Foreign AffairsRe: Xenophobia: Fear & Loathing In South Africa - BBC Africa Documentary (Throwback) by drips8(m): 7:33pm On Jul 06
Immigrants are blamed because they are easy pickings.

They won't attack the owners of big businesses as many of them depend on them for work.

So any anger will be taken out on the small scale trader foreigner.

That's it!
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Ranked World’s Most Generous Country by drips8(m): 8:05am On Jun 29
I actually agree.

The average Nigerian will typically give out.

Now, maybe for a number of reasons like religious reasons, black tax and many other.

CelebritiesRe: Davido Wears Jacket With Names Of Kidnapped Oyo Students & Teachers by drips8(m): 11:31am On Jun 11
It's virtue signalling from these celebrities.

But still better than nothing, anything to draw attention to the chaos and mismanagement the government has inflicted on its citizens.

PoliticsRe: President Obasanjo Didn't Win Any State In Southwest In The 1999 Elections? by drips8(m): 10:09pm On Mar 14
Obasanjo lost due to the Shagari election victory against Awo in '79 as many Yorubas felt he sold them out.

Obasanjo also considered himself a pan Nigerian rather than identifying solely as Yoruba.

His candidacy was also controversial as he was with the PDP, a party filled with Nigerians from other parts of the country with different agendas unlike Falae.

It's always these folks.

They always lead stats like this.
Foreign AffairsRe: The US-Iran War Megathread by drips8(m): 2:51pm On Mar 14
I don't think anything is going to change.

The United States will fail in getting a regime change, they might weaken Iran but that's the best they're going to get.

Iran on the other hand will have it's economy shocked and suffer multiple casualties and try to re project their power across the region.

Nothing major is going to happen.

Foreign AffairsRe: Beautiful Iran In 70’S Before Islamic Revolution ( Videos) by drips8(m): 9:31pm On Mar 04
grandstar:
The Shah was very corrupt. It wasn't the heaven people claim it to be.

Nevertheless, the Mullahs disappointed. By 1990, the Iranians knew they were hot air, that they had nothing to offer.

Simply because you call yourself a pastor or an Imam does not make you an economist or a great manager.
Absolutely. I agree and i personally think theocratic states are awful.
Foreign AffairsRe: Beautiful Iran In 70’S Before Islamic Revolution ( Videos) by drips8(m): 7:24pm On Mar 04
Lmao. Posts are like these are so stupid when you don't account for the history.

The Islamic state didn't just come about. Most of the population were suffering. They post videos of the westernised educated elites and act like it was the standard.

The same country that the Shah ruled as a dictator with his own secret police is suddenly the liberal and enlightened government.

It's all politics, they (foreign companies) got kicked out and yet they've trying to get back in whether be it sanctions or military action.

Shior!

allthingsgood:
When they did it to Venezuela, Europe kept mum and France even supported. No the cock has come home to roost
True. Europe itself has lost most of its relevancy and I wouldn't consider them to be equal partners with the US.
Foreign AffairsRe: Trump Says US ‘Needs’ Greenland As Denmark PM Urges Him To Stop The Threats by drips8(m): 5:09am On Jan 05
This is very funny. Its clear the United States is on an expansion agenda right now.

It's easier to topple other countries especially smaller ones with a divided leadership base.

It's interesting with Greenland considering they have no excuse for this likewise with Denmark.
PoliticsRe: Salaries Of The First Class And Second Class Kings In Yoruba Land (throwback) by drips8(m): 6:42pm On Dec 25, 2025
The British paid these kings salaries for their administrative roles in Yorubaland just like the ones in the North due to in direct rule.

It's a stupid colonial tradition we've carried out in this independence age.
PoliticsRe: Banditry: Kwara Closes Schools In Four LGs, Demands Military Base by drips8(m): 7:04am On Nov 20, 2025
Absolute rubbish. Insecurity has gotten worse and these terrorists/bandits/islamists have gotten more emboldened over the years when they've been treated with levity.

PoliticsRe: Sir Louis Odumegwu Ojukwu Was The Richest Man In Nigeria. by drips8(m): 7:42pm On Sep 08, 2025
voortrekker966:
Old wealth is measured with present economic levels. Mansa Musa is said to be worth about 400 billion 'in today's dollars'. Dollar wasn't in existence in Mansa Musa's time but it is used to measure his wealth. Billion might not be existing in Sir Odumegwu's time but today's money worth can be used to measure his wealth.
I understand that, but the billion number was definitely existing. The truth is a billion is too much money. If you had it, everyone would know.

Also, Mansa Musa's wealth isn't his personal net worth, but his empire, it's like adding the net worth of a kingdom and its king together.
PoliticsRe: Sir Louis Odumegwu Ojukwu Was The Richest Man In Nigeria. by drips8(m): 3:06pm On Sep 08, 2025
shortgun:
The links I posted are all from credible sources including a Forbes feature that acknowledged Sir Louis Ojukwu as a billionaire. So why are you arguing against established facts?
Tbh, I wouldn't consider them credible sources.

If he was truly rich as they claimed, people would know, even international publications like forces would pick the story up.

As I said, he was extremely wealthy by no doubt, but the estimate of his wealth seems wrong, you don't need to be a billionaire to have his properties like his Rolls Royce.

Even the Nigerian economy definitely wasn't worth that much.

The richest man was J.P. Getty and his wealth was only a billion dollars, the American economy itself was around $500B. Reason I believe those estimates are unlikely.
PoliticsRe: Sir Louis Odumegwu Ojukwu Was The Richest Man In Nigeria. by drips8(m): 10:47am On Sep 08, 2025
Reno is a bigot and fool but he's right.

He was wealthy no doubt, but he wasn't a billionaire, if he was, then we would all know.

Nigerians have a numbers problem and are easily swayed with peoples large properties or flamboyant lifestyles. The likes of MKO Abiola, Dantata, and Ojukwu sr were all wealthy, but they were not billionaire status. A lot of people don't know how much a billion dollars is.

I believe the first proper billionaire from Nigeria is Dangote.

Went down because he wasn't professional and didn't follow the rules.

Foreign AffairsRe: UK's New M16 Chief's Grandfather Was A Nazi Spy Nicknamed "The Butcher" (Photos) by drips8(m): 7:58pm On Jun 27, 2025
Insane. I'm not surprised, a lot of high ranking government officers especially in Europe are descended from Nazis and their collaborators.
