*Love Surpasses Knowledge 2*

May 19, 2017

Ephesians 3:19
“And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.”
1 Corinthians 8:1
The spiritual knowledge of God’s love surpasses the natural knowledge of hurt and disappointment. This is the reason why the unbeliever finds the way of love strange, impossible and unattainable. The unbeliever finds it difficult to understand the reason why the believer forgives willingly. The unbeliever also finds it difficult to understand why a believer lets go of a grudge he should have kept or held on to. The unbeliever finds this difficult because he is only a natural man.
1 Corinthians 2:14 says, “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned” . This knowledge is too high for the man outside Christ, but to us in Christ, it has been given unto us to know and understand the things of God’s kingdom. We walk by the light of God’s love that is too high for them to perceive, unless they get born again.
The unbeliever finds this love way difficult because he does not have the energizing ability of the Holy Spirit within. The believer loves by the energy of the Holy Spirit and by the flow of God’s love from his heart. In the believer, the emotional feeling of hurts, disappointment and things pertaining to offences are deleted from the mind by the love of God. This is because the love of God is operating from a realm which is higher than the realm of the soul. So, when the love of God is flowing, it overwhelms the soul because that love surpasses the knowledge domiciled in the realm of the senses. This is the mystery of God’s love at work in the believer. Hallelujah! Let the love of God flow in, and through you, always.

My Solid Front (Confession): In Jesus Name, I walk in the higher level of God’s love. I refuse to stoop low to hurts and disappointment. In and through Christ Jesus, love has won the victory and that victory is mine! Amen.

*Love Surpasses Knowledge 1*

May 18, 2017

Ephesians 3:19
“And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God.”
1 Corinthians 8:1-3
Today’s opening Scripture talks about knowing the love of Christ that passes or surpasses knowledge. Here, we see two kinds of knowledge; one is the knowledge of the love of Christ, which is supernatural or spiritual, and the other is natural knowledge. Natural knowledge is domiciled in the five physical senses but spiritual knowledge is of the heart. This was what Paul referred to in Ephesians 1:18 as the eyes of your understanding being enlightened.
When the eyes of your understanding are enlightened, the knowledge of God’s love in your heart will shine brighter than the hurts and offences hurled at you by the devil. The light or knowledge of God’s love surpasses natural knowledge; it surpasses scientific knowledge. It is deeper, higher and bigger than the scope of sense knowledge. The light of the knowledge of God’s love is that of the glory of God. This knowledge is light years ahead of natural knowledge.
The knowledge of hurt, agony, disappointment, pain, regret, and the likes, is natural knowledge; this knowledge is surpassed by the love of God. This is the reason why you must always respond to the love of God in you, and not to the emotional feelings of hurt or disappointment. Every time you respond in love, you are responding according to a higher kind of knowledge; that which surpasses natural knowledge, and when you do this, it means that you’ve set yourself to live the higher kind of life that dominates this natural world. Higher life in Christ is only possible in the realm where the light of God’s love shines. This realm is matchless and incomparable to others; it is the realm of excellent outshining of God’s glory.

My Solid Front (Confession): In the Name of the Lord Jesus, I receive strength in my heart to love by the Holy Spirit. I go by the higher knowledge of the love of God, therefore I am positioned to live the higher life that dominates this natural world. Amen.

The Supernatural Life 1

March 7, 2017

Genesis 1:3
“And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.”
John 1:1
The supernatural controls the natural, and the natural displays the supernatural. Victims of life are natural and ignorant people who only have things happen to them instead of making things happen. They are ignorant in that they do not know how to make things happen in their favour; they are frustrated just because they think life isn’t fair on them. Some even think that things will happen for them by chance. They live their lives at the mercy of the next good thing that may happen. They are not sure of anything good happening to them other than their woes and troubles befalling them.
But God did not design life to run that way, which was the reason He made man in His image that he might walk with Him. Sin came into the world and cut man off from that vital fellowship he once enjoyed with God; but thank God for the redemptive plan of God effected by Jesus Christ at Calvary. Now man has been restored to fellowship with God in Christ Jesus. “ Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away, behold all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17). The man in Christ is supernatural and of the supernatural God.
Lessons must be learnt of the supernatural to walk in it. God is our Mentor and Coach in this realm. We must look to Him for vital lessons on how to walk in the supernatural. For example, He created the earth by His Word. This revelation to us is vital to walking in the supernatural. The Word is a vital handle that dictates the pace of happenings in the natural. When the Word is spoken, as God spoke it in the beginning, the natural makes room for what it commands or demands.

