While formerly popular antimicrobial ingredients triclosan and triclocarban were removed from soaps following orders from the United States Food and Drug Administration last year, scientists are now calling for stricter regulations around the world. Published in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives, "The Florence Statement on Triclosan and Triclocarban", is backed by medical professionals and scientists. It warns about the dangers of the two ingredients’ widespread use around the world.
As the authors point out, these potentially harmful ingredients are in more than just soap. “Triclosan and triclocarban are used as antimicrobials, a class of chemicals present in >2,000 products including soaps, toothpastes, detergents, clothing, toys, carpets, plastics, and paints. In personal care products like hand soap, there is no evidence that use of triclosan or triclocarban improves consumer or patient health or prevents disease.”
Popular toothpaste brand Colgate Total, for example, contains triclosan. The company acknowledges the controversy surrounding triclosan on its website and provided a statement about its safety in toothpaste. “The truth is this: while the FDA may be unconvinced by the support submitted by the soap companies, that’s not the case with Colgate Total. Our toothpaste was approved through the FDA’s New Drug Application (NDA) process, the same rigorous review the agency conducts for prescription medications. After an exhaustive review, the agency determined that Colgate Total provides a meaningful therapeutic benefit and is safe for consumers. Colgate Total’s NDA approval has not changed in any way.”

The Game Defends "All Eyez On Me" Amid Harsh Criticism

Opinions about the newly-released All Eyez On Me biopic has been about as varied as Young Thug’s vocal range, swinging from malicious to celebratory.
Some of Hip Hop’s most influential names have been chiming in with their thoughts on the Benny Boom-directed flick following its Friday (June 16) release, including Los Angeles rap vet The Game. In an Instagram post uploaded over the weekend, the rapper casually offered a “Bleep YOU” to anyone condemning All Eyez On Me.

“#AllEyezOnMe SUPPORT it. Go see it. Tell a friend. I love the movie & ANYBODY with a negative review of this film or anything bad to say about PAC….. I’m gone say it since he can’t….. Bleep YOU #ThugLife #RIP2Pac #RIPAfeni #CaliforniaLove,” The Game wrote.

Interestingly enough, The Game’s show of love for All Eyez On Me greatly contrasts remarks made by his former foe 50 Cent. 50 compared the film to a Lifetime movie and stated ‘Pac “deserved better.”

“I’m a big 2 PAC fan, I just don’t think his story was done well he deserved better. Check it out, the shit felt like I was watching a life time TV movie in a theater. I wanted to change the channel. The new edition story was better then that shit. SMH,” 50 Cent wrote in an Instagram caption.
