They British backed Nigeria for economic reasons. The oil companies Shell and BP had significant control over Nigeria's oil industry and these companies are controlled by the British government and the Royal family. Nigeria disintegrating would have lead to destruction of their control especially at the time as Biafra had made deals with another oil company owned by the French government ELF. 226 Likes 22 Shares |

Muhammadu dikko was actually appointed by the British, they got rid of the some of the Emirs in the North and replaced them with British loyalists. The Emirs appointed by the British had special benefits from salaries, education and even tours to the United Kingdom. 4 Likes |

The thing is she and the Royal family are seen as the symbol of British imperialism, the British Empire did a lot of horrible things to people. You can try and argue that the colonization had benefits even though most of the benefits were low. It was worse in places like Rhodesia now Zambia and Zimbabwe, South Africa, Kenya, India and Yemen. Even the actions of the British government in collaboration with the Nigerian government was equally despicable. If she had acknowledged everything from slavery to colonization, people might have reacted differently or positively. |

Gentino:The fraud grouping has existed before independence, the Northern Nigerian region's large size was intentionally created by the British to ensure the core northerners would control the government through the parliament. Yoruba parts were added to the North and Igbo parts were added to the South South to reduce their influence. The modern geo political zoning was created by a Northerner Abacha to ensure Northern dominance. The North Central is also a sham, they're Northerners during elections but Middle belt when they're over. |

I read about the massacre and it was completely unfair and unjustified, they accused the people of harbouring Biafran soldiers, the Nigerian army basically killed people on a mere assumption. |

This is pure hypocrisy, Arab Muslims were just as guilty as the European Christians. The Trans Saharan slave trade was orchestrated by the Arabs, they bought and sold as much as 17 million Africans mostly from East, West and Central Africa compared to the 12 Million by the Europeans. They also suffered as Castration, beatings, rape and murder were common by the Arabs. They also overworked the slaves, and often murdered them, it's the reason why there aren't any Arab nations with sizable black populations compared to the Americas. The Sokoto Caliphate had millions of enslaved people and Mauritania a Muslim majority country recently outlawed slavery in 1962 whereas the rest of the world did in the 1800s. The group is out of control, Radical Islamists start by preaching then slowing instigating violence, the same tactic used in nations like Pakistan, Lebanon. Only nations with good leaders from Muslim majority prevented the likes of Radical Islamists from taking control over nations like Turkey, Indonesia and Malaysia. 2 Likes |

Buhari's attachment to Niger Republic shows how the ethnic identity is stronger, our national identity was forced by the British and now by ourselves with slogans of "One Nigeria". It's the same reason why someone from Borno feels closer to a Nigerien than to someone from Cross River. 1 Like |

Toluwanise247:If you commit multiple crimes, you have multiple counts, so if the punishment for one crime is 10 years imprisonment, they'll multiply it by by the number of counts, but you'll serve the jail term as one instead of the multiple years. |

The nation is quite underrated. They sent the first man, woman, animal and satellite into space, long before the Americans. They were also very important during WWII, most of the fighting took place in Europe in where they were the main army fighting against Nazi Germany, they also suffered a lot of casualties and lost a lot of men which actually has shifted in a demographics problem. It was around 2014, I was playing PES11 BAL(Become a legend) mode, then I would read BAL stories on different forums. I discovered a funny thread BAL on Nairaland, but I didn't stick around until 2017 when I began reading the front page topics. |

There should be laws regulating the Nigerian workforce, a lot of abuse happens mostly because of the desperation of Nigerians, unemployment is a terrible thing. Some people will probably apply for job openings despite the terrible work culture. 23 Likes |

I actually think he deserves the pay, he took a company valued at $340 Billion back in 2011 to a company with a valuation of $3 Trillion in just a decade, he's obviously good at his job and has continued to make investors and shareholders impressive dividends. Then again, the criticisms are reasonable, regular workers don't really get salary increases, some endure terrible working conditions especially in sweatshop factories despite their contributions to the company's growth. 1 Like |