My Solid Front (Confession): I declare in the Name of Jesus that I am of God. I am of the class of God. I am a legitimate and proper child of the Most High. I am born of the Spirit and of the Word. I speak the Word and I see what I say. Amen.

Understanding the Goodness of God

February 8, 2017

Psalms 136:1
“O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; for his mercy endureth forever.”
Psalms 84:11
Our opening Scripture tells us to give thanks to God because He is good and His mercy endures forever, which means that the goodness of God is worth giving thanks for. God is so good that you cannot but give Him thanks for His goodness. God’s goodness cannot be ignored. Every time we give thanks to God, we acknowledge that He is good. To not give thanks to God is to ignore His goodness and mercy. Little wonder the Word enjoins us to give thanks to God; for He is good and His mercy endures forever. Again Psalms 84:11 tells us that God is a sun and shield and that no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly. God is so good that He cannot withhold anything good from those who seek Him. The goodness of God is one of the central themes of the Bible.
The goodness of God simply means that He is generous and benevolent, so much so that He gives over and above what you require. The Word tells us in James 1:5 that if anyone lacks wisdom, he should ask of God, who gives liberally or generously and does not find fault, and it will be given him. God’s goodness reveals His willingness and ability to do exceedingly and abundantly above all that we ask or think. God loves to bless you beyond what your thoughts can ever imagine.
The goodness of God is bigger than your dreams and needs; it is the reason we are living and we want to live another day, for His lovingkindness is better than life. Life isn’t worth living without God’s loving kindness. Beloved, give thanks to God daily for He is good and His mercy endures forever.

My Solid Front (Confession): Heavenly Father, I thank You for You are good and Your mercy endures forever. I walk in the light of Your goodness in my walk with You in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

What It Means To Believe God (1)

Hebrews 11:35-36; Hebrews 11:1-6

Hebrews 11:35-36 "Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: and others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment." What does it really mean to believe God? In today’s opening Scripture, the Bible shows us of some people who through faith went through torture, refusing to accept deliverance. This reveals the other side of faith, which is going through unpalatable circumstances in the Name of the Lord for faith’s sake. Again, our opening Scripture reiterates that some through faith went through trials of cruel mockings and scourgings, imprisonment and bonds. Beloved, it is important to understand the whole counsel of God. There are believers whose faith never reach that part of receiving suffering according to the Word of God for the sake of preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They suppose that being in faith only means there will be no challenges or tests. No, a thousand times no! Faith is not only meant for receiving beautiful things from God, it is also useful for enduring unpalatable occurrences for the Gospel sake. Some believers like to select parts of the Scriptures that appeal to them and reject the parts that don’t appeal to them. This ought not to be so. We shouldn’t have parts of the Bible that we agree with or receive and parts that we don’t agree with. Every believer ought to receive the entire counsel of God from Genesis to Revelation, for all Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and they are profitable for the total wellbeing of the believer. If you have to suffer persecution for the Word sake, receive it with joy and rejoice greatly, for the Spirit of glory rests on you.

