increase-fuel , especially imported goods.

The BOE might decide to raise interest rates to curb inflation:mortgage interests would go through the roofs and might see lots of foreclosure and a bust in the real estate industry.

With a negative standard and poor ratings, investors cash would leave the financial system in droves, consequently leading to a crash in the London Stock Exchange:reduction in the value of investments of british citizens.

The big boys in EU-France and Germany ,might decide to screw britain by banning export of british goods to deter Italy,Greece, bulgaria from following the brexit route to prevent the collapse of EU..the major advantage of devaluation is to favour export;a trade deficit won't augur well for britain.

Then there is the little issue of scotland propably deciding that the EU is good for it,might decide on another referendum to leave Great britain

In summary:it might get dark before the light of brexit starts filtering into britain.this could be the start of another cycle of recession.

Hope I am wrong.

Sweetmaris we learn everyday.today is one of the few days that fundamentals and technicals align.the guardian released a poll around midnight that shows that both online and by phone, the momentum was with people who favour a BREXIT 52% -48 %.

This obviously lead to the sharp sell-off the pair is currently experiencing, really wanted to sound the warning earlier but today is just one of those very busy day @ my offline job.going forward, one eye should be on the polls till after june 24th.It is days like this, that this pair could be the widow maker.

Feshizzy, pls try and reduce the amount of pairs-10 is quite extreme.just try it on demo and see.

Politics / Thoughts On Subsidy Removal...sorry! Price Modulation. by drbashfx(m): 2:41pm On May 15, 2016
No matter the spin they are putting on it,the Government is gradually washing their hands off subsidy.

Wonder what took the government this long.It would have been an easier pill 2 swallow in june,2015,when the international price of crude oil was about the current range, but the naira was very strong @ about 220 naira to the dollar in the black market.

Fuel would have being sold @ around 80-90 naira band.Government would have enlightened nigerians that fuel(premium motor spirit) was now open to the market force of supply and demand. Labour would have had little reason to protest.

Nigerians won't have gone through the hardship of the past 5 months, since the naira went south against the dollar.I get angry thinkng about the endless manhours lost , struggling 2 buy fuel @ 120-150 naira most times.I actually bought fuel 250 naira from a fuel station @ d hinterland of lagos where I work.

Government can't go on with the sham called subsidy but the reason given for this new price is just suspect on all levels.

First, what exactly would nigerians foreign reserve domiciled at the central bank be used for, since we know that cost of importing PMS accounts for about 30-40% of the total amount spent on importing monthly;that should be around 2 billion 400 2 a 700 million dollars. The reserves is meant 2 cover the cost of importation into the country for @ least 6months,as it is the central bank is hardly releasing dollars 4 import.

Secondly, which parallel market is deep enough to fund this gap on a monthly basis.I knew how hard it was sourcing for dollars on the black..sorry, alternate market just 2 days before the announcement. My guess is the government is gambling on the international oil companies and repatriation of forex from diaspora

Thirdly, that brings us to that last public address where the minister 'bobo'-local parlanche for deceive-us that he had reached an agreement with the IOCs to sell forex to major marketers at the official band of 199 naira to import fuel.I guess that means the IOCs didn't come through and if any came through, that company would be regrettng that action bitterly now.It would mean it has been played for a fool;selling its dollars for 199 and the recipient(marketers) turning around to sell its products at a value that uses a band of 290 naira to a dollar as its cost component. .

Fourthly, what happens when the price of fuel if crude oil goes up 2 about 50-55 dollars-a strong possibility- in six months time and the naira definitely going south in the parrallel market due to increased demand and a definite two tier system of foreign exchange market that we have entered.would d price be 'modulated' upward,or we would stick with the present price and be back 2 square one-of long queues and wailing.

The minister is definitely trying his best under very difficult circumstances, but it is better to keep quiet than uttering political statements that would fall flat on its face in a short while-like saying that the price would fall in the next six months;there is no way that he can be sure of that and the failed april 7th date is still fresh in my memory.

Don't see the point in maintaining the official CBN rate of the dollar to the naira ,if even NNPC can't access the dollar at that rate,I wonder who would be benefiting going forward.Defnitely not the masses, cos we are suffering the consequence of devaluation already-buying fuel at the current rate and 2 tomatoes @ 100 naira.maybe the fat cats in the CBN,banks ,govt officials and the likes of Dangote(my mentor)

Enough of the bazaar of arbitrage already, the president should just go ahead and devalue the naira.though it won't address the major problem of acute shortage in supply of dollar in the system but it would discourage the corruption of banks charging parrallel rate when paying out and official rate when receiving money and lazy money making by bankers via arbitrage.Don't really care about the angle of foreign vultures(investors) with hot money.

There is never a best time for terrible policies like these, just hoping this is that period where it gets very worse b4 the silver lining .

I believe in the president,I am sure of the good intentions of the oil minister and I hold onto that belief that God won't abandon Nigeria at our very low point.

Say to the righteous that it shall be well and let's stock food @ home.
