Sincerely, I'm tempted to think space exploration is an overhyped bag of sh*t. NASA will share some watercolour artwork and say it's a picture of some galaxy million years away taken by the Hubble telescope. And all sorts of crap.

In fact, many say the so-called first landing on the moon was only meant to distract the masses during the civil wars.

However, we should remember that the essence of research isn't only to find solutions to existing problem. Rather it includes filling gaps in human knowledge even without an apparent benefit from such knowledge (at least presently).

Infact, this is the primary reason for research; to improve our knowledge of the world we live. This is why I'm surprised when I see people insulting our profs for doing research on abstract topics.

Hey, academic research isn't meant to directly solve societal problems. It's meant to only explore, discover and explain new things or old things in a different way.

It's the duty of the industry to solve societal problems.

Academia is one thing, industry is another.

I'm not saying our academia is doing well, but this isn't one of the wrong things about our professors and researchers.

Now back to the topic.

I don't think mere curiosity is enough reason for a country like USA to spend billions of dollars on projects. I believe there's more to it than they're telling the world. But then, it's their money and country.

America spends a about 0.5% of its budget which is about $20.7 billion on space exploration and in turn it create jobs since most of the work is done on Earth. It is also seen as a new industry.

Defense is also factor, they're trying to predict the movement of asteroids and study planetary alignments for education.

Space travel is seen as the next big thing, the idea to colonize Mars and be a multi planetary specie, these were the same ideas that inspired Elon Musk. A lot of "experts" think we're on a ticking time bomb due to climate change and the environment.

America's ego, since the "Moon landing" and the Cold War. America's has been viewed as the top nation in terms of new age tech even though the Russians and East Asians aren't far behind or could even be better. The government would like the public to think they're still the best and that includes furthering the work of NASA.

The supposed miracles in the Quran and bible don't make any sense, a talking donkey, a great flood that supposedly wiped out the majority of life on earth, a man who flew a Pegasus and ascended to heaven within the blink of a second.

All these stories are purely fictional and the irony here is that most Christians and Muslims will laugh at the African traditional stories.
The idea of God is racist, misogynistic and just cruel. God has been potrayed has having a massive ego that he needs the worship of mere mortals to feel good about himself.
If God is omniscient, then he shouldn't have angry with Adam in the first instance or guys like Jonah and the pharaoh after all he knew what was going to happen. I guess we shouldn't blame terrorists also after all God knows best.
The only reason people believe in God is because we haven't found the reason for our existence.

Bros talk truth small ...u hardly see posts by christains directed at atheists or Muslims ..u are only beginning to see posts like dis cum up alot nowadays becos christains cannot or create any religious thread without atheists cuming to attack it with their comments...imagine d first christain post 2day d guy was asking a question troubling his mind (about babies destination after life) and see d ways atheists came to turn into a useless debate, thereby raining a lot of insults on d christian faith..let me tell dat is called pure religious descrimnation wen u start insulting other people's belief system..for me Sha ..christians are weakest set of pepo in dis country , u can't try that with Muslims...just check front page topics on Islam on Friday and compare it with today fp christain topics ...and if u still disagree with me den u are being baiased..christains in Nigeria are d only group of people dat can be a majority in a place and still b treated like dey are nothing

Sure there are some Christian threads that invaded by non Christians but the same happens with atheism and Islamic threads, do you see the way they rain insults especially on Muslim threads that seun even had to create that Islamic oath. Christian posters like Kingebukasblog, Al baghdadi have been creating topics ridiculing atheists, non christians and their religion since forever although I agree with you that there should be some level of respect.

Christians cant seem to catch a break with these atheists. Their animosity towards christians is mind boggling. Atheists can barely get through a day without bashing christianity. They are able to be atheists by exercising freewill but see people who pick christianity as gullible fools, which is ridiculous. Must we all be atheists?

They are quick to bring up alot of questions against christian beliefs, making mockery of contents of the bible; forgetting even science wherein lies their belief doesn't have all the answers & is not perfect.

They'll bash miracles and testimonies even when the facts speak for itself that something unscientific & supernatural happened. They'll distort all the facts to further their agenda.

They are all over social space ridiculing pastors, calling them unprintable names. Portraying christians as foolish and unintelligent.

WHY ARE ATHEISTS SO OBSSESSED WITH CHRISTIANS?

Have you seen the topics created by nairaland Christians?, these people bash Islam, atheism and other religions on the regular.

A lot of the contents in the bible are truly absurd, you believe the stories of Jesus raising the dead but you laugh at traditional religions and discard them as myths. Science is not perfect but it is certainly more reliable than religion or else Christians would visit the church first than a hospital.

Christians also bash pastors and a lot of Christians fuel the stereotype of the dumb sheep after all there are reports of Christians drinking bleach just because a pastor said so.

Most atheists are former Christians so they talk about the old religion when needed, there's a popular atheist on the Islam section who debates Muslims even though he's a former Muslim himself.

Europe based players and money are like 5 and 6.