What Bible Faith Is (3)

Genesis 12:1-4; Genesis 21:5

Genesis 12:4 "So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran." When God first spoke to Abraham in Genesis 12, making him the promise to make him great and bless the whole world through him, the Bible tells us that he was seventy-five years old. Genesis 21:5 tells us that it was when Abraham was about one hundred years old that he saw the fulfilment of the promised seed Isaac, which God said He would give him. Abraham waited for twenty five years to see God’s word come to pass. Naturally, he could have given up after some years, and told God, "I am tired of waiting for the son you promised"", but he did not. And the truth is, if it had taken fifty years before Isaac was born, Abraham would still have continued in faith. He had come to a point of total abandonment on God. He had given himself over to God. Beloved, this is the Bible kind of faith; it is outright committal to God. Bible faith demands that you commit yourself totally to God, believing Him for your total and complete support. That’s what faith is, and the Bible encourages us to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ the same way Abraham believed in God when He told him "I have made you a father of many nations..."" He fully trusted in God, who quickens the dead and calls those thing that be not, as though they were. We also ought to fully trust our lives into the hands of Jesus our Lord, regardless of the challenges in our faith walk. In other words, even if what you believe him for seems prolonged in materializing, you keep on in faith all the same; that’s what it means to believe in God.

Other Scriptures for Meditation: Numbers 23:19; Psalm 112:6-8

What Bible Faith Is (2)

Romans 4:19-20; James 1:5-8

Romans 4:19-20 "And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb: he staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God." Abraham was a man whose faith in God became a reference point of what faith truly is. This means that by studying his life carefully, we can understand what it means to believe God. One important thing that the Bible shows us about Abraham’s faith was that he refused to consider the physical evidence that was against what God had told him; rather he put his absolute confidence in the Word of God. Romans 4:19 tells us that at the time Abraham demonstrated faith in God, his physical body had come to the point of reproductive death or barrenness, for he was about one hundred years old, and his wife who was ninety years was way past being able to conceive a child because of the deadness of her womb. It was in this state that Abraham believed God. The bible says rather than being weak in faith, he was strong in faith, giving glory to God. Awesome, right? Romans 4:20 tells us that he did not stagger at the promise of God through unbelief; meaning that he did not waver or doubt what God had said. James 1:5-8 shows us that the man who wavers in his faith is double-minded, and will not receive anything from the Lord. Abraham was not double-minded because he was fully persuaded that what God had promised him, He was able to perform despite the contrary facts in the natural. The Word tells us that this kind of faith was accounted to him for righteousness; it means that it is this kind of faith that gets the approval of God.

Place A Demand On God’s Power (I)

Mark 16:20; Acts 8:5-7

Mark 16:20 "And they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen." Many of God’s children want to see mighty manifestations of the power of God, yet only few know how that power is activated and released. Many want to sit within the four walls of the church and see great manifestations of God’s power without stepping out to reach out to the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ; they want the power of God to come on them in church. The question is, for what? What do you intend to do with His power in Church? Does God’s power come on us just so we can feel good and have goose bumps? The truth is this; you will not see much of the power of God in manifestation through you until you start preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ practically and vehemently. Take the Gospel to those who need to hear it and you will see God’s power made manifest through you on a higher scale. In our opening Scripture, we see that it was as the disciples went everywhere preaching the Word of the Lord that He confirmed the Word with signs following. Signs don’t follow us as we sit in the house; they follow us as we preach the Word, for it is the Word that we preach that the Lord will bear witness to. Also, we see in Acts 8:5-7, as Philip preached the Gospel of Christ in Samaria that miracles followed the preaching of the Word. If he sat down in his house in Jerusalem, he would not have seen any miracle. Beloved, if you desire to see God’s power made manifest through you, then get out there and begin to preach the Word.

Other Scriptures for Meditation: Acts 4:29-33; Hebrews 2:3-4

Vessels Of God’s Grace (II)

1 Corinthians 12:27; Romans 12:4-5

1 Corinthians 12:27 "Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular." When the Lord Jesus walked the face of the earth, He was the only body of Christ that there was. Colossians 1:19 tells us that it pleased the Father that in Him all fullness should dwell. John 1:14 tells us that He was full of grace and truth; anyone who wanted to make contact with God had to get to the man Jesus. After He was raised from the dead, He made it possible for others to become a part of His body. 1 Corinthians 12:13 tells us "for by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit."" Now everyone who puts faith in Christ becomes baptized into His body; therefore becoming a member of His body. This is what today’s opening Scripture shows us; that we are members of Christ’s body, therefore we have become extensions of Him, of His power, of His love, of His mercy and grace. We have become depositories of God’s power on the earth. We have become the vessels of God’s power on the earth. This is in two folds: firstly, through the preaching of the Gospel. Romans 1:16 tells us that the Gospel is the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes, and we know that the Lord Jesus has committed the preaching of this Gospel to the Church’s care (Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15), making the Church the custodian of the Gospel. Since the Church is the custodian of the Gospel, which is the power of God unto salvation, then it means that the Church is the custodian of God’s saving power on the earth.

