Rhapsody of Realities “Step Out Of The Boat” . Sunday, June 19th . Pastor Chris And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus (Matthew 14:29). In Matthew 14, Jesus walked on water and showed us something remarkable about the life of faith; the life of the Spirit we’ve been called to live. When His disciples saw Him walking on the water, they were scared, thinking He was a ghost. However, Jesus allayed their fears and said, “…it is I; be not afraid” (Matthew 14:27). When Peter heard the Master’s voice, he spoke up, “…Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water” (Matthew 14:28). Jesus obliged and said, “Come.” Peter stepped out of the boat and walked on the water to meet Jesus. Shortly afterwards, Peter began to drown in the water when he saw the raging tempest; fear gripped his heart and that dissipated his faith. Walking on the water is a life of the Spirit where you don’t consider anything else but God’s Word. It’s when you come out of that comfort zone and security of the boat, and take your steps on the basis of God’s Word. Many, instead of launching out in faith, have chosen to remain in the boat like the other disciples. Imagine how glorious it would have been if all the disciples stepped out in faith and got on the water, when the Master said, “Come!” Be quick and bold to act your faith. There’s so much more for you to enjoy in God. Don’t stay at the same level; grow your faith. Use and exercise your faith. The moment you take your step of faith in whatever God has asked you to do, refuse to be distracted; set your gaze on Jesus. Peter stepped out of the boat in faith, and walked on water. However, immediately he took his gaze off the Master, he began to sink. Hebrews 12:2 says, “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith….” This means to turn away from everything else, and fix your gaze on Jesus. Consciously look away from all the troubles and limitations, and fix your gaze on the realities in His Word. Refuse to consider or be influenced by adverse circumstances; stay focused on the Word. Shut the world out, and see nothing but God. PRAYER Dear Father, I thank you for the blessing of acting on your Word. I make progress by the Word today, confident in its ability to put me over and cause me to excel in all I do. I’m on an upward and forward journey of success and victory, positioned for glory and excellence, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. 10 reasons you're always broke before payday . . Why is it we're always counting the hours until that life-changing SMS from the bank? Most of us know the feeling. . You have to survive 30 days before pay day, and you have pretty much nothing left in your bank account. . . It's incredible how we're able to survive those last few days on almost nothing, but the first few days after payday, we think we're the Wolf of Wall Street! . . So, here are a few reasons why most of us are completely broke at the end of the month: . . 1 ) Living a fake life Some folks try to impress a date by posing to be amongst the elites, some go as far as borrowing cars, clothes, even phones just to impress a lady. You take the date to a restaurant that the bills are almost half of your pay.mind you the quality ought to be in you and not on you, so be yourself. . 2) Chasing after brands If you never have any money left at the end of the month and you're living on 2-minute noodles on toast for the last week, but wearing a pair of designer shorts you bought on credit, you're silly. Sort yourself out! The other shorts at the other shop that looked the same were just as good. . . 3) Impulse Shopping If you're buying something you don't really need just because it's N200 less, doesn't mean you're saving money. It means you're spending it! Stop! Sit down! . . 4) Mobile data charges. Once again, to a certain extent, pretty much unavoidable. But, even here you can make a few changes. If you're refreshing Facebook on your phone every 17 seconds, stop! Also, that adorable app/games can wait until you're at work and hooked up to their WiFi! . . 5) Spending Money Before You Have it. That contracted job that was offered to you at the pub or on the golf course last week doesn't mean you have the money already. Sit down! Do the work, get the pay and then spend the money. . . 6) Drinks after work. Let's face it. If you're heading to the pub after work every other day, you can make some changes here. Make a rule: Never go to the pub on a week night. . . 7) Refusing to budget for each month... Now if nations draw out budget to enhance a smooth spending of it's finances, don't u think it's wise to adopt such strategy. budget helps u keep your income in check. . . Making of unnecessary calls. My dear this aspect is quite sensitive because 98% of us are guilty of it.but sit down and calculate how much you spend on airtime in a year, I bet it will beat your imagination, how much you could had saved if calls where limited. 9) Being Generous To A Fault. Generosity is awesome and Godly, but when you dash out that money remember your budget for the month. . . Finally And Most importantly 10) Always give to ceaser what belongs to ceaser and to God what belongs to God. PAY YOUR TITHE AND GIVE YOUR OFFERINGS TO THE LORD.because He will help u chase out the devourer. |
Anticipating Evil I want to share something with you...a little bit an unusual subject but it’s important. My subject [is] anticipating evil. That’s what I want to talk about; anticipating evil. I told you it’s a rather an unusual subject. Did you ever hear the expression “I smell trouble?” you know, because some Christians, many Christians really, have never been taught about anticipating evil. Proverbs 22:3 A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished. Did you see that? A prudent man foreseeth the evil, he can anticipate evil. A prudent man anticipates evil; He foresees the evil and hides himself. But the simple pass on, they go ahead and are punished; so they get into trouble; and when God tells you anything twice, take it seriously, that’s one of the spiritual laws. If He tells you the same thing twice, you better take it very very seriously. Why? Let me show you. Proverbs 27:12 A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished. Exactly the same thing, exactly the same words from the same writer. The Spirit prompts him to say the same thing again. A man or woman that has the Holy Sprit has no reason to be a failure in life. The guy who lost his job, and because he lost his job and he has spent so long on that job, he said “at my age, no body is going to give me a new job, I don’t have enough money to start a new business.” He was fed up and he became sick very quickly and aged very quickly. He anticipated evil, he knew evil days will come because now he didn’t have any place to get money, no more work and he thought it’s over. To be continued. ... |