Other Scriptures for Meditation: 1 Timothy 3:15; 2 Corinthians 5:18-19

My Solid Front (Confession)

Vessels Of God’s Grace (I)

1 Peter 4:10; 1 Peter 5:10

1 Peter 4:10 "As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God." 1 Peter 5:10 tells us that God is the God of all grace. But how does He make His grace available for use and edification? Our opening Scripture for today shows us how. He makes His grace available through us. The Scripture calls us (believers in Jesus Christ) stewards of the manifold grace of God; meaning we are God’s vessels of impact and influence to the world. Whatever God is going to give to the world, He gives through the Church – the body of Christ. God is not going to jump the process; whatever He wants to do to get the world to Him, by way of reconciliation, He does through the Church; even the preaching of the Word of His grace is done by us to unleash His grace to the world. He has given unto us the ministry and the Word of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18-19). This truth is well spelt out in 2 Corinthians 5:18-19; it says "and all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; to wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation."" Again, John 3:16 says "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."" Having received His love, we are now channels for the transmission of the same love to others. By the grace of God, we have become ministers of the manifold grace of God to bless the ends of the world with, as the seed of Abraham.

Other Scriptures for Meditation: Acts 19:11; 2 Corinthians 3:5-6

Spiritual Stewardship (I)

Isaiah 53:10; 1 Timothy 2:4

Isaiah 53:10 "Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand." We are stewards of the plan and will of God on the earth, and God expects His plan to prosper in our hands. Isaiah 53:10 speaks of the pleasure or plan of God prospering in Jesus’ hand, and as the Father has sent Him, so has He sent us (1 John 4:17). The pleasure of the Lord ought to prosper in your hand, too. What then is the pleasure or plan of God? 1 Timothy 2:4 makes it plain; "who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth."" God wants all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. That’s God’s pleasure and He wants that fulfilled through you via the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. To serve God means to follow His plan for your life as to winning souls to Christ. Beloved, God has a business; it is the business of winning souls, and everything we do in church is all about that business of the Father. He wants the whole world to know what He has done for their salvation through His Son Jesus, and every child of God has a role to play in this business. It’s God’s family business. 1 Corinthians 3:9 tells us that we are co-labourers with God in His great salvation plan for humanity. 2 Corinthians 5:18-19 speaks of the ministry and Word of reconciliation that we have received in Christ Jesus. We are to serve him in the faithful discharge of the assignment that He’s given, that the world may know about His love for them.

Terms Of The Covenant
Romans 10:8-10; Ephesians 2:8-10

Romans 10:8-10 "But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Covenant requires a committal of the parties involved to the terms of the covenant. For example, nobody can get saved without confessing Jesus as Lord. This is what it requires to be born again. The confession of Jesus as Lord is a committal to Him and the terms of the New Covenant. Nobody gets saved by confessing Jesus as prophet, teacher or friend. No, a million times no! If you are saved today, it is because you have confessed Him as the Lord of your life. That’s what the terms of the New Covenant require to be born again. You see, that is the requirement for coming into the New Covenant. In Genesis 2, the covenant that God made with Adam had terms. God told him that he could freely eat of the fruit of every tree in the garden except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Death would be the result of breaking that covenant. In Genesis 12:1-4, God made a covenant with Abraham; he made him some promises which were premised on him leaving his country and his relatives to a place that He would show him, and he departed according to the Word of God. God then blessed him and made his name great according to His promise which He made to him. Abraham kept his own side of the covenant; he departed as God had spoken to him. Though he was seventy five at the time that he left Haran and was already established there, yet he departed according to the Word of the Lord. The result was that God blessed Abraham in all things (Genesis 13:2; 24:1). Abraham obeyed God in faith, and God blessed him, unlike Adam who disobeyed God, and was expelled from the Garden of Eden. Abraham didn’t have to struggle to be blessed because he was functioning in the covenant.