Two parents of the abducted Chibok girls say they are doubtful about the identity of a second girl, Serah Luka, reportedly rescued by Nigerian troops. A spokesperson of the Nigerian Army made the claim on Thursday. In separate phone interviews with SaharaReporters, however, the parents said they have yet to be shown the girl, a full 24 hours after she was said to have been rescued, and affirmed they do not have a Serah Luka on their list of the kidnapped girls. One of the of parents, Lawan Hannah who is the secretary of the Parents Association of the Abducted Girls from Chibok, said the army ought to have brought the rescued girl to Chibok for identification before releasing her name and photograph to the public. He wondered why the Nigerian Army has refused to unite the girl with her parents so that their claims can be verified. Asked if he had seen the photo released by the army, he said nobody in Chibok has because they lack Internet access in the area. The first of the hundreds of girls to be recovered, 19-year old Amina Ali Mkeki, was found on Wednesday near in the company of a man referred to as her husband, and a four-month-old baby. She met with President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday. Before going to press, the press release below was obtained by Saharareporters: We are excited with the news of yet another rescued Chibok girl. According to Haruna Mutali, a community leader in Chibok, their background checks have revealed that this second returnee, Miss Serah Luka, was an SSS 1 learner at GSS Chibok, who was abducted by the insurgents in her home in Madagali. Every citizen returned is victory for us all. We appeal to the humanity in us to stay positively focused on emerging developments. We wish to advice caution in disseminating information too promptly, as we appeal that we respect the human dignity of our returnees and their loved ones, as we engage on this topic. We commend the gallant Nigerian army, the Civilian JTF, and the other security forces. We are strongly with you, as through great sacrifice you annihilate the insurgents, return our compatriots, reclaim our territories, and restore peace and normality especially in northeast Nigeria. Please, any economist in the house should
help me balance this equation because
Nigeria is gradually turning to globally
embarrassing country. If a barrel of oil was
sold for USD130 and Nigerians bought fuel
for 97 naira/liter now a barrel of oil sells for
USD45 and Nigerian government wants to
sell to its own citizens for 145 naira/liter.
Ain't Nigerians supposed to enjoy the cheap
commodity? Do we pay more when there is
fall in price or when prices increased? The
funny thing is that it is the same old faces
that protested when the previous
government came up with the policy are
now the one propagating the course. Sorry
Nigerians because God has left you guys...
God used to be a Nigerian but today, things
are no longer the same. So people can go to
any length lying up and down to get political
power. We now have even the so called men
of God in politics. Where is Tunde Bakare,
Dino malaye, Tinubu, Olamide, NLC, and TUC.
The blood of the young man who died in
Lagos during the subsidy removal protest
will choke all of you to death... Period |
The attackers killed the district head, Mr. Bala Madaki, The Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU) has again received the news of the unprovoked attack on Fadan Karshi in Sanga Local Government by suspected herdsmen. The attackers killed the district head, Mr. Bala Madaki, 66, and his nephew, Emmanuel Tanko, who was writing the 2016 West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination. Violence is no stranger to Sanga Local Government. Natives of the Council have been massacred in indescribable manners for years. In the past two years, more than 200 people have been killed so far in Sanga local Government alone. Other LGAs in Southern Kaduna have also witnessed the barbaric cruelty of these marauding herdsmen which has killed thousands of people and left entire communities razed to the ground. We firstly, commiserate with the people of Sanga Local Government over the new attack, even as they prepare for the burial this Saturday, and pray that the Good Lord bring healing and peace to their communities. We also appeal to the state government to, as a matter of urgency, influence the permanent deployment of security personnel to that area, especially the forest serving as boundaries with Plateau and Nasarawa states. We are also calling on the people of Sanga, and all other communities in Southern Kaduna that have borne the brunt of countless attacks from suspected herdsmen, to begin to explore other self-help means of thwarting these persistent attacks that have left some of the Southern Kaduna people in ruins. This self-help is to complement whatever measures the state government has/is taking to curtail these killings. We owe it to ourselves to reduce the numbers of mass graves used in burying our people; from becoming increased features of our communities. SOKAPU is also calling on its elected representatives both at the National and State House of Assembly to always continue to speak out on the plight of their people when these types of killings occur. Signed: Barrister Solomon Musa SOKAPU PRESIDENT |