What Is The Covenant?
Genesis 2:16-17; Malachi 2:14-15

Genesis 2:16-17 "And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die." The covenant is a binding agreement between two persons, and their seed(s), which is based on some terms. This means that there cannot be a covenant without some terms of covenant. Covenant demands commitment from the parties involved to the terms of the covenant. For example, the marriage covenant between a man and his wife is based on some terms which neither of them is permitted to violate. A violation of the terms of the covenant always lead to a break of the covenant. For Adam, the consequence of breaking the covenant was death, which is disconnection from the sustaining life of the God of covenant. He then had to sustain himself, which he eventually could not successfully do, so he died. God is our Sustainer and Sustenance. Life is in the covenant, while death is outside the covenant. At this point, it is important that we realize or know that the covenant cannot and does not work or run itself. It is run by the partners involved in the covenant by taking careful heed to the terms. It is evident that God is faithful and true to His Word, and that His Word is His bond or covenant; therefore, we must trust in His grace to enable us keep our part of the covenant to see it work for us. Beloved, the covenant is a binding and abiding agreement which has binding blessings or consequences (effects) on its partners. The covenant is not frivolous or casual; it is a serious agreement that must be adhered to faithfully and meticulously.

God’s Provisions Are In His Covenant

Psalms 111:5; Deuteronomy 8:18

Psalms 111:5 "He hath given meat unto them that fear him: he will ever be mindful of his covenant." All the blessings and provisions of God are in His covenant. In the beginning, before Adam broke God’s covenant, he had all his needs met by God’s generous supplies. He was prosperous, and his prosperity was not a function of prayer. He did not have to pray for food, His bread and water was sure on the ground of the covenant. He had more than he wanted and will ever need. The provisions of the covenant were richer than his biggest needs. Adam didn’t have to pray for a wife when he received one from God. It was God who said in Genesis 2:18, "It is not good for the man to be alone, I will make for him a help suitable"". God caused him to have a deep sleep and took one of His ribs, and formed the woman; and He brought her to him. He didn’t have to go to her; God brought her to him. As long as Adam remained in God’s covenant, all his needs were met. Poverty, sicknesses, death and such things were strangers to him. Lack and want set in when Adam broke the covenant. When he was in the covenant, God took good care of him; but when he stepped out of the covenant, he began to fend for himself. Beloved God’s provisions for you are guaranteed in the covenant. In Deuteronomy 8:18, God told Israel the reason why He would give them the power to get wealth; He said it was so that He might establish His covenant which He swore to their fathers. All the blessings of God are of the covenant.

The Covenant Is Not Subject To Feelings
Psalms 119:89; Psalms 89:34

Psalm 119:89 "Forever, o Lord, thy word is settled in heaven." In covenant, there is no begging by any of the partners to receive the benefits or privileges of covenant. In covenant, privileges are rights. Covenant gives dignity to relationship and the persons involved in it. For example, in the marriage covenant neither of the couple has a right to withhold any marital benefit or privilege from the other. In 1 Corinthians 7:3, the Scripture says "let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband."" The apostle Paul by the Holy Spirit is letting us see that in the marriage covenant, sexual intercourse is a right which neither the husband nor the wife is permitted to withhold from each other, feelings or grievances notwithstanding. God is no respecter of persons. Anyone who responds to His Word, irrespective of his or her background, will have whatever the Word says. There is no room for sentiments, feelings or emotions in covenant. One reason why a lot of marriages are not working is that they are run on feelings rather than on covenant. In covenant, feelings don’t count; it is the terms of the covenant that count. This is the reason why covenant relationships are more stable than casual relationships. A covenant runs by committing to the terms and not on the feelings of the partners. There is security and stability in covenant. God’s covenant is the most stable thing in heaven and earth; it is not subject to feelings, nor circumstances, nor changes. God said in Psalms 89:34 "My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips""

The Covenant Loving God
Psalms 25:10; Psalms 36:5
Psalms 25:10 "All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies." God is a covenant loving, covenant keeping God. He relates to people on the note of covenant. Nobody can have a casual or an unserious relationship with God. He cannot get into relationship with anyone who wants to take Him for granted because He is great, faithful and greatly to be honoured. One of the reasons God loves covenant is because He is a faithful God. Faithful people love covenant because faithfulness demands faithfulness. Just as love demands love, faithfulness also demands faithfulness. The covenant is the premise or ground whereon the faithfulness of God is committed or secured. On the platform of the covenant, you can commit God’s faithfulness to His part of the covenant as you fulfill your part. God’s Word is His bond; His covenant. Another reason why God cuts covenant with His people is because He is merciful. It is within the premise of the covenant that the mercies of God are sure. God’s goodness and loving-kindness are kept within the premise of the covenant. Psalms 106:44-46 tells us that "Nevertheless he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry: and he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercies. He made them also to be pitied of all those that carried them captives."" When He remembered His covenant with Abraham, He had mercy on Israel and caused their captives to return from captivity, for all the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep His covenant. Beloved, have respect for the covenant of God as you walk with Him to enjoy His mercy and faithfulness.

Understanding The Nature Of God’s Covenant

Genesis 6:18; Genesis 15:18

Genesis 6:18 "But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee." From Scriptures, it is evident that the covenants that God made with men were usually personal. In other words, God usually cut covenants with individuals, and not with groups of people; although the covenant that He made with individuals also extended to others of their family members or of their kind of faith or obedience of faith. When God makes a covenant with a man, his seed after him usually partakes of the benefits and responsibilities of the covenant. For example in Genesis 2, God made a covenant with Adam by giving him a commandment not to eat the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. At this time he was alone, God had not made Eve yet. However both of them and their children after them partook of the consequences of Adam’s disobedience because God formed Adam first and He brought out Eve from him. In Genesis 9, God made a covenant with Noah and extended it to his seed after him. In Genesis 17, God also made a covenant with the Abraham, and He extended it to his seed after him. The covenants of God are trans-generational. Another important thing to observe about the covenants God made with men is that He was always the one who proposed covenant to them. It was God that gave Adam the commandment in Genesis 2:16-17 which became the basis for their relationship. It was God who established a covenant with Noah and his seed (Genesis 9:9). It was God who established a covenant with Abraham and his seed (Genesis 17:7). God’s covenants are always on His generous terms.

The God Of Covenant (II)

Genesis 2:16-17; Deuteronomy 30:15-20

Genesis 2:16-17 "And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die." God is a faithful God. He never breaks His Word. God’s Word is His bond; His covenant. Going by the nature of God’s faithfulness, He always wants to cut covenant with His people that His faithfulness might be revealed to them, and that they also might enjoy His everlasting faithfulness. Psalms 89:34 says, "My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips"". By God’s covenant, mercy and grace are preserved for those who love Him and who are walking with Him. If Adam had kept God’s covenant and had not transgressed the Word of God, man still would have been living in the Garden of Eden; the Garden of God’s pleasure. Man still would have been in the glory of God in all its many sided manifestations. There wouldn’t have been death, pain, oppression, poverty, sicknesses and diseases. In all the dispensations of God to man, there hasn’t been any one without a covenant. From the dispensation of Innocence to that of Conscience, from Conscience to the Law, and from the Law to Grace, which is known as the New Covenant. All the dispensations are all of covenants. This revelation of God to man shows that God will always keep His covenant because He is faithful. Walking with God requires an understanding of who He is and a corresponding response to Him as such. Knowing God as a God of covenant helps to facilitate our walk with Him, and shows us that we have to keep our part of the covenant because He will not deny Himself, nor His Word.
